Everybody loves updates! :D Hope you guys like this chapter!
"Luna." The word slipped out of my mouth naturally when I arrived at the designated coffee shop and saw her strawberry blonde hair.
"Hello, Mikan-chan!" She greeted cheerfully with a wave and a sweet smile. I smiled back tightly, setting my bag down and sitting across from her.
She picked up the menu and handed it to me. "Would you like to order anything? I'll pay."
"Actually," I took the menu, but did not bother opening it. "I came here just to talk."
"Oh," Luna smiled. "Of course." She crossed her fingers and lay her chin on top, a—almost sly—smile graced her scarlet lips. "Then let's get right to the point. Do you know that Natsume broke up with me?"
"Huh?" I said out of reflex, blinking in confusion. Did I just hear her correct…?
"Yes, that's right." She leaned back and smiled again. "He broke up with me. I was dumped."
"I-I'm sorry—" I stammered, but she laughed, her voice like little bells.
"Do you know why, hon?" Her smile seemed almost menacing now.
"No." I gulped.
"He wants to get back with you." She took her fork and spun it, her eyes focusing solely on it as she leaned her head on her palm laxly. "Although it's absolutely futile."
I stayed silent as she stopped spinning her fork, her ice blue eyes turning towards me. "After all, you don't like him anymore, right? You've given up after he lost his memories." She leaned again and laughed. "Or perhaps you still like him and will accept him again?"
I pursed my lips, but made no comment as I stared at her.
"You know," she said thoughtfully. "If you really do accept him again, you're just a bitch." I flinched.
"What are you—" I started but she cut me off.
"If you really do accept him again, who is it that you really like?" She pressed on. "Are you trying to search for the old him, or do you love the new him? Do you even know?"
I wanted to say something, I really did, but my throat contracted and my mouth went dry. No sound came out even when I opened my mouth.
"Don't you think he'll be happier with me? Me, a nurse, who loves him for who he is now?" She let out a bitter smile. "You think so too, don't you?"
I wanted to cover my ears and block her out; her mocking tone, her painful words, everything.
"Besides, I feel really bad for that handsome man who confessed to you." I snapped up at her words. Her eyes seemed to stare right into my soul.
"How did you know?" I snapped and she feigned hurt.
"Oh dear," she said. "What a sharp tone. I merely saw you two on the streets coincidentally. How are you planning on answering him?"
"That's none of your business." I said flatly. "I never even said I would get back with Natsume. Whether he's really trying to get me back is still questionable."
"Hm." Her smile disappeared as she crossed her arms in front of her chest. "Remember, you said so yourself."
"I hope you will not make interpretations." I said coldly. "I never gave a definite answer. I will decide when the time comes, and if that time really does come, it is between me and him. It's none of your business. You are merely his ex now, right?" I smiled a tight, bitter smile. "We'll let fate decide whether we both stay his ex, or if one of us can become his girlfriend."
I stood up from my seat and bowed politely. Her lips were tightly pursed and she sat stiffly, not meeting my eyes. "Good day." Then I took my bag and left.
Oh jeez, I thought in dismay. Have I made an enemy?
"Hey, Narumi." I greeted at his doorway. Narumi smiled a bright smile once he saw me and ushered me inside immediately.
"My, my, Natsume." Narumi chuckled lightly to himself. "I don't think you've ever come inside my room, have you?"
"Well, this is a school." I stated, looking around at the teacher's dorm room. "It would be very odd for a student to go to a teacher's room. Besides, I don't remember even if I had."
"That's true." Narumi came out from the kitchen holding two cups of tea. "Here you go."
"Thanks." I mumbled, picking it up and taking a sip. Narumi started chuckling again.
"Natsume Hyuuga…The Natsume Hyuuga saying thanks to me…" He kept mumbling in-between laughs.
"What's so funny?" I asked, annoyed and Narumi put a hand up, trying to stop his laughter.
"Nothing, nothing." He answered, cleared his throat, and sat up straight. "Now tell me all the notable details about your amnesia."
"Um…" I mumbled, not so sure where to start. "Well…" I recited everything that has happened since I lost my memories, and, surprisingly, it's almost been a year and a little more.
I finished my story and Narumi nodded thoughtfully next to me.
"I see…So all this time you've only been able to remember a little bit, and you even have your alice back." Narumi thought for a moment. "You said you were able to remember a little after you absorbed your alice stone?"
"Yeah." I nodded and watched as a huge grin broke out on his face.
"Well then, that just might be your answer!" Narumi clapped cheerfully, leaving me in confusion.
"You see~ Before you left the academy, you and Mikan-chan exchanged alice stones as a vow to always be together." He explained. "It was something similar to an engagement. If you absorb both stones, maybe you'll be able to regain your memories."
"Both alice stones…" I mumbled to myself, nodding in understanding. "I'll try that."
"Yep, yep!" Narumi agreed happily, and I stood up.
"Thank you." I bowed.
"Wow, I must be really fortunate." Narumi giggled. "To have you thank me twice in…half an hour."
"Whatever." I grumbled, waved, and left.
I'll have to go find Mikan if I want to try this out…I sighed.
I rubbed my hair dry with a towel as I walked out of the bathroom, only a pair of sweatpants on.
I slumped on my sofa, staring at my phone. It's probably better to call her tomorrow, since it's already night. I thought as I continued staring my phone down. Should I…?
Just then, my phone rang loudly, making me jump out of my skin.
"Hello?" I answered without looking at the caller.
"Natsume." I recognized the voice.
"Luna." I greeted. "What's up?"
"Have…" She started off shyly. "Have you told Mikan-chan yet?"
"No," I sighed. "I wanted to recover my memories first."
"Oh." She sounded relieved.
"Why?" I asked and she grew silent.
"Well, you see…" Luna's voice was soft. "I met up with her today, and I said that you wanted to get back with her, but she said that it's impossible."
"Huh?" I asked, confused. "What does that mean?"
"Natsume." I froze at her flat tone. "It means she doesn't like you anymore. She doesn't want to get back with you."
"Wha—" I started, but she cut me off.
"I think it would be better if you gave up now." She said. "I believe it would hurt you less."
I became silent at this.
"Well, that's all I wanted to say." She whispered. "I'm sorry, Natsume."
"No," I tried to control my voice. "It's fine." Then she hung up. I stared at my phone again.
Nope, definitely not going to call her now.
I wanted to break something.
I woke up feeling drained, even more tired than I was before I slept. I groaned as I turned on my bed, searching for my phone blindly on the bed stand.
11:30…Was it already this late?
I groaned again. I overslept.
Screw it. I thought bitterly. I don't care anymore.
I got up, went through my daily routine, and pondered on the thought of whether to call Mikan or not again.
This is seriously annoying and frustrating. Finally, I decided to just get it over with. I mean, whether she likes me or not, it's still good to get my memories back, right?
So I went to my contacts and scrolled down to her name, pressing the call button.
"Hello?" Her voice was soft and shy when she answered on the third ring.
"Hey." I greeted nervously, but tried to sound casual. "I have something I want to tell you. Can we meet up at Starbucks© in an hour?"
"Ah…" She trailed off. "I actually have a lot to do these days, I don't think I'll be able to—"
"Please." I cut her off and almost begged. "I won't take long, I just need to try something."
"…Try something?" She asked and I nodded unconsciously.
"I might be able to recover my memories." My mouth went dry. "Help me?"
She paused and I started sweating, anticipating her answer.
"Alright." Then she hung up.
Ok honestly, Starbucks is the only coffee shop I know. Not really, but it's the only coffee shop I like ^.^ I love their iced chocolate. Anyways, I think either the next chapter is going to be the last, or the next next one. And I bet a lot of people are happy that Luna is the antagonist here, right? Give me a review if you agree with me! Hehe I'm just bribing reviews now...Thanks for sticking with me and I hope you'll stay until the end.
