A/N: GUYS I'M SO SORRY I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU. I WANTED TO UPDATE THIS FOR SO LONG BUT I NEVER DID BECAUSE I NEVER HAD ANY MOTIVATION. NO ONE REVIEWED ON THE LAST CHAPTER? THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE LAST CHAPTER ASIDE FROM THIS EPILOGUE. DID I BORE YOU GUYS BE HONEST.
Sigh. Anyways here's the epilogue! I hope you like it. After this the story is officially completed. ;-;
I don't own anything in this whole entire story except the plot and stuffs. Also to anyone getting over an issue like being suicidal, or even anyone still going through it, this chapter (and the last one too) is to show that it does get better.
*3rd POV*
"Babe, are you almost ready?" Marshall Lee said, standing by the door of his small, one story house he shared with his fiancé, Fionna.
"Yup, I'm coming…!" As she exited the bathroom and walked down the hallway, Marshall took in her complete outfit. The two were on their way to their first high school reunion since they graduated. It had been five years, and in those five years, Fionna and Marshall moved in together. They rented an apartment near where they used to live. A year later, Marshall proposed, and they decided on waiting a while before marrying so they could find a house to live in together.
Almost a year later, after both of them had worked to be able to pay for it, they found their house. Since they had just spent a bit on their house, the two decided on having a long engagement, so they could earn more money for a better wedding.
After almost a year and a half of working and planning, Marshall and Fionna finally set their wedding date for the next summer.
Fionna was excited for the reunion, because she hadn't talked to her friends in a while. Sure, they talked for the first year or two after they graduated, but after a while, it became more difficult to find time. Her friends didn't even know her and Marshall were engaged.
As Fionna approached Marshall at the end of the hallway, he took in her outfit. She wore a simple party dress, with very little makeup and left her hair at her shoulders instead of tying it back, like she usually did. Marshall wore a button up shirt and semi-formal dress pants. Fionna wore her engagement ring proudly on her left hand. Marshall took her arms.
He glanced down at the visible areas on her arms, and Fionna noticed. "I checked them already. I even put a light layer of foundation over them. No one will notice," she said, trying to be assuring.
"I know," he said. "They look almost gone. I'm so proud of you…" Ever since Marshall stopped Fionna from swallowing the pills, she never brought another blade to herself. Her scars were faint, but still visible if you looked for them. Fionna knew they wouldn't fade any more, but Marshall secretly believed they faded a bit more each day.
"Thank you… I'm proud of myself, too…"
"Good. You should be!"
She smiled. "I love you,"
He pecked her lips. "I love you too. Now, I believe we have a party to attend?" He asked with a smile. He held out his arm, and Fionna linked hers with it.
Once Marshall parked his car in the building the reunion was at, he exited his side and opened the door for Fionna. Upon entering the hall that was rented out for the occasion, the couple was greeted by a woman handing out nametags.
"I wonder if Simone, Lincoln, and Bubba are planning on showing up…" Fionna thought out loud. After high school was over, she began calling her friends by their real names.
"They might be. You're not nervous about seeing them or anything, are you?" Marshall asked as they found a table to sit at.
"Not really, I'm just thinking if they ever thought about the possibility that you and I are still together, and engaged nonetheless."
"Well, the joke will be on them, then!" He said with a smile. She smiled back.
Just then, a very sophisticated woman walked through the door. Her nametag read 'Simone', and Fionna recognized her immediately. "Simone!" She waved her friend over to their table. Simone turned in the direction of the voice, and noticed Fionna and Marshall sitting together. A scowl crossed her face, but it disappeared when a fake smile took over.
She made her way over to the table, and sat down next to Fionna.
"Long time, no see, guys! How have you been?" Her voice was laced with a false tone, but since neither Fionna nor Marshall had talked to her in a while, they didn't notice.
"It's been great. Marshall and I are actually engaged…" Fionna said, slightly unprepared for her reaction.
"Really? How wonderful!" She looked down and checked her wristwatch. "Shoot. I have to get going. Since I'm not staying for the whole party, I'm meeting one of my other friends and then we're leaving to go out. Sorry I couldn't stay and catch up, but on the bright side I think Lincoln just walked in." And with that, Simone walked away with the same attitude she had spoken with.
"Well…" Fionna started to say.
"Oh hey look, Simone was right, there's Lincoln." Marshall pointed. Fionna turned around, and sure enough, her old friend Lincoln had just entered.
"Lincoln!" Fionna called over. She was excited to see him, even a bit more excited than she was with Simone.
"Oh my goodness, girl, it's been too long!" he said, walking over. "Hey, Marshall, how have you been?"
"I've been great, with Fionna with me." He answered honestly, making Fionna smile and blush.
"You guys are still together? That's adorable!"
"We're also engaged." Marshall stated.
"OH MY GOODNESS, REALLY?" He asked, with such enthusiasm that it put Fionna at ease.
"Yup!" This time, Fionna had spoken. She had grown more confident with her relationship, at least for now.
"That's literally so cute. Do Simone and Bubba know?"
"Simone does, and she just looked totally irritated and acted like a bitch. Bubba… we actually haven't seen him yet." Fionna said.
"Oh he's here! Want me to go get him?"
"Will you please? That'd be awesome."
"No problem!" Lincoln walked off to go find the last friend Fionna wanted to see.
In moments, a tall figure approached their table.
"Bubba! It's been too long!" Fionna immediately got up and hugged her long time best friend.
"I know! Hello to you too, Marshall!" Fionna and Bubba sat down with Marshall. They engaged in small talk for a bit, when Bubba noticed the ring on Fionna's finger.
"Hey, Fi… is that what I think it is?"
Fionna followed Bubba's gaze down to her left hand. She blushed a bit before responding. "Yeah, it is…" She smiled brightly. "Marshall and I are engaged."
"Awwww, I'm so happy for you guys, really. I'm sorry for all the bullshit the three of us put you through… It was solely based on the fact that we thought you two wouldn't last, and we thought we were just protecting you. But here you are, engaged, and proving us wrong. Or at least, me. I admit it, I was wrong. I'm truly happy for the both of you."
Fionna was speechless. "T-thank you, Bubba, I really didn't expect an apology, but it is most certainly accepted!"
"Oh good, I'm glad you accept it! It makes me feel a lot better, more than you'll ever know. I spent the past five and a half years thinking you hated me because of the trauma we'd put you through."
Fionna knew her three friends didn't know about the cutting and how she tried to kill herself, but she felt as if he knew already, even though that was impossible.
"I could never hate any of you." And it was true.
They spent the rest of the night reconnecting. Marshall even hung out with his friends from years ago as well. At the end of the night, before Fionna and Marshall left, Fionna found Bubba again.
"Before you leave, I just want to say thank you. Out of you, Lincoln, and Simone, you were the only one to say sorry. It meant a lot. I hope we get to see each other soon. Call me sometime. Good night, I guess I'll talk to you later." She said with a genuine smile before walking away.
"Fionna, wait," She turned around. "You're welcome."
Smiling brightly, Fionna got into her fiancée's car.
