Chapter 11: Impossible

Blaine's POV

Things were starting to get weird. Yeah, I know that sounds weird coming from a vampire, but it's true. Kurt's been acting very strange lately. It started the day he had gotten off of the phone with his father. He seemed to go through a wide variety of emotions. I get that he was shocked and worried, but then the lust that emanated from him was awkward to say the least. I remember with perfect clarity one of his weirdest moments.

It was about 6 days ago. We were looking through the closet to see what clothes he wanted to wear.

"I think you should go with the blue shirt. It'll highlight your eyes." I said with a smile. Now usually when I comment on his looks, he's okay with it, but today I got silence. Then, it was like a light switch had been flipped on.

"No! It's all wrong. I don't want dark blue, I wanted navy! This is an outrage!" He yelled as he grabbed the shirt and threw it on the floor.

"I thought it looked fine." I said as I walked over to him.

"No! It's, it's... I don't know... I feel like I'm losing my mind. And I have the worst headache." He said as he went to sit down.

"I'll go get the aspirin." I said. I flashed out of the bedroom to the bathroom, grabbed the bottle and returned. What I saw made me drop the bottle. Kurt was lying on the floor.

"Kurt! KURT!" I yelled as I gently placed him on the bed. I lifted his head so I could look into his eyes when he opened them.

"B-Blaine? Oh I don't know what happened. I just fainted." He said as he sat up.

"Do you want me to call Cooper?" I asked.

"No I'll be fine." He said as he went to pick up the clothes.

Then yesterday, I discovered something really odd about his dreams. He kept talking in them. Something about wanting to protect someone. It was really sweet that he was trying to protect me in his dreams.

"Kurt? What's wrong?" I asked. He shot up and put his hand to his chest. His breathing was erratic. I could tell that his heart was about to beat out of his chest.

"Oh my god! That dream felt so real." He said.

"Care to share what it was about?" I asked. He shook his head and got up to go get some water. I followed him into the bathroom.

"I-it was nothing." I heard his heart rate speed up. Whatever it was, it was bothering him. He sat on the edge of the bathtub. I sat down beside him and felt his head. He was awfully warm.

"You're burning up. Let me get you a cool cloth." I got up and wet the cloth. I put it on his head and rubbed his neck.

"That feels better." He said. I smiled at him and led him back to bed.

Now so far today nothing has happened. He's been sleeping for the past few hours. That's also something that I found strange too. His sleeping habits were off, along with his eating habits.

I left him alone while I went to the mainland to get something to eat. I wanted to get some hunting done, along with buying some more food for Kurt. He loved that hash brown breakfast bake. It was one of his new favorite entrées. Cooper and the rest of the family are doing fine. Langston's keeping them afloat on the Eli situation. Everything seems to be okay. But I still feel that there's a threat. The fact that Sebastian and Dave are being manipulated isn't exactly what we need. Eli's going to come at us with everything he's got.

And we'll be prepared.

When I came back to the house, I prepared Kurt's breakfast and went to wake him up. But when I got to the bedroom, he wasn't there. I was about to call out his name when I heard the sound of retching. I immediately ran to the bathroom and found Kurt hunched over the toilet. He was violently vomiting. I went over and rubbed his shoulders.

"Oh Kurt, are you okay?" I asked. He spit one last time and flushed the toilet. He took a few deep breaths and nodded his head yes.

"Yeah, I don't know what came over me. One minute I'm fine and the next I'm in here. I was feeling nauseous all night." He said. He got up and gargled with some water and then brushed his teeth.

"I'll call Cooper. I think he needs to know about this." I said. Kurt shook his head vehemently.

"I don't need them worrying about me. I'm feeling better already." He sniffed the air and smiled. "Is that breakfast? I'm starving." I helped him into the kitchen and he ate his food. I watched him to make sure that he was actually okay.

"Are you sure you don't need me to call Cooper?" I asked.

"Nope," he said with a mouth full of food. I had to smile at that. "I fe-" He stopped, shook his head, and spoke again. "I-I don't..." He looked down at the food and sniffed once more. He looked at me with sad eyes, hopped off the stool, ran to the sink, and was ill once more.

"Kurt! I'm calling Cooper." I said as he finished up and went to the bedroom. He looked so weak for a minute there.

"Okay, I-I'm gonna get some sleep. Maybe I'll feel better then." He said as he lay on the bed. I waited until I heard the soft sounds of his breathing.

I went into the living room and called Cooper. It should be about 5 p.m. there anyway.

"Hello?" He answered.

"Hey Coop, how's everything?" I asked.

"Everything is doing just fine. You want to tell me why Langston called me a few minutes ago to tell me that Kurt's future has completely disappeared?" He said. I felt like the world had stopped.

"What do you mean his future disappeared?" I asked.

"Langston said that he saw the both of you just fine until a few minutes ago." He said.

"Maybe, something is shielding him. I'll check things out as soon as possible." I said. "But what I wanted to say was Kurt has caught something I believe."

"Really? Like what?"

"I don't know. I mean maybe the city has changed him. He's been acting weird lately." I said as I sat down. I didn't really need too, but I felt it was necessary.

"How weird?"

"I don't know how to explain it. It's like he's been having weird dreams lately." I said.

"Well everyone human usually has them. It's nothing to worry about."

"I'm not finished though. There's more to it. He's had these weird blotchy marks on his skin. He's been nauseated; his eating habits have been off. I just got done helping him to bed. He's thrown up twice today." I said.

"That does sound serious. Anything else?" Coop asked. I had a very good memory, so I ran through all the things that had happened while we were here.

"I don't understand what's wrong. I mean, he was fine when we got here. Could he have caught something?" I asked worried.

"Well Blaine, it seems to me that you're describing..." But before he could finish I heard Kurt move around in the room. I listened on his labored breathing. He sounded like he was having another nightmare. I heard how erratic his heartbeat sounded. I was about to enter the room when I heard something else.

"Hold that thought Coop." I said as I entered the room. Now I know I heard something other than Kurt's heartbeat. I was about to leave when I heard it again. It was like a fluttering sound. I got closer and the noise seemed to get louder.

"What is it?" Cooper asked. I leaned in and listened closer. That's when I heard it! It was another heartbeat.

"What did it sound like I was describing to you?" I asked.

"Well with all the things that you told me about Kurt, it sounded like you're describing a pregnancy." Cooper said, and then he laughed.

"What's so funny?"

"Oh come on Blaine; Kurt, pregnant? Give me a break. Male pregnancies are unheard of in this part of the world. Plus I highly doubt a vampire can impregnate a human." He said.

"Maybe you're right." I was about to dismiss the idea when I heard the flutter of another heartbeat again. No this can't be true. Kurt and I were careful. I mean we didn't use protection, but who ever heard of vampire children? Well, besides the immortal children who have to be bitten in order to become vampires.

"Of course I am, now get back to Kurt. Check and make sure he's okay." He said.

"Cooper listen to this." I said as I held the phone closer to Kurt's stomach.

"It sounds like a heartbeat, big deal." He said.

"Yeah, but listen closer." I said.

""Wait, something's not right. I-I think I hear two heartbeats." He said.

"I hear them too."

"Okay, we need to do more observations. Bring Kurt home as soon as you can. I'll tell the rest of the family." Cooper said and then hung up. I moved over to the bed and woke Kurt up.

"W-what is it?" he asked.

"We need to get home." I said as I went to start packing our things. Kurt sat up in the bed and scrunched up his face. I thought he was feeling sick again until he started talking.

"Why? Is something wrong?" He asked. I could give him a list of things but I didn't want to alarm him.

"Yes, there is. But I don't want you to worry. It's probably nothing." I lied. He was about to say something else when he grabbed his stomach.

"Wow! That felt weird." He said. I stood like a statue while he got up to go to the bathroom. I closed my eyes when I heard a glass drop. "Blaine!" I was in the bathroom in seconds.

"I don't want you to be scared." I said. He looked at me and then his reflection.

"It's hard to be brave when this is sticking out between my hips." He said as he turned to face me. I looked down at his swollen abdomen. He was right; there was a small but defined bump.

"We need to get home, now." I said as I led him back to the bedroom to pack some more. This is not what I had in mind for us. I wanted everything to be perfect, but it seems like we have even bigger problems that lie ahead.

A/N: Okay here's the chapter. To us, Kurt's Prego, but to them? It's a mystery. You see, they know that male pregnancies exist, just not in America. So they have no idea what's going on. Yet anyway. There will be more explanations in the next chapter. Read and Review XOXO ShadowBeauty.
