A Word from the Author: Hello everyone, it's jediclonecowgirl, with a new chapter of "Legacy of Windy II". The story just won't let me go…haha! Well…let's just get on with it.
Lily liked Potions class, unlike the boys sometimes. This year she sat with Kingsley Shacklebolt, a dark skinned Hufflepuff boy, who had the strange ability not to be controlled by his emotions. No surprise there. He seemed to have none. He was always so calm. They were working together at a potion. They never talked much and that sat right with Lily. She respected Shacklebolt, but this boy was too much of a mystery for her to understand. Shacklebolt already had some kind of grown-up voice, even though he was not older, then Lily. It was a bit too deep. Okay…that was an understatement. Everytime she talked to Kingsley, she felt, like she was talking to a seventh year…or someone older. It was not only about his voice, it was also about his choice of words. It was too mature. He had to be a Hufflepuff for a reason, but she had no idea what reason that might've been, since he had the reputation of a sociopath in his house. He only had one friend…Elliot Abott, a scrawny boy, with messy and short blond hair…and sometimes not even he could figure Kingsley out. The bell rang and the second years poured outta the dungeons. Lily said goodbye to Kingsley politely and then quickly joined James and the others.
"I think the Sorting Hat messed it up, with him winding up ín Hufflepuff.", James said, since he had heared of Kingsley's reputation himself.
"Well…he must've winded up there for a reason. Don't know which, but there has to be some reason.", Lily whispered.
"We could just search, where they keep the hat through the year and ask it.", Sirius suggested.
Lily didn't know, if Sirius really meant that, or if he was just pulling out sarcasm again, but Lily didn't get a chance to awnser Sirius, because Remus spoke up.
"Yeah, of course it will talk to us about the sorting of another student and the next thing we know, we are all gonna be playing Quidditch with the Tornados. In your dreams guys.", Remus sighed.
Sirius pretended to cough, but to Lily it sounded suspiciously, like he was saying "cockblock" under his breath.
"Subject change guys: Which prank for Halloween?", James asked then.
"I thought about something different from last year. Something, that we can prepare, when no one else is around, so we don't get ourselves caught again.", Lily replied.
The painful memory of the failure with the Babbling beverage crept back into Lily's head again. Last year they had gotten the idea of slipping Sirius's cousins and their lovers this potion, since they had wanted revenge for all the times, they had been cursed and beaten up by them, but someone, and Lily did not want to recall who, had ratted them out, so they needed a better plan for a prank this time.
"Lily…how did your system for the vomit prank last year work again?", James asked then.
"It was a simple combination from levitation and an invisibility charm. Why?", Lily asked back.
"The house colour of Slytherin is green. This needs a little improvement, if you ask me.", James said, with a smirk on his face.
"Later at tower James. Not down here.", Remus hissed.
This evening they were sitting in the boys dorm and had everything planned out. Lily would steal some buckets from Filch. They would fill them with water at the Great Hall and then tranfigure the water into green and sliver glitter. Then they would levitate them over the Slytherin table and hit them with an invisibility charm. They would straightly let them loose at the feast and this time nobody could rat them out, if they put their wands away again quick enough, because, if Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw didn't get glitter dumped over their heads, it could be anyone and as long as no one innocent winded up in detention everything would be good.
"Okay…the night, before Halloween day we get everything ready and then we set the buckets off at the Halloween feast.", James said then.
Lily and the other boys all nodded and grinned mischievously. Lily could even see a tiny smile on Remus's face. The smile she had missed so much. Apperantly things were back to normal with Remus again. Lily grinned. Tomorrow would be her first Quidditch match. Gryffindor against Slytherin. Brick Jordan had forced them to train hard. Frank, Alice and Mary kept on saying, that they hadn't been completely dry, since tryouts. He had forced them to train in wind and weather. The next day was so foggy and break-of-dawn-grey, that it was still dark in the dormitory of the Gryffindor second year girls.
"Fog…", Lily whispered, as she pushed the window open.
"Proper weather for a game of Quidditch.", Lily mumbled.
Still…when there was too much fog, she would probably fly on the spot, where Rabastan Lestrange, the keeper of the Slytherins was supposed to be. The thought almost scared her. She levitated her heart shaped pocket mirror in front of her face, what took her a few tries, and began to do her hair. She tied it in two braids and then got dressed into her Quidditch uniform. A jumper in house colours, light brown pants and dark brown boots. She then stuffed her pads and red robes into a bag, until she came to something her parents had sent her for Quidditch. Usually you would use it for playing hockey, but apparently Lily's parents had sent it in their letter to Lily, so the Chasers of their opponents wouldn't knock her teeth out with the Quaffle. Lily didn't know, if she wanted to tell her parents, that teeth knocked out by a Quaffle could easily be grown back. In the magical world you could even grow back entire body parts, as long as you hadn't lost them, because of a curse. She tossed the plastic teeth pad in her trunk and then picked up her bag and broomstick and left the room. At Common Room she noticed, that James and Sirius were awake too. Both dressed in their Quidditch uniforms, they were sitting by the fireplace and staring at their boots.
"Uhh…morning?", Lily mumbled.
"Wotcher Lils.", James mumbled.
Sirius didn't say anything, but the sound, that came from him sounded, like he was gagging on his own puke. He gave a weak wave into Lily's direction.
"Nervous?", Lily asked, as she sat down next to Sirius, her bag and broomstick on her lap.
"Just a little bit.", Sirius murmured.
"Says the guy, who almost vomited on Remus blanket, as we got ready.", James said.
"James…you promised, you wouldn't mention that in front of Lily.", Sirius almost yelled and Lily could see, that he was blushing.
"I didn't promise anything.", James said bluntly.
"Okay guys, this shouldn't end in a row.", Lily said, so the boys wouldn't start duelling.
"What time is it anyway?", James asked, since they were the only ones at Common Room.
Sirius shrugged his shoulders and Lily was instantly wishing, that she had brought her pocket watch. It was probably not even time for breakfast…not that Sirius looked, like he was able to eat anything. His face still looked a little green.
"Are Remus and Peter awake yet?", Lily asked to change the subject.
"No, the morons are still sleeping.", Sirius replied.
Lily was aware now, that Sirius was only joking. He didn't really mean it, when he called Remus and Peter morons, even though it could sometimes be true, with Peter, but Lily wouldn't speak it put loud. She had known it ever since last year, when she had gotten to know Sirius. She had only punched him on the arm back then, because she wanted to take part in that joke and it had been the same way with James. Soon the other Gryffindors woke up and they all went to the Great Hall for breakfast. James, Sirius and Lily were sitting with the rest of the team. They had already put on Quidditch uniforms. Brick Jordan had been so kind to allow Remus and Peter to sit with them too…not like it was forbidden after all. Sirius still looked a little sick and the fact, that Brick was filling up the plates of his team like crazy didn't make things any better. Lily watched Sirius force his breakfast down his throat and prayed, that Sirius wasn't going to vomit on the pitch.
"If you need to vomit on the pitch, then aim for the Slytherins.", James joked.
"You are not helping mate…", Lily growled at James.
"It's time.", Brick Jordan said to his team.
They all left for the pitch and Sirius looked like he was about to vomit on Frank Longbottom's boots.
"Calm down Sirius…it won't be that bad.", Lily whispered.
Brick Jordan leaded them to the Gryffindor changing rooms, where they put on the last of their Quidditch gear. Then they all sat down and waited for Jordan's pep talk. It was a tradition at Quidditch, that the Captain always gave a pep talk, before the game would really start. They all sat together and were really close to one another. Frank Longbottom, Alice Ginger, Mary MacDonald, James, Sirius and Lily herself.
"Okay…men…", Brick began.
"…and women!", Alice added, causing Lily to snicker.
"The big moment is there. We trained hard, our new ones are up to speed, when it comes to strategies…", Brick began and, as he said the last thing, his look was resting on Lily and Sirius.
"…and we are the best team, that Gryffindor had to offer, since…oh forget it, I have no idea, since when. What matters is, that we ARE! So get out there and give your all!", Brick ended it.
"Okay…it's time! Good luck ladies and gentlemen.", he said then, reaching for his broom and his beaters bat.
Lily reached for her broom and took a deep breath. This was it. Now was her first game. She marched outta the changing room, with James and Sirius. They were the last ones to come out. They were right under the Gryffindor stands now and they all mounted their brooms. The wooden door opened and the stadium was seen in front of them. The stands were filled completely and Lily could hear the voice of Marlene McKinnon, a fourth year girl, who was playing the stadium speaker.
"There are the Gryffindors, who are playing with new settings this year. Potter, Ginger, Longbottom, MacDonald, Evans, Black and Jordan.", Lily heared Marlene's voice.
The Gryffindors all flew in half of a circle. Then Lily saw Malfoy and the rest of the Slytherin team fly in. Nothing had changed in the Slytherin team. The same cheating chasers, the same dumb beaters, the same arrogant seeker and the same dumb and talent less keeper. Marlene announced them, but not without a bad comment in their direction, that earned her being yelled at by Professor McGonnagall. Lily found herself opposite Rabastan Lestrange. He tried to break her with his stare, but Lily knew how to keep on a blank face, when it came to this. Her brushes with Slytherins had taught her more, then the Professors…at least that was how James had put it. Then the moment was there. Madam Hooch tossed the Quaffle up in the air. The game was on! Lily tried to make out her own teammates through the fog and when she finally managed to get to the goalposts, she had to block the frist shot with a looping, because she hadn't managed to get her broom on the right side to block on time.
"Wonderful block from Evans. Serves the serpents right!", Marlene yelled.
"MCKINNON!", McGonnagall yelled.
Marlene obviously couldn't comment the game, without favouring the Gryffindors. Probably, because she was a Gryffindor herself. The other Gryffindors respected her for dragging the honor of the Slytherins through the dirt. When it came to Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, she always could comment, without favouring anyone, but as soon as Slytherin was involved she would favor the team, that was not Slytherin. It was a bit strange. Lily kicked the next shot, that came from Byron Flint, away swiftly and Marlene said, that people should watch her, if they want to improve their skills. At this moment, she heared someone swear in, what was probably Japanese, from the Hufflepuff stands. Apperantly Suzuki had taken Marlene's comment personal.
"Apperantly it's not punishment enough to get told off by McGonnagall of every Quidditch match.", she suddenly heared Sirius's voice and the next moment he was beating a bludger towards Malfoy, that was about to tear Lily's arm off.
"Thank you.", Lily said.
As she looked into his face, Lily could see, that the nervousness from the beginning was gone and there was not a bit of green to be found in his face. He was beating the bludgers towards the Slytherins swiftly and he also managed to knock one of them, Bole, off his broom. Lily hoped, that he needed to be taken to hospital wing, but he was already getting up and swearing.
"My gosh…", Lily growled and then she caught another Quaffle shot.
The game went well. Lily didn't let a single shot through. It was probably her lucky day, since she had been keeping a bit poorly at some practises. James was a few meteres over her, looking for the golden snitch. Lily instantly hoped, that he would see and catch it quicker, then Malfoy. It would make the game perfect and a perfect first game would probably be a good omen for their future at Quidditch. Lily kicked the next shot away from the Gryffindor goalposts and mentally cursed herself for letting this distract her. At this moment she felt someone speed past her and it was so quick, that she almost fell off her broom. She scrambled herself up again and got seated on her broom again.
"Potter has seen the snitch and he's chasing after it!", Marlene's voice was heared allover the pitch.
It took Malfoy a few seconds to realize, that James, the scrawny second year chaser, as some Slytherin girls had so nicely put it, had seen the snitch and was giving his all to secure a victory for Gryffindor. It was 90 to 0 and the only thing, that could secure a victory for Slytherin was Malfoy catching the snitch. Malfoy tried to bump James of his broom, but he made it a bit too obvious, that he had wanted to make James fall into the crowd of students and so Gryffindor got a penalty. In games against Slytherins, they almost always got penalties. The shot went right in and it was 100 to 0. Lily grinned.
"Come on James!", she yelled, as Malfoy tired to push him off his broom again.
This guy really should be forbidden to play Quidditch again for a lifetime. He was a threat to himself and everyone, who was on the pitch with him, but Lily was ripped outta those thoughts quickly by the voice of Marlene.
"He's got it! He's got it! He's got the snitch! James Potter wins Gryffindor an extra 150 points!", Marlene yelled.
The five Gryffindor players were speeding into James's direction and Alice was motioning for Lily to fly along with them. Lily and Sirius tossed their arms around their friend and the rest of the team followed suit soon. Lily's brain was in a whirl, because of the excitement and the adrenaline. She had no idea how she had even managed to land or get off her broom. As they all were on the ground again, the first thing Lily saw was Remus, who was running on the pitch and then hugged James. Lily was also hugged by many Gryffindors. One of them, Lily didn't even know his name, even took her on her shoulders. As he let her down again Lily was sure, that her face was conquering her hair.
Ending Word: Whew…it's been a while, since I did one of these long chapters…well…was on holiday with neither internet nor time to write properly, so it just comes now. Heh…I'd love, if you'd leave some reviews, before your next Quidditch game. Now all I have left to say is bye, bye and mischief managed.
