Chapter 11: Crazed

MOUNT JUSTICE

After the incident that happened the day before, the Justice League were fixing Mount Justice up, as well as hooking the security of the Justice League Watchtower to Mount Justice. Green Arrow put a bowl of pretzels in front of the group. However no one went for them as they were still troubled by the previous day. They wanted to know answers as to what happened. Green Arrow sighed and took the bowl, except Wally wanted it back so he could it. Kaldur and Athena were talking to Batman about what Roy spoke to them about a fortnight ago.

"During the Taipei mission with Red Arrow. Sportmaster revealed a possibility of a mole within the team. And in light of last night's attack Tornado would appear to be the traitor." Asking if it was willing or pre-planned that he would run off with his siblings. Connor attacked both Kaldur and Athena.

"YOU KNEW!" He screamed. Kaldur and Athena groaned as he almost hit them both into the wall. "That android and his maniac family nearly killed Megan!"

"Connor what are you doing?" Megan asked as she flew in.

"Connor get the hell off of me!" Connor began to tighten his grip on Athena's shirt.

"Both Athena and Kaldur knew we had a traitor among us. And said NOTHING!" The rest of the group walked in shocked by the fact that they didn't know about the traitor.

"We- we couldn't" Athena said.

"COULDN'T?" Connor screamed in anger. Kaldur replied about protecting the team however getting cut off from the others. "YOU ALMOST DIED!" Connor looked at Megan.

"SO DID KALDUR AND MYSELF CONNOR!" Athena yelled at Connor not afraid to stand up for herself. Batman spoke and looked at the team. Connor's grip had gone and Athena and Kaldur were free to move again. Athena's breath became shallow and she started to breathe slowly trying to regain it. Now that Red Tornado is gone, the Justice League will be taking shifts with the first to be Captain Marvel taking the first shift. Batman had a mission for the team. There was a Gorilla attacking the Gotham mayor. They were to depart for India, everyone walked of, with Wally making a remark and Kaldur.

"Come on Kaldur" Athena said taking his hand into her hand. He smiled weakly at Athena before walking off following the rest of the team to the bioship. Captain Marvel had to come with the team and Wally grimaced at Kaldur and Athena more who both looked sad.

NORTHEN INDIA

The whole team went off in different directions. Kaldur was upset and Captain Marvel asked if Kaldur even gave any plan. Athena sighed.

"I think I need to be alone. I will give you any intelligence if there's anything to report Kaldur." Athena started to fly off to look around.

Athena flew among the trees trying to find something to tell Kaldur, she sighed. 'Oh Roy, I wish you were here to tell everyone what happened' she thought. She didn't believe Megan made a telepathic link between everyone because Kaldur didn't give a plan, so no one except Megan and Kaldur knew about Roy and Athena.

She couldn't find anything and before trying to go back she was knocked back into a branch by a large flying animal. Standing up gradually she found herself opposite an Indian Eagle Owl. The thing is, is that it was as large as an elephant, but how? It began to peck at Athena, pushing her around. Athena groaned. She flew up, with the owl following, the two of them spiralling upwards in the night sky. Athena noticed a collar in the moonlight. 'How do I get rid of it?' Athena smiled at the owl who looked at her confused and she started to drop, making a large bean bag on the ground with her green ring. Before the owl followed Athena she got rid of the bean bag and made a huge hook before slicing the collar off of the owl trying her best not to hurt the creature. It looked at Athena, she could see the reflection of herself all muddy and dirty. Its brown eyes heard noises in the distance and flew off following it.

"SEE YA BUDDY!" She called with a chuckle. After ten minutes of sitting on the ground she heard Miss Martian's voice in her head with Artemis and Wally commenting on Kaldur's voice. "Will you two shut up? Jesus!"

"Hey Kaldur, KF and I were attacked by vultures, cause since we're moles you and Athena probably thought we attacked ourselves."

"If he did, he wouldn't tell you."

"Superboy, are you online? Or just pouting?" Athena chuckled. Superboy replied hastily.

"Can you guys give it a rest already? I was attacked by a large Owl tonight. This isn't something that happens. This owl was the size of an elephant and I felt like I had known it" Athena said. Wally flapped his lips together and gave a laugh.

"Knew it? What like you were chums in a past life?" Athena ignored his comment.

"ENOUGH! Captain Marvel has been captured and we must act as a team to save him" Wally continued to be a smart-ass around Kaldur. "This is not up for debate. You all chose me to lead. When the mission is over if you wish to select a new leader, I will happily step down; but until that time I am in command here."

"And boom goes the dynamite" Athena said with a laugh. She got off from the ground and tried to find Kaldur and the team.

The team were gathered around outside a building where they believe is the place that Captain Marvel is being held. Kaldur explained the plan, and Athena was ready. She knew what she had to do to save Captain Marvel. Artemis deactivated the force field that Kaldur helped tear apart. They all heard a monkey scream, looking up the team noticed monkeys coming down from the rooftop. They were now fighting against these monkeys. Athena started to punch the one that was battling her before Kaldur told them to remove the collars. She noticed it; why didn't she notice it. She clenched her fist around the collar and tore it apart. Where was this new ability from?

Miss Martian smashed the large gorilla through the wall, the team came into the large complex and noticed something.

"It's the brain!" Wally called. Artemis commented to Wally that she could tell it was a brain, however Wally corrected her that it was the brain.

Four bars came up, and everyone dropped groaning at the noise they could hear in their brains. Athena couldn't make a shield in time before she dropped to the ground. They were all paralysed until Miss Martian deactivated the field. Superboy and a wolf came through the wall behind the large Gorilla. With everyone attacking the said large Gorilla.

Athena followed Kaldur and made a large shield around them so that they wouldn't be shot at by the big brain, it then began to ignore them and they ran over to Captain Marvel who thanked them for their help. The brain and the gorilla were outnumbered 2 to 10. The brain brought out all this high tech weapons and Athena made a sword with her ring, Wally screamed for everyone to get down and the lights went off only to come back on seconds later with no brain, or gorilla in sight. It was silent.

Athena looked at Kaldur and gave him a hug, they released from each other's grasp and looked at each other with a smile.

"We did it" she smiled at him before giving him another hug. They let go and looked at everyone. Before boarding the plane Robin asked the two of them why they kept the whole mole thing a secret. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at the pair.

"The source of the tip was Sportsmaster"

"What?! You can't trust him!" Artemis was shocked.

"I- we do not. It seemed possible, even likely that he was attempting to divide the team with false information"

"And given how this mission went. He nearly succeeded. But you two had to consider it might be true."

"Yes. As leader I did. In which case we did not wish to alert the traitor."

"It's deceptive we know, and both Kaldur and I are truly sorry for leading you all on like this, thinking our friends as moles. However, if you all knew what heavy hearts we held for this information was terrible, and to release it, well…" Athena looked down and didn't want to continue.

"I hate to say it, but it makes sense." Robin nodded.

"I am still prepared to step down"

"Everyone in favour of keeping Aqualad as leader?" Wally asked with everyone raising their hands, Kaldur look to Athena who had her hand raised with a smile. 'Of course' she mouthed to him. Kaldur looked back at Robin who smiled at him. Captain Marvel didn't come back with the team in the ship, Kaldur stayed back.

"Come on leader!" Athena wrapped her arm around her friend's shoulder as they walked into the ship.

There should be just a Roy and Athena chapter much like last chapter. Three more months until school's over, oh yeah~ Hope you all have a wonderful day!
