KAITLYN'S POV:

"Tyler's bit."

Benji dropped the radio in shock as he heard those words, then leaned against the brick wall of the building and began to hyperventilate. "He's...bit…" Benji mumbled, then slammed his fist on the wall. "Fuck me!" Hiroto and Aiko ran over to Benji to calm him down, while I noticed in the back of me that upon hearing Eli's demise, Jenny had begun to softly sob over the loss of her old friend, and Terrance kneeled next to her, comforting her.

Lex however looked over at Benji, who was sitting on the ground, still hyperventilating. "Good god…" Sal mumbled. Aiko ran over and dragged me over to him. "Panic attack." Aiko said, for the first time I've heard her speak english. I kneeled in front of him and began to relay the instructions to help him calm down. "Breath in slowly...and again…" Benji began to follow my words carefully, and eventually, his breathing slowed to a steady pace.

"I'm sorry, I just…" Benji sighed. "I didn't want it to go wrong." Honestly, it was a bit weird seeing this side of Benji, as he was usually shown to be confident and easy-going, but now, he was panicked and terrified. "I need a bit, can you guys check to see if the horde passed?" Lex and I, leaving the others alone, went up to a balcony and looked through some binoculars.

"Hey Kaitlyn, I never got a chance to talk to you." Lex abruptly said. "Yeah, you're mostly spending time with Sal." Lex shrugged. "He's my brother, what do you expect?" Lex responded with a grin, which I returned. "Where were you when the world ended?" Lex asked. "I was at a police station in Florida." Lex smiled. "What job?" Lex asked. "Cop, guard?"

"Actually, I was the chief of Police." I responded, to which Lex's eyes widened. "Wow, you had your life all laid out for you huh?" I nodded. "That day, we got a number of calls detailing people eating others, and at first, I thought it was a joke by some druggies, because there was a lot in the city." I explained. "But eventually, as the calls kept coming, I got a bit suspicious, as even one of the off-duty officers called about the same thing, so I sent some officers out, and they never came back."

I sighed. "Eventually, one of them, McKinley I believe he was called, stumbled in with a bite on his neck, and when I called the paramedics, the line was dead, and he stood up and tried to kill me, so I was forced to shoot him." I shook my head, remembering the moment I was forced to kill him. "Hearing about potential safe-zones, I went all the way to Constantine, picking up some people on the way…" I paused. "Including Pierce…"

"Sal was the guy who actually established the safe-zone, and due to my background as chief of police, I eventually became his right hand woman." Lex smiled at me. "Did you two kiss at all?" Blushing, I shook my head. "No, we kept it professional…" I responded. "Although, I wouldn't mind…"

Lex smiled and went back to looking, and quickly put down the binoculars. "It's here, the firecrackers should be ready." Taking out the firecrackers, the two of us ran alongside the horde and eventually ended up in back of it, and somehow it didn't notice us. Carefully, we both put the firecrackers down and Lex lit them both. We then quickly dashed away from the herd, and when the firecrackers went off, we dashed away.

TYLER'S POV

While I heard Elroy's voice as he informed the others of my little accident, I was just left sitting there in shock. How the hell did I get bit? How and why? My mind flashed back to the meat store, and I remember feeling the wetness as soon as the beastie pounced on me, and it became clear.

Estimating the amount of time that had passed, I was bitten three hours ago.

However, even knowing that, that just raised even more questions. Why am I not feeling weak? How was I able to beat the snot out of Heath? How was I able to keep walking without feeling tired or sick? In fact, I actually felt fine, which confused me greatly.

Beth, tears running down her face, ran over to me and hugged me tightly. "I'm sorry, I should've killed him faster!" I returned her hug and patted her head. "Beth, it's alright, you're doing great…" Beth heaved with sobs and kept her grip on me. "Tyler, I don't blame you for getting me kidnapped…"

Feeling a bit of relief, I patted her head as she buried her head in my chest. Feeling more pain, I yelped and Beth got up, then gasped. "There's another!" As Beth said that, I looked to where she was, and found out she was right, there was a second bite, right near the first one. Elroy, hearing Beth rushed in and kneeled next to me. However, as he kept staring at it, his eyes widened.

"Tyler, how long ago was this?" Elroy asked. "The first one was in the meat shop, and the other...I don't know…" I briefly thought back to the day I met them, and I did remember before I was taken, I did fight against a beastie and felt a similar sharp pain like the bite in the butcher shop. "Six days…"

"But that's impossible, people die from a bite within a day!" Elroy exclaimed. "Why are you asking this?" I abruptly asked, which caught Elroy a bit off guard. Regardless, he straightened himself. "Your wound...is healing…"

"What?!" I nearly yelled. "How the hell is that possible…" I asked, in disbelief, which intensified as soon as I saw the wound, and it was, in fact, healing. "How…" I mumbled. "I didn't feel sick at all, no symptoms, my body treated it like a small cut…"

Elroy, upon hearing this, began to study the wound closely, and his eyes widened. "Everyone!" Elroy yelled out. "In here!" Within moments, Cody, Heath, and Eve joined Elroy, Beth and I in the small room, and Elroy turned to the others with a smile. "I think we found our ticket out of here…"

Heath then spoke up. "What do you mean?" Elroy's grin expanded.

"Tyler's immune."
