so I was thinking I would add this mini chapter until I finish the next one! did I mention that kyosuke and the sound nin were a product of my friend sarah's imagination? I promised I'd put them in the story. please review! ^-^
it was so hard to see her and not be near her. to watch her grow from a distance. sweet spunky cute little Hikage. it was hard to watch her through the eyes of her summoning creatures. dragonflies. they were perfect. unnoticeable. common enough to be sneaky.
Hikage was so cute. she was so full of life and color. sanami loved her. when the clan was obliterated she was the only one left to take care of her helpless sister. sanami decided to leave the compound because it was so eerie and saddening to think that everyone else was gone forever.
Hikage looked up at her with big innocent eyes. for one so small she seemed so strong. she was only five, but she ran around desperate to contribute somehow. she had created a shadow clone for the first time a week ago. just one, but she worked so hard and she was only five...
their parents would have been proud of Hikage. she screamed will of fire at anyone who would listen.
now, however sanami was a solid mile ahead in a thick forest, with Hikage running after her, trying with all her might to catch up. she wore training weights under her cute lavender leg warmers. her small legs pumped as she charged after her, the tears streaming down her red little cheeks as both of the child's hands reached out to her big sister as she ran at top speed.
"sanamiiii! sanami nee chan! please! don't leave me! please!" she almost couldn't understand her baby sisters high pitched pleas as she was panting and wracked with little hiccups and keening cries.
sanami didn't even pause in her stride. what did make her pause was the sudden heat behind her. she turned to see roaring flames devouring the forest, and poor tiny, five year old Hikage was running through the burning forest to reach her. she wanted to stop. she wanted to turn back for her sister. she didn't. she tried to speak out to her. no sound escaped.
'stop it, you'll get hurt.'
"(cough) please! (hack) sanami nee chan! wait!"
'go back, Hikage. don't follow me anymore'
round misty silvery green eyes begged for her help. sanami didn't so much as slow down. she left her sister alone to burn to death in the forest. eventually the sounds of the child's screams faded. sanami stepped into an empty clearing. the sight before her caused her to stop dead in her tracks. it was Hikage again, but this time it was the version she had only seen through the eyes of her dragonfly spies. a sixteen year old Hikage stood a little taller than herself perhaps. she glared icily at sanami.
"I hate you." sanami flinched at her tone.
"you left me!"
'I'm sorry'
"I will never forgive you."
'i'm so sorry I never wanted to hurt you I don't want you to hate me'
"you don't care about me. your selfish and if I ever see you I'll kill you!" there was no mistaking the utter loathing in her sisters gaze. she was trembling with rage.
'that's not true. I love you'
"isn't something missing? don't you even miss me?" this was so much worse than anger. she was crying again. sanami wanted to cry too.
'I miss you every day'
"liar! if I never see you again it'll be way too soon." this time it was Hikage who walked away. she walked away angry and sanami wished she'd come back.
sanami bolted upright in bed. after taking in her surroundings the twenty six year old woman flopped back down. she didn't regret leaving konoha, she was a lot happier now than she had ever been in the leaf. it had been so many years and yet she still felt a connection to the sister she had left behind to pursue her goal. but that didn't mean she would allow that 'connection' to stand in her way. she was on a more important journey than anyone had ever been on and if some had to be sacrificed for her to get what she wanted, then so be it.
still... her little spies brought news of little Hikage every day. she had gotten quite strong hadn't she? perhaps the time was approaching. the time for the murakami sisters to be reunited.
after all, a shinobi as powerful as Hikage would make a useful, albeit expendable pawn.
sanami had plans, and Hikage was either going to help or sanami was going to have to keep her out of the way. and she wasn't above killing her to do it.
