Shizuo POV
Yumiko thinks she's pregnant, that's not possible I can't be. I don't know what to do with a baby, or how to take care of one. What if I hurt him? Or her? What if she has twins or triplets? I… The door opened slowly and Yumiko walked staring at the test. Believe it or not I couldn't be any more afraid. I watched her as she walked over to the closet and started to get dressed.
"Where are you going?" I asked following her downstairs. "I'm going to the hospital to make sure this test is true, if it is Shizuo we're going to have a baby a little tiny precious baby." She said smiling widely. I sat down on the couch and just looked at the carpet, I couldn't be any happier but for some reason I couldn't show it like Yumi. I heard shuffling and the front door slam meaning Yumiko was upset, very upset.
Yumiko POV
"You don't understand Celty he didn't even seem excited that I'm pregnant, he wants to marry me I would think sooner or later he would want kids." I said as she pulled me into a tight embrace. "Well you did just tell him you're going to have a baby, it takes time for something like that to sink in, especially if it's the baby's father." "I guess you're right, it just kind of hurts to know that hemight have doubts." She nodded. Shinra sat down on the couch beside me and gave me a large smile, "I'm sure Shizuo will come around he isn't that great when it comes to showing is emotions. If you want you can stay here for the night and I'll leave to let you ladies have some privacy." I shook my head getting up. "No, I'm alright I'm going to go back home, thanks so much you guys I'll see you later."
The house was quiet, Shizuo must have left after I did. I felt my stomach start to scream in pain from not eating in a while. In the middle of making myself dinner I heard the front door open and close and a very loud Mara. "I made lots of friends daddy and everyone was so nice to me they gave me tons of cookies." "I'm glad you had a good day at school." Mara ran over to me when she realized I was in the kitchen and hugged my legs. "Mommy I was telling daddy about my awesome day at school I had tons of fun and I even got homework that I'm going to need help with." She said putting her backpack on the table and pulling out papers.
"Mara I have something to ask you?" I said putting a plate of fried rice in front of her. She smiled and looked up at me. "Would you be happy with a little brother or sister?" She gasped and jumped up and down in her chair. "Yes, yes, yes, I would love to be a big sister, are you bringing home a sister or brother? I hope it's a sister but it's alright if I get a brother I can teach him how to play ball." I smiled kissing her head and walking upstairs, being hungry and tried are not two things that should go together.
"Yumiko, we need to talk." I ignored Shizuo and continued walking until I made it to the room. "Yumiko I'm serious we need to have this baby talk." "There's nothing to talk about you obviously don't want this baby and I really don't care anymore." He grabbed my arm and pulled me into an embrace. "You are so wrong, I love you and I want this baby. I am still in complete shock about you being pregnant but it was going to happen sooner or later. I don't want to say this but I am terrified, I feel like I'm not going to be a good father." I sighed giving him a small smile. "You're acting like you're the only one in this, if you make a mistake it's alright. I'm going to be right there beside you we're going to do this together Shizuo." I said putting my hand on my flat stomach. He gave me a small smile and kissed my forehead.
Shizuo POV
It's been quite a few months now since I found out Yumiko was pregnant and she's looks like she swallowed a watermelon. She spends most of her time at home or at her mother's house and is probably the most moody woman ever. She eats like it's going out of style but for some reason she's even more beautiful than before. "Mama you look like you ate a horse your tummy is so big." Mara said walking downstairs with Yumiko right behind her holding her swollen abdomen. "Your baby sister is in here that's why?" "Oh babies come from inside mommy's can they come from daddy's too?" Yumiko looked over at me and gave me a small smile then shook her head. "No only mommy's can have babies." Mara nodded before running over to me and hugging my leg. "Good morning daddy, mommy said babies only come from mommy's how do they get in there?" I shook my head and patted her head. "Baby when you get a little bit older I'll tell you about babies and where they come from alright." Yumiko said taking Mara's hand. "I'm going to walk her to school I'm tired of being in the house so a nice walk would be nice." I nodded and kissed her forehead. "I'll see you after work."
Yumiko POV
I'm so tired of being in the house I don't even know if I want to go back, maybe ill go check on the bakery and see how my little protégées are doing. I made my way to the bakery and was completely shocked at the state of it. The new teens I had hired were obviously not doing their jobs. "What is going on here?" I yelled. All of them got quiet and were shocked when they saw me standing at the door. "Miss. Yumiko, I'm so sorry I tried I really did." Rika said running up to me. I sat her down at the nearest table and walked into the back of the store. "Alright I want every one of you in the front of the store now." The three teens ran pass me and stood beside Rika. "This woman right here is the acting manager and as her coworkers all of you have disrespected her and me by running around and acting like a bunch of hooligans. I'm very disappointed in all of you and I hope you do realize that today was your last day. Grab your things and I will give you your last paycheck in cash and then you may be off." They did as they were told and I went into office grabbing each of their money orders. "I wish I didn't have to do this but you left me with no choice." "I'm so sorry Miss. Yumiko I wish I could take it back I knew it was a temporary job, I'm just really sorry." Nanami said taking her money and following her two companions. "Miss. Yumiko what are you going to do now." Rika asked me and I pulled some dough out of her hair. "We're closing her down for the rest of the month, I can't hire anyone and shouldn't be stressing over this place right now." I said smiling at her. "I can get Amaya and we can come in on Mondays it's a slow day so it shouldn't cause us much trouble." Rika said grabbing her things and following me out of the store. "That would be nice I would like that and I'll help you for half of the day just because I don't want to be in the house all the time it gets really annoying having nothing to do." Rika nodded and smiled at me.
I slowly made my way to Shinra's place, I still had the rest of the day might as well spend it at someone else's home. When I got to the apartment the door was slightly ajar and I could see someone pacing. I knocked before opening the door slowly. A man with a gas mask stopped and watched me. "My my you are the most beautiful creature I have ever came in contact with and with child as well." The man said putting his hand on my swollen belly. "Did you break into this home?" He laughed shaking his before sitting down on the couch. Shinra walked out of the bedroom. "YUMIKO! Look at you you're so big I didn't believe Shizuo when he said you we're pregnant but look at your stomach it's so huge." Shinra yelled rubbing my belly. I chuckled and sat down on the couch beside the strange man. "Shizuo always says it looks like I swallowed a basketball, I just think he's more afraid of having this baby than I am." Shinra smiled and rubbed my belly. "Do you mind if I do a small checkup?" Shinra asked pulling out a large bag. "Actually I do mind I'd rather not go into labor early." Shinra shook his head as he put the stethoscope on my swollen belly.
"You and the baby both sound healthy, is he or she and by the looks of it I believe you're having a girl your belly is kind of high. How many weeks are you by the looks of it I'd say you were about 30 maybe 34 weeks. He looked up and me and sighed nodding slightly. "I'm actually 33 weeks, and thanks for telling me it's a girl I already knew that. I might have to make you my primary doctor because you told me all that just by looking at me. I said chuckling. He rubbed my belly while taking out more tools from him medical bag and I knew that was my cue to leave. "Well it was nice seeing you Shinra and strange man I'm sure Shizuo is looking for me and knowing him he's not going to be happy that I'm gone so bye." I said getting up and walking out the door. I could faintly hear Shinra's goodbye as the elevator doors closed.
I walked around for a while before I felt my stomach growling, oh man I will I make it to the house or do I have to stop and buy something? My stomach let out another roar and before I knew it I was at a steakhouse. "Yumiko what are you doing here?" I turned around to see Tom with Shizuo hot on his tail. He walked up to me and frowned at someone behind me. "What's wrong with you?" He pulled me into the steakhouse and we seated ourselves around a table in the corner. "Shizuo what is your damage?"
"Izaya is here I don't want him anywhere near you. Knowing him he might find some way to hurt you or force you into labor and I can't have that happen." He said putting him arm around my shoulder. I shook my head as he put his other hand on my moving belly she moved so much when Shizuo was around I can already see she's going to be a daddy's girl. "Yumiko what should we name her?" I shrugged looking over at the large steak that was making its way over to our table and smiled. "Um, excuse me sure do you think I can't have some ketchup I can't eat this thing dry." The waiter studied me before nodded and walking away. "Yumiko I'll be right back." Shizuo said getting up and walking off. "Yumi-chan is that you?" I looked up from my steak to see Izaya with his signature smirk. Go figure, I feel bad for the owner of this restaurant once Shizuo returns. "Hello Izaya, can we talk when Shizuo isn't he…" "Look at your belly I heard you were pregnant but I didn't really believe it congratulations Yumiko do you mind if I can touch your tummy?" He asked sitting down beside me. "Izaya can we not do this today." I could feel my anxiety level rising I was getting very upset. "Izaya!" Damn it Shizuo is back. I felt my chair being pulled and I was no longer in front of my steak but behind Shizuo. "Hello Shizu-chan how are you? Like I told Yumi-chan congratulations on your baby, you must be so excited to be bringing a child into the world." I put my hand on Shizuo's back and he instantly relaxed and looked back at me giving me a small smile. I smiled back at him before he looked back at Izaya. "Let's go Shizuo we can eat at home please." He nodded before slowly turning to me and kissing my forehead. "Good job Shizu-chan I'm so proud of you your finally whipped I never thought that someone would have so much control over you." I felt Shizuo's body tense up after Izaya's comment and I knew he wasn't going to stop until everything was destroyed. Before I had the chance to move I was pushed to the ground and it was painful. I felt nothing but pain radiating from my body it felt like I was in shock. I felt the baby squirming in stomach and I knew something was wrong, something was really wrong I've never felt her move like this. "SHIZUO!" I could hear all the background noise stop all the commotion that had been Shizuo and Izaya stopped. "Yumiko! Are you alright what happened?" Shizuo yelled running over to me. I looked down at the clear puddle under and noticed it was turning red. "The baby, get me to the hospital."
Shizuo POV
So much was happening all at once and I wasn't sure what to do. I made it to the hospital in record time and as soon as I got there they took her from me and I didn't know what was happening I didn't know who to turn to. It felt like my world was turning upside down and it was all my fault. I could lose the baby and Yumiko all because I couldn't walk away I had to turn around I had to fight. I wasn't sure how many hours went by and my mind was slowly spinning into madness. I wanted more than anything to just break down all the walls in this stupid hospital to get to Yumiko. Chieko's here? When did she show up? "Mr. Heiwajima." I almost ran over the nurse when she called me. "How is she? How is the baby? Are they going to be alright?" She sighed before walking me into the hall. "Your fiancé is going to fine she's going to have to stay here for a while though. The fall was pretty ser…" "What about the baby she's ok right?" I yelled cutting her off. "At the moment she's ok but there's a chance she might not make it. Would you like to see her Mr. Heiwajima?" I nodded slowly as she led me down the hall into a small room. Yumiko was lying in bed looking very exhausted, she was completely passed out. I wanted to badly to run up to her and hold her but I couldn't. "Don't worry about her we gave her some painkillers to make her sleep easier. Over there in the incubator is where your pride and joy is. If you want your more than welcome to stay until your fiancé wakes." She motioned to what looked like a little glass box with wires coming out of it before leaving the room. I'm pretty sure my heart skipped a few beats when my eyes met the tiny being lying in the glass container. I couldn't explain the feelings that were going through my body right now but I loved it, I loved her and I didn't want to leave her.
A light cough pulled me out of my thoughts, I looked over at Yumiko. Her eyes were slightly open and she was looking over at me. I walked over to her and held her cold hand in mine. "Isn't she beautiful?" Her voice was soft and light. I kneed beside her and kissed her hand before putting my head down. "Yumiko I'm so sorry I really am I never meant to hurt you and because I did I feel like I don't deserve you. I've never really felt like I deserved you from the beginning but I knew that I loved you and I didn't want to leave you you're the best thing that happened to me and I didn't want to lose you." She closed her eyes and sighed before giving me a small smile. "She's going to be alright I know it. She's strong like her daddy." She said the painkiller must have really been working because she was already knocked out again. I promise you I won't ever hurt you again Yumiko.
