Rhydian's POV
Shock flickered across Whitewood's face, but she quickly regined her composure. I wanted to relax, this must be what Mr & Mrs S meant by getting Wolfbloods in power, but I was still really tense. She was still here, the woman who broke my pack apart, the only real family I had ever had. The Vaughns were great and all but my pack understood me, understood what I am.
"Melissa, there must be some mistake. I called you here to take them away they're the creatures..." Whitewood spluttered, clearly not taking in the golden eyes of the woman infront of her. Melissa growled, showing her teeth, Whitewood stumbled backwards into the door frame. Two other men in black suits appeared behind her and guided her outside.
"Leave her to us, you guys can live in peace now. From her a least," Melissa smiled as she followed the men out of the door, giving one last smirk to Mr & Mrs S as she went. As soon as the door shut everyone let out a sigh of relief. It was silent for a moment or two before Shannon started squealing, pulling Maddy into a bone-crushing hug.
"You can stay!" she cried happily at the top of her voice. Tom started doing a little happy dance that him and Shannon came up with ages ago. Tom wrapped his arms around the girls, they realeased slightly and Maddy pulled on my arm, wanting me to join them. Groups hugs werenever my scene, espeacially happy group hugs.
"Mads...no..." I protested as she pulled me into the middle of the hug. I soon started laughing at the rest of them jumping in a circle. Ceri looked completely lost but when Jana started laughing, she smiled as well. Mr & Mrs S smiled, holding onto eachother watching their cub jump around happily, carefree for the first time in weeks. Eventually the group hugging and squealing stopped, Shannon had the biggest grin on her face. I wrapped an arm around Maddy's shulders and smiled aswell.
"Celebratory Hog Roast?" Mrs S suggested, causing another round of happy squeals and laughter.
Jana and Ceri began to get ready to leave after dinner. I had no doubt that I would be seeing them again, and I will miss them, but I was glad to see them go. Just this once. This was the sign that everything as okay, that it had been sorted. It was a relief to see Maddy staying where she was, not packing, not running but standing right by my side.
"Thank-you, Jana, for all that you have done, accepting us into your pack," Mrs S said. She may not haved like Jana to begin with, but I think everybody as moved past that now. She is no longer, 'Jana the stray Rhydian brought back from the wild', but 'Jana, their friend'. It made me happy that my two lives could coexist happily together.
"You will be welcome anytime," Jana replied hugging Maddy's parents. She turned to me and Maddy and a stern expression crossed her face. "You take care of eachother. never forget you will always find your way to one-another". Her expression faltered and she burst into giggles holding Maddy tightly in a hug with one arm and me in the other.
"Thanks Jana," I said as she relased us. Jana moved onto Tom and Shannon. Ceri walked up to Mrs S holding out her hand.
"Take care of my beautiful boy" she S nodded and hugged Ceri
"He will always be apart of our pack," they relased form their hug and looked a my hand intertwined with Maddy's, "More so I think now," Mr & Mrs S chuckled, Ceri eventually joining in. The eight of us ran outside to the edge of the Smith's property. We waved goodbye and howled as Ceri and Jana dissappeared into the trees, taking our time to wander back indoors.
The next day I knocked on he Smith's door Maddy answered with her school tie hanging loosy round her neck, looking for her other shoe. I noiticed it by the corner of the door and chuckled. She turned round sharply, a fake glare in her eye. I pointed to the shoe on the ground and she sighed as she pulled it on. Grabbing her bag from the railing she yelled goodbye to her parents and closed the door behind us. Running through the trees to school felt so good now that Maddy was running along side me. We darted round the trees and lept over fallen logs. Too soon we were at the green school gates, but Tom and Shannon were waiting for us at the edge of football field. The bell rang as soon as the four us got to the door. MrJeffries appeared in the doorway, hurring us all inside. A few people had noticed Maddy as she slipped inside but Mr Jeffries didn't notice until he read the register and left her name out s he had done for the past couple of days.
"Sir, you didn't say my name," Maddy said, raising her hand. The whole class gasped and turned to look at her, Mr Jeffries looked up from his desk in surprise.
"Right... yes, sorry about that. Good to have you back Miss Smith," he mumbled, causing a few giggles from the class. He soon began to read out the notices, but nobody ever really paid attenion. so the classroom emptied quicky when the bell for first lesson went. I held Maddy's hand as we walked down the corridor, Tom and shannon close behind us.
"I was thinking, maybe we could go for that date later," I said looking down at her.
"I'd love to" she smiled.
