David came down the stairs, one step at a time, yawning. Other than the fact that he felt like he'd been hit by a train and hadn't slept in like days, with every joint in his body hurting, he felt good – content he might say, and he didn't say that too often. The door opened and Jason stepped out of the bedroom looking sleepy and just as broken as he did. Their eyes met and Jason pulled back slamming the door behind him.
"Motherfucker, come back here!" David kicked the door open and saw him lying back with his legs dangling on the side of the bed staring at the ceiling. "What the hell happened in here?" David looked amused at the mess in the room. The curtains were half pulled and just part of the morning light crept in; the sheets were stepped on, crumpled and thrown randomly on the bed; clothes everywhere on the floor, Jason's backpack opened and its content spread around on the chair. The commode on the side of the bed was wiped clean of all books, photo frames; his mom's old lamp was carefully set aside in the armchair next to the balcony door. David turned his eyes to Jason now smiling, looking half drunk and half on Ecstasy.
"Motherfucker, you're purring! You bitch!" They both chuckled and David snapped a punch right in his rib cage. Jason coiled and punched back pulling David on the bed next to him. "At least you took care of mom's lamp! She would've killed us both if something happened to that lamp!"
"I know…" they laughed looking at the ceiling.
"Where is Mela?"
"I don't know. She left earlier. Where is Emily?"
"I don't know she left earlier." They looked at each other for a silent moment then abruptly stood up on the edge of the bed.
"They couldn't have…"
"They don't have…"
And they sprang out of the room and down the stairs. They tried to keep a rather steady less panicked stepped once they reached the corridor but they still slammed into the wall the kitchen door when they burst inside. Mela turned around and looked over her shoulder, holding the pan up. Emily lifted her head from the bowl and stopped mixing the dough for a moment. In the back of the room, Alex looked up as well, setting down the last plate on the table.
"Good morning sleepy heads!" she smiled widely to both of them and went on arranging the table.
"Mela and Em are making pancakes. No maple syrup though."
"We've got some honey, so it's good enough!" Em smiled with a grin looking at their lost faces. They looked gorgeous, like two little boys looking for mommy to give them a snack before going to play in the back yard with the dog. Mela caught up on the feeling and giggled flipping the pancake in the air. Jason came behind her and put his arms around her waist. He inhaled her perfume, snuggling in her hair and then mumbled some sleepy comments as to the pancake landing perfectly back in the pan. Emily watched and smiled seeing them like that. She turned around to grab the dipper and startled when David popped out of no where right next to her. She set the bowl down with her palms going sweaty instantaneously; and it wasn't from the scare.
"You left me!" He frowned and she loved how foggy his eyes still were from their sleepless night together.
"Drama queen!"
"Pfff…" She turned towards the counter ready to pour some dough in Mela's pan when David hurried to land a kiss on her lips, tilting his head ninety degrees to fit under the shelves up on the wall. She laughed and he struggled to kiss her.
"Stand still missy!" he groaned against her lips trying to get her and the more he tried the harder she laughed. Mela took the dipper from her hand and once freed from it she put her arms around his neck to give him a real kiss and David was more than happy to accommodate her tightly against him. Jason watched them shaking his head, with his face still hidden in her hair. Mela pulled away a step to be able to pour the dough in the pan and he moved simultaneously with her, holding tight to her waist. Mela laughed with him so big crawling around on her back.
"Get off her you parasite!" Mela burst into laughter, but Nadeem continued to stare at Jason from the door step. Jason disregarded him completely and moved back to the stove, the same way as before and when Nadeem rebuffed he just, slowly, lifted his hand up, pointing up his middle finger for Nadeem to get a hint.
"You're all over her!"
"That's how I like it!" Mela winked back at Nadeem staring even more confused.
"Thank you babe!" Jason kissed her on the cheek, holding tighter. She glimpsed back at him and Jason bit his lip resisting the temptation to kiss her. She went back to watching the pancake and he finally let go to help Alex with setting the table. He grabbed Nadeem on the way and David followed shortly after letting Emily help Mela.
Alex came at the counter and took the honey and the milk, and Nadeem followed around like a puppy, lingering on the sight of her butt sticking out a bit from the cut jeans, and David slapped him on the back of the head when he came to take the juice from the fridge.
"Bitch!"
"Not your bitch!" and David left satisfied with his remark. Nadeem opened the fridge again to take the peanut butter out.
"Nadeem, can you please bring the cofee? It's in the filter." Nadeem looked awkwardly at the black thick liquid in the coffee pot.
"Sure." He was still dozed with sleep and the frustration of passing out from alcohol before finishing his sex orgy with Alex. Actually, before he even started it. No wonder she was pissed with him and didn't even kiss him this morning. He looked at David and Jason again. The girls had sat down at the table and they helped with sharing the pancakes. The rest of the gang started coming in through the door, one by one, looking like they've all been to the same party.
"Hey guys, I'm so glad I'm not the only one looking like shit!" Alex joked and they mumbled an approval and some bitching in between, upset with the hangover.
"Nadeem, prescribe us something boy!"
"What?" He dragged his feet across the floor and David took the coffee pot from his hands making sure he doesn't spill it if he trips.
"For the hangover. You're the experienced one out of us all!"
"Respect!" Lawrence got up and bowed to him and Karren, his girlfriend applauded. Nadeem felt Alex's eyes on him and he thought of shrinking to hide under the table. He didn't do very well with impressing his new love interest so far.
"Coffee. Coffee. Coffee." He sat down next to David looking at Alex who sat across the table from him. They were the only couple sitting separated and that woke him up more than anything else he'd tried that morning.
Breakfast was good, loud, joyful and too short. The pancakes were a success and Jason fell back in the chair with a full belly.
"Gym!"
"What?"
"That's what's waiting for you when we go back. Gym!" Jason grimaced at the thought. Somehow the sweet life and home cooked meals he'd been having for the past days had eased the macho man thing and he felt ready to grow a belly. David saw him pat his belly and read his mind.
"Not a chance!" Jason chuckled and looked at Mela, licking her lips from the honey. He made an effort and pushed himself her way to clean those lips for her. And God, did he do a thorough job because they got everyone staring at how a French kiss feels like in real life. David patted him between the shoulder blades encouraging him to stop. Jason smiled pressing his lips on Mela's purposefully, one more time, long and lasting and Alex envied her for a second. And when they finally parted Mela blushed with Lawrence cheering at the hot scene. Jason cheered back and the orange juice glasses came together above the table.
The sun outside scorched and it was just 10AM. Mela sheltered her eyes away, looking in the distance from the porch. Jason came behind her wrapping her in his arms, resting his chin on the top of her head. She leaned back making it easier for him and she closed her eyes sinking in the feeling of beatitude warming her body.
"Are you ok?" She sighed but nodded and he kissed her temple. She turned around and sneaked her arms around him, sticking her cheek to his chest. He took advantage and sank his fingers in her hair, getting a hand full of the chestnut curls, massaging it slowly. He realized he loved to do that; something about her hair excited him and he smiled feeling cornered by a feeling he hadn't experienced before. Of course, he'd done this before! But now he enjoyed it. Mela lifted her head up and placed a kiss on his neck.
"Ok, guys, ready?" A mass of people poured from the house laughing and dragging at the same time. David came last, closing the door. Em kept close with her hand stuck in his and the sound of the door closing crept inside her heart and she didn't like it. David turned around putting his sun glasses on; he pushed the backpack up his right shoulder, tightening his hold on Em with his left hand. She looked up to him and she didn't want to put her sun glasses on just yet so she can take a better look at him better. She didn't want anything to stand in the way and she thought how moronic that was. She closed her eyes for a second with a stupid grin on her face praying he didn't see it. He looked horribly wrong; horribly wrong because he wasn't hers to enjoy. She sighed. Fuck fuck fuck!
People got in the cars and David signaled Jason to follow him. Mela grabbed her backpack but Jason took it from her, scooped up his bag from the floor in the same hand so he keeps his other hand free to hold Mela's.
"So who's driving?"
David showed him the key in his hand.
"Really?"
"Really!"
Jason went behind the car and threw all the backpacks in there and David came to put his and Emily's as well. They looked at each other arranging the rest of the shit David kept in his trunk so they make room.
"Just sit in the back man… considering your situation is more severe than mine!" and he glimpsed with a smile on his face.
"Severe?" Jason looked at him a bit surprised. David stepped back slamming the trunk closed, then fixed the sunglasses on his nose.
"At least Emily stays in Austin…" And somehow his voice wasn't mocking and that was a rude wake up call from a beautiful morning. David went around and opened the door to the driver's seat and Jason followed him to sit in the back. A few of the employees at the ranch came to salute them and David honked his horn saluting them as they drove out towards the gate. Soon the dust settled behind them and Mela looked through the back window and part of her thoughts remained locked inside that house, on the 1st floor, in a bedroom with red flowers on the sofa.
Emily looked up at her apartment building; the image was too familiar but somehow she didn't miss it. Annabelle, she missed Annabelle, her little princess. She wished she showed her to David, but he thought about it and decided to keep things short and clean. No need for romantic displays; this was obviously not the case. Jason grabbed the backpacks from the trunk and David turned on the alarm to the car. He and Emily went towards the stair case leaving Mela to wait for Jason. It was too hot.
Mela threw her purse on the shoulder and waited for him to bring the backpacks. She reached for hers and forced it out of his hands. He looked at her a bit confused.
"Don't do it." She looked down and for once she felt grateful she had put her sunglasses on when stepping out of the car.
"It's gotta be here."
Jason was annoyed with her. He knew he was going to make it hard for both of them, especially on her, but he didn't want it – even though she was right. He dropped his backpack to the ground but she kept hers up like a defense against whatever he might want to do. He waited for her to lose the bag but as she didn't he just pulled it out of her arms and threw it next to his.
"Am I allowed to kiss you?" He felt he went back right to day one, the moment before the storm broke. She looked at him and he took her sunglasses off to see her eyes. She frowned with the sudden invasion of sunlight but when he took his sunglasses off she focused better now that she had those deep dark eyes to drown in. She missed him and he was still there. Her lips trembled trying to find the right words. Or any words at all.
"Kiss me." He commanded his heart to take it slowly but it wouldn't listen. It's the heat, we're standing in the fucking sun… But he knew it wasn't that. He pushed her gently against the car and pinned his hands on the sides of her body, coming so close she became almost invisible for whomever walked behind him.
"Ready?" She smiled bitterly with the memories that word brought to her mind. And she said it, and she said it just because it came naturally to her mind and because it was true – no matter the consequences.
"Always." He groaned stirred, frustrated and angry with her still sending him on a rollercoaster of feelings with her change of moods. Don't fucking walk me to the door, but kiss me … always! His hands came in her hair to keep her from hurting the back of her head when he took her mouth over, hungrily, merciless, deepening his kiss with every second passing by. She moaned, more so from the effort off keeping this terrible pain inside her chest and it was digging and digging into her heart, hurting.
Everyone has a soulmate. Everyone has a soulmate. Everyone has a soulmate.
A tear rolled down her cheek and he brushed it away with his thumb. She exhaled forcefully and he pressed his forehead on hers.
"Thank you." She looked at him but she wasn't surprised with his words. He was the perfect guy; Emily said they were star children, born to shine together and for each other, now and forever. A driver honked his horn long and loud to a guy crossing the street without paying attention and a string of insults followed. Star children – in this world? How can I be sure?
"Mela?" She placed both hands on the side of his face and kissed him, nibbling on his lips, inch by inch, little by little, kissing, biting, pulling, licking, kissing and biting again until he pulled back with a fierce pulsation in his groin. His eyes were a vivid reproach to her kiss, bringing him on the border of painful pleasure again.
"You enjoy doing this to me? Hot, cold, cold, hot!" She licked her own lips quickly then looked at him.
"I can't help it. I'm selfish."
"Selfish about what?"
"About saving as much of you as I can in my mind to have for later…" …for much later… "So I need to take in…"
"Then give me back something!"
"I've given you more than you think."
"You gave me nothing but a day and a night together!"
"Considering we're never going to see each other again, a day and a night is a lot of time…" Appreciate it! I've been waiting a lifetime to meet someone like you…
"If that guy's not good for you, then drop'm. Be responsible. Take life in your hands!" She stared at him emptily and the same heaviness of heart she had before meeting him, took over.
"It's not that simple."
"I didn't say it is. I've never been there but it seems to me that you're stalling."
"You can't judge without knowing. It's more than the paper itself, it's more…" I can't fucking explain!
"I wouldn't know 'cause you decided not to tell me! Sharing is not something you do very well!"
Mela pushed him away grabbing her backpack.
"I've shared with you more than I shared with that man in a year. I've shared things with you I haven't shared with anyone!" and she screamed the word and felt bad about it. Jason paced left to right next to the car with her holding her backpack in her arms, ready to psychologically collapse to the pressure of saying goodbye. He finally stopped and dropped with his back against the car, inhaling with a deep sigh, to hide his face in his hands. She came and put her left arm around his neck but he remained stiff at her touch.
"Please… You'll make me cry." Jason frowned still upset. She tightened her hold on him and let go of the backpack to caress his cheek. "Jason? Please…" He continued to look down with the same bitter disappointment in his eyes. She gave up, gathering her lips in a thin line as she pulled away from him slowly. Before letting go completely she tilted her head a bit to place a gentle kiss on his forehead, adding a little bit of his scent to her memories of him. His hands came around her crushing her against him and she barely had the time to tuck her nose in the crook of his neck to be able to breathe. Her body shook a bit from the crying and Jason pulled on that long hair and sank his face in it, wanting to make her hurt the way her crying hurt him. What the fuck is going on?
"Mela…" she nodded her fingers behind his back and didn't let go. "Baby…"
"Stop calling me that." She barely spoke but still fought him.
"I swear to God Mela…" but he stopped before telling her she was on her way for a serious smack bottom. She started walking her palms on his back. "Are you scanning my body now for your memory box?" She giggled shortly.
"Yes…"
"Anything else?" She finally looked at him and he'd never seen her this way. I'd never seen you like this in our three goddamn days together! "I can't stand to see your eyes like this…" and he didn't realize he said it out loud. He cleaned the eyelids from the heavy tears still hanging in then kissed them in turn, until they dried. Then grabbed her backpack and put it in her arms. Her heart pounded like crazy. This is it! This is it!
"I'll see you again Mela!"
Thank you, thank you, thank you for saying that! There were 99% chances of that not being true but hearing it from him changed the odds in her insane hopeless heart.
"Are you sure you don't want my number?" She smiled.
"I thought it was the other way around."
"I make compromises…" but he was serious. She took a step closer to him and with renewed courage tiptoed to kiss him, long and hard. Then took the same step back and looked him in the eye.
"We'll meet again if we're meant for each other… right?" What the fuck did I just say?! I probably shocked the shit out of him right now! Sex is awesome but you just overdid it! He's not looking for this! Jason read the panic on her face and smiled, then put his glasses on. It did take him by surprise, which was unexpected with this girl always surprising him so he thought he'd got used to it. Hell, there was much to learn about her. He looked at her through the dark lenses, still motionless, livid and cold.
"Yeah, and with a little bit of help…" She didn't know what he meant, but she never thought he'd say anything like that. Maybe he was shocked too and just reacted nicely to her dreamy fairytale thinking.
Behind the sunglasses he took one last look at her, head to toe and he barely kept a sigh inside. He looked down but the way he moved looked more like a bow.
"Take care Mela." He turned around and left. She turned around and left. She turned around again but he had gotten inside the car in the driver's seat and stared through the windshield. She turned around again and left. This time for good.
The door closed behind Emily and Annabelle came running to her stopping in midway to take a good look at the big fellow behind her mistress. Emily glimpsed quickly to see how big was the mess they left behind yesterday, but thank God, the tornado had only swept through the bedroom not through the living room. She dropped her backpack on the sofa and turned around with an already prepared mimic. I'm so cool, very cool, really cool! David took his glasses off, wiping the sweat above his upper lip with the back of his hand. His t-shirt was wet on the chest and all over his back with the leather seat in the car attached to his skin for like 45 minutes during the drive. She wished she'd get this over with faster, but she was too much of an idiot and her life was never that simple for things to just go away.
"Wait…" Retard! She went to the bathroom and grabbed a towel from the closet. She saw her reflection in the mirror when she wanted to turn the lights off. For a moment she thought that being home would help and she'd feel more comfortable. But it was an illusion, he was making her nervous no matter the time and place. Shit!
She found him seating relaxed on the couch having a one-on-one conversation with her cat and Annabelle listened carefully. He looked up and saw her standing there with the towel in her hand.
"Thanks!" He got up and took the t-shirt off, struggling with it being stuck to his back. She passed him the towel and he wiped quickly, smelling at the armpits with a funny face.
"I guess if you're still standing, it can't be all that bad!" Emily burst into laughter and took the towel from him. He turned his back at her and pointed at the drops of sweat coming down his spine. She held the laughter back and cleaned him, from the back of his head, scrubbing a bit through the very short thick hair to down his waist line and a little inside his shorts.
"I can take them off!" he hurried to turn around and grab the buttons. She stopped him just in time.
"No need." She smiled and their eyes locked for a long moment.
"Are you going to avoid me for the rest of your life now?"
"Possibly."
"Idiot!" She took the towel from her hands and threw it on the sofa pulling her closer. He looked down careful not to step on Annabelle who was now cuddling against his legs. She dreaded coming so close in contact with his hot skin. Memories of the previous night were too vivid in her mind. But he insisted and in seconds she was wrapped away to his chest with him peering in her eyes from somewhere up.
"Shorty!" Em smiled with a frown.
"I'm not short, you're too tall."
"Of course!" he smiled bending down to kiss her and she knew she'd lose it. The moment their lips touched a fire so strong ignited inside her that she tried to back away. But he wouldn't let her. His arms came up her back and scooped her up, pressing her more against him, until she almost didn't touch the floor anymore. She gave in and put her arms around his neck and he used her approval to take things a step further. The thought of Mela and Jason right behind them didn't bother them at all. He brought her up in his arms and she nodded her legs around his waist, then started walking down the corridor towards the bedroom. The cooler air on the corridor woke her senses and she managed to react to his intentions.
"David… David!" He stopped half way through and pushed her against the wall, pressing his forehead on hers. He was already breathing hard and her breathing matched his. They had to stop; this is not how she envisioned their civilized, grown up good bye. The semi-darkness in the corridor helped with calming her down.
"We gotta say good bye." She adjusted her voice trying to not let it sound like they've just had sex on that wall.
"Right." He smashed his mouth on hers and she moaned feeling him push inside her thighs.
"David!" and this time she was firmer.
"Yes m'am!" but not him. He was going for her and he was going for her hard.
"I'm serious." And a flicker of fear of not letting him go too far again, of being here with him where she's been with her boyfriend before, sparked inside her. But he ignored her worry and kissed her on the cheek.
"Don't freak out now Em! Bear with me! I'm only trying to get a date here!"
"Date?!" We can't date!"
"I know I know, but at least see me one more time." He kissed down her neck licking all the way to her collar bone and she just threw to the fucking winds whatever decency she'd gathered that morning. She forced her lips on his biting him with a vengeance.
"Ouch. Go on."
"You are…" and she clenched her teeth keeping it to herself. "… completely ignorant to what I've told you yesterday." He smiled and kissed her one last time before putting her down.
"I remember perfectly what you told me yesterday. But I'm leaving next week Em. What harm is there to see me one more time and then I'm out of your life." He swallowed in difficultly ingesting his own words. She breathed in nervously.
"Then why meet again?" He didn't seem to have an answer.
"'Cause I wanna take you out for dinner. I know this little Italian restaurant down town. Quiet." She looked at him a bit surprised and ashamed at the same time. "You are such an idiot, Emily! You think I'd meet you just for sex!"
"Well you said… we've got potential!"
"And we do!" His open palm landed on her chest to remind her of her heart still beating like crazy because of them being so close again to jumping into bed. "But I also said it counts as much as feelings and vice-versa!"
"You think I'm able to go have dinner with you and then not take you back home?"
"Are you?"
"No."
"Me neither!" Em wanted to hate him for doing this. But instead she smiled punching him in the chest.
"I like you Em. I want you Em! I don't give a shit it's just been three days! Please, meet me on Wednesday."
"We're not calling it a date." She pointed at him with the best serious face she had in store.
"No way! We're calling it sex night…ahh… with dinner!"
"Oh fuck you!"
"Now?!" and he did that funny college boy look, that smart ass sneaky look that got to her each time. They kissed and held for a while trying to put all those indecent thoughts behind.
"I'll call you…"
"You want the number?" Em came back to the living room with him following.
"I could use it…" and he sounded chocked a bit and she turned around to see him staring down at the swelling in his pants. Then up to her with this most innocent surprised look ever. He straightened his back, then lowered his shoulders in defeat.
"I won't make it till Wednesday!" Em grabbed the t-shirt from the sofa and threw it at him with a responsible attitude on. Then went at the door and opened it waiting for him to get out. She really didn't want him to go, but she loved the game and she had so little time to play it. She knew he'd call her. He dragged his feet out of the apartment then turned around posing himself right before her as she was getting ready to close the door.
"Number please?!" And the look in his eyes said it all; there was no escaping him.
She told him the number and he buttoned the digits in his cell. She peaked in and saw her name on his cell: Little lady.
"Is that a code name?"
"Yes, I don't want other girls to know." Her stunt face made him laugh.
"Idiot! I'm not seeing anyone!" She closed her eyes for a moment taking all the hot air that she could fit in her lungs. She didn't have the time to open them that he kissed her, long and sweet. He kept his eyes at the level of hers when he was done and smiled.
"Answer my phone."
"Yes."
"Promise?" She kept silent for a second.
"I promise."
"I know where you live!" And she laughed, then suddenly tiptoed and put her arms around him. He held her tight happy with the unexpected burst of cuddliness. "That's more like it." He put her back down then stole another kiss. Em looked around.
"Where's Mela and Jason?"
"Probably stayed behind to talk." Em's face shadowed for a moment. And David didn't comment, not knowing what to say. Their situation was much worse than theirs. And for a second the fact that he'd thought about this so seriously, weighing their chances to be together for good made him bounce back inside his head. Shit!
"Go…" He kissed her again and she pushed him away. He threw the t-shirt on his shoulder walking backwards and she loved to see him in broad day light half naked winking at her. He stopped at the end of the staircase and waved at her for a moment with a deep eye connection burning between them. Then turned around and disappeared and she remained staring at the waves of hot air still stirred with his motion down the stairs.
"What the fuck just happened this weekend?" David looked straight through the windshield. Jason drove fast, without saying a word. He didn't even turn the radio on.
"Nothing. We got laid." And he kept driving his voice, calm, deep and angry.
"Yeah…" David looked outside the window, massaging up his forearm caught in his own thoughts. "I'm seeing Em again this Wednesday". Jason didn't look at him but he did lose track of the highway way for a moment.
"Good." Somehow a rock has found its way on his chest and he found it hard to breath.
"Are you gonna call her?" David looked at his friend, moving robotically in the driver's seat. He switched into fifth gear and he became a little unease with the situation. He didn't like it when Jason drove manually and fast. And if it were for his racing mood alone, but now he was angry too.
"She didn't give me her number." And he said it so annoyed and bitterly that David pulled back from asking anything else. But he couldn't help it.
"I'm sure Emily has it." Jason slammed the breaks incredibly fast, signaling right before pulling the car abruptly on the side of the road. He turned around to look at David throwing his sun glasses above the wheel. He breathed heavily and it took him a few minutes before calming enough to be able to speak.
"What do you want from me David? You want me to go back and ask for it on my knees? It was great, had lots of fun, we fucked like rabbits. That's that! She's going back to her man!"
"Husband!"
"Fuck you!"
"Listen here you son of a bitch! This is different!"
"Yeah! She's married, that's the only difference!"
"Ok, fuck it, there's no talking to you! Drive, I wanna go home!" David fell back in the chair, now angry as well. David pushed into first gear and the car took off slowly. He kept driving on the side lane, slowly, not being able to focus on going faster. David turned towards him again.
"Jason…" The car stopped again and Jason remained with his eyes set on the horizon. "Come on man talk to me." Jason took a deep breath then looked at him, saddened with having argued with David.
"I'm sorry man."
'Don't be a moron, I don't give a shit About your apologies! I wanna know what's going on with you and Mela. I've never seen you like this."
"I don't know Dave. I just don't know. I have these very weird reactions around her. I care for things and I don't know why I care, I look at her and she's not like, the best piece of ass I've ever had or seen, but she gets me so fucking hard and I have no clue what's the mechanism behind this whole shit. She does nothing to… you know, nothing. And she's not playing me around either… I don't know. Three days and I could back for her now to the airport and stop her from getting on that plane. You tell me what's going on bro, you tell me." David chuckled tilting his head back through the open window.
"Fuck if I know man, I've been struck by lighting with Em."
"Motherfucker, you're useless! Why do I keep you around?" Jason smiled putting the
sunglasses back on.
"So we can both be useless." They chuckled and David pulled a bottle of water from the back seat. David stepped on the gas and the car went back on the highway and this time around he went back to his usual dangerous driving.
"You'll see her again. I know you will."
"Yeah." And David ran some renewed courage in his voice. "Only if I go see her. She's a dreamer. She will never fight for us." And it turned him on just hearing himself say us as if an us actually existed.
"Maybe her dreaming got you together in the first place. She's very fearful. It probably asked a lot of her to let you in."
"Since when the fuck are you a specialist in human feelings?"
"Since 3 days ago!" Their laughter got caught in the wind and blown out of the open window as the car sped down the highway.
