Chapter 11

(The next day at school, Bay is at her locker putting what she needs in her book bag. As she is about to shut her locker, she notices a picture she was surprised she still had. She hadn't looked at the picture in what felt like an eternity. She sighs deeply and briefly looks down before facing the photo again. After staring at it for a minute, a small smile crept up on her face. It was a photo of Emmett on his motorcycle with Bay behind him wearing a helmet, both smiling. She thought she remembered Daphne taking the photo, but it was so long ago, she wasn't completely sure)

(She continued to stare at the picture and knew one thing. She and Emmett needed to talk again. Yes, they talked before, but it ended up being about Emmett's family. Of course, Bay also knew that topic needed to be explored. Now that it was, she needed to talk to her ex about what split them up. Did she want to? Not really, but she knew it needed to be done. Bay wasn't completely sure it would accomplish anything. However, she knew this conversation was long overdue. As much as she didn't want to admit it, she missed Emmett. She missed his stories. She missed all the photos he took that he would show her. She even missed the ones he would take of her that she didn't exactly like, but he told her they were cute. She wanted him to burn them, but he smiled and signed 'not a chance'. She jokingly vowed to get even. The pictures weren't sexual or anything, but she didn't like the way she posed. Yet, of course, Emmett always told her she was beautiful)

(Bay gets caught staring at the photo by her brother)

Toby: "You know, if you keep your eyes glued to the photo, you're going to hurt them."

Bay: (sarcastically) "Ha-ha."

(Bay closed her locker, yet it was obvious to Toby she wasn't quite ready to turn away from it)

Toby: "Are you sure you don't want to marry it?"

(Bay glares at her brother in annoyance)

Bay: "Shut up."

Toby: (shrugs) "You're the one that won't forget about his picture. I'm surprised you still have it."

Bay: (sighs) "I forgot I still had it."

Toby: "Interesting."

(Bay gets fed up with his cat and mouse game and gives him her full attention in a not so happy way)

Bay: "Spit it out."

(Toby looks at her in confusion)

Toby: "Spit what out?"

Bay: (folds her arms) "It's obvious you have something to say. Say it."

Toby: (shrugs) "It's clear you still have feelings for him being you didn't touch his picture that's in your locker."

(Bay was tempted to deny it, but she knew it was no use because whether she liked it or not, he could read her like a book. At least in this moment)

Bay: "Okay, so I still have feelings for Emmett. What would you like me to admit to now?"

Toby: (shakes his head) "Nothing. I just wanted you to admit to what you already feel."

Bay: (weirdly) "You know, for someone who had a bone to pick with Emmett recently, you quickly changed your tune. What gives?"

Toby: (glares at her) "You know, believe it or not, I do want you to be happy."

Bay: (raises her eyebrows) "And if down the line it involves Emmett, it won't piss you off?"

(Toby looks away from Bay)

Toby: "I didn't say that."

Bay: "So, you DO still have a bone to pick with him."

Toby: "Let's just say..." (looking at Bay) "I'm trying to make peace with it."

Bay: (shrugs) "Fair enough."

(Bay notices someone coming their way and it's clear the person saw Bay looking at them)

Bay: "Speaking of trying to make peace...here comes a not so favorite person of yours."

(Toby turns his head to see who she is talking about, revealing Simone)

Toby: (sighs deeply) "Oh, goody."

Bay: "I had the privilege of speaking to her. Now, it's your turn."

(Toby glances around the hall before facing his sister in a slight panic)

Toby: "Are there any escape routes nearby?"

Bay: (chuckles dryly) "Sorry, Toby. If I had to face her, so do you. Minus well get it over with."

Toby: (rolls his eyes) "Gee, thanks."

(Simone finally reaches the siblings and offers a slight smile, although it's clear she's nervous)

Simone: "Hey, guys."

Bay: (chuckles sarcastically) "Yeah, I'm outta here."

(Toby tries to signal for Bay to stay, but he knew it was hopeless. He faces Simone and it was clear he was not in the mood to talk)

Toby: (sighs) "Alright, it's obvious you have something to say. Say it so I can leave."

Simone: (sighs in defeat) "You, too, huh?"

Toby: (confused) "What do you mean?"

Simone: (shrugs) "Bay, Emmett, and Daphne are all giving me the cold shoulder. I was hoping you wouldn't."

(Toby looks at Simone in shock before he starts laughing)

Toby: "Simone, if you think I'm going to forgive and forget, especially when it comes to you, you have another thing coming." (scoffs) "Not only did you cheat on me, but you hurt Bay, who you were friends with at one time."

Simone: (defensively) "Oh, please, Toby, don't act like you've never done anything wrong in your life. How many damn times do I have to say I'm sorry to everyone?"

Toby: "There is a difference between you and me, Simone."

Simone: "What's that?"

Toby: "With the way you act, you will hook up with anyone. Me? I won't. Any time spent with you was a big mistake."

Simone: "It didn't stop you from going out with me."

Toby: "Like I said, big mistake. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to get to class."

Simone: (weirdly) "The bell didn't ring yet."

Toby: (nods) "I know, but I just want to get away from you."

Simone: (scoffs) "Jerk."

Toby: "Bitch."

(Toby walks away from Simone. She looks at him with an angry face. At Carlton, Daphne and Emmett have just finished with their first class. As they walk to their lockers, they discuss what's been going on)

Daphne: "So, you have a plan?"

Emmett: (smiles) "Yep."

Daphne: (winces) "Do I dare ask?"

Emmett: "I know I told Bay I would give her space and I've given it. We got a few things sorted out. We need to talk more about everything, though."

Daphne: "If she'll let you."

Emmett: (sighs deeply) "We need to get everything out in the open."

Daphne: (raises her eyebrows) "Even if she spends the whole time yelling at you?"

Emmett: "If it means us getting everything talked out, I'm okay with that."

Daphne: (sighs) "Look, I want you two to get everything out in the open. Believe me, I hope you guys do. Just please, don't go too fast. I learned the hard way with her that it doesn't accomplish anything to pressure her. But I do have to admit she wants to talk to you, as well."

Emmett: (nods & smiles) "Don't worry. I have no intention of pressuring her. I just hope she feels the same way I do. In the end, we're not going to get anywhere if we don't take about everything."

(Emmett looks away for a second before facing Daphne in hopefulness)

Emmett: "But something tells me she wants to talk, as well."
