For some reason, I woke up in the middle of the night. It didn't matter anyway since I had no dreams to remember. Groaning, my eyes felt like sandpaper. Gripping my head, I tried to figure out what time it was. Looking for my alarm clock, I was half expecting Felicia to be in her bed but of course, that nightmare was real. 3:25 A.M. I felt my heart clench in my chest. The words I screamed at her earlier were ringing in my head. What type of sister was I? Sighing, I got out of bed and groped my way to the bathroom. Turning the light on and squinting, I tried to look at myself in the mirror. I smiled sadly. I looked like shit. No surprise there. Times like this I wish grandpa would pay the phone bill on time so I can text that damn girl and ask where she was. I turned on the faucet and washed my face off. It only washed some of the shitty feelings away. As I patted myself dry, I tried to think of how to fix our current status. I can't stand not having her there; despite my constant bitching and what not. Felicia is pretty much the closest to me here…And Antonio. My brain supplied. Fuck. Why did I even consider him to be close? Exiting the bathroom in annoyance, I plopped back onto my bed and clutched the tomato pillow I had close to my chest. I have 99 problems and one of them had to involve a boy.
"What to do, what to do…" I said aloud. As if that shit was going to help me at all. Should I be ballsy and just tell him how I feel? I closed my eyes in embarrassment and felt a blush burn my cheeks. "Yeah, feel what stupid." Oh great, I'm beginning to talk to myself. Looking at the clock again, only twenty minutes passed by. Groaning, I flopped back onto my bed. It felt like I've been up way longer than that. I kept my eyes closed and tried to sleep once again. Thank God there was no classes tomorrow. I would have been bitchier than usual. But for some reason, sleep just wasn't coming to me. My eyes opened and stared at the dark ceiling above. Just my luck. With a sigh, I got up and decided to get some water. Walking out, I grabbed a flashlight to make sure I could see properly in the dark halls of my school. I kept telling myself that ghosts weren't real and they definitely weren't going to get me now. As I kept walking towards the kitchen, I began to hear murmuring. I instantly froze. "Shit." I said aloud in a whisper. I jinxed myself. I'm going to die. I kept walking to the kitchen and the murmuring got louder. My heart was racing in my chest. Shit, shit, shit. I'm going to be the typical white girl in horror movies. I thought to myself as I opened the door slowly.
"And that's the plan!" I heard a familiar but annoying snicker.
"Will it work? Seems a bit….cliché, non?" I blinked and realized it was Francis. The other had to be Gilbert. That means…
"I think it's a great idea!" Antonio piped in with a laugh. "Wouldn't you agree, Feli?" I heard my sister giggle.
"Si!-" I kicked the door open. All of their attention focused on me as their faces paled. "S-Sorella!" Antonio moved and tried to walk towards me but I pushed past him.
"What are you guys talking about? What plan?" Gilbert sighed in relief, which made me more suspicious. Felicia also moved towards me and hugged me.
"N-No need for it now! You came to me so I want to say spiacente!" Felicia hugged me again but with a bit more strength this time. Blinking in shock, I patted her back a bit. Sighing, I felt relieved and tried to hold back a small smile.
"Then what are they doing here with you?" I said and pouted angrily at the trio. Francis nudged Antonio in the ribs.
"Ow!" He rubbed his ribs and then looked at me. I knew he was going to lie to me or something. He normally wasn't that good at it. Looking around the room while nervously playing with his fingers, he sighed.
"Well, she did want our help. She was walking around and of course we couldn't just leave her alone." He looked at Feli and she nodded. He wasn't doing his normal fidgety actions anymore. I guess he was telling the truth… "So we just decided to sneak in here and give her a little pep talk." He smiled at me. Something still seemed a bit fishy so I crossed my arms while raising an eyebrow.
"Hm, fine. If you say so." Gilbert and Francis shifted around awkwardly and coughed. Francis pulled up more little dishes of food and put it on the table. I looked at it and blinked. He smiled at me and gestured to the free chair.
"You might be famished; come and eat." Looking at the little dish, it did look kind of appetizing…I decided to be nice and sit down.
"If you insist." I huffed. Gil smiled and sat across from me.
"Aw, come now princess, don't be like that!" He snickered. I pouted a bit. How dare he call me princess….I picked up the fork that Francis placed near me and began to eat the little dish.
"Isn't Francis' food good sorellla?" Felicia asked ad she sat on my right. Antonio proceeded to sit on my left. I nodded as I continued to eat.
"Yeah, good I guess." Antonio smiled and put his head on his hand.
"He did learn how to cook when he was in France still." Francis, in the kitchen must have heard while making his other dishes, laughed.
"Oui! Only from the best in Paris!" He said while twirling a bit. I finished the dish, not wanting to admit that it was very tasty. He soon placed a little pastry in front of me and smiled.
"Like my cooking?" I huffed and continued to eat, deciding not to answer him. Felicia tried to take a bite of my pastry but I pushed her face away from my fork. Then Antonio tried to do the same thing.
"Really? You just saw me-" Antonio grabbed my hand and managed to take a bite. "Hey!" I exclaimed and tried to whack him but he jumped off the chair. Ditching the pastry, I got off the chair as well and began to chase him around the kitchen. Gil was cheering Antonio on while Felicia began to eat what was left. "Antonio! Get your Spaniard ass back here!" I yelled.
"Only if you catch me first Lovi!" He laughed. Feeling my cheeks redden from a blush (and all that running), I began to run faster. Gilbert started to laugh.
"Watch out dude! She's catching up to ya!" Francis only sighed and didn't even bother to stop us. I picked up something and tossed it at him, hoping it would slow him down but he dodged it. Feeling out of breath and tired, I stopped to catch my breath. Antonio noticed and stopped right next to me. The running thing didn't even leave him sweaty!
"You okay Lovi?" I looked at him and made a face. I then slapped him in the stomach. Much to my "joy", I seemed to hurt myself more than I hurt him. He laughed a bit at me. "I'll take that as a no?" Feli bounced next to me and gave me water.
"Sorella, you're not that fit anymore…" I pushed her down.
"Are you saying I'm fat?!" I exclaimed. She began to shake her head furiously.
"You're quite the opposite to me!" Antonio said. I raised an eyebrow at him.
"What?"
"I think you're very prett-" Francis tackled Antonio. Which confused me a lot. Was he about to call me pretty? Why did Francis tackle him?
"Oh, look at the time! We best go to bed now!" Felicia sad as she began to push me out the kitchen. Something was fishy again and I'm not going to let them tell me otherwise. Trying to stop Felicia from pushing me, I had to pull her ponytail. "N-No! We need to leave. As in. Now!" She urged after whining.
"No! What the hell are you idiotas up to?!" I finally got Feli to move to the side and crossed my arms over my chest. All three of the boys looked at each then at me.
"Damn, looks like we got caught." Gilbert said. Francis and Antonio looked at him with wide eyes. "Knowing such a smart girl like you…we were screwed from the beginning." I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Go on." I said quickly. Feli looked at him with wide eyes.
"You found out we were going to plan a prom, dance shit thing" He said. I blinked. A prom or dance? That wasn't what I was expecting. "We didn't want everyone to know." He said while fixing his jacket. "It was gonna be a surprise." He smiled at all of us. I still felt like something wasn't right.
"S-Si!" Antonio quickly jumped in. I shot him a look.
"A dance." I repeated.
"Yes! Because we're officially a real high school, right?" Francis nodded; he just looked heavily confused to me. "So why not act like one!" I rolled my eyes and began to leave the kitchen.
"You morons do what you want." I said while leaving.
"So you're okay with that?" Francis asked behind me.
"Not like I have a choice!" I said loudly while walking back to my room. I heard footsteps behind me and saw Felicia trying to catch up. A huge smile was on her face. "Wipe that smile off your face." I growled a bit.
"I can't help it! You promise not to tell anyone about the dance? It's a big surprise!" She clung onto my arm. I groaned and tried to shake her off.
"It's not going to be a surprise for long." I mumbled.
"Yeah! I can't wait to see who pairs up with who for dates." For some reason, my cheeks flushed.
"I don't…" I said underneath my breath. To be honest, I was a bit curious about who would even ask me to that dance. If anyone would. Who would I go with? I shook my head and tried to get those annoying thoughts out my head. I'm not about to turn into some giggly little high school girl like Felicia was. Opening the door to our room, I felt all the energy drain out of me.
"Boy I could sleep until the afternoon tomorrow!" Feli said as she began to take off her school uniform.
"Don't we always do that anyway when we don't have classes?" I muttered as I climbed back into bed.
"Yeah, but still!" Not even bothering with the sheets, I closed my eyes. It was finally five a.m when I went to sleep.
