The next day Bucky woke up and went up to the main floor. Steve was sitting at the table in the kitchen drinking coffee. Tony was somewhere, probably down in his lab same with bruce and Natasha and clint were most likely down in the gym and Thor was in asgard.
Bucky walked into the kitchen and got a cup of coffee and sat down across from Steve. hey Steve." Bucky said.
Steve looked at him "good morning, How was your date with Elizabeth last night?" Steve asked smirking.
bucky leaned back into his seat and smiled "it was great..yeah we are a um..couple now so.." Bucky said and took a drink of his coffee.
Steve smiled at his best friend "Thats great Bucky" Steve said.
"yeah..she's a great girl, She's funny, she's beautiful and she makes me happy when i'm around her." Bucky said smiling.
Steve chuckled. "yeah, Natasha does the same thing to me." Steve said and smiled
"yeah..i'm thinking about having her come over to the tower to meet everyone." Bucky said sounding a little unsure.
"that sounds like a great idea." Steve said and stood up. "i'm going for a run. Do you want to running to?" Steve asked Bucky
"no, not today pal. Sorry maybe another day." Bucky said apologizing.
"its okay, see you later." Steve said and left.
Bucky walked down to his floor and walked into the living room and sat on the couch. He pulled out his phone and dialed Elizabeths phone number.
"hello" Elizabeth answered.
"hey beautiful." Bucky said to her.
"hey Bucky." Elizabeth said in a cheerful voice. Bucky could tell she was smiling.
"do you have work today or anything?" Bucky asked her.
"no, im off for 2 days. why?" Elizabeth said.
"I was wondering if you wanted to come over and meet everyone then me and you can hang out." Bucky asked her.
"yeah, that sounds like fun." Elizabeth said.
"okay, i'll come pick you up in a few minutes. is that okay?" Bucky asked Elizabeth.
"yeah, thats fine. I got to get dressed and then i'll be ready." Elizabeth said.
"okay, see you in a when i get there." Bucky said
Elizabeth laughed and said "okay, bye."
Bucky hung up and put his phone in his pocket. He grabbed his jacket and keys and walked down to the garage. He got in his car and pulled out of the garage.
He pulled up in front of Elizabeth's apartment. He pulled out his phone and texted her letting her know he was outside. Bucky was standing outside the car when Elizabeth came out of the apartment.
"you really need to tell me what apartment you live in." Bucky said to her laughing.
"ill show you when you bring me home later or whenever." Elizabeth said and smiled at him
Bucky smiled back and opened the car door for her and he got in on the drivers side. Bucky turned on the car and started driving to the tower. Bucky looked over at Elizabeth. "you can turn the radio on if you like." He said to her.
"no, its fine." Elizabeth said and gave him a reassuring smile.
Bucky nodded "okay." He said and grabbed her hand and held. They held hands the rest of the way to the tower.
He pulled into the garage and they got out of the car. "okay so first we're going to go up to the main floor where all of the avengers hang out and introduce you to them and then we will go down to my floor and hang out. alright?" Bucky said to her while they were in the elevator.
Elizabeth nodded "yeah."
The elevator opened and they walked out. Everyone was in the living room watching tv. When they heard us walk in they turned around and looked at us. Natasha was the first to say something.
Natasha stood up and walked over to us. "Hey Elizabeth, its nice to see you. Its been a few years since the last time i seen you." She said to Elizabeth.
"yeah, its nice to see you too." Elizabeth smiled and said.
then Clint came over and introduced himself. "hello, im clint, nice to meet you." He said and shook her hand.
Then Tony, Thor and bruce came over and introduced themselves. Then Steve came over, which she already met. He came over and said Hi. Bucky and Elizabeth sat down with them and talked for a few minutes.
Bucky stood up and so did Elizabeth. "we're going down to my floor. see you guys later." Bucky said and started to walk away.
Elizabeth Smiled "it was nice meeting you guys." She said and left with Bucky.
They took the elevator down to his floor. They stepped out of the elevator and Bucky opened his door. They were holding hands when they walked into the house.
"this is nice place you have." Elizabeth said to Bucky and smiled.
"thanks, i do need to do a little more to it though." Bucky said.
"maybe some pictures on the walls would be nice." Elizabeth said and laughed.
"yeah, i agree with you." Bucky said and took off his jacket.
They walked over to the living room and sat on the couch. "so what do you want to do?" Bucky asked curiously.
"we could watch a movie." Elizabeth suggested.
"okay, you go ahead and pick a movie and i will make some popcorn." Bucky said and stood up.
"okay" Elizabeth said and walked over to a little shelf to pick a movie.
A few minutes later Bucky came back in with a bowl of popcorn. "what movie did you pick?" Bucky asked.
"oh,i saw the list of movies you had that you needed to watch so i just chose the first one on it." Elizabeth said and walked over and sat down on the couch next to Bucky.
Bucky nodded "yeah, i've been meaning to watch those. I got the idea from Steve, you know whenever someone makes a suggestion or something i'll write it down." Bucky explained.
"thats a good idea. does it help any?" Elizabeth asked and grabbed some popcorn from the bowl.
"yeah, it sort of makes things less confusing." Bucky said.
Elizabeth nodded in understanding. They both leaned back into their seat and focused on watching the movie. Slowly Elizabeth leaned onto Bucky and scooted closer to him. She didn't even know she did. At first Bucky tensed up a bit but slowly relaxed against her. He smiled to himself and put his arm around her. They both fell asleep during the movie.
A few hours later. Bucky woke up and seen that they were still in eachothers arms just in more of a sleeping position. He smiled and lightly shook Elizabeth's. "wake up." Bucky said to her.
She slowly opened her eyes and yawned and looked at the way we fell asleep. She looked at Bucky and blushed "did we fall asleep like this?" She asked.
"yeah" Bucky answered.
They laid like that for another few minutes. Then Bucky stood up. "Are you hungry? I can order some pizza or something." Bucky asked her.
Elizabeth stood up "yeah, pizza sounds good." Elizabeth said and smiled at Bucky
Bucky laughed. "okay. i'll be back." Bucky said and walked into the kitchen to order their food.
Elizabeth walked around his floor. She walked over to a little shelf in a hallway. Theres was a picture in a frame. She picked it up and examined it. It was a picture of Bucky and Steve. She heard footsteps behind her and turned around and seen Bucky. "is this you and Steve?" She asked holding up the picture.
Bucky walked over and looked at the picture with Elizabeth. "yeah, That was Steve before he got that super soldier serum. He was scrawny." Bucky said and chuckled.
"he looked a little different before he became Captain America." Elizabeth said smiling.
"yeah…" Bucky said and started pulling Elizabeth into the kitchen. "come on lets eat." He said and they sat down.
They ate and while they ate they laughed at each others jokes and she listened to all of Bucky's childhood stories that he remembered of him and Steve. Then when they were finished they went back to watching a movie on the couch and laying in the same position they when they woke up. They were watching a random show on tv. Bucky was absentmindedly running his fingers through Elizabeth's hair. She looked up at him with made him stop. "can i talk to you about something?" She asked sounding a little unsure.
When she asked that Bucky started to wonder what she wanted to talk about did he do anything wrong he thought. "yeah." Bucky replied and sat up.
"i just need to talk about this with someone and i feel that i can about it with you." she while looking down at the floor with a unhappy face.
Bucky noticed she looked unhappy. "you can talk to me anytime, okay. now what is it you want to talk about?" Bucky asked her.
Elizabeth took a deep breath "a couple of years, i was taken by Hydra and trained as an agent, i was apparently really good at what i did so they sent me on a missions and They made me kill people then they sent me on a mission to go undercover as a shield agent and gather intel, well i got caught by Shield and i told them everything of Hydra and they let me go, well i got lucky and Shield gave me a job and once Hydra found out about me and Shield they attacked Shield and they captured me and tortured me. I got away but i will never forget what happened, i have nightmares of them torturing me and everything Its just too much sometimes." Elizabeth said and a few tears fell down her cheeks. "im sorry for dumping all of this on you, i just needed to talk to someone." She said looking down and apologizing.
Bucky grabbed her chin and made her looked at him. "its okay, because i know exactly what you're going through Hydra they.." He hesitated "they wiped my memory every time i would remember something from my past and they caused me so much pain and i have nightmares just like you." Bucky said to her.
Elizabeth looked Bucky in shock, "oh my gosh, Bucky. I didnt know that." She said in shock.
"yeah, so i know what you're going through, so like i said if you ever need to talk, call me or come over and we can talk, im here for you." Bucky said and smiled trying to lighten her mood.
Elizabeth smiled "okay, that goes for you to, you can talk to me to." She said.
Bucky pulled her into a hug and they sat like that for a few minutes. Bucky switched to a laying down position and Elizabeth laid next to him on the couch. Elizabeth yawned and slowly fell asleep and the Bucky did the same and they stayed like that all night.
The next day Elizabeth slowly opened her eyes. The sunlight streamed through the windows. "Bucky..Bucky get up." She said shaking him.
Bucky groaned "mmm..what time is it?" He asked slowly sitting up.
Elizabeth looked at her phone "it's nine thirty." She said.
Bucky stood up and bent down and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. "you want some breakfast?" He asked.
Elizabeth smiled and stood up. "yeah."
Bucky walked into the kitchen "i hope you like eggs, because thats all i know how to make." Bucky hollered from in the kitchen.
Elizabeth laughed "eggs are fine." She said and walked into the kitchen.
Bucky turned around and leaned against the counter. "so what do you plan on doing today?" Bucky asked her.
"well, i kind of need to go home, so i can get some groceries and i have a few files to go through." Elizabeth said.
Bucky nodded "okay, i can take you home..umm..when when do you want to go home?" Bucky asker her while putting their food on the table.
"it doesn't matter" She said and sat down.
Bucky's phone started ringing. He stood up and went into the living room to get it. He picked up the phone and looked at the screen. It was Steve. "hello." Bucky said and walked into the kitchen
"Maria needs us at Shield, she found a location of a Hydra, she didn't say where they found it thought."
"okay, how soon do i got to be there?" Bucky asked him.
"she said she needs us there in twenty." Steve said with a professional tone.
"okay. ill be there in twenty." Bucky said and hung up the phone. He looked at Elizabeth "sorry, but duty calls. I got twenty minutes to get there." Bucky said with an apologetic look.
Elizabeth looked at him and smiled "it's okay." She said.
They quickly ate and Bucky put on his Shield gear and him and Elizabeth went down to the garage they got in the car and left. It didn't take them long to get to Elizabeth's house. Bucky walked Elizabeth up to her apartment. They walked up to the second floor and stood outside of her door.
"well here it is, now you know what apartment i live in." Elizabeth said and laughed
Bucky laughed too. "yeah…"
"i had fun yesterday." Elizabeth said and smiled
Bucky smiled back and stepped closer to Elizabeth. He pushed some hair out of her face. "you're beautiful, you know that." Bucky and smiled
Elizabeth laughed. Bucky leaned towards her and their lips met. Elizabeth wrapped her arms around his neck and he he put his hands on her waist, They continued to kiss like that for a moment and then they both pulled away to breathe. Elizabeth looked at Bucky and smiled.
Bucky pulled her into a hug. "i got to go Elizabeth." Bucky said.
Elizabeth pulled away from the hug and smiled at him. "okay. see you later or whenever." Elizabeth said.
"okay" Bucky said. He was about to walk away but he stopped and turned back around. "if you try to call me or anything and i don't answer i'm probably on a mission." Bucky said
Elizabeth nodded "okay."
Bucky walked back to her and gave her a quick kiss on lips. "i call you later if i have time...bye Elizabeth."
Elizabeth smiled and said "bye Bucky"
Bucky walked out of the building and got into his car and drove to shield. He got out of the car and walked into the building and up to the meeting room. All of the Avengers were there already. Bucky walked over to the table and sat down.
"What took you so long?" Steve asked him.
"I took Elizabeth home." Bucky simply replied.
Steve just nodded and looked towards the doorway when Maria Hill walked in.
Maria walked in and stood at the front of the room and turned on this big screen and a map showed up. "we found the destination of the Hydra base in colorado sooner than we thought we would so, thats your next mission, we've already been keeping an eye on them." Maria said and then zoomed in on the base.
"can you zoom in any closer on that?" Bucky asked.
"yeah." Maria said and zoomed in closer on the Hydra base.
Bucky got a closer look and pointed at it. "i know this place, i've been here." He said.
Maria looked at him and said. "how well do you know it?" She asked
"not that well. Why?" Bucky asked curiously
"because, we need to figure out a plan." Maria said.
"Tony stood up "i have a plan...attack." Tony said in a serious voice.
"no. Sit down Stark." Maria said with a loud tone.
"last time you said that It didn't go well." Steve said to Tony.
"just be quiet and think of a plan." Maria said.
Tony mumbled something and Maria rolled her eyes. "okay, Steve you got any kind of plan?" Maria asked.
"no…" Steve said and looked at Bucky when he started talking.
"theres no entrance in the back so we are going to have to go to the roof. We should be able to get in from there. Then one of us need to find the security room and take them out and also any guards that will set off any alarms. This is a small base so it shouldn't be hard to take down. we'll figure out who does what when we get there." Bucky said looking at everyone.
"sounds like a plan." Steve said.
"alright, We have our plan. The jet is ready. its up on the roof." Maria said and walked out of the room.
Steve stood up. "alright lets go." He said and started walking out of the room along with the other Avengers.
They went up to the roof where the jet was waiting. Clint and Natasha were the only ones out of the avengers that could fly a jet. So Natasha was the pilot. The rest of the avengers sat in the back. Natasha checked all the controls and communications with shield before she took off.
"hill this is romanoff i need the coordinates of the Hydrabase.." Natasha said into the bluetooth headset she was wearing.
"Sending them now." Maria replied. "Coordinates sent. Im going to be monitoring you guys from shield satellite." Maria said to Natasha.
Natasha turned on the engine of the jet."okay, and we are taking off..now"
Natasha turned on the engines and not even a second later they were in the air heading towards somewhere in colorado. In the back of the jet Tony and Bruce was engrossed in a conversation same with thor and Steve. Steve and Bucky was having conversations about their childhood.
Five hours later they made it to colorado and they were almost to the Hydra base.
"Theres about ten minutes until we land." Natasha announced into the headset.
They all started to gather their weapons and make sure they got enough ammunition. They Soon landed a little ways away from the Hydra base in the woods. Hulk and Thor stayed in the jet they were mainly there for backup just in case things got worse. Tony, Steve, Natasha, Clint and Bucky walked a mile and they made it to the base. They went through their plan one more time before they went in.
"okay, We're going to need someone to find the security room...Romanoff, can you do that?" He looked at her and asked.
Natasha nodded "yeah. I can do that." Then loaded her gun.
Bucky smirked "okay we need to get up on the roof , if theres not an entrance in the back." Bucky said.
They quietly snuck to the back of the building. There was a back entrance, but it was locked and the only way to get in was to hack into the security. Natasha walked up to it and put a device on it and in seconds the door unlocked and they were in the building. They snuck down a hall and stopped. Bucky turned around to look at them. "Romanoff go find that security room." Bucky pointed at her and said. "you guys follow me." Bucky said and started walking down the hall. They turned down another hall and there was a room to the left of them. There was four men and
all four had guns. Bucky looked at Clint and gave him a look. Clint knew what that look meant. He pulled out his bow and shot all four of them with his arrow's. He took them down before they could do anything. "alright lets go." Bucky said and continued down the hall. They stopped at a door Bucky looked into the window on the door "this is just a lab, nobody is in there. Lets go" Bucky said. They continued walking down a hall and stopped There was men walking up and down the hall holding guns.
"security guards." Bucky whispered.
alright lets just take them out." Bucky said and ran up to one and took him down. Steve threw his shield and knocked out two of them with it. Clint shot one with his bow and Tony he just shot him his repulsor.
"We really need Natasha to find that security room." Clint said looking at Steve and Tony.
"Natasha, have you found the security room yet.?" Steve said into his headset
"yeah, and this building is more than what we thought it was." Natasha said.
"what do you mean." Steve asked worriedly.
"theres a whole nother floor underground and its very big. I think this might be their main base." Natasha said in a worried tone.
"okay..umm..Tony you got missiles on that suit right?" Steve asked Tony.
"yeah." Tony replied.
"okay we're going to need those eventually."Steve said. "Thor, Bruce. We're gonna need you guys in here." He said into his headset. "romanoff where exactly are we?" He asked quickly.
"looks like you guys are on the floor where they do all experiments." Natasha said. "you guys should be heading down to the second floor because that were all the hydra agents seem to be." Natasha explained.
"okay lets go." Steve said and started heading towards a stairway.
They got down to the second floor and Hydra agents were everywhere. They must have somehow knew they were in the building because they were ready. Guns pointed at them. When they saw all the Hydra agents they stopped. There in front of them was maybe twenty Hydra agents.
An agent stepped up to the front and pointed a gun directly at Steve. "put the weapons down or i am going to shoot him." He spoke to everyone with a thick russian accent.
"thats not going to happen." Bucky said and stepped forward.
The hydra agents stared in disbelief. "Winter soldier" He said.
"Not anymore." Bucky said and shot the agent. He fell to the ground. The next thing they knew. They started shooting them. Steve was shot in the arm but he blocked the rest of the it with his shield. Tony shot them with his repulsor. That took down most of them. Clint shot them with his bow. Bucky was shot in shoulder. They eventually took them all down, But one was slightly alive still. He was standing up but he was all bruised and bloody.
"You made a big mistake attacking us. They're coming for you." He spoke weakly and fell to the ground. At that moment they heard footsteps from many men. They turned around and there was more than ten men this time. it was about thirty or more. They had serious weapons on their hands. At that moment Thor and Bruce showed up.
"bruce. it's time to get angry." Steve said loudly. "Thor,Tony, Clint, Bucky. you know what to do." Steve said.
They ran towards the agents, They punched and shot their way through the agents. Hulk caused massive destruction same with Thor. There was Hydra agents everywhere. Tony was blasting them with his repulsor.
"Natasha, we need you down here. Call for back up. These guys are giving us everything." Steve yelled into his earpiece.
"im on it." Natasha said.
Hydra agents were everywhere. This was definitely their main base. Bucky was shot in the.
"you shouldn't have came here winter soldier." one of the agents said and kicked Bucky in the ribs and shot him twice in the stomach and then once in the chest.
Steve watched Bucky fall to the ground. "Bucky.." Steve hollered and ran after him. Bucky was on the floor bleeding. "Bucky..Bucky..you're going to be okay. We got back up coming." Steve said slightly panicking. He didnt want to lose his best friend again. Steve looked down the hall and Natasha was running down the hall and shooting agents. She ran over towards Steve.
"what happened?" She asked while checking Bucky's wounds.
"i dont know i heard a scream and looked over and Bucky was falling to the floor." Steve explained panicking.
Natasha looked at Steve "its going to be okay back up is on the way, But we need to get out of here now. Shield coming with back up and they're blowing this place up." Natasha explained.
"okay. i'll get Bucky. You tell the others." Steve said and helped Bucky stand up.
Natasha told the other avengers and they hurried up to the first floor. They had some trouble on the way out, but they made it out. They were running towards there yet when they seen to shield jets fly above them.
"is everyone out?" Maria said through Natasha earpiece.
"yeah. Blow the shit up." Natasha said and they walked into the jet.
"we need to get him to shield now." Steve said to Natasha.
"i know..we're leaving now." She said and started the jet.
It took them three hours to get back to shield Because their jets are pretty fast. Bucky lost a lot of blood and he was unconscious. They rushes him into the building.
"We need a medic" Natasha hollered.
Some shield medical team rushed him up to a room and started to stitch him up and bandage him up.
"is he going to be okay." Steve asked.
"yes, thanks to the serum he has. He should recover quickly." The doctor said.
"can i go in and see him?" He asked.
"yeah go ahead." He said and walked away.
Steve entered the room to see a bunch of wires attached to Bucky and an iv in his arm and he could tell that he was heavily bandaged. Bucky was sleeping and Steve sat down in a chair next to him. He didn't talk or anything he just sat there. Then Natasha came into the room. She walked over towards steve and pulled a chair next to him.
"I was out there talking with the others...Do you think we should call Elizabeth and tell her what happened?" Natasha asked Steve
"Yeah..but how are you going to get her number?" Steve asked her.
"shes a shield agent. i'll just look in her shield file."
he nodded "okay." Steve said.
Natasha walked out of the room and to the front desk. "can you tell me what Agent Elizabeth greens phone number is" Natasha asked
"yes. just wait one moment agent Romanoff." She said and started typing something into her computer. "okay, i got it." She said and gave her the number.
Natasha dialed the number and waited for Elizabeth to answer
"hello" Elizabeth said into the phone.
"hey, this is Natasha. i need to tell you something." Natasha said.
"what is it ." Elizabeth asked nervous.
"its Bucky..he was injured on a mission." Natasha said.
Elizabeth gasped "is he okay? Where is he? How bad is his injuries?" Elizabeth said panicking.
"hey, calm down. Hes okay. He is here at shield on the medical floor." Natasha explained to her trying to calm her down.
Elizabeth took a deep breath. "okay. Im on my way." Elizabeth said and hung up. She hurried up and grabbed her purse and headed to shield.
