Omg hey guys, it has been a while... And I mean 'a while'.
This is chapter 10 (finally yay!).
So enjoy everybody! A review would be nice after reading maybe?
Chapter 10
The flight to the dragon's nest seemed longer than usual. Were we lost? Everything was going as planned before we left, but things aren't going so smoothly anymore. We're running out of time. I could see Hiccup fidget with the sleeves of his green shirt; he didn't seem to care much for Astrid, even if they were both riding on Stormfly. Hiccup told me to look for 'anything that looked like a dragon's nest'. But, I couldn't see anything. All I saw was clouds, clouds, and guess what? More clouds! My vision was blocked by stupid fucking clouds. I flew backwards to meet up with the two.
"Can you see anything? Anything at all?" The brunette asked.
I shook my head, frustrated.
Hiccup groaned loudly causing Astrid to lightly slap him on the arm, "The dragons should know where the nest is. Not us."
Suddenly the dragons dove down causing everyone to jolt in fear and excitement. I was temporarily left behind trying to catch up with the group. Turns out we weren't lost after all. All of us landed on the ground shaken with pure adrenaline, Hiccup, Astrid, and I laughed at everyone stumbling off of their dragons like they were drunk. Snotlout's panic stricken appearance was the best, his face was as white as the clouds that surrounded us a few minutes ago. He tried grabbing onto Astrid for support, but she moved causing him to fall flat on his face. We laughed even harder. I didn't want to laugh along with Astrid, but what she did there was hilarious.
Looking around me, I realized that we landed in a forest. The surroundings didn't seem familiar at all. Hiccup looked stressed with what was happening. All of us were frustrated too, these dragons were unreliable. We desperately need to go to the dragons nest to convince the Vikings to come back. The Red Death was just too powerful, too strong for them.
All the dragons gathered together and sped off into the deep forestry. All of us were bewildered as to where they were going. We followed their footprints and the trails of smoke that wisped by. Finally we found them. They were standing at the opening of a large rocky cave. We were all confused.
Hiccup was angry, "What the hell is all of this?"
The dragons walked into the cave. Without any hesitation, we followed them again. Darkness surrounded our every corner causing us to light some sticks to create torches. Looking around using our only source of light, we spotted different sizes of rocks decorated in speckles, stripes, gradient, and all other patterns and colors. They looked like something Aster would do when Easter came close. The dragons poked their heads around as if they were searching for something.
Hiccup and I told the others to not touch anything, even though it was tempting. But, Snotlout was too stupid to listen, thinking that nothing would happen. He ended up picking one of the rocks up and started to throw it back and forth dropping it in the process. We stared at him, shocked, whispering a faint 'no' as we witnessed some sort of thick yellow fluid oozing out of the cracks. The realization hit us hard. They were eggs. They contained a life in each of them and Snotlout unknowingly killed one. He killed a creature's child. I rubbed my forehead as Snotlout tried to apologize to everyone. Before screaming at him for his disrespectful action, we heard roars from every direction, causing us to run with great fear out of the cave forgetting what Snotlout has done. Our dragons didn't follow.
All of the students, including me, furiously glared at Snotlout. Astrid looked like she was about to kill him.
"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?" The blonde fiercely growled at Snotlout causing him to back away.
"Astrid calm down. I didn't know. I-I didn't know. Probably it was some stupid animal's stupid egg."
This caused a spark into their argument. The twins tried to shut them up, but our dragons appeared, starting to leave the cave with a few others.
All of us hid in the bushes and behind the trees. About a dozen of dragons that we couldn't even identify crawled out of the cave one by one. We watched with amazement until the last dragon came out. Still, we refused to move thinking that we could be betrayed by our allies, but Hiccup stood up quietly, approaching the large group. I grabbed onto the his wrist to signal a 'no', but he pulled away, looking at me with those eyes that I deeply adored. I decided to follow him anyway to protect him. Astrid wanted to come as well, but I told her to stay put and watch the others.
The number of dragons emitted an intimidating atmosphere, with only the two of us exposed and the rest of us hidden away in the bushes and behind trees. We might not even stand a chance if we accidentally startle or anger them. The dragons that came out of the cave flew off without glancing at Hiccup and I, while the dragons we rode on waited for the rest of us as soon as they spotted my white hair.
Hiccup leaned close and whispered into my ear, "We should call the group back; I think those dragons are heading for the Red Death."
His whisper made the hairs on the back of my neck stand, I loved his voice. It was calming. Well anyway, we called the whole group back and headed to the Dragon's nest. We followed the small group of dragons to the destination. Turns out—for the protection of their eggs from the Red Death—these mothers decided to lay their eggs there and care for them until they hatched.
As we descended into view, we saw the Vikings trying to flee and fight for their lives. All of the longboats had caught on fire. Also an infuriated Red Death started to appear. Even the toughest of Vikings screamed like little girls. They realized that their chances of winning against that thing were 1 out of 100. Since there was no escape, they had to fight.
There was no time for hesitation, it's better to risk our lives than risk 1000 others. The small group of dragons lead us behind the Red Death, signalling an idea for Hiccup. He explained to everyone and gave them their tasks so that they could destroy this 'Queen of the Dragons' once and for all. The other dragons, who lead us there, flew back to the island where we first saw them. They were expectant mothers after all.
Hiccup got off Stormfly so he could find Toothless. I decided to come with him as well. We spotted the little black dragon chained up onto one of the wooden longboats. He struggled to free himself while of his mouth was wrapped around tightly with layers of rope. The longboat was on fire causing me to weaken a bit from the intense temperature.
Hiccup held my shoulders causing me to blush slightly, "Jack, you know you can't last in this heat for long. Go. It's for your own good."
I refused, "Don't worry about me Hiccup, I can do this. We can do this, together," Trying to give him false hope was not intended for, but this was for his own protection. I needed him more than he needed me.
The smaller boy let out a soft chuckle, "That's why I love you."
Hm? What? What did he say? I asked him to repeat himself, but he said that it was nothing, that he didn't say anything at all. Was he messing with me? My thoughts started to scramble everywhere. Whatever he said was probably an illusion because the torturing heat was causing me to grow weaker and dazed every time we stepped closer to Toothless.
I couldn't move much because my limbs did not cooperate with me. Hiccup carried me to Toothless saying that I was ignorant in knowing my strengths and weaknesses. Well, I was doing this for you dumbass. As we tried to free Toothless, the Red Death stepped on the boat crushing it and causing us to go underwater. Toothless was barely shackled up now, but he was still unable to move. Hiccup and I tampered with the chains before blackness swallowed us both from the lack of air.
We had awoken to the sounds of Stoick screaming at us to wake up. Hiccup and his father didn't have time to hug or do those father and son things. Instead, they apologized quickly and we left with Toothless.
So, do you guys think that Hiccup meant what he said or was it all Jack's imagination? (Ooooh things to wonder about)
Stay tuned!
