I'm not even going to give an excuse this time. This is a big chapter. Forgive me. :/

Go watch TheGreatElisaMousy's season 2 of Digimon Academy! Things are pumping up!
Throughout the Digital World, Digimon were in fear for their lives. The sky had cracked, and the airs of the Human and Digital world met. Most Digimon were hiding in their homes, inable to even think of investigating. They were in too much fear of the strife that occupied their past few weeks.
The Insect Empire and the Chessmon Army had clashed wherever there was land to take. It should not take mention to note the minor armies that had also put a stake in the war. Any Digimon who had ever wished for glory and power had put their lives at risk to win the war that had overcome the Digiworld. No being was safe from its wrath, and unlike most Digimon, KingChessmon did not fear the cracks in the sky. To him, they were a chance. A chance he would take in earnest.
He turned to his current top "Recruit." Leopardmon had been hired to assist in the victory of this war, and he had proven himself valuable. KingChessmon knew he would prove valuable again. He spoke to his warrior with glee, excited to see what fruit he would win in this situation.
"Take a battalion of BladeKuwagamon! Conquer what is beyond the cracks in the sky!"
With a bow, Leopardmon turned to ready his departure. He would follow his leader's orders. The Human World would become property of the Metal Kingdom, and be ruled by KingChessmon.
But KingChessmon was not the only ruler attempting to take the Human World. His rival, TyrantKabuterimon, had already sent his armies through the cracks. He saw all his soldiers saw, and so it took him far less time to send an entire swarm through the crack. What they encountered, though, was not welcoming.
On the other side of the cracks, the Digital Academies where in high alert. All of the Headmasters where away, and 4 of the largest cities on Earth had been occupied by one of four of the Digimon Soveriegns. This was a crisis far bigger than the attack on the Academies less than 3 months before.
Michael, on the other hand, was excited. He would finally go to battle with what he thought was his destiny, and he couldn't be more ecstatic. His thoughts came to the point that maybe, maybe, he would be able to go on this prophesized adventure with Cassidy and Carlos before his "curse" ruined his life yet again.
[Brazilian Digital Academy: Headmaster's Office]
The Director of the Digimon Academies was fraught with headache. What was meant to be a stress-relieving vacation-like meeting had turned into a crisis bigger than any he had seen before. A Digimon, for whatever reason, had invaded the Human World, in 4 of the largest cities. And here he was. Being forced to consult and calm the United Nations Council while his Headmasters and partner sought to find out who was behind all this. Why were they the lucky ones. Did he not have a secretary for this?!
That was when he remembered he did have a secretary for this. Sadly, she was back in Japan. Likely facing the Digimon Sovereign who had invaded Tokyo. His thoughts weren't helping him. He only grew more worried. And he definitely did not need that as the council was continuing to yell at him. His mind turned to one thought.
Next time this happens, one of the other 15 Headmasters is taking care of the United Nation Council.
[Amazon Jungle. Somewhere near the Brazilian Digimon Academy.]
The Tamers and Digimon both were already tired and exhausted before they even arrived at the battlefield. They had been forced to walk through the Amazon Jungle in the middle of the night, with none of the usual attire or gear. All they had were the light from the Digimon's various sources, the Digivices , their cards, and they're normal uniforms. While Brazil's uniforms were made for this kind of thing, the other 15 academies all had ripped and torn clothing. There was a sigh of relief when they came to the large clearing.
The clearing was around a mile in diameter, with a large temple in the middle. The crack was directly overhead, and the positioning placed the moon directly behind it. Various large puddles and rocks dotted the area, making it look like a very man-made. Or in this case, Digimon-made.
The Headmaster of the English branch, along with her partner, MarineAngemon, stepped forward and yelled out towards the center of the clearing.
"Whoever is causing the cracks in the sky! Make yourself known so that we can stop you!"
A clown's laughter responded to her demand. 3 Shadows appeared to the Headmasters. 2, appeared on the temple, and 1 larger one towered behind it. The first was that of a tall, slender man. The second was much shorter, and seemed to carry an X on its back. The colossal shadow was that of a serpent, and seemed to be originating in one of the pools of water. A voice called out to the group of tamers.
"I do hope you came here knowing it was a trap. Otherwise this will seem like a shock! Clown Trick! Mask Square!"
2 things happened. The first, a large circus tent covered the clearing. It seemed to float there, the sides touching the ground, and when Michael tried to push through it, it stood firm. SlayerDramon, along with several of his counterparts made attempts to get through, but to no avail. The second is that the floor of the clearing turned black, with what seemed like a large clown face in the middle. The voice once again spoke.
"My demands are simple. Surrender all Digi-eggs that the Academies own to me, including the other 5 Demon Lords, or the 4 cities occupied by Sovereigns will be destroyed."
Lucemon stepped forward wearily. He spoke out towards the voice with confusion in his voice.
"I know that voice..its familiar.. I think I remember... Your Piedmon, one of Apoclymons servants! "
Beelzemon chirped up to Lucemon's comment.
"Ya..I remember. He called them his 'Dark Masters'. They were his like..his bodyguards or something?"
Lucemon turned to look at him, and talked much more casually.
"No. They were his experiments if I remember. They all had some quirk about them or something. He was supposedly making them so we became more powerful. I wouldn't be surprised if they were a failed part of his coup, though."
Beelzemon laughed.
"Ha ha. Ya. I can see Apocalymon making these guys now. Speaking of, those sovereigns probably aren't even real! They're probably more of Piedmon's illusions."
The voice called out to them, with obvious anger in it's voice.
"Would you like to test this!?" The shadow turned to the roof of the tent. "Baihumon! Show them but a taste of your power!" Piedmon snapped his fingers, and a large black box appeared in the sky. It flicked, and acting like a tv screen, gave a perfect view of Baihumon, in the middle of New York City.
The large Sovereign turned to face a street leading away from it. It fired a beam from its mouth. Anything in which it touched turned into metal. The stone of the buildings gave way to the weight of the new metal expansions, crumbling the street's buildings for at least several blocks. The sovereign was not fake.
With horror on their faces, the assembled headmasters looked on as Piedmon's grin grew even wider. He laughed manically, and spoke,
"Well?! Do you surrender yet?!"
He continued laughing, not noticing Nicholas stepping out of the crowd. He spoke with pride and a grin.
"Ya know, Piedmon, the country I come from has a policy. No matter what happens, no matter who is taken prisoner, we never surrender."
He held up his digivice, and picked out a familiar card.
"Digital Infusion! Brakedramon: Connect!"
A white glow burst from Slayerdramon, as he evolved into Examon. The dragon took flight, flying directly towards the 3 Dark Masters. As he neared them, Piedmon held up his fingers, and with a defining crack, snapped them. He spoke.
"Trump Sword."
A gale of wind circled around the Dark Master, blowing the red dragon away from the Aztec pyramid they stood on. What Piedmon did not notice, though, was the source of the shout from above.
"Dramon Breaker!"
From above, VictoryGreymon, partner to the Irish Headmaster, crashed down, forcing the Dark Masters to leave their perch while simultaneously demolishing the ancient temple. With a flash though, Piedmon was again redirected, this time by Regulumon, the Brazilian partner.
"Beast-King Wave!"
Piedmon was sent flying across the battlefield, as the Mega digimon landed from their speedy maneuver. With a graceful twirl, though, the Dark Master landed, nearly uninjured. He cackled, and spoke to them with a belittling tone.
"My, my, how rude! And here I was on a diplomatic mission! For peace! Ah, no matter."
He held up his hand, and snapped his fingers yet again. A large line of light appeared behind him, opening forward like a large door. A digi-gate had been summoned. 3 figures, small, walked out of the gate. It was only until they were beside the Dark Masters did the truth come to reveal itself.
The 3 figures were human children.
All 3 wore clothes one would expect to find in Victorian England. What was more frightening, was the fact that all 3 held a Digivice. Piedmon spoke again.
"Oh..thats right. You haven't really thought about it. There should be 6 Digidestined on your side, yet only 3 ever showed up."
He beckoned to the children.
"Well here they are. Ready for class, teacher! Now then, children! Pop quiz! How to defeat the Digital Academies! Show them what you've learned in your time under the Dark Armies' tutelage!"
All 3 children held up cards, and swiped them into the pitch-black D-Agents. With a glowing light, the 3 dark masters lit up with the light of digivolution.
"PiedmonX!"
"Puppetmon digivolve to AncientTroiamon!"
"MegaSeadramon digivolve to GigaSeadramon!"
Dynasmon stepped forward, and began to speak.
"X Evolution, Digivolution via ancient data, and Digivolving past Mega. Apoclymon has been busy."
Lucemon, bewildered at both discoveries, spoke with fear in his voice.
"To think...Apoclymon had been researching things such as this behind our backs for years. How did he manage to do this without us noticing?!"
Beelzemon smirked, and looked to his partner. He spoke with what seemed like excitement.
"I don't know how, and I don't care. All I know is that tearing these three morons down will be fun."
Chiharu lifted up her digivice, and swiped a card.
"Digital Enhancement! X-Antibody: Connect!"
Her fellow digidestined followed suit, and behind them, the Headmasters started to swipe various cards as well to help their partners in this fight. Cassidy was the next in line. She spoke with anger in her voice.
"Capturing innocent human kids like that and forcing them to be your puppets. You'll pay for this."
She picked out 2 cards, and swiped them both.
"Digital Enhancement: Digivolution and Digital Enhancement: Burst Mode!"
Tentomon grew into his massive Burst Mega form, and prepared itself for the upcoming charge. The Academies were ready for the Dark Masters attack now. That is until a light grew from their backline.
"Mekanorimon digivolve to!"
The digivolving monster started to increase in size rapidly, and with a quick grab from Examon, Carlos, Michael, and Chrysalimon were moved out of the way. The digivolution finished, revealing a massive metal machine.
"MachineDramon!"
Even the enemy Dark Masters were bewildered by the sudden turn of events. PiedmonX smiled, and yelled out to the new digimon.
"So Lord Apoclymon did finish you! We were worried that he didn't have time, but he di-"
He was interrupted by the newly evolved Digimon.
"I don't know what you're talking about, but I am most assuredly not on your side!"
PiedmonX stopped in his tracks, and with an acknowledging expression, continued to speak.
"So that's it. The Digivolution caused your imprintment to wipe. No matter, we'll help you! MachineDramon, come fulfill your destiny as the 4th member of the Dark Masters!"
MachineDramon began to move, but after only a couple of steps, stopped in his tracks. The large cannons on his back pointed towards the 3 Dark Masters, and began to charge. The behemoth machine spoke.
"I already told you what side I'm on. I don't care who made me. Michael chose my egg and hatched me, though. To me, that's what matters! Giga Cannon!"
The mouth of the cannons spewed a bright light, but before the light could be launched forth, four black swords struck themselves through the chassis of MachineDramon. PiedmonX's horrid laughter could be heard throughout the enclosed clearing.
"Fine then. If you'll only obey the one to hatch you, I'll just have to hatch you again! Prepare to be reverted, MachineDramon!"
Light spewed forth from the body, as a small Hagurumon fell from the large being. Michael rushed to where the small gear would land, and just barely caught the surprisingly lightweight digimon. PiedmonX's laughter turned into a grunt of annoyance.
"So, you're not going to turn into an egg in one shot, eh? Fine then! Trump-"
Before he could continue, a louder, and much angrier voice eminated from a white digimon that was rushing towards PiedmonX's location.
"Dragon Breath!"
The being of Dynasmon created an aura in the shape of a dragon around it. It continued to speed towards PiedmonX. Before the Dark Master could react, it collided with him. When the smoke cleared, both PiedmonX and Dynasmon were in a tug-of-war. PiedmonX was defending against the full force of Dynasmon's Dragon Breath, with neither able to move an inch away, or face defeat. PiedmonX turned to his allies, and screamed in annoyance.
"What are you two waiting for?! Finish the Digidestined while I have Dynasmon held up!"
AncientTroiamon turned to the Headmasters and Digidestined. His large wooden body, in the shape of the Trojan Horse, had cannons sticking out of nearly every opening in its body, all of which were now pointed at the group.
"Epeius Gimmick!"
The cannons all fired simultaneously, bombarding the group as they were forced to separate. GigaSeadramon, who had been sitting in one of the many pools, dove out of his own and into another nearby.
Carlos and Chrysalimon had sprinted away from most of the others, only to encounter Gigaseadramon rising out of one of the nearby pools. In a single thrust, he grabbed Chrysalimon from Carlos's side, and dived back down into his pool.
Cassidy had been in full motion. She and SkullScorpiomon were rushing to AncientTroiamon, with Cassidy on the large scorpions back. As they neared him, the colossal Digimon, who's height was nearing the roof of the tent-like trap, turned to them and spoke.
"Well well, what do we have here? Surprise Cannon!"
The barrels emerging from AncientTriaomon's mouth and chest began to glow, and fired nearly instantly. Without time to move, Cassidy and her partner prepared for the worst. When the sound of the explosion cleared, though, Cassidy opened her eyes to see Examon in front of her, blocking the blast with his wings. Her father dismounted from the dragon's back, and turned to her. Smiling, he spoke.
"How about we take this guy on together?"
She nodded.
SkullScorpiomon prepared his claws, as Cassidy and the U.S Headmaster took out their digivices. They pulled out 2 cards each, and swiped simultaneously.
"Digital Enhancement: Speed! Digital Ability: MetalGarurumon's Metal Wolf Claw!"
"Digital Enhancement: Speed. Digital Ability: Megidramon's Meggido Flame!"
SkullScorpiomon's claws split into three as they extended. Examon moved apart his wings, and spewed out a fire darker than Cassidy had ever seen. AncientTraiomon was hit directly from the flames, but surprisingly, he simply shrugged them off. It was then that Cassidy noticed that one of the captured digidestined, who was as of then standing on AncientTraiomon's back, had a card in their hand along with a glowing digivice.
Cassidy turned to her father.
"The captured kid used a card! Thats why your flame isn't working!"
Wilson nodded. He figured that the captured Digidestined were here for more than just digivolving the Dark Masters. Apocalymon had made a smart move in capturing the tamers, as his minions now had taken away the sole advantage the Academies had over the evil digimon. Their Tamer Partners were now nullified by the opposing Tamers. Or so the Dark Masters thought.
With a grin, Wilson pulled out another card. He had never used this one before, solely because he didn't know how it would react with Examon. While normally, Examon would have 2 Digi-cores from a Digital Fusion, with an Infusion card, he only had his one from SlayerDramon. He had to take the risk though.
"Digital Ability: Goldramon's God Fist!"
Examon dropped his spear, as his fist began to glow a brilliant sheen of gold. MagnaDramon, the partner to the British Headmaster, saw this and began to fly towards AncientTriaomon. It began to yell at the large digimon, grabbing it's attention.
"Hey, wood-for-brains! Over here! Hermit Fog!"
It's spewed fog over the area, blocking the giant horse's sight. It tried to find the humans he had just been fighting, but before he could, Examon burst from the fog. With a direct hit, he punched AncientTriaomon. Without so much as a second difference, the digimon reverted to Puppetmon. As he was falling, Puppetmon grabbed the child that was obviously linked to him, protecting him from the fall. He immediately fled backwards, behind PiedmonX, and turned to him to speak.
"We're losing this battle. We gotta get out of here! We already opened the cracks, there's no need for us to be here, the humans are already doomed!"
Before PiedmonX could respond, however, the ground below the area quaked, as a sinkhole appeared where the temple used to stand. Data flowed upwards from the sinkhole, as an egg flew into the hands of one of the darkened digidestined. The pitch black Digivice the tamer had been using shattered into pieces. It was unclear how it happened, but the result was obvious. GigaSeadramon had been reverted to his egg form.
[2 Minutes ago, in an underground cavern below the battlefield]
GigaSeadramon spat Chrysalimon out, and spoke in triumph.
"It looks like one of the Digidestined's partners is doomed! Poor you."
Chrysalimon adjusted itself and began to float. It spoke in a calm manner, with an hint of power in his voice.
"You dare touch me, pawn?"
GigaSeadramon cocked it's head, and spoke again.
"What da ya mean by pawn?"
Chrysalimon began to glow white, as it's form changed shape to it's mega form, Diaboromon. It spoke, with a hint of anger, this time.
"I will explain this very simply. In our master's plan, you are nothing more than a pawn in his game. And for that, for your treachery in even saying you will attack the master's key, you will die."
GigaSeadramon started laughing. He spoke through his laughter, in obvious disbelief.
"You think that just cuz you can Digivolve to Mega, I'll believe you when you say you're one of Master's servants? Ya right!"
Diaboromon looked at him, with a smile. This was the first time it had to digivolve into this form, but it would make the moment last. It would make this beast suffer. The spy would enjoy this.
He spoke in excitement.
"It doesn't matter if you believe me. You are going to die in a few seconds anyway! Web Wrecker!"
It fired a beam from it's chest directly at the ceiling of the cavern. The cave began to collapse. Just before GigaSeadramon lost consciousness, he saw Diaboromon laughing, as he reverted to Chrysalimon. He thought for a moment. Although he was dying, he was glad. His master had successfully implanted a spy into the Academies. A spy that easily defeated a Giga-Level Digimon. As he died, he knew that the chances for success were ever rising.
As the destruction settled, Chrysalimon squirmed from under a rock, and floated up towards Carlos. Carlos, in disbelief that his partner survived, started to ask questions. He was stopped as his partner explained.
"The big beast was too big for his cave, so when I started dodging his movements, he kept smacking into the roof. I guess he just moved around a bit too much!"
Carlos hugged his partner. He was so glad his partner had survived.
PiedmonX pushed Dynasmon's wyvern off of him, and immediately moved backwards. The Dark Masters had lost this fight. With a single snap of his fingers, the Digi-gate opened behind him, and he called out to the humans.
"Expect this to be your only gate into the Digital World for some time. I invite you to join us, if you dare."
With that, both digimon and the remaining captured digidestined walked through the gate. The image of the Digital World on the other side changed, ensuring they could not be directly followed. Above, on the screens that displayed the sovereigns, all four began to being attacking the cities.
Wilson looked around, and after a few seconds of thought, turned to Dynasmon, who was on his knees, exhausted from his assault on PiedmonX. Dynasmon spoke slowly, but made sure he was heard.
"Michael, Cassidy, Carlos. Take the freed Digidestined and enter the gate."
Wilson turned to him in shock, and spoke hurredly.
"What?! They aren't near ready! We just freed the fourth digidestined, and-"
He turned to see the young Digidestined's gender. As he did, the egg that was GigaSeadramon hatched into a small white ghost. A Poyomon.
"And her partner is still a fresh!"
The tent, which had been enclosing the fight, dissipated, along with the clown card floor. Above them, a helicopter hovered for a moment, then lowered to the ground. The Director of the Academies stepped out, and rushed to Dynasmon's side. He saw the young girl, still weery, along with the Poyomon. He had suspected something like this may be in play, and threw a D-Agent towards Cassidy. Dynasmon continued to speak, as his dear friend helped him stand.
"That is beyond the point. Look at the screens."
The Headmasters turned to the screens once more, and saw on two of them, the Northern and Southern screens, what seemed to be swarms of Digimon. Dynasmon continued.
"Those aren't simply followers. Those are armies. The Digital World is in war. If we wait any longer, the backup of data waiting to be turned into an egg at Primary Village will be so large it will be impossible to enter. We either send the children now, or the Dark Masters have their way with the Digital world. We barely handled them today, even with how lucky we had gotten. Think of a day after the war, when they have all of those digimon following them out through one of those large gates."
Wilson, horrified at the thought, turned to his daughter. He spoke solemnly, and in fear.
"Can the old Digidestined go with them?"
The Director and Headmaster of the Japanese Branch spoke this time.
"Those are Digital Sovereigns. I've already been told that the branches there have failed to even damage them. Chiharu and her team are needed here. It is the destiny of the new Digidestined to go through that gate."
A voice, in obvious anger, spoke up.
"I agree."
The crowd turned to let Michael, carrying a severely damaged Hagurumon, through to the center.
"I want revenge for what they did to Hagurumon. I don't care whether or not I'm ordered to go through that gate. I'm going through."
He kept walking straight for the gate, before a voice called to him to stop. It was Chiharu.
"If you are going to Digital World, you may need these."
She took off her goggles. She had worn these for a while, but it felt right to her to pass them on for a time. She tossed them to Michael, who caught them with one hand. Chiharu spoke again.
"I'll be expecting those back when you return victorious."
Michael nodded. Cassidy and Carlos joined him by his side, with Carlos giving the freed Digidestined a piggyback ride. They began to walk into the gate, while Mr. Wilson said one last thing.
"Come back winners."
That took a while to write. Anyways, some explanations. The battlefield that Piedmon used was likely created by them as a sort of trap. That much was obvious. I tried to impart a feeling of power, even though the Dark Masters numbered in 3. A lot of stuff will be explained next chapter. If you have any questions, ask them in the reviews, and I'd be happy to explain!
Speaking of reviews... time for a big announcement! Elisa and I will be doing a dual interview about both stories! If you have any questions for the both of us, ask in the reviews of either War of the Digital World or Digimon Academy Season 2. We'll be answering them all in an upcoming chapter for Academy Season 2! The questions can be pretty much anything!
Next chapter will come a lot shorter, mostly because there wasn't 10 chapters of hype leading up to it.
Have a nice day, and a good new year! (can't say merry Christmas...sorta missed that deadline.)
