How we became a Family Ch.10
(Alice's POV)
After em and Bella got home from their outing my whole family was acting weird. Mom would kiss em and Bella whenever she got the chance.
Not even two days after they got home Bella became ill.
Mom insisted she go see Carlisle but Bella refused.
I knew they were keeping something from me because they would be talking about something and I would come in the room they would stop.
I was assuming it had to do with Carlisle.
Today Carlisle would be coming here to make a house call after school.
After being sick for a week without getting better mom has had enough.
Bella was at home sleeping and em and I are supposed to get her homework.
",Hey Alice can I talk to you?" jasper asks after 6th hour.
"Um sure" I say and he leads me to the side of the hallway away from everyone else.
"Alice I know you have had a rough past and I'm willing to wait but there's no time like the present. Alice would you accompany me to see a movie on Friday night?" jasper says nervously but asks the last part.
"As in like a date?" I ask and jasper nods and I grin.
"Of course I will accompany you to the movies!" I say happily and a grin breaks on my face. Jasper stands there shocked but then grins.
He hugs me and for a second I tense but then relax. Mom is going to be proud of me! Im finally trusting another man.
"I'm warning you though Emmett is going to give you the if you hurt my sister speech" I say and jasper nods.
I hold his hand as we walk to out lockers. Em sees us and his eyes narrow at the sight of jaspers hand in mine. I narrow my eyes as I see him holding roses hand.
"What the hell?" em and I say at the same time. Rose and jasper chuckle.
"Rose asked me out this weekend on a date" em says.
"Jasper asked me out to a movie" I say.
Em narrows his eyes and grab jaspers by his shirt. He walks him away from us and I look and see Emmett is talking angrily to him.
"Doesn't he know jasper and Edward will do the if you hurt my sister speech to him?" Rose asks.
Edward rounds the corner and walk briskly over to them. Em is cornered and now Edward and jasper are speaking angrily at him. Rose and I laugh at the scene infornt of us.
"Something funny ladies?" Mr. Greene ask walking past us.
"Nothing sir" we say together and he walks past us and gives us a weird look.
"Boys no fighting" he says passing the boys. They walk back to us.
"Do you have all of Bella's homework?" I ask em and he nods and produces a folder full. I pull out the few classes I have with her and hand them to him to put into the folder.
"Do you mind if we come with?" Edward asks us.
"It depends are you going to ask Bella out?" em asks.
"Maybe" Edward says and rose and I giggle and em looks pissed.
"She's sick!" em says angrily.
"I'll wait for her to be well to take her out" Edward says.
Rose, jasper and I walk away as em gives Edward the speech. I wait for em by the jeep and rose and jasper wait at Edward's Volvo. After a few minutes the two of them come out.
We all get in our cars and Edward follows em to the house. When we get there moms car is in the driveway. We all head in and set our backs down.
"Alice can you take me to Bella?" Edward asks and i nod. Em distracts mom while I lead Edward upstairs to bellas room. Bella is sitting up in bed coughing.
"Edward get out. I don't want you to see me like this" she exclaims with what little voice she has.
Edward walks in anyway and sits next to her. I leave them and when im walking back down I hear Bella squeal. Mom goes up stairs and rushes past me. I smile as I hear mom squeal as well.
(bella's POV)
I'm sitting up in bed coughing when my door opens. Alice walks in with Edward.
"Edward get out. I don't want you to see me like this" I say with what little voice I have. Edward ignores my pleads and walks over to my bed and sits down next to me. Alice walks out and closes the door behind her.
"Bella i was wondering once you feel better if you would go on a date with me" he asks and i squeal and nod my head yes.
The squealing brings mom into my room and she looks panicked but then sees Edward.
"He asked me on a date" I say and mom squeals.
"Oh that's wonderful baby. But let's see what Carlisle says first" mom says and i nod.
Edward and mom leave my room and I lay back in bed feeling tired. I hear the doorbell and my heart races knowing its Carlisle.
A minute later there's a knock on the door before it opens a crack.
Carlisle peers in waiting for me to invite him in. I wave him in and he walks in. he closes the door behind him and walks to the bed.
"Hey sweetie how are you feeling?" he asks as he sets his bag down.
"Horrible" I say with what little voice I have.
He goes to the door and calls for mom. Mom comes in and Carlisle sits on the bed next to me. He grabs his stethoscope from his bag.
"Since she has no voice I'll need you to tell me her symptoms and how this progressed" he says.
"Two days after she got back from camping with em she came down with a cold. Well it didn't get better and then two days ago she started to not be able to breathe right and she started to lose her voice. She also has body rocking coughs" mom says and Carlisle nods and listens to my chest.
"Take a deep breath" he request and I do and it brings a coughing fit. Carlisle pats my back gently. He has me take one more deep breath and then puts his stethoscope away.
He takes out a pen light and a tongue depressor.
"Say ahh" he requests and I stick my tongue out and do as he says. After looking down my throat he feels the glands on my neck while taking my temperature.
"She has a slight fever" he says and mom nods. After a few more minutes of him examining me he pulls back.
"It looks like her cold turned into acute bronchitis. I'll prescribe antibiotics and an inhaler and put a humidifier in here with Vicks liquid in it." He says and mom nods.
"Also no talking for at least three days and to help your voice I recommend getting some peppermint hard candies. Also drink plenty of fluid and to help clear the phlegm in your lungs I suggest steam treatments, boil some water and stand over the pan and breathe in the steam" he says and I nod.
"When will she better?" mom asks.
"I would say sometime next week but until then bed rest. And I'll come back in a few days to see how she's doing. If her symptoms get worse or she can't breathe call me immediately' he says and mom nods.
"Rest sweetie" Carlisle says and pulls my blankets back up. I lay back down and mom and he exit my room.
(Esme's POV)
"Carlisle can I talk to you in my office for a second?" I ask and he nods and follows me up to the office. I close the door after Carlisle enters.
"Did you know that our kids had things for one another?" I ask.
"I thought something was different the way they have been acting lately" Carlisle says.
"is this going to effect our relationship?" I ask.
"Of course not love" Carlisle says.
"Carlisle if you and I ever get married our kids would be siblings then" I say.
"So you do think of marriage" Carlisle asks and i nod.
"Love let me tell you something" Carlisle says and I nod and look at him.
"Rose, Edward and jazz are adopted. Edwards's parents died of the influenza. They got a rare strain of it. I was there care giver and I couldn't let Edward go to foster care. Rosalie's mother died when she was young and rose was put into foster care. One night Edward and I were out in the city having a bonding evening when we heard screams come from an alley. We found Rosalie being raped by a few teens from the foster home. I took her to the hospital and fell in love with her. Jasper came to me from Texas. His aunt Maria was using him as a slave and a recruiter for other young kids. She ran a factory." Carlisle says and I nod.
"I'm happy there going to be happy" Carlisle says.
"I'm just worried about Alice" I say as Carlisle brings me into his arms.
"I know you are love but she will be fine. Rose has taught both my boys how to treat a lady right" Carlisle says and kisses me.
"can I tell em about rose so he knows to be on the safe side?" I ask and Carlisle nods.
"That would be a good idea. I have a question for you though" Carlisle says and i nod.
"Is Bella still a virgin? He asks and I nod.
" I just need to know so I can talk to Edward about it and i will talk to jasper about Alice if that's alright with you" Carlisle says. "its fine by me" I say and he nods and leans over to kiss me.
" I better get home 'he says as we break the kiss.
I nod sadly and we walk downstairs. The children are sitting on the couch. Em is with rose, Alice with jasper and Edward it sitting next to jasper.
"I'm headed home kids, as long as its ok with esme you can stay" Carlisle says.
"Its fine by me" I say and the kids smile.
I head to the kitchen and make a snack and bring them out by them. I head back into the kitchen to start dinner. I make homemade chicken soup and sub sandwiches.
Right before I serve dinner the Cullen's leave, I grab a tray and place a sandwich on a plate, some soup in a bowl and Gatorade.
"Alice pull out dinner dishes for us please." I request as I walk to the stairs.
Alice gets up and walks to the kitchen as I walk upstairs to Bella's room. I knock and open the door and Bella is lying in bed reading a book.
"I brought dinner" I say and Bella places the book down.
I set the tray done on her lap and kiss her forehead. She smiles and I leave and head downstairs. Alice and em have the table set and moved the food to the table. I sit down and we say grace and then dig in.
"After dinner I'm going to the store. Alice if you want come you can. Em I need you to stay here to watch Bella" I say and em nods.
"Sure mommy ill come" Alice says and I nod. For the rest of dinner we make small talk.
After we finish em goes and loads the dish washer and puts food away while I make a list of what I need from the store.
I also plan on talking to Alice In the car and when I got home have a talk with em.
"Come on ali" I call as I grab my phone and purse. "Em make sure to check up on your sister and if anything happens call" I ay d h nods and heads upstairs to go get bellas tray and bring it back down. Alice and i go to my car and get in. once were buckled I pull out of the garage. "Alice today Carlisle and I were talking about you kids dating and i hope you're not mad but I told Carlisle he could tell jasper about your rape so jasper wont give you flash backs or anything like that" I say and Alice nods. "That's ok mommy. Now I don't have to tell him myself" She says and I smile glad she wasn't mad at me. We get to the store and split up the list.
Within twenty minutes we have everything and are on our way home. When we get home alice takes the groceries into the kitchen to put them away.
I head upstairs to see where em was. I find him in his room.
"Hey mom" he greets as I walk in.
"We need to talk about something" I say and em nods and sits up and puts his phone on his night stand.
"tonight Carlisle and i talked about you kids dating and if we could continue dating. As he was explaining we could some information came up that I need to tell you" I say and em nods.
"You need to know that rose went through the same situation as Alice. Rose was gang raped." I say and em gasps.
"Why would someone do that" he says shocked.
"I don know son, but just treat Rosalie right ok" I say and he nods.
"Thanks for warning me mom" em says and hugs me.
"Your welcome son, now time for bed. You have school in the a.m." I say and em nods.
I leave the room and go check on Bella before going to my office to do some paper work for a client.
