Chapter 11: Rejected
The moment Soul chose to make Maka chose, between his band and Asura, he was one hundred percent sure she'd chose his band. After all, she loved their music and Soul'd seen Maka dance to the beat of the music and smiled wide during their concerts. So he's very surprised when she didn't say Eaters. She said Asura.
"Absolutely not! It's not even questionable!" Azusa exclaimed.
He was so sure she would choose him over Asura. He was a better person than that snake. Because he is, right?
"I don't see the problem with it! Why can't I tour with Madness of Asura? Give me one good reason!" Maka screamed back toward Azusa with the other band members standing behind Azusa, very confused over Maka's sudden change of heart.
"Because I promised your father I'd keep an eye on you! I won't be able to do so if you're on Madness of Asura's bus! And I know what horrible things going on their bus! You're the winner of the lottery and that contract says you're going to tour with Eaters― Not Madness of Asura for the whole summer! You're not going to do that since it'll look very bad for the band if you suddenly refuse to tour with Eaters!" Of course, Azusa only cared for the band's publicity and if Maka refused to tour with us then the journalists will start spreading lies why Maka refused to tour the rest of the weeks with them.
"That's ridiculous! You can't keep me on this bus!" Maka screamed toward Azusa.
Tsubaki watched her friend in horror, her friend who admired Eaters more than any other band in the whole world. Maka loves Eaters and their music so why does she suddenly want to tour with Madness of Asura? She hates their music so something had to have happened between Soul and Maka.
The black haired woman had watched when Soul stormed away in anger saying something like, "freaking unbelievable liar! Can't ever listen!" At first Tsubaki had been worried for her friend but then Black*Star managed to talk her into it was probably nothing but it was far from nothing.
"Then give me one reason why you want to tour with them instead of Eaters!" Azusa yelled.
"Because―" Maka stopped for a second, "because he's hurt because of me. If I'm not welcome here on the bus for being friends with him, then I'm better off on their bus taking care of Asura." Maka whispered softly, even though she whispered everyone heard what she said.
"What do you mean? Who said you weren't welcome on our bus if you're friends with Asura?" Kid asked looking concerned at Maka.
Maka started walking toward her room. "Soul can explain that." She slammed her door loudly behind her and all eyes turned toward Soul.
"What?"
"What did you do? Maka loves Eaters and she wouldn't want to tour with Madness of Asura ever!" Tsubaki exclaimed and moved toward Soul with angry eyes. She isn't usually mad but she easily gets mad when her friend's feelings are harmed and this case, she had to guard her own feelings since if Maka was gone from the bus, she'd be crushed. This tour was supposed to be fun and be shared together, not for Maka to move into a different tour bus with a band she hates!
"I just said Asura isn't a nice guy and then I said she couldn't tour with us if she's friends with Asura." Soul tried to make it sound like it wasn't a big deal but he knew it is a big deal. He remembered the day he met her and how excited she was and for her to abandon Eaters like this isn't something she'd do.
"You dumbass! You drove my best friend away! You damned idiot! Why do you always have to be like poison to her?!" Tsubaki yelled into his face before she walked toward their shared room.
Soul felt stunned by her comment. Poison? Was he that bad to her? No, he doesn't want her to hurt her. All he wants is to be her friend, is that too much to ask? And for warning her what a bad person Asura is Tsubaki calls him poison? He isn't poison and he'll prove to her he's the good guy and not the bad one.
"Nice going Soul. You're unbelievable bad when it comes to Maka." Black*Star said while he ran his hand through his hair. "What're you going to do to make it up to her now? You can't exactly go and buy her a new CD this time."
"I'm going to show her who the bad guy is, Black*Star, Kid, I'll need your help for this one." Kid almost jumped out of his skin when his name was said.
"Okay," Kid said and Soul started to explain his plan to them.
Inside of the bedroom Maka and Tsubaki shared, Maka had already called Kilik before Tsubaki walked inside of the room. They were currently sitting on the top bunk while having Kilik on speakers.
"Hey Kilik! It's been a while!" Tsubaki said smiling next to her best friend.
"Yeah! How're you doing?" Kilik asked through the speakers.
"I'm doing great thank you. And you can never guess what happened!" Tsubaki yelled into the phone and Kilik said he didn't know. "I'm the almighty Black*Star's girlfriend! He told me he liked me more than a friend and we got together! Isn't that amazing?!" She said and all Maka could do was giggle at the ecstatic friend of hers.
"I have to admit, it's pretty awesome. Never did I believe you'd become Black*Star's girlfriend. Congratulations Tsubaki." Kilik said happy for his friend. He's very happy it was Tsubaki who got a boyfriend and not Maka. He's very worried for his secret crush to have grown feelings for a guy. He knew he should've confessed before she went away but he didn't want it to be awkward when she toured with Eaters. Then he'd probably not hear anything from her throughout the whole summer.
"Thank you Kilik!" Tsubaki said.
"Oh, by the way, your last concert is starting to come up. You know, the one in New York. It's not many weeks left until Eaters' last concert takes place." Tsubaki and Maka frowned. Yes, their last concert would be coming up soon and they dreaded the day, Tsubaki a little more than Maka. Tsubaki had more to lose than Maka when they'd to part from the rock band.
"Yeah, we know, it's going to be nice seeing your face again." said Maka.
"What? Have you been missing my handsome face that much?" Kilik said and made Maka giggled.
"I have to admit I miss seeing you in real life instead of only hearing your voice." Maka admitted and smiled a little. She missed seeing Kilik and hanging out like they usually did.
"Yeah, I miss you two girls." There was the sound of Kilik's little brother in the background. "I'm sorry ladies but I've to go. My brother needs me. Bye."
"Bye," Tsubaki and Maka said at the same time and hung up on the call.
"I miss Kilik. It's going to be good seeing him again when it's all over but―" A very sad and heartbroken look grew on her face, "but I can't help wanting to stay here with Black*Star. Not now when we're so close."
Maka nodded, "I agree. But you know you can always call him and skype with him."
"Yes I can but it's not the same. I don't want to leave."
The blonde woman was about to comfort her friend when a knock on the door interrupted them. "Come in." Maka said. The door opened up and there stood Soul.
"I'm sorry for what I said earlier Maka, but there's something the guys and I want to show you." Soul looked apologizing at her and Maka nodded.
"Okay," Maka said and walked out of her room. Tsubaki was close behind her when Soul showed the way toward the living room. Inside of the living room sat Black*Star and Kid on the couch with a paper in their hands. Liz and Patty stood beside on the couches and looked toward Maka when she entered.
"Maka, we all don't like Asura for different reason and we're all going to lay our cards on the table. All I want is for you to hear us out and you won't ever hear me ever ask you to stay every from Asura." Soul explained peaceful toward Maka like he'd scare her away.
"Alright, then let's hear it."
Everybody started to explain what Asura did toward all of them. Kid started and said Asura drugged him with an asymmetrical pill. Of course, Kid was more upset about the shape and color of the pill instead of being worried about being drugged.
Black*Star said Asura put glue into his hair gel and always tried to pick a fight with him. Patty and Liz had problem with Asura since he first hit on them at the beginning but as soon as Liz got together with Kid, Asura got very aggressive and tried to rape her, luckily for her Kid was close and could help her.
"And the last one, I hate Asura because he's an asshole. As soon as we started the band, Asura was always mean. He always provoked me and tried to pick a fight. One time when we got off stage after performing, Asura assaulted me with a knife." Soul lifted up his shirt and exposed a huge scare bisecting his chest. It went from his right up all the way up to his left shoulder. "I thought I was going to die but I didn't. And for attacking me randomly and tried to kill me, I hate him. He's dangerous and you should stay away. You don't know what he'll do to you. He might just rape you like he tried to do to Liz."
Maka was shocked with all the different stories they shared but something very important was missing. All the stories were of what Asura did but not why he did it. He might've done it for a good reason but cutting someone up like that was something she couldn't figure out a why. Not even for almost raping Liz. Maybe Asura isn't as good as Maka thinks he is and he's only after her for her womanhood.
Now Maka got a little scared of what Asura's motives might have been but she got more afraid what his motive for hanging around Maka is.
"Okay, I'm not going to contact Asura. I'll stay away from him." Maka said and everyone exhaled with relief.
"That's great. I'm glad you finally came to your senses." Soul said while he pulled down his shirt and covered up his nasty scar. It's a reason why their band didn't go mainstream and show off a little of their skins since Soul didn't want to show the scar he got. It's very nasty and horrible in his eyes and he hates it.
"Yeah and if you don't mind, I'm going to go to my room and keep reading." Maka said and turned around to walk back to her room.
"Not so fast Albarn!" Soul said very teasingly and when Maka turned around, she was met with a very large smile on his face. "You still owe me some hang out time."
Maka had completely forgotten they were supposed to hang out. After their fight at the hospital Maka thought he changed his mind but obviously he didn't. He still wants to hang out with her of all people.
"Okay," Maka simply said and blush a little. She walked up to Soul while the stupid large grin on his face only seemed to get bigger.
"We're going out for dinner. We'll be back in an hour or so." Soul said and grabbed a hat and sunglasses for him and then he put on a sun hate on her head. "Welcome to the world of being a celebrity. If people see you, people will know I'm the one with you."
Maka blush a brighter red and covered it up with her hat.
They both walked out of the tour bus and Maka ended up having the greatest evening ever with Eaters. Maka will forever treasure that night with Soul Evans while Soul would always question why she was the one who made his heart beat faster.
