I apologize for not updating this story sooner. I lost motivation for this, but I found my motivation and I promise not to wait so long for the next update. I hope you all still enjoy this story ^_^

Michaela stood in a place she did not recognize. It appeared to be some sort of temple. There was a statue of what Michaela assumed was some God. It looked familiar, but she couldn't place the name. There was a table in front of the statue filled with an assortment of food. Why was she here?

Footsteps sounded behind her, making Michaela turn around. A figure of a person walked through the hall.

"Michaela," A voice said.

"Who are you?" Michaela asked.

"Michaela."

Everything around her began to dissolve into darkness. "What do you want?" Michaela shouted to no avail.

Michaela sat up, her eyes landing on Candace.

"Candace?" Michaela glanced around; she was back in her room.

"I was beginning to wonder. I've been trying to wake you up for a couple of minutes."

Michaela rubbed her temple. "What time is it?"

"Almost 4:30."

Michaela jumped out of bed. "Oh no, we have to get to the museum." She slipped on her shoes. "You have the necklace, right."

"Yeah, about that."

Michaela stared at her. "What?"

"I kept the necklace at my house and our house got robbed. The necklace was stolen."

"Please tell me you're kidding."

Candace shook her head. "I wish I was. Instead of spending the day painting my parents and I were dealing with police. I have a friend who works at a pawn shop and told him to be on the lookout for it."

Michaela groaned. "Now what are we going to do? Marcus is expecting the necklace tonight. I don't know what he'll do if we don't have it. No, that's not true. I know he'll kill us."

"Are you that worried about a wax figure?"

"You still don't believe me that the museum comes to life? Come on, let's go and you'll see." Michaela took a step toward the door, but stopped. "If you do come you will most likely be in danger. Maybe it would be best if you stayed here."

"I can take care of myself." Candance walked by Michaela and out the door.

"I hope you're right." Michaela then followed.

On the way to the museum, Michaela could barely sit still. She had left later than she would have liked and was worried they wouldn't have time to lock up the pirates. When the bus came to her stop, Michaela quickly stood up and took off to the museum with Candace trailing behind her.

"Slow down," Candace called out.

"Can't. Have to get there before the sun goes down."

Michaela ran up the steps of the museum, flung open the door, and almost ran into Larry. Luckily, she was able to stop in time.

Larry looked at her with concern. "Are you all right?"

"Necklace…stolen…should lock up…pirates." Michaela had her hands on her knees as she tried to catch her breath.

"The necklace was stolen? That's bad."

Candace walked in. "You should have signed up for track. You're fast."

"This must be Candace."

"Yeah. Larry, Candace. Candace, Larry." Michaela straighten up as she finally caught her breath. "Now, can we worry about the pirates?"

"Right. Pirates."

Larry and Michaela headed toward the pirate exhibit, but was soon stopped by Candace screaming. The two turned around to see Candace staring wide eyed at Rexy who had woken up and was now looking at Candace. Rexy growled.

Michaela ran between Candace and Rexy. " It's all right, Rexy. This is Candace. She's a friend."

"A T-rex named Rexy? Ok." Candace said, not taking her eyes off him.

"A new person, how wonderful." Teddy said as he came up to them. "I'm-"

"Theodore Roosevelt." Candace finished. "Ok, I'm a believer."

"Guys, we need to-"

Larry was cut off by Marcus. "Where's my necklace?!"

"Do you want to tell him?" Michaela asked Larry, which earned her a look.

"Ok, we need a plan."

Michaela leaned against the desk. Even though she had been resting for a few moments, she still had a hard time breathing.

"So, what's your plan?" Michaela asked.

"I'll just tell Marcus we don't have the necklace."

"And when he goes to kill you?"

"I'll run and think of something else."

There was a crash followed by shouting from the Huns.

"Maybe you should think of that something else first." Michaela said as she put her head on the desk.

"Michaela, are you all right?" Teddy asked.

Michaela waved him off. "I'm fine."

"Are you sick?" Candace asked.

"I said I'm fine."

"Well, you guys figure out if Michaela is or is not fine while I deal with the pirates," Larry said. He then took off up the stairs.

Michaela picked her head up off the desk. "Maybe I'm not fine. I don't know what it is."

"Do you know exactly when you started feeling this way?" Candace asked.

Michaela was silent as she thought for a moment. "Early this morning."

"You didn't get into anything new, have you?"

"No, I just-I just…" Michaela paled. "Candace, did your parents ever wash the pouch Marcus has?"

"I told them too especially because the person they bought it from had some poison powder in there. Why someone would keep poison on them I don't want to…" Candace trailed off as realization hit her. "Oh no."

"I'm dead."

"No, you're not. Not yet."

"Yet being the key word."

"Does someone want to fill me in?" Teddy asked.

Candace looked at him. "I think Michaela was poisoned."

"Poisoned? What do we do?"

"Well, first we should-"

A scream interrupted Candace followed by Larry saying, "He is not happy about this."

Candace turned her attention to Michaela. "We should get you somewhere safe. If you have been poisoned then you are not going to be up to running from pirates."

"Good idea." Michaela went to take a step, but the world around her began to spin.

Candace put her hands on Michaela's shoulders to steady her. "Are you all right? Wait, don't answer that. That's a stupid question. Come on, let's find a safe place."

"I think I know a good place."

The two of them set off as Teddy went to help Larry. A few times, Michaela would get lighted-headed and lean against the wall. Many thoughts were going through her head like: how would she ever explain to her parents she got poisoned? Also, how available was the cure? Michaela didn't know exactly where Candace's parents bought the pirates and the pouch, but she knew it wasn't local.

Candace was mumbling under her breath. Michaela couldn't focus on most of what she was saying, but she did catch "I told my parents" and "Why didn't they listen?"

This situation was worse than what happened with Kahmunrah. At least with him Michaela knew there was a chance that everything would be ok, but now? Now, she was poisoned and the chance of getting a cure was very low. Her heart was pounding, though Michaela wasn't sure if it was because of the poison, or because she knew she was going to die.

"Michaela."

Michaela glanced up to see Ahkmenrah coming her way. As he got closer she saw the concern on his face.

"What happened?" He then looked at Candace. "And who is this?"

"A friend." Michaela answered, not in the mood for introductions. She just wanted to lie down. "Ahk, is it all right for me to stay in your room for a while."

Michaela could see the question he wanted to ask in his eyes, but he just nodded. As the three of them walked, Michaela wondered what would happen to her. If she did die tonight what would Larry tell her parents? Michaela worried how her parents would react, but she was more concerned with how her sister would take it. Her sister looked up to her and she knew she would be devastated if she died.

Michaela could hear Candace and Ahkmenrah talking, but their voices sounded far away. She assumed Candace was filling in Ahkmenrah on what was going on.

The more she walked, the harder it became to breath so she was relieved when they finally reached Ahkmenrah's room and she was able to sit down.

Ahkmenrah kneeled next to her. "Will you be all right?"

Michaela nodded. "Just go help Larry."

Ahkmenrah seemed reluctant to go, but he stood and made his way out of the room with Candace. Before leaving the room, Ahkmenrah stopped and spoke to his jackals. Michaela didn't know what was said since he spoke Egyptian, but she figured he said something about them making sure the pirates didn't come in. She wasn't sure, but it was nice to think about.

Candace and Ahkmenrah left Michaela in the Egyptian room while they went to go help Larry with the pirates.

Candace glanced back. "I hope Michaela will be all right."

"She will be fine. I told my jackals to protect her."

Candace turned her attention back in front of her. "You know, when I woke up this morning this was not how I thought my night would go. I thought Michaela was joking when she said the museum comes to life."

"Yes, I imagine it is hard to believe. Will Michaela be all right?"

"To be honest, I don't know. I don't think she got the full dose of the poison so she has some time. Exactly how much time, though, I can't say. Finding a cure will be tricky. I doubt any shop around here will sell it."

Ahkmenrah was silent. He didn't want to think about what would happen if they couldn't find a cure. He and Michaela had a rough start to their relationship, but he considered her a very good friend and he would do whatever he could to help her.

The young pharaoh was so caught up in his thoughts that he hadn't realized Candace stopped walking until she said his name. He looked back at her.

"Don't you think it's a little too quiet?"

Ahkmenrah listened. Indeed, it was quiet. With how rowdy the pirates were, he found it suspicious that they weren't making any noise. Had Larry found a way to lock them up? He wasn't sure, but he did not like this silence.

"Let's go." Ahkmenrah said as he began walking; Candace followed.

They made their way to the diorama room. Ahkmenrah was about to walk in, but when he turned the corner he saw the pirates and quickly backed up, knocking into Candace as he did.

"What was that for?" Candace asked.

"Sorry, but the pirates are in there." Ahkmenrah poked his head around the corner, careful not to be seen. Larry, Teddy, and Sacagawea were tied up as the pirates surrounded them. Where did they find rope, Ahkmenrah wondered.

"So, what do we do?" Candace, who had also poked her head around the corner, asked.

Ahkmenrah scanned the room. Not seeing who he was looking for, he pulled back, turned, and began walking with Candace close behind.

"We need to find the Huns." Ahkmenrah said.

"I'm sorry, did you say Huns?"

"Yes. They can help."

Candace sighed. "I have a feeling this is going to be a long night."

Michaela sat behind the sarcophagus, wondering what was going on. She bawled up her fist, hitting the ground, which turned out to be a bad idea as pain shot up her arm. Rubbing her hand, she couldn't help thinking how useless she was. Here she was poisoned while everyone else was fighting the pirates. Blowing in the pouch wasn't a good idea, but normal people wash things before they donate them.

Michaela sighed as she closed her eyes. There was no point in thinking about what happened, she couldn't change it. The only thing she could do now was wait and hope the others were doing all right.

Light made Michaela open her eyes. She was in a room, sitting behind a sarcophagus, there shouldn't be that much light. When she did open her eyes, she saw the tablet glowing.

Michaela stood up. Why would the tablet be glowing? Not knowing why, Michaela touched the tablet. Michaela shut her eyes as a blinding light flooded the room. When the light faded and she opened her eyes, her eyes widened. She was no longer in the Egyptian room. She wasn't even in the museum. It was the place she had dreamed of last night.

Michaela took a few deep breaths. She had no idea what was going on. Maybe she passed out and was dreaming again. Yeah, that had to be it. She closed her eyes.

"I'm going to count to three and then I'll wake up. One. Two. Three." Michaela opened her eyes and gave an exasperated sigh when she saw she was in the same place.

The sound of footsteps made Michaela turn around. If this was a dream then maybe she would wake up when the person came into the room just like before. Michaela held her breath as she waited.

This time, however, she did not wake up. This time, she was able to see the person walk into the room. Aside from her skin and hair being a bit darker, she looked almost like Michaela.

Michaela had never met this person before, but she knew who it was. "Kiya."
