Chapter Eleven
When Pyro woke the next morning, he was surprised to see he wasn't in Silvermist's home. He only remembered he was in his own home when he approached the window and saw the Spring Valley down the hill his house was perched upon. He smirked to himself, remembering what the Tinker Fairies had done for him.
He looked around his house, trying to remember where everything was, looking into every nook and cranny to learn this place from top to bottom. It was his house after all. After he got bored of exploring the house he figured he should go find Tinker Bell, seeing as today was his day to spend with her, learning the tricks of her trade and just what it is that tinkers do.
He dressed himself, finding new clothes he'd never seen before in the wardrobe across from his bed. They were made from leaves and wool and string, dyed bright red and orange. Pyro figured the tinkers made it to match his talent, and they didn't look bad at all.
With that, he set off. Leaving his new home he flew around the Spring Valley, getting a feel for his wings and breathing in the beautiful air, filling his body and mind with pleasant thoughts and feelings. He even ran into Terrence who was doing his morning pixie dust deliveries. Terrence gave Pyro his cup full and flew on.
When Pyro arrived at Tinkers nook, he couldn't find Tinker Bell. He found Clank and Bobble easy enough, but that wasn't very hard anyways.
"Hey Clank! Bobble! Have you seen Tink?" He asked them.
"Mornin' Pyro!" Clank said enthusiastically, giving a salute.
"Can't say we have!" Bobble said looking at clank, who shrugged. "She hasn't been here all morning."
"Maybe she's still sleeping?" Clank suggested.
"Hah! Guess I should go wake her up then." Pyro remarked.
"Aye!" said Bobble. "You should go check on her."
"Do you know where she lives?" Clank asked. "I can take you there if you like!"
"That'd be great Clank", Pyro replied.
"Great!" Clank said happily. "Oh, but you have to wake her up!"
"Why's that?" Pyro asked.
"Because Tinker Bells is scary when she gets angry!" Clank said guarding himself.
This earned a chuckle from pyro.
Unfortunately Pyro would not be doing any waking because they in fact met Tinker Bell about halfway. They discussed what was going on, Tink laughed a little and thanked them for being thoughtful of her. She then took Pyro to her workshop and showed him the ropes.
They discovered that Pyro is a quick learner; he was able to make a kettle, fix broken ones and even find lost things flawlessly. He enjoyed working with the tinker fairies, getting to know them and receiving their appreciation for his help.
It was about midday when Pyro and Tink sat for lunch with the rest of the gang.
"So how's being a tinker for a day?" Rosetta asked.
"It's cool!" Pyro replied. "All of the others tinker fairies are awesome too!"
"Really?" Asked Silvermist.
"Well, it can be a bit boring at times. I mean just sitting there fixing things! Yay!" Pyro said sarcastically
"Hey!" Tinker Bell said. "There's more to it than that. It's just that we're not preparing for anything yet."
"Preparing?" Pyro said confused.
"Yea you know, like for the changing of the seasons!" said Fawn.
"Yeah!" Iradessa followed.
At the end of the day, after more tinkering and fixing, after Pyro had thanked Tinker Bell for giving him a day like today, Pyro was sitting with Silvermist on a tree branch hanging over the river in the Spring Valley. It was almost dark out and you could just barely see the top of the sun over the horizon.
"So you really did enjoy being a tinker?" Silvermist was asking.
"Yeah! I mean, it's not the most fun I've ever had." Pyro said. "It sure beats spending most of the day in the queen's office though."
"Oh I'm sure it does!" Silvermist said with a giggle. "I just couldn't handle being couped up in a workshop for so long."
"Forever the free spirit huh?"
"Yep!"
Pyro and Silvermist looked deeply into each other's eyes for a moment. Neither of them sure whether they should lean in or not, neither of them sure if it was the right time or right moment to seize such an opportunity.
Pyro ended up preventing an awkward moment by pointing out how late it was getting and that they should head home. Silvermist agreed and gave him a hug as she said goodnight.
Pyro flew off first; he flew straight up to his home atop the hill. Silvermist sat there on the tree branch a little longer. She let out a sigh of disappointment and wondered what would of happened if she leant in and kissed Pyro. She decided not to dwell on it and headed home.
Pyro was inside his home with his head against a wall. He felt stupid as he wondered what would have happened if he leant in a kissed Silvermist. He felt like he had just missed the perfect opportunity and that he wasn't going to get another one like it. He decided that he should just sleep it off and approach tomorrow with a level head.
He slept with Silvermist all over his mind.
