Fujin trekked through the Botan Jungle, looking for any sign of the fighter's he had heard so much about. They were rumored to train in the depths of the Botan Jungle, where it was rumored a vicious dragon lived. The dragon was supposedly sent down by the gods to protect a secret. Fujin had heard of no such thing, but it was still rare for him to make a trip to the Botan jungle. The few times he had been there he felt small traces of magic near Argus' Temple, but it was nothing surprising. The reason he never really ventured into the Botan, was because it was generally deserted. The rumored fighter's he had heard of had developed their own brand of fighting and retreated to the jungles to train. The only problem is that there were so few of them,he wasn't sure there were any left. He figured that the only way to know for sure was to look and clear things up. As he walked through the jungle, he heard rustling around him.
At first the sounds seemed to be nothing more than the movement of animals and snakes in the trees, but the deeper he went, the more he felt that he was being watched. He decided that the best way to search the jungle was go about it the easy way. He stopped walking sat down and began to focus his energy all around him. He projected his consciousness in all directions around him searching the area for signs of people. The trees started to guide him to the sounds of his conscious drew closer he began to sense their energy. He saw an image of a man and woman sparring, and he was about to teleport to them, when all of sudden panic shifted through the jungle. Something was coming at them fast, and they would be prepared. They appeared to be ninja's and they were bearing a peculiar mark.
Fujin teleported to the spot he saw them and prepared himself for help. When he arrived, there was no sign of the ninja's he had seen, and everything seemed undisturbed. The man and woman were still training, completely unaware of the fact they were being watched. Fujin took a moment to watch them and was mesmerized. Their training looked artistic, as if dance was mixed in with it. There was lots of kicking and jumping mixed in, that made it flow more like an artistic dance than a fighting technique. Then the man did something that surprised Fujin. He flexed his arms spun around and summoned the winds around him to push the girl in the air. She pushed and twisted in midair, corrected herself then came crashing with immense force. She landed on her feet but as she landed, the earth underneath the man pushed up and sent him flying back. He used the winds to padden his landing and he jumped to his feet. He jumped in the air just in time to avoid the hurtling land mass that was coming his way. He then corkscrewed his way down towards the woman.
She dodged his attack and allowed him to correct his footing. She then punched the ground and a fist emerged underneath the man. He dodged and used the wind to pull the girl towards him. As soon as she neared, he spun her around and she began to spin viciously. She was a bit groggy, and then the man took a deep breath and blew it at her freezing her momentarily. He then bowed and waited for her to regain her composure. As the sparring continued they started to hold back on showing their power's, and Fujin was able to get a hold of himself and step forward.
"You two fight well together, you make a great team. It was interesting to see you work with your powers. I am Fujin God of Wind, I came here in search of warriors and it appears that I have found them. Lord Raiden, God of Thunder, and I are in need of assistance of strong warriors willing to help protect earthrealm. I have been watching you two fight and you are amazing. I can also sense that there is lots of good in your hearts. I was hoping you could join us and help us defend earthrealm from the forces of evil." He smiled and returned the bows that they gave to him. "What are your names young one?"
They fell to one knee and placed their right arm across their chest. They bowed their heads to Fujin and the male began to speak. "You must be the spirit-god Oya, come to us in male form. We are most honored to be in your presence Oya, and we will gladly help your cause, it would be an honor serving you. I am Matheus Santos and this is my sister Terra. What is it that we must do to prove our loyalty?" They stayed on one knee and bowed, their heads to the ground. Matheus' wavy brown hair fell to his shoulders as sweat dripped from it. His yellow headband was barely visible with all his hair. He was wearing a black muscle shirt that had a logo of the Brazilian flag over the left pectoral. He was wearing green wrist bands on each hand and his pants were green with two yellow stripes on each side. He also had a yellow belt wrapped around his waist. The chain around his neck appeared to be made of ivory and it had a shark tooth wrapped to it. Terra's hair was braided and put up in a bun. She was wearing a sports bra with a thick yellow and green bar on the right breast. Around her neck was an obsidian necklace, and she was wearing three silver bracelets on each wrist. Her pants were also white and they had two thick yellow bars on the side, split down the middle by a green bar, with thin dark blue trimming on the outside of the yellow bars, and they were being held up by a dark blue belt. On her left arm was the tattoo of a serpent wrapping around her arm and its mouth opening up at her shoulder.
"This gesture is more than enough, stand up please we should get going. Are there any other fighter's in the area?"
"We are the only one's here, legend has it a dragon is guarding this jungle. Many of the fighter's who have come in have disappeared because they ventured too close to the ruins, where is said the dragon resides. We have slowly made our way deeper into the jungle each day,to see if any danger comes. We were the only one's with powers so we figured that we could test the dangers. So far nothing has come to us." As he spoke, there was a rustling in the distance and figures started to emerge in the distance. Very soon 10 ninja's were around the tree's waiting to attack. Fujin took notice and before he could say anything they shot at them. Fujin deflected the darts that came flying at him, but Matheus and Terra were hit. Their eyes rolled back in their heads and they passed out. Fujin tried to take the two and teleport them back to the temple, but the ninjas swarmed him. He blew them all back into the trees, but he didn't notice the other group taking the bodies away. As he rushed to their aid a voice barked out a command.
"Stop you imbecile's do you realize who that is?" The voice stopped Fujin dead in his tracks. He recognized that voice from before. It had been a very long time since he had spoken to that man but he was sure that it was him. "This is the Wind God Fujin, he is a powerful deity, and a family friend. Fujin, I apologize for the rude welcome my employee's here have caused you. Had I known you were coming I would have made preparation's."
Fujin turned around and came face to face with Daegon. He looked much older than Fujin had remembered. He was completely bald and it appeared that he was blind from his right eye. There was a deep scar running down from his forehead, past his right eye and stopped at his right cheek bone. He was wearing leather shoulder pads with gold studs on top. He was wearing a cape that fell to his knees. There was forearm straps on each of his arms and he was two thigh gun holsters with a gun in each. Appearing over his shoulder pads and near his head were two identical hilts that appeared to be crossing.
"Daegon , by the Elder Gods, how have you been? What brings you here?" Fujin was astonished at Daegon's arrival. He had not seen him for hundreds of years and the last time he saw him, he was home in Outworld.
"I will fill you in once we get to a safer place, this jungle is dangerous. Come we will tend to your allies. You must forgive my employers they are ordered to bring anyone suspicious in. See I have acquired many enemies here, and one such enemy is trying to kill me. I was stationed out here to prevent him from doing so, but I have reason to believe he has found me." Daegon started to lead him to the entrance of the Red Dragon head quarters. As he opened the door and let everyone in he began to walk a little slower and pulled Fujin aside.
"Lord Fujin, this is not easy to say, so I will confess and say it. I am the founder of the largest criminal operation in Earthrealm, the Red Dragon Clan." He lowered his head and his voice began to crack. When he looked at Fujin he appeared to be holding back tears. "Please forgive me Lord Fujin. I started this criminal empire at a darker time in my life. I regret a lot of what I did, and I know I will have to face the error of my ways. I have reached a point in my life where I realize that I did not grow up into the person I wanted to be." He paused and lead Fujin into a room that looked onto a manufactory floor, where it appeared people were assembling weapons. Fujin watched on with disgust and when he turned to Daegon, there was sorrow and disappointment in his eyes.
"Why have you done this Daegon? You were a great person, you had potential to do so much good, and now you have chosen a life of crime. What had come over you?"
"Well. as I was telling you before, it was a dark time in my life. My parents had placed my brother and I in a sort of slumber until we were to be awakened. As it turns out their reasoning was that one of us was to either save the universe or destroy it. My own parents were going to pit me and my brother against each other, in order to settle an issue in the future. My mother was cursed with vision's so she created a failsafe to save the realms. Unfortunately, I was awoken too early. When I confronted my parents about the supposed quest they told me all the details, and said that once Taven was awakened then the end of days would begin. I did some searching and found the elemental my mother created, only he was corrupted somehow. My parents would not believe me and prevented me from fighting Blaze. They then banished me from Edenia until Taven was awakened. I was not allowed into Edenia for anything and I had to watch as Shao Kahn merged my homeworld with his. I was not there to prevent it and neither was Taven. So i grew angry and I formed the Red Dragon Clan. I used it to keep dictatorship's here in check. I also tried to use my power to search for my brother, but he was lost to me. Orin's magic was hiding them from me. I had reason to believe he was located here so I searched but found nothing. I kept this as a base of operations for a while, but I am afraid that the elemental and the dark priests who kidnapped him are now searching for me. See I was well aware of Shao Kahn's invasion here and I had agents helping prevent his invasion. The day he stepped foot on Earthrealm, I received a vision from the elemental. He whispered into my mind. He told me we were no longer needed and that my mother was incorrect. Her vision would not come to pass, as long as thing's were taken care of. Then he reached out at me, and I found out that Taven is indeed here, somewhere. I am afraid the priests and Blaze want to kill my brother and I so I am on constant alert."
Fujin sat in silence as he took in all the details of Daegon's story. There were some parts that he was obviously skimming over and it made Fujin nervous and uneasy. There was something about Daegon that was not right, and he sensed it now more than ever. When he met the family, Daegon always seemed more competitive, but it also seemed that he was always hiding something. At this same moment, it was hard to tell, but Fujin felt that Daegon was hiding a secret. He treaded carefully, allowing Daegon to believe that he trusted him.
"So then why the change of heart? Why now? What have you to benefit from changing your ways? Why tell me any of this? All I can say is that if you are genuine and are honestly repenting, then we can help you. Raiden and I. We can ensure your safety, but you would have to use the Red Dragon Clan as a force of good instead. We would need to be able to trust that you will have Earthrealm's safety at heart. I need to be able to trust you, Daegon. Can I trust you?"
Daegon's face was down and he looked extremely sad. He spoke slow and soft. "I know this story may seem strange, and the fact that I am founder of a criminal empire, may make it hard to believe me, but I only hope that you can find it in your heart to trust me. I am actually glad you are here because while my people were cleaning the streets of New York City, I found an ally of Raiden's. I found Sonya Blade, lying on the ground broken and beaten. The assailant, from what she has told my men, is none other than Kano. Someone I despise for betraying our clan. He joined the subordinate Black Dragon Clan and had even allied himself with Shao Kahn. He is a liar and a traitor and he will be brought down. Anyways, Sonya is fully healed and ready to fight, however she has agreed to help us find Kano, in return for having helped her. You can visit her and see for yourself that she is here and fine. I would allow her to leave with you, but unfortunately she has a deal to uphold. I will agree to return her to you and I will also help you rebuild earthrealm. Blaze's corruption has addled his mind and I believe this is the threat you must prepare for. The priests who enslaved him have strengthened him and I am afraid he is trying to awaken the Dragon King. With this chaos, that has ensued I am afraid the priests have the perfect opportunity to revive Onaga. We must prepare for that, but first my clan must punish the treachery of the Black Dragon Clan. It will be the last act of evil and the first act of protecting earthrealm. They were traitors to their world and they will suffer. We have located Kano and his people, we may be complete the quest very soon."
"So you are willing to help? Fine take me to Sonya Blade and let me talk to her, alone. When I leave I want to take the siblings with me and I will return in 4 days to check in. You have a week to complete your task and prove you are serious about joining us in the fight for good. Understood?" Daegon smiled and nodded. He bowed and then radioed in someone to come in.
A few minutes later, Mavado came in.
"You wanted to see me again, Master Daegon?" Mavado said as he entered the room. He looked from Daegon to Fujin confused and then waited for a reply.
"Yes, I want you to bring Sonya Blade here, Fujin would like to talk to her." At the mention of his name, Mavado turned to Fujin and bowed.
"Very well, I apologize Lord Fujin, I was not aware we were being graced with your presence. Forgive my rudeness. I will return shortly with Sonya." With that he stood up and left the room. Daegon then looked at Fujin and smiled.
"I am glad that I can help and prove to you that I am willing to. My warriors will be at your disposal and we will help with any danger. If you wish you can bring some of your warrior's to train here as well." He then radioed in someone else and told them to bring up the brother and sister. After some muffled sounds Daegon turned to Fujin with fear. "It appears the toxin we used worked a little too well on the male, matheus. He will need to stay here a bit longer to heal properly. I will take you to them after Sonya comes. As soon as he said that Mavado and Sonya walked in together. Sonya looked from Mavado, to Daegon and then to Fujin and she looked confused, She was further confused when Daegon and Mavado walked out.
"Who are you and what is that you want from me?" Sonya stared at Fujin wondering who he was and what game he was playing. As she moved cautiously about the room he spoke.
"Sonya Blade, my name is Fujin God of Wind and I am glad to see you are ok. Raiden and I have been searching for you, but we could not find you. We have begun training, for a coming attack that Daegon believes to be the rise of the Dragon King. However, I am hesitant on trusting these people. I must first know whether you are ok, and whether you trust them. Also Johnny Cage sends his concern's."
Sonya relaxed a bit. Fujin seemed like a trustworthy person, and if he didn't trust Mavado and his boss either then he was obviously competent. She took deep breath and began.
"I do not trust them either, but I have to help them with something. If they say there is a danger coming, they may be telling the truth, but they are obviously hiding something. Tell the other's I am okay and that I will return shortly. Now that you know where to find me come looking for me if I am not back within a week, understood?" Fujin bowed in acknowledgement and smiled. She was fast and she obviously wanted to hurry so she can get back to her mission. Fujin was looking forward to training her, and allowed himself to feel a bit of excitement at the idea of working with someone so strong willed as Sonya. They stepped out and looked at Daegon.
"So we are done talking take me Terra so I may return to my home. I must make sure matheus will be in good hands." Daegon bowed and took Fujin ot the medical ward. Mavado and Sonya left together. On her way out, Sonya looked to Fujin and nodded. He nodded back and remained expressionless, but Sonya knew he understood. For once in a long time, she felt that she could trust someone again, and as she left to prepare for her mission with Mavado and Hsu Hao she got excited at the idea capturing Kano and making him pay.
Daegon and Fujin arrived at the medical ward to see that Matheus was hooked up to a few machine's and he looked to be very sick. As Fujin checked him over, he sensed a poison, the toxin Daegon had mentioned, was coursing through Matheus and was taking hold of him. Terra was sitting next to her brother, her resting on his chest. She looked worried, but Fujin was surprised to see how fast she had gotten up. If Matheus and her were injected with the same thing why was she fine. He scanned her for traces of the poison but it was fading away quickly. Something was not right. He told her that they would have to go, and he turned to Daegon and bowed.
"I will return like I told you. I hope that you are being honest and are willing to help Earth realm. We would really appreciate any help you can provide. Have a good day Daegon, I hope you find your brother safe." With that Fujin and Terra were gone, just leaving Daegon in the room alone with Matheus.
Daegon walked back to his office and smiled. As he stepped in Quan Chi and a hologram of Shinnok were waiting for him.
"Well done Daegon, you were very convincing. I like how you masked the truth with lies, making it hard for Fujin to determine what is wrong. By the time the fool realizes what had transpired it will be too late. Do not worry about Taven. He may be stirring but from what we know he has not awakened."
"It is the least I can do for you Lord Shinnok. Tomorrow will be the end of the Black Dragon Clan. Then you will have the Red Dragon Clan's full support. So how much longer until you are whole again? When will this war begin?"
"Do not worry Daegon, things are beginning to come together. I will need you to do that deed now. If this is to go according to schedule then you will need to help Quan Chi kill Caro. We need the dragon's heart for the spell. Very soon I will be able to step foot on ground again and enact my revenge on the Elder Gods and assume full control of Outworld and Earthrealm. Nothing will be able to stop me. Raiden thinks he is the only one who received vision's from his future self, well he is mistaken. I will make everyone regret forgetting me!" Daegon bowed and the hologram disappeared. Quan chi followed Daegon to the place that Caro was being enslaved.
As they approached Daegon warned Quan Chi to be careful. Caro had grown more and more frustrated and was attacking anyone who passed by. As they approached the temperature began to skyrocket. Pretty soon it was as hot as Netherrealm and Quan Chi's amulet was getting too hot for him to touch. He quickly grabbed it and used its power to turn himself invisible. He then pushed Daegon forward and began to levitate towards Caro.
Caro looked around and noticed Daegon had entered the room. He had never felt so betrayed and the fact that Daegon had the audacity to show up here to taunt him was upsetting. He began to focus the power inside his stomach and let it expand throughout his body. He inhaled and let a hot stream of fire erupt from his mouth. The flames licked the ground and missed Daegon by a few inches. He dodged then began to put his gloves on. He pulled out one of his guns and began to shoot at Caro, landing a few shots in his eyes. Caro was momentarily blinded and he started to swipe at the air. His arm collided with something in the air and Quan Chi fell to the ground with a thud. Daegon couldn't help but laugh a bit as he radioed for Mavado.
"Mavado, I am in Caro's room and I am wondering as to why the cooler was turned off. Turn the liquid nitrogen on to full power, we need to kill this lizard once and for all."
Mavado mumbled something unintelligible back into the radio and then cut the line. Daegon moved from side to side as he run over to Quan Chi. He slapped him awake and the two dodged a blast of fire.
Quan Chi was infuriated, so he slid under Caro and performed a teleportation spell. He ended up on top of the dragon and then began to mutter incantations as Caro tried to knock him off. He finished the spell and blinded Caro. He then slid down and plucked off one of the dragon's scales. He muttered another incantation over it and sent it sailing down the dragon's throat. He then moved his hands and Caro began to jerk. He thrashed against Quan Chi's spell and kicked. The earth started to shake and then Caro stopped jerking. Quan Chi had frozen him and was about to kill him, until Caro breathed out a small ball of fire towards Quan Chi. The fire was small and broke Quan Chi's concentration for a split second, but it was just enough time for Caro to regain control. He lifted Quan Chi and dropped him into his mouth. He landed on his tongue and slid back.
Daegon watched in horror as Quan Chi was eaten by Caro. Shinnok would be furious that his necromancer was killed. He took out his swords and sliced at Caro's legs. He sliced the dragon's ankles, tried to swipe his underbelly. He had not seen the tail turning around. Just as the tail was about to impale him he was pushed aside. Quan Chi smiled at him as the liquid nitrogen began to freeze Caro in place. Daegon seized the opportunity and slashed at the dragon's chest with his diamond tip drakeswords. He slid the blade down the Dragon's chest and Quan Chi climbed inside. He ripped the heart from the Dragon and teleported away. Daegon was left alone with the dead body of his old protector.
