(past) A/n: Oh my goodness! It's been so long since I've updated this… and I'm so sorry! It's so close to being done too… gah I hate writer's block /: I'm determined though, to try to finish older stories. This… being one of my oldest haha; rereading, I even can see my improvement marked as the chapters progress. Man. The first chapters are so bad xD
Anyhow, enjoy!

Demyx gasped in both wonder and awe, catching glimpses of Zexion's darkened home as the shorter man pulled him along quickly. Demyx had never seen so many beautiful and expensive things before in his entire life. They didn't stop until they entered what appeared to be Zexion's private chambers and the man had both shut and locked the door behind him.
"Your home is beautiful. I've never seen so many lavish things," the blond whispered in amazement. Zexion's lips curled upward and he couldn't keep himself from smiling. Demyx was so genuine.
"Pick something to keep." The blond stared, eyes widened and jaw slackened.
"What?"
"Pick something to-" Demyx blushed darkly.
"Oh no, I couldn't possibly! I don't deserve any of these beautiful things…" Zexion's expression became fond. Especially you… he thought.
Aquamarine met impossibly sharp blue eyes unwaveringly. Zexion was the most beautiful thing in the entire room- to Demyx anyway. Gently and discreetly, his eyes roamed over the shorter boy, drinking in his image in his peripheral vision as he pretended to look elsewhere. The smaller man was wearing knee high black boots and black pants that matched. He had a white billowing shirt and a grey vest that complimented his hair quite perfectly. However the clothes themselves weren't what caught Demyx's attention. It was the way that they clung to his body that did. The blond shuddered, imagining what that beautiful body would look like bare. The clothing made it easy enough—as they left little room for imagination. He peeked into those blue eyes again, to see if Zexion had noticed. By the way that he was smirking, Demyx knew that he had.
"Please do. I want you to have something to remember me by, always," he said pleasantly. Demyx's gaze softened. "You may have anything you'd like." Demyx looked around the room as he gently set his Sitar and its replacement strings down on an ornate chair before resting his gaze upon the shorter man once again.
"Why?"
"Because, I like to spoil those I like."
Demyx's eyes widened and he stared at Zexion for a moment. That was when something caught his eye. There was a fashionable scarf around the man's neck, almost hiding in his clothing. It was as beautiful as its owner—a royal purplish blue with red, orange and white woven in here and there in circular patterns. He gently touched it, feeling the silky, smooth fabric with his fingers.
"This." Zexion smiled. Demyx was very humble.
"A very good choice," he replied, slipping it off of his neck. "It's my favorite. Wear it often for me." Demyx nodded, promising, but before he could take it, Zexion was reaching for him, pulling him close before kissing him. Aquamarine eyes slipped shut as small but strong hands took hold of him, resting at his hips before gently leading him back.
Demyx gasped as he tripped backward, onto the bed. Then smiling, he stopped kissing Zexion, to enjoy the moment. He earned a curious, amused stare in response. "What are you so happy for?"
"I've never been on a bed before," Demyx murmured. Blue eyes widened a fraction. "Just pillows… It's nice." Sighing contentedly, the blond closed his eyes as clean linen cradled his body. Zexion allowed him a moment to relish in the luxury of the bed before speaking.
"Well then, you should make yourself more comfortable."
xXx
Zexion climbed further onto the bed and Demyx followed willingly. Then, as Zexion kissed him deeply, his slate hair gently tickling the musician's face, he relaxed, surrendering. His eyes slid shut and his wrists were grasped, held above his head as he was pressed into the mattress. He moaned equally submissively but gasped, eyes wide, when something soft and silky tightened around his wrists. Before he could move, he'd been secured to the headboard.
Zexion smiled. "I never expected someone so exotic to be so humble, Demyx." The blond blushed darkly, watching as delicate fingers slid up their owner's thighs before sliding back down, tugging at the knee high boots their owner wore. Staring into that pretty face, Demyx got lost. The thudding of the boot hitting the ground grounded him.
"I just… I try to make the most of my circumstances."
"I admire you for that." The blond flushed.
"Really?"
"Really." No one had admired him before for being himself. His eyes welled up and he smiled gently.
"Thank you." He sniffled. "It's been hard… for me, Axel and Naminé to have hope when the future's always been so bleak." Zexion's gaze gentled. "No one dares to hope for freedom anymore." Pale fingers ghosted across Demyx's tanned face.
"If I offered to let you stay, would you stay here with me and be free?" Tears slid down the blond's face.
"No, not if it's only me…" Gently, Zexion kissed the other man's forehead.
"No, Demyx, it won't only be you. And while I wish for you to stay, I shall free you either way from your leader's tyranny."
"What? How? Why?" Zexion chuckled a little.
"Slowly, you are stealing my heart." The blond blushed and their eyes locked. "You're making me want to keep you forever." The shorter man glanced away. "However, you have been caged for long enough. If you do not wish to be with me, I will not keep you from being free."
"Zexion… no one has ever cared for me so…"
xXx
Axel woke to the sound of footfall and roused the sleeping boy. Hastily they gathered their belongings and hid deeper in the wooded area.
"Axel, what?" The red-head pressed a finger to the blond's lips and they listened.
"Find the intruders. Gather them together, at the sandlot, and have the nooses ready but don't let word out. We want to catch them by surprise." The red-head's eyes widened in horror and he gripped Roxas protectively.
xXx
"Join us if you wish to live freely in peace. But, if you cause trouble, I will not hesitate to kill you." Xemnas scowled as he stood on the platform, a noose around his neck. "Let this man be an example of what's to come if you choose to be foolish," he continued gesturing to Xemnas. Immediately a lever was pulled and the floor below the sliver-haired man opened up. Roxas looked away from the horrible sight as Xemnas was asphyxiated by the rope.
xXx
"Dem, about Roxas-" Axel began. Demyx smiled gently before entwining his fingers with Zexion's. Axel stared.
"Don't worry about it, Axe," he said gently. "Besides, if you fall for two people you should always go for the second one." Red brows furrowed.
"Why is that?"
"Because, if you truly loved the first then you wouldn't have fallen for the second," Zexion interjected. Axel was surprised to see his lover smiling gently. He smiled back softly, supposing that they weren't lovers anymore.
"I hope we can still be good friends." Axel laughed at that.
"Dem, we'll always be best friends." Smiling, Axel glanced to his right. The smile grew as his eyes caught a familiar honey blond.
"Axel," Zexion's voice snapped his attention back to the pair before him. "I have a guest cottage, if you and Roxas would like to live there." His arms wrapped around Demyx and he rested his chin on the blond's shoulder. "I'd hate for Demyx to get lonely when I'm busy." Axel smiled slowly.
"Neither would I." His smile turned to a smirk as the blond blushed. "I'll see you later then," he murmured before sauntering toward his own blond, happy that Demyx had taken it so well.
"Wait Axe!" The red-head turned back and just as he did, Demyx tossed something to him. Axel caught it, smiling fondly at the key in his hand. At last, they had a place to call home. It was something that he Naminé and Demyx had never had and he felt pride rushing through him and making his heart flutter. He smiled at Zexion approvingly.
"Take good care of my best friend." Zexion smirked and Axel was taken aback. He'd never pictured an emotion like that on the man's face before and the slate haired man looked quite devious as he nodded.
"Better than you can imagine, I'm sure."
xXx
Roxas searched the crowd before him, trying to find that shock of red he was dying to see. It should have been easy enough to find amongst the sea of people. None of which had red hair. He gasped audibly when hands grasped his hips, his head craning back and his eyes meeting with emerald green. "Axel!"
"Did you miss me?" The red-head purred. Roxas nodded and Axel smiled, satisfied.
"Come, I have something to tell you privately."
"O-okay." A large hand grasped Roxas' small wrist and led him to the hole in the city wall. The blond smiled when Axel led him through it and they entered the wooded area. He gasped when he was pressed against it. Axel leant close, smiling and looking elated.
"I'm yours."
"Mine?" Roxas asked, confused. Slowly, the red-head nodded.
"Just yours." Roxas swallowed as Axel's voice lowered. "If you'll have me." The boy blushed.
"What about Dem?" Axel shook his head, halting Roxas' thoughts and words. Their eyes met and they stared at one another, levelly.
"I only want you." Roxas' heart stopped for a moment. "Demyx understands." With shaking hands, the blond grasped either side of the red-head's face. Axel smiled gently at Roxas' amazed look.
"Of course I'll have you," he whispered back, blushing. The red-head smiled approvingly and Roxas' heart pounded. Then, their lips pressed together, each of them closing the space between them at the same time, in the same moment, each kissing the other passionately.
When they pulled apart, Axel smiled furtively. "I have a surprise for you." Roxas' eyes questioned the red-head and Axel grasped his hands. "Let's go." Laughing gently, the blond let himself be drug along. They slowed when they got to Zexion's mansion. Confusion rose into cerulean eyes once more as Axel led him to what appeared to be a small cottage, off to the side yet within the gates.
"Axel… what?" He asked as the red-head led him to the door. His eyes widened when Axel took a key out of his pocket and slipped it into the lock before unlocking and then unlatching it.
"This… is for us." Pretty blue eyes widened as they stepped inside the small, furnished, home. The floors were wooden and polished, there were three evenly spaced windows, flanking either side of the home and two framing the door, to his left was a sitting area with two chairs and a loveseat and behind that a kitchen. He assumed that the washroom was behind that, seeing a small window through the open door. Above the hidden-away-room was a spacious loft that extended over the kitchen with a large window behind the bed, accessible by a ladder, and to his right was a wood burning stove. There was a large chandelier hanging in the middle of it all, many candles placed within it. Even if there hadn't been a rope to lower it with, Axel would have been tall enough to light most of the candles. "Zexion gave this to us." Roxas gasped. "If you'd like, we can unload our stuff from the wagon and make it ours." Ours…
Ocean blue locked with emerald green. He smiled gently. "I'd like that very much.
xXx
Demyx looked after is bestfriend, watching Axel and Roxas disappear. Aquamarine met Zexion's eyes one more time, smiling fondly.
"Can I have one more thing?"
"Anything."
"You. For always." Zexion's lips twitched upward into a smile.
"Of course."

-The End-
Past A/n: It's actually a bit funny to me, seeing how my work and writing's progressed as this story has (I can hardly believe I've been on here for four years. That isn't when I started writing, however,) xD; and although the first five chapter are horrendous, if you've made it this far I commend you, I plan to leave them that way. Hopefully it'll show others how practice and friendly critique can help to improve a person's skills.
Ahh but I digress. Do you love this story? Hate it? I'd love it if you took a moment to let me know, in a kind manner, of course~
Much love, dear fans,
Azurela
Present A/n: My goodness, my heart is smiling as I read this. I wanted to include what I'd written for my original ending (circa 2012 omg) and I sincerely hope you enjoyed it as much as I did (:
I finished my rewrite in 2016
