"You must be very proud of yourself."

"Now, why is that?"

"Because your little prodigy just killed one of our best trainers. "

"Then your precious trainers must be getting lazy if the student can beat the master."

"Don't get smart with me. The whole board can see how his attachment to that girl is making him dangerous."

"Exactly. Do not make the mistake of thinking I do not have a reason for all of my actions. After all, what is stronger than a wolf protecting its mate?"

"Just make sure the super assassin you are creating does not turn to bite the hand that feeds it."

"Oh no. The consequences are to dire for that, even for him. Especially for him. Besides, my masterpiece is almost complete."

...

This time, Lisa waited for him.

She had figured out the door had been hidden in the kitchen somewhere. However, her trainers always found a way to distract her before they exited, so she didn't know the exact location. Yet.

Now she was sitting calmly in the kitchen chair, a bowl of cereal in front of her. The small flakes of bran had gotten soggy long ago. Lisa couldn't bring herself to eat them. She knew something was wrong. It had been two days since any of her trainers-or Jackson-had come. Did it mean she was done? Of course not. SHe couldn't even beat her easiest trainer. Did it mean they were done playing with her? Maybe. But was that good? She couldn't tell. Her will to survive and fight was as strong as ever. She hadn't gone through all of that just to be sniped out for lack of being entertaining.

Then, a small rebellous voice in her head whispered, "What about Jackson?"

She wanted to shut down the idea imediatly, but couldn't. The thought of him embedded itself in her mind and refused to be shaken. He had been so shaken when she had last seen him. And then the look in his eyes when he saw her cut.

"What if something happened to him?" That annoying voice whispered again.

"Good." She answered it outloud.

"Not good."

"Only because I couldn't kill him myself."

"True." The voice conceded. "You also wouldn't be able to do the other things you've wanted to do to him the past few nights."

Too far! Lisa shut down her inner narrative. Besides, they were half and half anyway. Half killing him slowly, feeling his fear and getting her revenge. The other half... she refused to acknowlege.

Suddenly, there was a small click, and the refridgerator swung away from the wall.

"Ah ha," She muttered to herself before she saw who stepped through the quickly closing door.

Jackson.

Unwillingly, Lisa's body began to hum. Not the audible hum that washers and quiet cars make, but the hum that was silent and ran deep into the bones. SHe had to force herself to stay in her seat as he caught sight of her.

Something had definatly changed about him. Gone was the skin-deep cover of sarcasm and confidence. Lisa meet his ice gaze and felt the difference in him. Those eyes held the power and certainty of a killer. The quietness of him, standing in the kitchen watching her, crossed the room like waves and nearly drug Lisa out of her seat.

It almost scared her. How attracted she was to him at this moment. Every muscle in her body was taut, trying to keep her immoble and emotionless.

"Goodmorning Leese. Miss me?" He smirked at her, the corner of his mouth pulling up in the familiar gesture. She wanted to slap him.

"What do you want?" She didn't have to force the hostility in her voice.

"Mmmm..." His eyes slowly traveled her face, resting on her neck. She wanted to bite him. "That is a very dangerous question Leese."

She waited. She didn't trust herself anymore.

He met her eyes again, reading her expression. "I am here to decide whether you can work in the field. Or not."

Lisa's heart leapt. She would do anything to get out of these four walls.

Jackson was wondering into the living room. "But remember Leese," he called over his shoulder. "You earn everything here. By good behavior..." He paused. Scanning her body possesively. "Or otherwise."

Lisa's breath stopped, and she was reminded of her thoughts just seconds before.

She would do anything...
