I do not own Once Upon a Time.
Grrness (new word) between Amelia and Regina, can these two ever get along? Amelia might even slip one day.
What constants did Amelia have in her life? There were her four pieces of jewelry; two from Killian, the bracelet from Derek and the disk from Benjamin. Pat of her wondered why her jewelry involved pain and failure? Then there were some new additions that connected to her old life. There was the ship window cling and the wolf throw blanket she had thrown across her couch. While her apartment did not scream fairy tale character, it had concealed hints to a darker and painful past. Her bookshelves were filled with adventure stories, now adventures were a thing of the past and she missed them. Something needed to change soon, this savior had to get to work. But what exactly was she supposed to do? Breaking the curse would only make everyone remember who they really are, hence bringing happy endings. It wouldn't bring them all home.
Home, that was a funny word now. Storybrooke had become home, while the Enchanted Forest seemed like a dream.
Amelia did not feel like she was in a rush to find Gold's son, he had waited three hundred years, what's a little while longer. The fact that the former bounty hunter had no clue where to start played the biggest role. Three hundred years their time or real time? This town had been frozen, what if the kid didn't come to this realm first? What did he didn't stay? There wasn't even proof that he was still alive.
The chances weren't in her favor. When were they ever though?
Her thoughts were interrupted when the library door was flung open. Amelia wasn't sure who to expect, but she had a book already held high to attack.
If Regina had been thinking clearly, she would have thought that action from the librarian suspicious. But instead, the mayor had other things on her mind. "Did you give her that book?"
Amelia wasn't even acting confused. "Did I give who what book?"
"Miss Blanchard…"
"Well, Madam Mayor this is a library. People take books out for free and return them when they are done…"
"The fairy tale book. She gave it to Henry because she thought he needed it. Now he thinks I'm the Evil Queen and he found her… everything is falling apart." Regina looked like she wanted to fall into a chair.
Evil Queen… well if the shoe fits… Wait, Henry had the storybook? He must know about the curse, the missing happy endings, that time was frozen. He was a smart kid; she knew he would figure it out eventually. That must have been how he found Emma and maybe he wanted to break the curse.
And that might explain why he hadn't come by the library recently. The storybook hadn't painted her in a very good light. Could he be afraid of her?
"I didn't give Mary Margaret any book." Amelia honestly answered.
"Are you sure?"
The words just came out of Amelia's mouth without her realizing. "Pretty sure I would remember something like that."
Regina stood up and stared Amelia down. "You would be surprised what people can forget, Miss Hunter." Then she left, slamming the door behind her.
Amelia had to be dreaming, that had to be the answer. She had not seen the clock hand move last night. It was late, she was tired… but she hadn't been drinking.
She needed coffee, that would fix everything. She entered Granny's, only slightly surprised to see Emma sitting at the counter, Graham was at a table.
"Morning, you're staying around longer?" Amelia greeted her, taking the stool next to her. She wanted answers.
"Yeah, I just want to make sure Henry is taken care of. What do you know about Regina?" Emma asked.
Amelia raised her eyebrows and locked eyes with Graham across the counter. She was unsure how to answer. "The mayor and I do not see eye to eye on… many things. She likes to rule the town with an iron fist."
"So the bigger they are, the harder they fall?"
"You said it, not me." Amelia sat down and ordered her usual latte. She would actually love the chance to settle a score with Regina but now was not the time.
"Good to know."
Ruby then placed a hot chocolate in front of a confused Emma. "Here you go."
"Thank you, But I didn't order that."
"Yeah, I know. You have an admirer." Ruby had a goofy grin on her face, her eyes went across the room. Both Emma and Amelia turned around to see Graham.
What was Graham doing? Amelia wondered. Next to her, Emma huffed. She took the mug and walked to the table. Amelia wished she was able to hear what was being said, but she didn't have super hearing.
Graham and Emma exchanged a few words then Henry popped up in the next booth.
"I sent it. I like cinnamon too."
Well that would explain it.
Emma looked at him confused. "Don't you have school?"
"Duh. I'm ten. Walk me?" He asked. Sometimes he sounded so young but there was something strong about him. Amelia wondered where he got that from.
Emma followed Henry out the door.
Graham appeared next to her. 'I didn't know you could be diplomatic when it came to Regina." He commented.
"I can fake just about anything, including sincerity." She answered with a grin.
"No, you can't. You wear your emotions, good and bad, on your sleeve. You would back sass the god of the dead given the chance."
Amelia bit back a grin, he knew her so well.
Amelia met up with Graham at the White Rabbit that night. "So how are things going between scary mommy and brand new mommy?"
"You mean between Regina and Emma. Just peachy. I think Regina framed Emma for stealing Henry's files from Doctor Hopper then Emma took a chain saw to Regina's apple tree."
Amelia actually snorted. "They are like children. The only one who is going to get hurt is Henry."
"That's what I told Regina.
Scary mommy and brand new mommy, lol
