Here's a new chapter. Hope you enjoy sorry if it's slightly boring and poorly written I'm trying to write this in the car.
Kate woke up to a warm hand on hers she opened her eyes to see Maddie standing in front of her clutching her Rarity plushie in one hand and her American girl doll in the next. She looked up at the clock, 3:16am.
"Maddie what's wrong." Kate asked sitting up, just then there was a flash of lightning and the thunder struck making Maddie let out a small yelp.
"The loud noise and the bright light scaring you?" she asked gently.
Just then Castle stirred next to her.
"You know that loud noise is called thunder. It happens when the rain clouds play with bumper cars and they bump so hard that they create a bright light." He said tickling the girl.
"Can I sleep with you tonight?" She asked scrunching her nose slightly.
"Sure sweetie." Kate said lifting her onto the bed.
She wrapped her hand securely around the girl making sure that she felt safe and less than 10 minutes later the girl was out like a light.
The next time Kate woke up the bed was empty both Castle and Maddie were missing she carefully got off of the bed and made her way into the kitchen where they were in the kitchen. Castle holding Maddie's who was holding the spatula.
"Hey." She greeted.
"Hey, breakfast's almost done." He told her while flipping one of the pancakes.
"We're making pancakes." Maddie yelled cheerfully.
"Oh and Esposito called, he said that Grant's alibi checks out but Lanie called and told us that the phone had another finger print was on the phone belongs to a Raymond East Ryan and Esposito are on their way to pick him up.
"Oh great, another dead end." Kate groaned.
"But you got another lead." Castle tried cheering her up.
"I guess but I thought that this case was finally over."
"Don't worry it will be soon." He encouraged.
"Mr East you have quite the rap sheet: Stealing, assault, attempted murder. You do know why you're here right?"
The buff long haired man was sat back in his seat.
"Murder and for being dumb and handing my employer the girl's phone without wearing gloves."
"So you're admitting that you had Emily's phone?" Kate asked flipping the file closed.
"I never said I didn't have it."
"Did you kill Emily?"
"Yes, but I needed the money because my son is sick and he needs surgery and when she came to me I thought it was a good idea at the time." Raymond cried.
Kate's eyes flew open and she looked at the man in front of her closely. "Mr East you are aware that you have just confessed to murder right?"
"Yes."
"Did you know Emily?" she asked.
"No." His answers were short but precise.
"Then why'd you kill her?"
Raymond rolled his eyes. "Oh gee I don't know maybe someone hired me?" he said sarcastically.
"Who hired you?"
"Sorry sweetheart, can't tell you that."
Then the police came in holding a pair of hand cuffs. "Raymond East you are under arrest for the murder of Emily small."
"What's the matter Kate you found the killer."
"But not who hired him. It's like we haven't found them at all." She argued as they ate their lunch.
Just then a lady who Kate recognized as one of Emily's work colleges walked up to the table nervously playing with her fingers.
"Detective I think I have something that can help you find Emily's murderer." she announced
"She came to the office like three times a month they always had a lot to talk about but they were whispering and when ever you asked Emily what they were talking about she would get all defensive. At first I just thought she was being secretive but then the woman started coming more often but never to get her hair done, just to talk then last week they were arguing."
Kate scribbled some notes onto her note pad before continuing. "Did you hear what they were arguing about?"
"Yea but not much all I heard was Emily saying that she wanted to quit and it was going too far and she couldn't do it anymore." The girl mumbled softly.
"Do you think you could describe this woman's face to a sketch artist?"Kate asked.
"Um yea I think I could."
"Thank you for your help your information was very useful."
Kate walked into Castle's office where he was typing a new chapter of Nikki Heat's life story.
"Maddie's Out?" He asked.
"Like a light." She answered before dropping her head her hands were shaking and she nervously tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her ear.
"Is something wrong? Is it the case?" His face was serious and he had ceased his typing.
"Actually no, it's about us adopting Maddie."
He stood up and took a step towards her. "You're not changing your mind are you"
Her eyes widened and she quickly raised her hand. "No No No Not at all I was just saying that we should start filling out the paper work. I mean it is Christmas the busiest time of the year and we need to get a start on it."
"Oh good because I was thinking the same thing and so I got a head start." He stood up and walked over to the book shelf taking down a thick file. "I already filled out the paperwork and all it needs is your signature."
Kate smiled and walked up to him wrapping her arms around his neck. "Oh Castle that's great it's just what we need I can't wait for us to officially be a family."
He kissed he softly. "Me too we can finish and send it in tomorrow for now let's go to bed by tomorrow we find out who hired Raymond."
