Chapter 11: Confession
''Juvia wait, you've got something on your face.'' Gray said. He pulled out a napkin and wiped Juvia's cheek. Juvia smiled at him.
''Thank you, Gray-sama.''
''No problem.''
Gray had invited Juvia to a baseball game. He wanted to prove to Juvia that he was worthy of her trust. Now, he knows that taking her to baseball game might not be the best way to prove it, but it was all about taking it slow. He didn't want to do something to drastic that would ruin everything. No, he was going to take his time. He was not going to mess up this time.
Suddenly, the batter hit a home run and the ball was coming their way. Actually, it was heading for Juvia.
''Quick, Juvia catch it!'' Gray shouted.
''Huh? Ah!'' Juvia screamed as the ball headed in her direction. She raised her hands as a way to protect her face and the ball fell right into them. Gray jumped up.
''Yeah!'' he shouted, a goofy grin appearing on his face. Juvia blinked. She was confused. She didn't understand why he was so happy. All she did was catch the ball. Gray gripped her shoulders.
''Don't you get it? You just caught the ball! You should be happy!''
''Juvia... should be happy?'' Juvia repeated, her face contorted in confusion. Gray nodded fiercely.
''Yeah! You just caught the home run ball! That's amazing! C'mon, smile!''
Juvia was still confused but she smiled anyway. She didn't really understand the significance of catching a ball, but the look on Gray's face when she caught it made her forget about that. She loved to see Gray smile. It brightened his face and it made him look happier. And Juvia was glad that Gray was smiling because of her. It made her smile too.
Gray sat back down with a large smile plastered on his face. He wrapped his arm around Juvia's shoulder and pulled her close.
''I can't believe you caught that ball.'' he said.
''Juvia can't believe it either.'' Juvia whispered and leaned into Gray. This was nice. She could just close her eyes and get lost in this feeling. This is what Gray made her feel. He made her feel like she belonged. And that was the greatest feeling in the world.
Eventually the game came to a close and everyone filed out of the stadium. Gray and Juvia walked to Gray's car and got in. Gray put the key in the ignition and slowly pulled out of the stadium parking lot.
''Hey Juvia.'' Gray started, his eyes never leaving the road. Juvia turned to him.
''Yes, Gray-sama?''
''How about we go to the movies? There's this new movie that just came out that I realy want to see.''
''Oh, um, Juvia would love to go to the movies with Gray-sama, but she already made plans with Gajeel-kun.''
''Oh, alright.'' Gray said, trying to not to sound too disappointed. But Juvia heard it.
''Juvia is sorry.'' she mumbled.
''Oh no, don't be sorry. It's fine. I'm just glad that I get to spend time with you today. I can watch the movie another time.''
Juvia pouted. She felt bad for not saying yes. But already made plans with Gajeel and she didn't want to make him mad. Gray continued to drive until they reached Juvia's apartment complex.
''Hey, since I can't take you to the movies, can I at least walk you to you door?'' Gray asked. Juvia smiled.
''Sure.''
Gray and Juvia headed up the stairs to Juvia's apartment, which was on the third floor. They stopped at her apartment door. Juvia turned to Gray.
''Well, Juvia will see you later.'' Juvia smiled at him and started to pull out her keys. But before she could get them out, Gajeeel opened the door.
''Sup Juvia.'' he said casually. Juvia blinked.
''Gajeel-kun! How did you get in here?'' she asked. Gajeel rolled his eyes.
''You gave me a spare key, remember?'' Juvia blinked again before she started laughing.
''Oh yeah, Juvia did give you a key.'' Gajeel rolled his eyes again. Then he noticed Gray, who was still standing there. He frowned.
''Fullbuster.''
''Gajeel.'' Gajeel adverted his gaze back to Juvia.
''What is he doing here?'' he asked, trying, but failing, to keep the annoyance out of his voice.
''Oh, Gray-sama was just taking Juvia home.'' Juvia smiled. ''We went to a baseball game. Juvia even caught a home run ball! See?'' Juvia took out the ball and shoved it in Gajeel's face. Gajeel groaned and pushed the ball away.
''Damnit Juvia! Don't shove that thing in my face!'' he snapped. Juvia giggled.
''Juvia is sorry.'' she said, although she obviously didn't mean it. She turned to Gray and gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
''Juvia will see you later, Gray-sama.''
''Alright. Bye Juvia.'' Gray turned and left. Gajeel growled and pulled Juvia inside the apartment.
''Please tell me that you and Fullbuster are not back together.''
''Juvia and Gray-sama are not back together.'' Juvia told him. Gajeel sighed.
''Good. That bastard doesn't deserve you.''
Juvia sighed.
''Gajeel-kun, why don't you like Gray-sama? He isn't as bad as you think.''
Gajeel snorted.
''That's funny. And you know why I don't like Gray. He's an ass. He fucking broke your heart, just like I told you he would.'' Gajeel shook his head. ''And I just can't understand why you keep letting him hang around you. Juvia, he hurt you. So why do you still go back to him? Why can't you just let him go?'' Gajeel asked. Had this been anybody else, Gajeel wouldn't have cared so much. But this was Juvia. He loved Juvia, more than he loved anyone else(except Levy). He and Juvia have been through everything together. And he couldn't stand to see her hurt. And he knew that if Juvia kept letting Gray in, tears and pain were the only things she was going to get out of it. Gajeel saw how Juvia's last relationship went. He saw the aftermath. And he'll be damned if he is going to let that happen again.
Juvia didn't speak for a while. But when she did, Gajeel knew that she was speaking the truth.
''Gajeel-kun, trust Juvia. She knows what she is doing.''
Those words may not have been much, but they were all that Gajeel needed. Gajeel had faith in Juvia. Even though she had done some stupid things over the years, Gajeel never lost faith in her. So, when Juvia told him to trust her, he did. Juvia has never done anything to make Gajeel lose his trust in her, and he doesn't think that she ever will. He rubbed the back of his head and sighed.
''Fine. Now go make me some food. You're the only woman I can count on to make some good food. We both know that Levy doesn't make the cut.''
Juvia smiled and walked to the kitchen. She knew that Gajeel wouldn't press the situation anymore. And for that, she was grateful. She knew what she was doing.
Gray-sama isn't going to win Juvia back that easy. He has to work for it.

The rest of the week went by without any inccident. Juvia was currently lounging around her house, with Meredy right there with her. Meredy had called her two hours before, saying that she was coming over. They've been on the couch ever since. The t.v was on, but no one was paying attention to it. They only watched it absentmindedly, while chewing on a bowl of chips. No one had spoken for a while. It was Meredy that finally broke the silence.
''So Juvia, when can I see Lyon again?''
Juvia shrugged.
''Juvia doesn't know. Come to think of it, Juvia hasn't heard from Lyon-san in a while.''
Meredy sat up.
''Oh? Why is that?'' she asked, turning so that she was facing Juvia.
''Juvia doesn't know. She's kind of worried, actually.''
Meredy grinned.
''Oh, you're worried. How cute!'' Meredy clapped her hands excitedly. Juvia sighed.
''Juvia is just concerned. That is nothing to be excited about.'' she responded dully. Meredy pouted and crossed her arms.
''What is the matter with you? You're usually never this...'' Meredy waved her hands, trying to find the right word. ''Oh! Gloomy! I've never seen you this gloomy.''
''Juvia doesn't know what you're talking about.''
Meredy scowled.
''Bullshit. You know exactly what I'm talking about. What's wrong?'' Meredy asked, her voice full of concern. Juvia sighed again. She turned the t.v off and faced Meredy.
''Do you think that Lyon-san likes Juvia? As more than a friend?'' This caught Meredy off guard.
''Why are you asking?'' Meredy questioned. She had no idea where this conversation was going.
Juvia bit her lip.
''Well, Juvia had an argument with Gajeel-kun not too long ago. And Gajeel-kun said something that Juvia just can't shake. He said that...'' Juvia paused and cleared her throat. ''He said that Lyon-san liked Juvia. Like as in...''
''More than just a friend.'' Meredy finished. Juvia nodded.
''Do you think that he's right?'' she asked, keeping her eyes locked on the floor. Meredy rubbed her arms, unsure of what to say. She never saw this coming. Meredy opened her mouth, but she quickly shut it afterwards. She really didn't know what to say. But she knew that she had to say something.
''I don't know. But... if Lyon does like you, what would you do?''
''Juvia has no idea. She never even thought about Lyon-san liking her until Gajeel-kun pointed it out. And now she can't get it out of her head.'' Meredy scratched the back of her head.
''Well, do you like Lyon back?'' she asked.
''Juvia doesn't know.''
Meredy sighed in annoyance.
''Ok, this conversation is going nowhere. Do you like Lyon or not?'' Meredy asked again, this time with more force. Juvia sighed.
''Maybe.''
''Well, at least that's a start.'' Meredy muttered. She placed her hand on top of Juvia's and smiled. Juvia looked up at her.
''Listen, Juvia. I don't know how Lyon feels about you. The only person that knows how he feels is him. So don't stress, ok? If Lyon likes you, then he will tell you. If he doesn't, then you have nothing to worry about. So don't make yourself go crazy. That's not going to end well for anyone.'' Meredy said. Juvia smiled.
''Thank you, Meredy.'' she whispered. Meredy grinned.
''What are friends for? Now c'mon, turn the tv back on. I want to see the end of the movie. You know I love X-men.''

Juvia stood outside the ice skating rink, shifting her feet every once and a while. Lyon had invited her to the local ice skating rink. Juvia agreed, of course. She always wanted to ice skate.
But now, here she was waiting for Lyon, who was supposed to be here ten minutes ago. And it wasn't like him to be late. But before she could really worry, she saw Lyon jogging up to her. He smiled at her.
''Sorry. The traffic was really bad.'' he said. Juvia smiled.
''It's ok. Let's just go inside.''
Lyon nodded and together they walked inside. Juvia shivered at the cold. Lyon had told her to dress warm because it was going to be chilly in here. So Juvia wore her big fur coat, leggings, gloves and her ugg boots. But even with all this on, she still felt somewhat cold. Lyon gently tapped her shoulder.
''Let's go get our skates.'' he said. Juvia nodded and followed him to the front desk where a young woman with bright red hair was handing out skates. She smiled at the two of them.
''What sizes?'' she asked, her smile never leaving her face.
''Size 12.'' Lyon told her. The girl nodded and turned to Juvia.
''And what about you miss?''
''Size 7 please.'' Juvia said. The girl nodded again and handed them their skates. Lyon thanked her and told Juvia to follow him to one of the benches.
''Juvia has never been ice skating before.'' Juvia said as they were putting on their skates. Lyon turned to her.
''Oh? Well, I've only been ice skating once and that was with my mother.'' Juvia giggled.
''Aw, that's so cute!'' Lyon blushed.
''Yeah, she said so too. Now come on, let's get on that ice.''
Juvia nodded and slowly walked towards the ice. Lyon was already on the ice, waiting for her. He was standing perfectly still with no difficulty. Juvia stepped on the ice carefully, trying very hard not to fall. She waited a few seconds, trying to find her balance. She grinned when she managed to stand up straight without falling.
''Yay! See, Lyon-san? Juvia can- Oh!'' Juvia wobbled and started to fall. She expected to land face first when two strong arms wrapped around her waist and held her steady. Juvia looked up to see Lyon staring down at her.
''You okay?'' he asked. Juvia nodded, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink.
We're so close. She thought as she took in their position. Lyon had his arms wrapped around her waist and Juvia was practically leaning into his chest. They had never been this close before. At this angle, Juvia could get a very good look at Lyon's face. And what a handsome face it was. Juvia shook her head. Now was not the time to be think of that. Lyon chuckled and removed his hands from her waist.
''I think maybe we should stay together.'' he said and took ahold of her hand. Juvia nodded again.
''Yeah, Juvia thinks so too. Thank you, Lyon-san.'' she mumbed. Lyon smiled.
''It's alright. I couldn't just let you fall. What kind of man would I be then?'' Juvia smiled.
''Not a very good man.'' she said. Lyon laughed.
''Ok. Now, I want you to hold my hand tightly. We wouldn't want you to fall again.''
Juvia giggled and gripped Lyon's hand tightly. Together they skated on the ice. Lyon was careful not to go too fast, he didn't want Juvia to fall. After some time, he began to pick up speed. Juvia laughed as her hair blew in her face. She was having so much fun. Lyon looked back at her with a smile.
''You having fun?'' he asked. The only response he got was Juvia's laugh.
''I'll take that as a yes.'' he said. Suddenly, an idea came to him and his eyes glinted with mischief. He let go of Juvia's hand, causing her to wobble. But before she could fall, Lyon grabbed her by the waist and lifted her off the ground. Juvia gasped.
''Lyon? What are you doing? Lyon!'' Lyon grinned.
''Hold on!'' he said and started to spin around in circles. He kept a firm grip on Juvia's waist and watched as her facial expression went from one of shock to one of joy. Juvia raised her arms and laughed wholeheartedly.
''This is so much fun!'' she shouted, her mouth curving up into a wide grin. She didn't care if the other people were staring at her. She was just so happy. Juvia and Lyon skated around the rink for another hour or so before they left.
''Wow, that was so much fun! Thank you Lyon.''
''There's no need to thank me. I was happy to take you here. And besides,'' Lyon leaned in close to Juvia's face. ''That happy look on your face was thanks enough.'' Juvia blushed and looked away. Meredy's words from yesterday suddenly popped in her mind.
If Lyon likes you, then he will tell you. If he doesn't, then you have nothing to worry about.
Juvia nodded. Meredy was right. If Lyon really did like her, then he will tell her in his own time. It would not do her well to drive herself crazy thinking about it. She just had to calm down and not think about it. Juvia looked up when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
''Do you want to go to the park with me?'' Lyon asked. Juvia nodded.
''Yes.''
Lyon smiled and the two of them headed to the park.

''So, Juvia will see you tomorrow?'' Juvia asked. She and Lyon were standing outside of her apartment.
''Yes, of course.'' Lyon replied. Juvia nodded.
''Ok, bye Lyon-san.'' Juvia twisted the doorknob and was about to walk in but Lyon grabbed her wrist, stopping her.
''Juvia wait.'' Lyon said. Juvia turned around.
''Yes?''
Lyon licked his lips. He has to tell her. He can't wait anymore. Spending all day with Juvia, Lyon knew that he couldn't wait another day to tell Juvia about his feelings for her. He just hoped that he was doing the right thing by confessing.
''Lyon-san?'' Juvia whispered. Lyon stared directly into her eyes.
''I need to tell you something, Juvia.'' he said. Juvia nodded slowly.
''Ok, what is it?'' she asked, taking note of their closeness. She didn't know what as going on, but she had a feeling that whatever Lyon was about to say was going to change everything. Lyon sighed and let go her wrist.
''I... Juvia, I have feelings for you. I didn't want to say anything before because I was worried about ruining our friendship. But I can't let another day pass by without telling you how I feel. Juvia, I know that we have only known each other for a few months, but for some reason, I feel connected to you. I don't know why, but I just feel it. So I wanted to get to know you. And you are such a wonderful person, Juvia. You make me laugh and smile and I just love being around you. You make me feel something that I felt in a while. And I... I think I'm falling in love with you. And I know that you still aren't over Gray yet, so I'm not going to force you to accept my feelings. I just wanted you to know how I felt. And I just hope that someday you'll feel the same.''
Lyon leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on Juvia's lips. He pulled away with a small smile on his face.
''I guess I'll see you... whenever. Bye Juvia.'' Lyon waved and walked away. Juvia watched him leave, shocked at what he just said. Juvia opened her apartment door and stumbled in. She fell onto the couch in complete shock. She placed a finger on her lips.
Lyon has feelings for Juvia. He has feelings for Juvia. He has feelings for Juvia. Juvia's mind was a scrambled mess. Her heart was pounding against her sternum so loudly that she could almost hear it. Juvia placed a hand on her chest and she could feel it. The beating of her heart. She was surprised that she could even breathe properly, with how fast it was beating. And all because Lyon had kissed her. Lyon had kissed her. It wasn't a long kiss. No, it was short and sweet and gentle. But it had all the passion of a man in love.
Lyon was in love with her. And Juvia didn't know what to do about it. She didn't even know how she felt about Lyon. And there was another problem. Gray. Juvia loved Gray. They were just starting to get along and then this happens. And now Juvia doesn't know what to do. But there was one thing that Juvia was sure of.
When Lyon had kissed her, she felt something. And that something made her feel light. Like she could float on air. That something made her want to laugh and smile and jump up and down. But Gray made her feel that way as well. Juva groaned and put her head in her hands.
She was very, very confused.

Oh, looks like Lyon finally admitted his feelings!
From here on out things will start to get interesting.
