Chapter 11: Devil Dog Retreiver Part I
Agent BM: Thank you my friend :) I do like your story 'Stuck in an Elevator.'
HonorableSamurai8: Yeah, everybody who reviewed has the same bad feeling bro.
Dark Demon122: I might take a break after I finish this story. And yeah, it's been a long time since I updated. But I NEVER would've finished Nights of Lighting if I hadn't taken a break from this.
Dixie Darlin': Pretty much anyone who says that tempts fate. Some people REALLY need to learn when to keep their big mouths SHUT. lol
I DO NOT OWN SPIKE THE DEVIIL DOG. He belongs to Agent BM who was kind enough to allow me to use him. And a cool dog he is!
Herschel tried as best he could to open his eyes the next morning, yet the morning glare of the sun had other plans. Eventually, Herschel had to force his eyes open while blocking the sun with his hand. The warming glow eventually coursed itself through his body. The Aussie tried to get up, yet he found some extra weight wrapped around his torso, trapping him in bed. "Aww, she's so cute when she's asleep," Herschel whispered to himself as his eyes laid upon Sticky. Sticky's nose slightly wrinkled as she softly snored. Herschel chuckled and poked her ribs. Sticky's body cringed at being poked and Sticky mumbled something. It was then that Herschel got a devilish idea. He slowly reached to Sticky's stomach with both hands and started to slightly tickle her.
"HAHAHHA! S-S-STOP!" Sticky laughed and begged as she woke up. Herschel grinned wider and tickled even harder and faster. "P-P-please H-Herschel I-I can't b-breath!" Sticky begged in between breaths. Herschel chuckled as he saw his girlfriend squirm beneath him.
"If you want me to stop," Herschel started before leaning in close to her ear, "you have to kiss me," he said quietly. Sticky quickly took advantage of Herschel's break and rammed her lips onto his. The Australian Redneck moved his arms around Sticky's neck as the kiss deepened. Herschel propped Sticky up on his lap to help get her a better angle to kiss him. After a few minutes, the two parted for air and rested their foreheads on one another's.
"Good morning to you too Hershey," Sticky said sweetly as the two stared into each other's eyes. Herschel smirked and hugged her.
"Hope you slept well Wipp," he replied, "because we have 20 minutes to get to President Vanellope's castle," he explained. Sticky gasped and looked at her watch. She quickly sat up from the bed and looked around for stuff to pack.
"Oh man, oh man, I gotta get my clothes for the trip, toothbrush, pjs," she sounded like she was having a panic attack. It didn't take long before Sticky realized that she was in Herschel's house and not her own. "Herschel!" She cried out, "we have to get to my house to get my overnight stuff!" She exclaimed worriedly. Herschel rolled his eyes and grabbed her shoulders.
"Sticky, get ahold of yourself," he said to calm her down, "we'll make do with what we have; I'm sure Vanellope has extra pjs for you to use and maybe some spare toothbrushes for you," he said calmly. Sticky breathed deeply and smiled to Herschel.
"Thanks Hershey, you know just how to cheer me up," she hugged him.
(At Vanellope's Castle)
Our favorite Sugar Rush couple was busy waiting in the foyer of Vanellope's castle. Both had their bags and suitcases packed for their trip to Super Mario Land. Vanellope kept checking her watch and tapping her foot impatiently. Rancis sat on his suitcase and watched Vanellope be impatient. "Nelly, your pacing his driving me nuts, they'll be here and we'll be in Super Mario Land in no time," he assured her. Vanellope huffed and glared at Rancis, whom promptly backed off. Suddenly, there was a quick bark followed by a sad whimper. Vanellope turned around to see her faithful devil dog, Spike, laying down in a saddened state.
"Aww Spikey," Vanellope said and walked over to her companion, "I know you're gonna miss me," she hugged him while he licked her face with his chocolate tongue, "but you're gonna love Herschel and Sticky, aren't ya?!" She asked in a baby voice while she scratched Spike's belly. "Whose a good boy? Whose a good boy?" She asked in her baby voice again. Spike's rear leg started kicking as she scratched even harder on his stomach. Their moment was interrupted when the doorbell rang and Rancis sat up from his suitcase and opened the door to reveal Herschel and Sticky standing there.
"Hey guys, glad you could make it, Nelly was driving me insane," Rancis whispered to his friends.
"I HEARD THAT!" Vanellope shouted as Herschel and Sticky walked into the castle. Vanellope walked up to the two with Spike following her.
"Hey, who is this cute lil fella?" Herschel asked as Spike sniffed him and Sticky before panting and staring at the two.
"This is Spike, my best friend!" Vanellope introduced her devil dog. Spike barked proudly and happily groaned while Sticky scratched his ear.
"So, is there anything you need to tell us Vanellope?" Sticky asked. Vanellope stood up from gathering up her suitcase and turned to the two.
"Not really, if you need extra pjs Sticky, there's some in my closet," Vanellope explained, "and have all the food in the fridge if you want, I gave all the staff, including Sour Bill, the week off, so enjoy yourselves," Vanellope wished them as she and Rancis opened the door. "Oh and Spike," she said while looking at her dog, "you promise to be on your best behavior for Herschel and Sticky?" Vanellope asked him sternly. Spike eagerly nodded his head and panted. "Good boy, let's go Flugs," Vanellope said as the two left. Once the door closed, Spike whined a little bit at his master and best friend left.
"Aww, it's okay Spike mate," Herschel said and scratched Spike's head, "come on, let's go get you some food how 'bout?" Herschel asked Spike. The cheerful devil dog jumped up and panted at the mention of food. Herschel and Sticky made their way to the kitchen with Spike eagerly following suit. "Now then, where's your food Spike?" Herschel asked. Spike barked and scratched at a cabinet door next to the fridge.
"I can make us some pancakes if you want Hershey," Sticky said while Herschel pulled out a big bag of chocolate chips.
"Sound's great Wipp," Herschel replied as he poured the chocolate chips into Spike's bowl. Spike licked Herschel's hand as a thanks before devouring his food. "So," Herschel started as he sat down and Sticky set a plate down, "what should we do?" He asked Sticky.
"Well, we could just cuddle up on Vanellope's bed and watch TV with Spike," Sticky suggested after she swallowed her food. Herschel smiled and took a sip of Pepsi Max before Spike let out a big belch. He curled up next to his empty bowl and just stared at Herschel and Sticky. "Or we could play with Spike?" Sticky added on. The Devil Dog sat up at the mention of his name and wagged his tail.
"I like the sound of that, let's take him outside," Herschel said and put his plate in the sink. Spike got up and shook his body, ready to play. "Come on boy, let's go outside!" Herschel exclaimed and opened the back door to the kitchen. Spike zoomed out the door while Herschel tried to keep up.
"I'll be waiting in here Hershey!" Sticky called out as Herschel ran outside. He found Spike next to a Candy Cane tree with a branch in his mouth.
"Bring me your stick Spike," Herschel called out. Spike ran up and dropped it at Herschel's feet. The Aussie picked it up and chucked it far away in the trees. Spike high-tailed it toward the trees to find his stick. Herschel laughed, having a pretty good time with Spike when another dog barked, and another dog. "What in the world? I guess Vanellope has more than one Devil Dog," Herschel said to himself. Spike ran back from the woods with the candy cane branch in his mouth and his tongue sticking out. "Come on boy,"
Herschel called to him. The two went around the corner of the castle and stumbled upon a dog pen filled with about 8 other Devil Dogs. "So, I'm guessing the police here use these ones Spike?" Herschel asked Vanellope's pet. He nodded and barked slightly, as if saying 'yes.' One of the other dogs noticed the two and started viciously barking. Spike got next to the fence and growled at him.
"Herschel!" Sticky called out, "where'd you go?" She asked.
"Come on boy, we don't want to mess with these dogs," Herschel warned Spike. Spike glared at the other dogs and let out another growl before turning around and following Herschel.
"So, are those other dogs Vanellope's?" Sticky asked once she saw the dog pen.
"No, I think the police here use them, and Vanellope just took Spike in as her own I guess," Herschel thought as he scratched Spike's head.
"Well, since Vanellope basically gave all of the staff the week off, maybe we should help take care of these ones," Sticky suggested. Herschel cringed and turned around to the dogs who were barking at them.
"I don't know Wipp, I can tell which dogs are nice and which ones are mean, and I can tell you that Spike here is the only nice one of the bunch," Herschel explained while Spike sat down with pride.
"But their still animals, they need love too," Sticky countered.
"Oh all right Sticky, but one at a time okay? We don't want to lose any of the dogs," Herschel said with clear unease in his voice. Herschel took Spike with him back to the pen when Herschel gasped. "THEY'RE GONE!" Herschel shouted.
"What? What do you mean they're gone Hershey?" Sticky asked worriedly.
"I mean they're G-O-N-E gone!" Herschel replied. "How in the world did they do this?" He asked himself as he got on his knees and rubbed his chin. Spike barked for attention and pointed his nose behind a candy bush.
"Hey, I think Spike found something," Sticky pointed out as the two made their way over to Spike. "It looks like they tunneled their way out," Sticky exclaimed.
"Well. it looks like they worked on it for quite some time," Herschel said and groaned, "well we got some dogs to find, Spike, are you ready to search for your fellow creamy canines?" Herschel asked Spike. Spike stood on all fours and barked. "Good now let's go find them. We have eight of them to find," Herschel said and hooked a leash up to Spike. "Come on Wipp, we'll take my kart, we don't want Vanellope to find out about this," he said to his girlfriend. The three ran to Herschel's kart and hopped in, started it up and took off to find the eight Devil Dogs.
"Where do we begin looking?" Sticky asked Herschel.
"I haven't a clue Wipp, but luckily we have Spike, right boy?" Herschel exclaimed. Spike nodded and licked Herschel's cheek. "Good now start sniffin' Spike!" Herschel said. Spike put his front paws on the dashboard and sniffed the air several times before letting out a loud bark and pointing his noise to the left. Herschel jerked the wheel to the left and drifted to the area where Spike pointed out. Herschel grabbed a net and Sticky waved some bacon in the air. Luckily, Spike knew it wasn't his to eat and he kept his cool.
"Come here doggy," Sticky called out and waved the piece of bacon around. Suddenly, two of the dogs burst from the woods and tried to snatch the bacon from Sticky. She shrieked as one of the dogs almost bit her hand off. Spike jumped from the kart and growled at the two dogs.
"Alright you conniving canines, you're going back home now!" Herschel exclaimed and got one with the net while Spike escorted the other one into the back of Herschel's kart. "Okay, we'll bring these two back, fill up the hole and go back searching again alright?" Herschel asked Sticky.
"As long as we do it together, that sounds great Hershey!" Sticky replied as the couple and three devil dogs rode off back to the castle.
Sorry for another short chapter, but I think it works, plus it helps add even more chapters to the story! Look for Chapter 12 coming soon! And again, thanks to Agent BM for letting me use Spike the Devil dog!
