Chapter 11: Fluffy-jii, it is you!

"Papa..."

'He left us...'

"Papa left us alone..."

'Why did he do that to us?'

"Papa made Mama cry so many times..."

Saki stared at the water that flowed ever so gently below her aching feet. She looked into the water and saw her face reflected in the surface, but Saki didn't see the reflection of a normally happy girl staring up at her. She saw a girl with puffy eyes, snot flowing from her nose, and trails of tears could be spotted on her dirty face. She sniffed and began drying her face with her wrist, which successfully got the snot under her nose smeared all over her face instead of getting it off. Her wet clothes felt cold and clammy against her shivering skin, but Saki didn't care at all about getting dried up. She had jumped into the shallow end of the river, and then she had started running along the shore until she was sure that the hanyou - her father - Inuyasha, wouldn't be able to find her even though his senses were much more delicate than her own. She didn't care that she quite possibly worried her mother to death right now. She... she just wanted to be left alone.

Why had Papa been here for so long and never even considered coming to visit them? Saki wasn't stupid, no she was far from it, because her heightened senses had revealed her mother crying herself to sleep almost every night when she believed that Saki was sound sleeping. It had hurt Saki as well that her mother had to suffer because of her father's absence, but she kept on smiling for her mother. She kept on smiling because if she didn't then her mother would know that something was wrong, and she would start getting cautious around her.

Tears began running down her cold cheeks once again, and she stubbornly began rubbing her cheeks with the back of her hands to remove the small drops of salty liquid. She didn't want to let anyone see her like this - not that anyone would even think of looking after her out in the wilderness - when she was tearing up from the inside out because of the emotional loop her father had thrown her into.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid, STUPID PAPA!" the small girl screamed as loud as she could before throwing a small handful of dirt into the river, and then she stood up from her spot at the shore. With a determined look crossing over her face, she turned around and began walking into the forest without even knowing where she was going to end up.

'I'm not going home before he apologizes to Mama and me!' Saki thought angrily as she stomped through a few bushes, before she looked back towards the river. With a small huff she shook her head, and turned back to face the forest. There was no way that she was going to forgive her father. Not before he had apologized.

Kouga swirled the wine in his glass around slowly, as he listened to the radio running in the background with the latest hit from some new American musician.

"Tou-san~! I need some money!"

Kouga's blue eyes looked away from the wine, and locked onto the green eyes of his eldest daughter. Her dark hair was curling down her shoulders in gentle waves, and she looked like she was about to hit the nearest nightclub. She was dressed in a skimpy tank-top, and the tiniest miniskirt Kouga had ever laid his blue eyes on.

"Aiko, what the Hell are you wearing?!" Kouga gaped after spitting out the wine in his mouth all over his floor, and his daughter, Aiko, wrinkled her nose in disgust before she smoothed down a wrinkle in her indecent-looking get-up.

"I need money, Tou-san! There's this new nightclub in central Tokyo, and some friends and me are gonna check it out!"

She cocked her head to the side when her father went out towards the kitchen with his nearly empty wineglass, and began pouring some more in it.

"You want money, Aiko? Then get yourself a job."

"But Tou-sa~n!"

"Don't 'Tou-sa~n!' me, Aiko. Get a job."

Kouga then walked back to his couch, and grinned mischievously when the frustrated scream from his daughter reached his sensitive ears, before he winced when she slammed the door shut a lot louder than necessary.

"Pheh... women..." he muttered before continuing to sip at the wine.

"Are you satisfied with the result of your idiotic actions, Inuyasha?"

The Inu no Taisho watched as the young - in Youkai-terms - Hanyou spun around to try and see who had spoken just now, and the DaiYoukai had to suppress the wry grin that was beginning to creep onto his face at the sight of his youngest son's distress. Inu no Taisho glared at his youngest son from the shadows with a murderous look in his formerly carefree golden eyes, and he glanced at the sword hanging from his son's hip. Tetsusaiga continued to aide him it seemed, although he had nothing to protect anymore.

"Who's there?! Show yourself!"

Dear Kami, how naive could the boy be? What kind of enemy revealed their position unless they were either anxious to just straight up die, or extremely confident in their ability to survive an attack from a Youkai - half or not.

"I said show yourself!" Inuyasha roared once again as he drew Tetsusaiga, and the huge Fang transformed into the weapon that the Inu no Taisho knew so well. He really had missed holding, just seeing, his old partner in battle, and then the DaiYoukai finally decided to speak once again.

"Was it not enough for you to scare away the woman who was supposed to be your Mate? Did you really have to shock the child you sired as well? You are nothing more than a pathetic excuse for a demon!"

Inuyasha stiffened at those words, and an emotion his father couldn't decipher darkened his face for a few moments before it disappeared, and left nothing but anger behind.

"Oh yeah? Who the Hell are you anyways?"

Inu no Taisho chuckled in the shadows before he stepped forward and decided to answer his son.

"I don't blame you for not recognizing my voice, pup, for you was not even an hour old when you and I met for the first and only time."

Inuyasha whirled around with barren fangs, a murderous look in his eyes, and Tetsusaiga ready for battle, but he stopped at once the second he saw who had spoken. He remembered that voice from long ago when he and Sesshoumaru had been forced to fight together so that old sword, So'unga, had been banished in Hell where it belonged.

"Y-you're..."

Inuyasha was at a loss regarding words for once, and Inu no Taisho let a rather sinister look roam his face long enough for Inuyasha to know that the ghost of his father hadn't come here for tea and cuddling before a fireplace.

"Yes, pup, long time no see, huh?"

Inuyasha let Tetsusaiga revert back to its rusty form, and slowly slid it back in its worn sheath before he began focusing on the ghostly form of his father, who had started circling the brash Hanyou as he flexed his claws hands.

"Why are you here?"

"It was brought to my attention that you had slept with a woman who then carried your child. Seeing as you let this escalate so far as it did, you must have recognized the woman as your Intended, your Mate, so what I don't understand is... HOW THE HELL COULD YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT LEAVING HER?!"

Inu no Taisho's eyes flashed a deep red for a few seconds, and Inuyasha swallowed heavily as the fear for his life began creeping up his spine. This was more serious than he had thought because he was quite sure that Kagome wasn't his Mate, hell Kikyou wasn't even his Mate! Inuyasha then caught movement behind the ghost, and his eyes dilated a bit when he recognized who it was.

'Kikyou...'

"You're wrong."

"Excuse me?"

"Kagome's not my Mate. I never felt a connection like that with her at all. She was interested in me, and I entertained the idea for a while because I was curious as well but we are not Mates, and we never will be." Inuyasha said firmly as he looked his dead father right in the eyes, and his grip around Tetsusaiga tightened. He saw Kikyou's emotionless face get a strange look before he forced his eyes away from her own cold brown, and he looked at the ghost of his father once again.

"You reek of death. Have you been bedding that Miko that brought me back to this realm?"

'Kikyou brought him back? Why on Earth...'

"Yeah, so what?"

In the blink of an eye his father disappeared before him, and then Inuyasha felt something slam against his chest, sending him face first into the nearest tree.

"YOU INSOLENT IDIOT! HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT A WOMAN IN THAT WAY?!"

The fires only residing in Hell could be seen flashing around angrily in his father's eyes, and Inuyasha felt fear creep into the corners of his soul once again like it was a parasite waiting for him to let his guard down.

"YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE WITH THE PERFECT WOMAN, AND YOU REFUSE?! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?"

"Err... can I...?"

"NOT TO MENTION THAT YOU APPARENTLY DECIDE THAT BEDDING AN ALREADY DEAD WOMAN IS BETTER! HAVE YOU NO SHAME, YOU INSOLENT BRAT?"

"H-HEY!"

"AT LEAST SESSHOUMARU WAS MAN ENOUGH TO SAY HOW HE FELT ABOUT MY RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR MOTHER BACK THEN!"

This time Inuyasha felt rage boil inside his very soul in the second his mother was brought up. He knew very well that Sesshoumaru had despised his mother with all of his possibly non-existent heart, (AN: Sorry fangirls, please forgive me for writing such a thing as Sesshoumaru without a heart! *cries*) and Inuyasha let a vicious growl out of his throat.

"Keep her out of this, bastard! Mother has nothing to do with this ordeal!" Inuyasha roared, completely oblivious to anything other than his father, and Inu no Taisho shot back a just as vicious growl to his son. The two males began circling around each other - both having drawn their respective swords, and readied their claws - while waiting for the other to lose patience, and begin to fight.

"Jaken-sama~! Look at that blue flower over there!"

The Kappa-youkai groaned loudly as he was dragged around by the 11 year old bundle of energy that was Rin, while silently begging his Lord and Liege, Sesshoumaru-sama, to save him from the pesky child.

"I don't have time for this, Rin! I need to make sure that Ah-Un is nearby!"

"Jaken-sama is just sour, because he can't smell the flowers!" Rin giggled as she began jumping up and down around the annoyed retainer.

"Shut up, you insolent brat! I can assure you that if it wasn't because of Sesshoumaru-sama, you would have been left behind long ago! You ought to act more subdued, like a real woman, instead of like a child born in a cave!"

"Jaken..."

The Kappa froze when the cool voice of his Lord sounded behind him, and a happy squeal from Rin confirmed what he feared. Sesshoumaru-sama was standing behind him.

"A-ah... Sesshoumaru-sama, this is not what it..."

"You are right, Jaken. It is time for Rin to learn proper etiquette."

Jaken blinked confused a few times as the grip on his staff tightened, while he waited to be punished by his Lord because of the things he had said to Rin. It was rare that he ever agreed with the servant, so for him to do it now of all times was... unexpected, and if there was one thing Jaken despised, more than Rin on a sugar-high because of the sweets she practically devoured when they were at Sesshoumaru-sama's Palace, then it was unexpected things.

"Really, Sesshoumaru-sama? If you really want it, then I'll do my very best!" Rin squealed happily before she jumped over to the stoic DaiYoukai, and grabbed onto his loose shirt while humming softly to herself.

'This is ridiculous?! When will Sesshoumaru-sama realize that she is nothing but a burden?!'

The trio, and Ah-Un, continued walking with no particular aim for quite a while with Sesshoumaru being... well... being Sesshoumaru, Jaken mumbling about something about bad manners, and Rin occasionally start giggling whenever she spotted a butterfly, or a bird, or a flower she thought was too pretty to simply leave alone in the middle of the forest.

"E-eh... Excuse me, Sesshoumaru-sama, but where are we headed?"

"..."

"O-of course his Lordship doesn't have to say anything to me if he does not wish to do so! I am err... I am merely asking because of Rin, Milord!"

Sesshoumaru's elegant eyebrows neared his silver hairline while he shot Jaken a doubting look, only to continue staring at the air before him without a word leaving his lips.

"We are going to see the old Miko in the village of my half-brother. She will teach Rin about womanhood. After that we will go to the Palace, until Rin is prepared for the life of a proper human-woman."

"A-ah... I see." Jaken muttered as he looked at the ground while thoughts began roaming around in his head. It was just as unusual for Sesshoumaru to seek out the village Inuyasha lived in, as when he agreed with Jaken every once in a millennia, (AN: bad pun intended guys! I know Sesshy-chan ain't THAT old... or is he?) but Jaken shook his head in surrender. He would never understand the brilliant mind of his Lord and Liege, Sesshoumaru-sama.

"Jaken... where is Rin?"

"Eh?"

"I asked where Rin is, Jaken."

Jaken looked around frantically as he tried to spot the dark-haired girl somewhere nearby, but she wasn't anywhere in sight. Not even her obnoxious voice - in Jaken's opinion - could be heard anywhere around them, and Jaken felt a lump form in his throat as Sesshoumaru raised his foot in the air, and then promptly kicked him onto Ah-Un with astounding precision.

"Seek her out in the air. I will go into the forest from here."

"Y-yes Sesshoumaru-sama! Right away, Milord!"

Rin hummed for herself, and was skipping around in a clearing picking up flower after beautiful flower when she heard a soft crying coming from the middle of the clearing. Without making a sound, the young girl slowly made her way towards the middle of the clearing where the sound came from.

"Stupid, stupid, stupid, Papa! I hate him!" the voice cried as even more sniffles and sobs was heard, and Rin felt her heart constrict in her chest when she finally saw who was making the noise. It was a little girl clad in some kind of white dress that hugged her small body, because of the water that dripped from it. Her black hair looked like it was still damp, so it hadn't been long since she had left whatever watery area she had been in earlier.

"Um... Hello? What's wrong?"

The little girl stiffened, and she slowly turned her head to see Rin stand there with a huge bundle of flowers in her arms.

"W-who are you?" the girl sniffled as she used the back of her hand to dry the tears away from her face, leaving dirt smudged all over it, and Rin couldn't resist a smile from erupting on her face at the sight of the girl sitting there so alone and helpless. She looked like she needed to talk to someone.

"I'm Rin! Why are you all alone out here, and where is your parents?"

"My Mama is back in the village we've been living in over a week, and my... my... I'm not talking to my Papa EVER AGAIN!" the girl cried out as new tears began running down her cheeks, and Rin threw down the flowers in her arms and then ran over to hug the small girl, who immediately latched onto her and began crying her eyes out.

"There, there..."

Rin began stroking the small girl's head, as she kept on listening to her cries and sobs that flowed from her like water.

"P-papa he... he... he..."

The girl couldn't even get the words out, and Rin sighed softly while the small girl kept on rambling and sniffling as if she hadn't already emptied her reserves of salty water deposited in her tiny body.

"Do you know the way back to your village?"

"No, I... I don't know where I even am..." the girl whispered as she continued burying her face in Rin's embrace, and the older girl looked around with a slightly distressed look in her brown eyes as she looked around the edge of the clearing. Something was unsettling her, and she had the feeling that the small girl and herself were being watched by... something.

"H-hello? Anybody out there?"

Rin didn't get an answer right away, only a strange grunt, and then a big shadow began moving around with some bushes, that slowly parted to reveal a large sickly green body.

"An Oni..." Rin whispered, and she froze completely still while silently waiting for the Oni to leave without getting anywhere near the two of them.

'Go away, go away, go away!'

"Food... I smell food nearby..." the Oni grunted as it dragged its heavy wooden club along the earth, and Rin squeezed her eyes shut as she hugged the small shivering girl in her arms even closer than before.

"R-Rin... what is that?" the girl in her arms whispered as she slowly stopped shivering, and instead froze into place as the Oni slowly got closer to the place they were sitting hidden in the tall grass that covered the entire clearing.

"It's an Oni. You have to sit completely still, alright?" Rin whispered back to the girl who gave her a tiny nod, slowly untangled herself from Rin's arms, and then sought down towards the ground where she lay on her stomach.

"I'll try and distract it, while you make your way back to the river, or lake, you came from earlier." Rin whispered but the girl's eyes got huge, and she shook her head frantically while trying to haul Rin down towards the ground so she wouldn't get seen by the advancing youkai.

"I'll just throw a rock towards one of the logs over there," Rin pointed at some trees a few meters away, "and then we just have to make sure that we won't be seen when we try to run in the opposite direction." the youkai ward whispered, and it seemed to calm the girl down somewhat, but not entirely.

Rin slowly reached out with her hand, and let it sweep over the ground in an attempt to find a rock that would be big enough to make a ruckus without giving away where they were hiding. Meanwhile the small girl with her was pressing her body as close to the ground as possible, and she was shivering like aspen-leaves, while extremely quiet whimpers could be heard from her throat.

"Rin... I'm scared..." she whimpered as she squeezed her eyes shut, and Rin nodded stiffly as she kept her eyes locked onto the Oni walking around in the clearing.

"Food... hungry..." it groaned as it began sniffing the air, and Rin tensed immediately. If it caught their scents then they were done for!

"Sesshoumaru-sama... please help me!" Rin whispered before she finally stood up straight, and then hauled the stone as hard as she could towards the forest in front of the Oni.

"Huh? Food...?"

The Oni began jogging over toward the place where the rock had hit a branch, and immediately Rin turned around to grab the small girl only to dart straight through the clearing so they maybe could escape the Oni if they were lucky.

"Huh... humans?... Food!"

The Oni seemed to have spotted them, and with a roar it jumped off the ground and then landed heavily before Rin, and the small girl clutching her arm like it was a lifeline.

"FOOD!" the Oni roared as it raised its club up in the air and prepared to slam it down onto the two children, who was as frozen before the hideous youkai.

"Rin!" the small girl cried out as she kept on clutching Rin's arm, and the older girl wrapped her arms tightly around the younger one.

'Sesshoumaru-sama! Please help us!' Rin thought as tears began running down her cheeks, and she began backing away from the Oni as fear began clouding her mind like a dark shadow only to stop when her back hit the trunk of an oak.

"Sess..."

Rin's voice was drowned by the hungry roar coming from the advancing Oni and the shrill cries from the small girl tucked into her arms, and she squeezed her eyes shut, preparing to cease existing when a silent 'thump' was heard, and slowly Rin opened her eyes to stare at the backside of her beloved Lord. (AN: Woohoo! Rin hit the jackpot!... sorry but I'm on a sugar-high right now!)

"Sesshou... maru... sama..." Rin whispered and flinched slightly when he turned his head halfway to glare at her with his beautiful golden eyes, and a small 'hnn' escaped his lips before he turned around to kneel before her.

"Are you safe, Rin?"

That was when the small girl in Rin's arms turned around, looked at Sesshoumaru a few moments as if he was some kind of exotic animal on display in a zoo, and then a huge smile erupted onto her face which was followed by a happy shout.

"Fluffy-jii, it is you!"
