[4 WEEKS AFTER PART 10]
It had been nearly a month since they had landed on the 37's planet.
Kathryn and Chakotay had built their house, and set it up for their coming family. Kathryn felt Chakotay walk up behind her. "How is my family doing?"
Kathryn smiled to herself. "We're doing great. Well the Doctor did ask that we saw him this morning for my 16 week check-up."
Chakotay felt the movement beneath his hands. "How do you sleep with all that going on inside you?"
A soft smiled graced her features. "I don't notice it anymore." She turned to him. "It scared me at first, but now it's part of me." She paused. "I want to take the ship back to Earth today and visit mom, and maybe your sister. We took off without saying anything and I think it's time we explained some stuff to our families."
He stared at her. "You're not afraid we're going to get caught?"
He hand reached up and touched his face. "The cloak should hide us for the time we're there. I don't think our families will report us, and they deserve to know what is going on with us."
Chakotay nodded, "Have you talked to Harry and B'Elanna about this?"
"I was waiting to see what you said before I went any farther."
Chakotay nodded, "How is the morning sickness this morning?"
"I feel a little queasy, but I don't really feel like I want to throw up anymore first thing in the morning; but to be fair I haven't eaten breakfast yet."
"Well let's get some breakfast into you and then go visit the Doctor."
She nodded and took his hand. "Let's see if the Kim's want to join us for breakfast and if they are going to want to join us on our trip back 'home'."
It was early still and Kathryn went to the closet and took out a flowing green dress and fixed her hair and make-up. There was no reason to hide the pregnancy anymore.
B'Elanna had been really good about sharing her maternity clothes with Kathryn. The other couple said they had no interest in expanding their family yet again so soon.
They would wait another hour before waking Harry and B'Elanna.
[1 HOUR LATER]
Kathryn and Chakotay approached the Kim's house and rang the chime.
Harry made his way to the door and saw the older couple. "Hey guys, what's up?"
He had Cassie in his arms and Kathryn put her arms out to take the little tyke.
Harry handed Cassie to his former Captain and the baby smiled up at her. "You guys had breakfast yet?"
Harry shook his head. "Not yet. It's almost ready here: you guys want to join us?"
Chakotay nodded and took Cassie from his wife. "Wouldn't miss it. We have a proposition for you guys."
Harry looked intrigued, "Let me get B'Elanna and then we'll talk."
B'Elanna came down the stairs. "Oh, hey guys." B'Elanna looked at Chakotay making faces at Cassie. "Well someone has the parenting thing down."
Chakotay grinned, "Won't be too long before I have to."
B'Elanna laughed, "Not planned but not unwanted right Chakotay."
"Something like that."
Kathryn ran her hand over her belly, "This is something I never thought I'd get the chance to experience, but now that it's happened – I can't imagine it never happening."
Harry poked his head out of the kitchen, "Breakfast is ready."
Chakotay passed the baby to her mother. "Let's eat and we have to speak with you guys."
The couples sat down. B'Elanna had put Cassie in the high chair and put the baby food in the bowl on the adults table. "If I put that on her high chair it will inevitably end up on the floor."
Chakotay put some food on the spoon and brought it up to Cassie. The baby gladly accepted the breakfast food. "Hey Kat, he's going to be so good with your baby."
Kathryn smirked, "The baby is just a novelty now, wait until he has to deal with it 24/7."
Chakotay spun around, "Hey, not nice."
Harry laughed and chimed in. "So what did you guys want to speak with us about?"
Kathryn sighed. "We're taking a trip back to the Alpha Quadrant today. Do you guys want to tag along?"
B'Elanna and Harry locked eyes. B'Elanna shrugged. "Well now that we have the cloak working, I suppose we could do that."
Harry nodded, "My parents would love to meet Cassie."
"Then it's settled. Two hours we'll meet at the ship and we'll go visit our families."
Everyone nodded in agreement and the adults began their meal.
The meal was uneventful as the couples began thinking about finally getting to share their joy with their families. Kathryn turned to Chakotay. "What do you think they're going to say?"
Chakotay laughed, "About time. If not now when?"
Kathryn rolled her eyes, "Nice Chakotay."
Chakotay shrugged at her innocently. "Well don't you think its about time?"
Kathryn shrugged, "I suppose." She ran her hands over her belly once more. "Well lets get to the bridge and get this trip started.\
B'Elanna nodded and picked up Cassie and the quartet made their way to the bridge. "Harry can you go down to engineering and make sure that the cloak is on and the transwarp is started up?"
Harry nodded and followed the commands of his former Captain.
B'Elanna went to her quarters to settle Cassie and the former command couple made their way to the bridge.
Kathryn heard a hail from engineering "We're ready to go down here Kat."
Kathryn nodded at Chakotay as he took the helm. "Well let's get started."
Kathryn looked at her new life and realized that in a mere two hours her new life and her former life were going to intersect.
Life was once again going to change for the better for the couple.
