This deserves a quick update, so here I am again. Read and Review.

Jane

We lay in silence for a while, just listening to the phone ring over and over, neither of us moving. I expected him to fall asleep because of all the booze he'd had but everytime I thought he was alseep, he squeezed me slightly. It was comforting actually. This guy knew all my secrets now, and he was familiar with how I felt.

"Jane, answer the phone." He moved his arm from around me, freeing me to get up. I got to my feet and snatched my phone off of the bed, and checked the caller ID. It was Alec.

"Hello?"

"Hello? You don't miss my calls and then just say 'hello'."

"Just cut to the chase."

"Aro wants to set up a time when he can watch the wolves. He anticipated that the Cullens would find out about our intentions so -"

"He's trying to be a gentleman, yes I get it. I'll ask them. Bye." I was about to hang up the phone when Alec called my name again.

"And Jane..."

"What?"

"Aro wants to know exactly how you feel about the wolves." I hung up.

I looked down at the blood on the carpet, and to it's owner. He was cradling his stomach a little but all in all he seemed alright.

"How badly did I hurt you?" I whispered. He opened his eyes and smiled at me.

"Nothing I can't handle." he shivered. "My body can heal itself in no time."

"But how badly?" I knelt beside him and turned him onto his back. He winced and blew out a big breath.

"Physically, you might have broken my ribs. Emotionally, you might have touched my heart." I shoved him softly, hiding a smile.

"That's the cheesiest thing I've ever heard, which means you're still drunk. I almost kicked you half to death, and you find that attractive?"

"I like a woman with a temper." he winked before sitting up. He held his stomach for a while before looking at me again. "Jane, I gotta tell you something."

Paul

My ribs were cracking as they mended themselves, but I sat up anyway. I thought, since I was still somewhat drunk, I might as well admit as much as I could to her.

"Jane, I gotta tell you something." she sat back on her knees and shrugged.

"Speak your drunken mind, by all means." I laughed a little, she was getting really funny with her sarcasm, but it hurt to laugh.

"Alice said you were going to help us, and maybe I do know why, and maybe I don't, but it would be unloyal to my brothers if I didn't try and change your mind." Her face shifted as I said that, and she hissed in annoyance.

"I haven't known you long enough for you to mean something to me so if that's what your trying to pull you can forget it."

"No, but you mean something to me." she opened her mouth to interrupt me, but I held up my hand to stop her. "Just let me finish." I slid closer and looked into her green contacts. They seemed to be melting so I could just about see the red underneath. "What you don't know about us, is that we do what's called imprinting."

"Imprinting?"

"It's an instinct we have. It's to help us find...our...soul mate..."

"Pfft."

"Haha, but really...Jacob described it as something quite cheesy umm...It's not like love at first sight. It's more like... gravity moves... suddenly. It's not the earth holding you here anymore, she does... You become whatever she needs you to be, whether that's a protector, or a lover, or a friend." she stared at me with this weird look in her eyes.

"That's kind of...romantic."

"So what I say is cheesy, but what he says is romantic?" she scoffed at me. "So what do you think?"

"Of what? I'm sure Aro will be interested to hear about this interesting instinctual process -" I put my hand on hers, causing her to stop talking.

"No, Jane. What do you think?"

"Of what?" she placed a look on confusion on her face, that I almost believed.

"Of me imprinting on you?"

"Pfft, like anything that romantic could ever happen to you. Let alone you accepting it. I doubt it's common nature for you to imprint on your natural enemies."

"Jacob imprinted on Renesmee." she gagged.

"You do realise how wrong that is right? Wait...is that why he's all over her all the time?"

"It doesn't work like that and you're getting of the point. Tell me what you think."

"I think it's weird, if it makes you fall in love with adolescent children -" I couldn't help shaking her.

"Jane!" her shocked eyes met mine, "Tell me how you feel about this."

She stayed silent for a while, staring at me.

"Is that why you've been so weird around me ever since I got here?" she asked. I nodded. She disengaged herself from my arms and stood up. She picked up the wardrobe that she knocked over and and picking up clothes that had fallen out of it. I got to my feet slowly as well.

"Are you not going to say anything?!" I couldn't help shouting at her. I thought maybe she would take what I said differently. "I've kept this from you for a while, and you're not mad or anything?! You don't even want to ask me what this means, let alone how you feel?" She ignored me and I started to shake. I grabbed her by the neck and hit her head against the wall. "Jane, I thought I was getting through to you!"

"This means nothing." she monotoned. "You want to hit me, go ahead. Better than you turning into a wolf in the center of my hotel room."

And I did.

Jane

I felt every single one of his punches, ever single one of his tremors as his anger called to his wolf and I let it happen.

The last few years, I watched and read examples of connections between humans. The ones he'd explained were the ones I knew the best; a protector, a friend, or ... a lover. Like he said, I wanted the human experience... his connection to me did touch me but...

Did that mean he loved me? The kiss from before was recalled to my mind. What did that mean? And all the soul mate stuff...I was his gravity...

I felt the dry-wall break behind me and I had to stop him, so I grabbed his arm before he could hit me again. It was shaking uncontrollably.

"Gor for a walk. Clear your head before you come back. You're still drunk."

He tried to hit me again, but I turned him to face the door and pushed. He opened it and left with a slam.

I went to sit on the bed and opened up my phone. He was right, this did change things, but I wasn't going to completely help them. I wasnt changing sides, there was no way in hell that would happen, but I could delay Aro. Maybe that was what Alice saw. I opened up a new text to Alec.

Give them three months. I can find out way more about them in that time. Tell Aro, I'll have my own opinion by then as well, and I'll suggest the best ones to take back to Volterra with us.

Sorry if that was a bit erratic, but I tried my best, hopefully the next update will be better.
