Hey everyone. I know it's been forever since I last posted and sorry about that. Certain things have happened and I pulled away from writing for a little while. Let's hope that this writing spree stays so I can update more often. Thank you so much for all the follows, favs and reads. Can't believe this story's gotten over 100 reviews thank you so much for that!
Now here's the next chapter. (made it a little longer to make up for the delay in posting.) Hope you enjoy it :)
Chapter 11
Emma didn't want to leave, this trip seemed to pass by way too fast for her liking. She enjoyed the trip very much, but it wasn't how much she enjoyed it that made her want to stay. It was the the people and how she just felt drawn the this town. "I don't want to go home." She whined as Neal packed the last of their things into the suit case.
"I know, I don't want to leave either, but I have to get back to work. So do you Em." Neal smiled to himself, he didn't think it would be this easy to make Emma want to stay here. Luckily for him it wouldn't take all the much effort to convince Emma to be ok with relocating their small family to the town.
"It just feels so right here, it feels like this is where we're suppose to be. Like... you know how long it took me to feel ok with leaving Henry alone with the sitter? The one that we had already known for months before she started watching Henry for us?" Neal nodded his head. "But here it took me not even a day to trust Mary Margaret with him. I feel like I could trust that woman with my life and I don't know why. Until last week she was a complete stranger." The young mother looked over to her almost packed bag. She let the silence stay for a while as Neal just kept on packing. "You know Graham offered me a job." She spoke softly.
When Neal turned to face the blonde her eyes were locked on her half packed suit case. "And your bringing this up to me because?" He questioned? Slightly confused as to why she hadn't already told him.
"Because I said no... but now I'm second guessing it." Emma stood up and started passing. "I don't want to move, because I love our home and you have a job and I have a job and we're doing well for ourselves. We've built a life there together... and I don't want to up and take Henry away from the only place that he's ever known as home." Emma kept on talking, more to herself then to Neal, and he just watched in amusement.
"I don't think Henry would be angry about moving. He would maybe be sad for a little while but I think he would be ok with it. He's made so many friends here, and look how close he's gotten with "his" Mary Margaret. Trust me the kid would be fine." Neal looked at Emma who just stared at him completely shocked.
"Why don't you seem more surprised about moving. Or why do you seem so ok with the idea of moving? We've never even talked about this possibility before. I thought you'd want to stay at home." She questioned. Neal loved his job. If anything to Emma, Neal just took the news about moving as if Emma had just decided to change the restaurant for the evening.
"They kinda offered me a job here too." He admitted slowly and hesitantly. "But I said no because I thought you'd want to stay there." Neal said quickly when she gave him a look. "But you know if we both have jobs lined up here, and you have your friends and I have some people I've met and Henry has his friends, I think we would do just fine here. I love working where I work... I do... And I like our friends, but like you said, something about this place just feels like home." Neal reasoned with her.
"They offered you a job?" Emma eye's were wide. Where would Neal have gone without her that would hire him? "Wait who would offer you a job here?"
"That's the funny part, it's the pet shelter." Emma just looked at him weirdly. Sure she had always known that Neal loved animals but never would she have ever thought that Neal would get offered a job at an animal shelter. "It was the day that you went out with Ruby and Mary Margaret. I brought Henry with me to see the animals and when we walked in the guy was having trouble with all the paper work that he was working on. I took a quick look over it and gave him some advice on how to fill it out. Turns out the poor guy is the only one who works there. The other guy quit a while back and they haven't replaced him yet. Apparently the guy who quit was in charge of the paper work and this guy's main focus was caring for the animals. When he found out I knew how to do all the paper work stuff he apparently called his boss and told him about me, then offered me a job." Neal smirked. He never thought that finding a job in Storybrook would come so quickly and he was proud of himself for being able to get a job without even trying.
"All this happened while Henry was playing with the dogs?" Emma asked and Neal just gave her a simple nod in response. She remembered Henry going on and on about all the dogs he saw that day. "And you didn't feel like letting me know that you were offered a job? You didn't feel like bringing it up at all?" His fiancé accused.
"Didn't think that I could convince you to move here. So no, I wasn't planning on letting you know." Emma scoffed and Neal took her hands in his. "You constantly told me how much you hated moving from place to place when you were younger. I didn't want you to feel like I was pressuring you into doing something that you didn't want to do. Had I known how much you liked it here, I would've told you." He confirmed with a small smile and got one back in return.
Once the moment was over Emma pulled her hands away from Neal and started to pace again. "I just don't know what to do Neal. I mean it seems too easy to drop our life that we worked so hard to build back home, to make a new one here." She paused trying to figure out how to word what she was feeling. "Like... it feels too easy to the point where you feel that something bad is going to happen afterwards. Or at least something that isn't going to make your life easier is going to pop up."
Oh Neal knew exactly what was going to pop up in their lives, but in his mind it would be for the better. Emma could finally get her parents, and somewhere deep inside Neal hoped that maybe him and his father could mend their broken relationship as well. "Well maybe it's time to take a chance and start a new chapter to our story. And what better place to start a new chapter in a place called Storybrook?" He laughed and saw Emma try to hide a small giggle. "Yeah it's going to be different and it's going to be weird but hey, we can handle it. The little man can handle it. A good story isn't worth reading if there aren't some bumps along the way. But again, this is only if you want. We can always continue on the path that we've already established for ourselves." Neal felt as if he was repeating himself over and over again, but he didn't want to pressure her. This was a decision that Emma had to make, a decision that the savior needed to come to on her own.
"So you wouldn't mind moving to a small town in the middle of nowhere? Picking up our family and becoming the "new people" in town? Having me work at the sheriff's station? You working at the animal shelter all day long? Being away from real civilization?" Emma asked knowing where this was going to end. Why she was fighting her desire to move was stupid because, she knew that this was where she wanted to be. She knew after the third day when she was hanging out with Mary Margaret and Ruby, when she was able to help Ashley with her pregnancy, and she did find it fun to deal with the mayor, she always got a kick out of putting that woman in her in her place.
"As I've said before, you and Henry are all I'll ever need. I don't care where we are as long as we are together, we could live in the bug for all I care. I've got my family with me and because of that I'll know we will be just fine." Neal reassured her, giving Emma a small peck and another smile.
"But there's just so much to do. Last time we picked up our lives and moved was because we were running away to get free. We didn't have Henry to worry about last time." Emma complained as she again fought with her decision.
Neal couldn't help but laugh, yes it was getting frustrating because he knew that they were going to be moving but it was entertaining watching her fighting with herself. "Last time we did have Henry to worry about, we just didn't know it until later. And hey did we not do ok for ourselves then? When we had no jobs? The only thing we had were the money from the watches. And on top of starting new last time, we got the wonderful surprise that Henry was coming along, and we had no idea how to handle that." He noted.
"I guess your right." Realizing she had been standing and pacing for the past little while, she sat down on the bed and took a deep breath. Leaning her back against Neal's chest she could feel his arms crossing over her torso to pull her in for a hug. "This means that we're going to have to find someone to watch Henry while we're at work. We're going to have to move everything from our apartment to this new place that we have yet to find. There's just so much to do." She whined and pouted.
"Yes there is a lot to do. But I think the first step is not to let it stress you out. We only have maybe another hour until Mary Margaret bring Henry back to us and I would like to spend some time with my fiancé before this trip is over." He kissed her neck and could feel her shiver at his touch. "Wouldn't you agree?"
"Neal!" She half laughed when his breath tickled her. When he gave her another kiss and Emma realized that he was serious, she sighed and pulled away so she could look at him. "Seriously? Now?" Her brow raised in question.
"When else would we? It's a celebration." Neal argued with a smirk.
"And what exactly are we celebrating?"
"That we've decided to relocate our family to Storybrook." He pulled Emma in close again and she didn't fight him this time, if anything she leaned into him more.
"So we've agreed to move?" The blond closed her eyes as she took a couple breaths.
"Yup. And we will talk more about what needs to be done later. But while we have the place to ourselves, I think we should take advantage of the little time we have." Emma could only nod in agreement and turned around so they were face to face and answered him with a slow, passionate kiss.
The hour passed by to fast for the young couple. Sooner then they thought Mary Margaret had called saying that they were on their way back to the bed and breakfast. Both parents ran to get dressed again, both trying to find where their discarded clothes were. Minutes later they heard a loud knock on the door that was followed by a bunch of softer knocks.
"Coming." Emma called as she ran towards the door. Opening it quickly she saw Henry smiling up at her and Mary Margaret with the same expression. The blonde had to blink twice because at first glance she could have sworn that they looked as if they were related.
"Hi Mommy!" Henry waved his hand and ran into her legs to give her a great big hug.
"Hi baby!" Emma picked her son off the floor and gave him a big hug in return. "Did you have fun with Mary Margaret today?"
"We did." Mary Margaret answered as she gave Henry a tickle and he giggled. "We went to the park and had some fun, and you wanna tell your parents what else we did?" The school teacher asked the young boy.
"Mhhhmmm!" Henry said back happily. "We saw the ducky's! And den Pongo was at the park!" The toddler threw his hands up in excitement.
"You go to see Pongo?" Neal asked, sounding equally excited as his son. "That must've been fun!" Henry nodded his head.
"Thanks for taking him this afternoon. It really helped us pack up." Emma smiled to her friend as she placed her son back on the floor to play.
"Yes, thank you very much. We love the kid, but sometimes we need some time to ourselves." Neal smiled and Emma blushed.
"No problem. We had tons of fun and it got me out of my house. I'm just gunna miss him when you leave tomorrow." The teacher said sadly. In her entire life, well the life she remembers, she's never felt so connected to anyone as much as she has with this family.
"Well we would miss you too." Emma smiled when the teacher stuck her tongue out. The blonde looked to see Neal keeping Henry distracted on the other side of the room. "But we can't really miss you when we're in the same town can we?" She said quietly making sure that Henry couldn't hear. Neal and Emma would tell Henry later when they had time to explain what would be happening.
Mary Margaret jump up and gave Emma a hug."What made you stay?" The brunette looked to the blonde.
"Well, ever since Graham offered me the job at the station I've wanted to move here. I know I told you that I said no, it was more so because I thought that Neal wouldn't want to move. But it turns out he was offered a job as well. So, we both agreed that it's best for us to stay. I mean we just decided but I'm happy about it." Emma said, more to herself then anyone else to confirm how she truly felt about the move.
"I'm glad you're staying. I can watch Henry when you need me to. Well not when I'm teaching but, you know what I mean." They both laughed as Mary Margaret pulled Emma into another hug. "Well I better be going. Promised Ruby I would help her with something tonight." She gave a wave to Emma.
"Hey kid." Emma called out and Henry turned his head to look at his mother. "Mary Margaret's leaving." She tilted her head towards the teacher.
Henry let out a small gasp and ran up to her. "No!"
Mary Margaret let out a small giggle as she lifted the little boy into her arms. "Yes. I promised Ruby that I would help her with something tonight, so I can't be late. But I'll see you tomorrow ok?" Henry pouted out his bottom lip and nodded. "Thanks for today kiddo." She gave him a hug that he returned.
"Thank you for taking me to the park." Henry politely said, still pouting.
Emma took Henry from the brunette and Henry gave her a small wave. "Thanks again." Emma said as they watch the school teacher leave, Mary just waved her hand and smiled as she left their sight. "Well little man, shall we play and then go for dinner?" Henry's eyes brightened at the thought of food and he nodded his head excitedly. "Alrighty then."
"Come teach mommy how to play your game Henry." Neal called over as Emma placed their son on the ground and he ran over to his father.
"Ok!" Henry smiled and Emma followed him over. She hoped that Henry would take the news about the move well, but she pushed her fears aside so she could have a fun last evening.
Hope you guys liked the chapter. I know it may be a little fast for Emma to want to move, but she just feels like she has a pull to Storybrook. With going forward with them living in Storybrook I'll have some events from season one happen but differently due to the age of the characters and for purposes of where i want to take the story :) Let me know what you think, I always love reading the reviews :) Thanks so much guys.
