When I wake, Toothless is wrapped around me. I try not to wake him as I get up, he does however wake.
Toothless begins "Did you-"
Rurr interrupts, "There you are Palax. I was worried when you weren't where you normally rest."
Still upset with him I fly away to find other guards I could talk with, and get the info I need. Rurr does follow me but doesn't say anything, understanding that I'm angry with him. Everything is going on as planned. The Dragon Hunters are still heading this way, and haven't turned away.
I go and find Hiccup, making sure to turn into my Viking self when I get there so he can understand when I talk to him.
"How would anyone know about my treasure?" I ask him.
He thinks about it a moment, "Someone must have come here before it was protected. I would need to know what the treasure does before I could tell you if we have any legends about it."
I look away from him. "I… I don't know… Even my mother didn't know. I haven't met anyone who does. It's powerful, but what it actually does is a mystery. It has to be bad if it's been protected for generations."
He nods in understanding. Toothless joins us. I think about his kindness last night; the thoughts end abruptly as discussion begins about protecting the island. Hiccup wants to put up a bunch of traps, just in case they get close. Then leading away from where the treasure is even more, so the Dragon Hunters would assume that whatever they have come looking for is that direction.
The next few days are a blur. The island has so many traps on it, its hard to remember where some of them are.
Rurr flies up to me. "The Dragon Hunters are here. The attack needs to begin."
I breath in deep, and fly towards the advancing ships. Everything is going as expected; some dragons fall and I can only hope that they will be alright. Hiccup leads the charge more than I do, but he knows them better than I do.
When Astrid is spotted off one of the other coasts with the others, I turn into my human form and hop onto Rurr. I get Rurr to go to them, and I fill them in on Hiccups plans. They return to Hiccup with Rurr, as I begin to fly over the island watching out for ships coming from any other sides of the island.
Suddenly I spot something moving on the island partway inland. I fly down and turn to my human form so I can be stealthier. A few Dragon Hunters walk around searching: I recognize one as Viggo. In his hands the small chest that was once in Mildew's Hut.
Not sure whether or not leaving to tell the others is the best option I just watch them, letting any dragon nearby that Dragon Hunters are here.
