Ok ladies and gents. With my deepest apologies on how long it has taken me to update. I seriously cannot apologize enough. It is just hard for me to write when I'm not alone and these days I get so little alone time and when I do, I'm too tired to do anything other than sleep. With those excuses aside, I have a treat for you guys. Well, I hope it is.

'Amanda,' I thought. Her chimp was named Koba. There was no way that it could have been the same one. The odds were almost impossible... Weren't they?

I had to contact her as soon as possible.

Will made a trip to the bank the withdrew all of the money he could before bringing us to the sanctuary to bride the owner to get Caesar back.

The envelope slapped against the table I assumed because it caused a small gust of wind to blow some papers aside.

.. .. ..

The change in Caesar was apparent. That change seemed to happen over night because the next time we went to see him, he didn't come to greet us at the window like he always did. He didn't run to greet us at all. His back was to us.

Will thought he was just throwing a minor tantrum, but I could see he was different I could also see that all the other apes were looking at him.

Will spoke to Caesar trying to get him to come out of the cage, but he wasn't moving. The only time he did move was when he walked to the door or the cage and closed it. The 'young man', Dodge, who worked at the sanctuary made to lock the cage, but I held out my hand stopping him. I looked him in the eye and shooed him away. The look on his face went from one filled with smugness to one of displeasure and hatred towards me. His coworker, Rodney, seemed quite pleased with how I treated him even though he couldn't admit it. It was hard not to see that he wore a red sweater similar to Caesar and for whatever reason, that stuck in my head.

I opened the door and stepped inside the cage against Will's efforts to stop me.

Gently, I reached out my hand to touch Caesar's back but before I could touch him, he turned around and faced me. It was upsetting how annoying it was when people could hear you and you couldn't hear anything.

"Lily, go home," Caesar signed.

"Not without Caesar!" I told him.

"Caesar not belong with humans. Lily belong with humans."

"Family belong at home. Here not home."

"Home here for Caesar. Maurice family. Rocket family." He pointed to the respective orangutan and bonobo chimp in the surrounding cages.

Tears filled my eyes at Caesar's words. "That's it? Six years forgotten? Mean nothing to you? Meant something to me. You're my best friend."

Caesar turned away at the last statement and faced the back wall. He'd drawn the shape of his window from home on the wall. If that wasn't a testimony as to how much he missed home I didn't know what would be. I got up and walked out of the cage wiping the tears from my eyes. Will made to comfort me but I pushed past him and leaned up against the far wall crossing my arms.

Will and Caroline spoke to Caesar for a minute longer and were not paying attention to me so they didn't see Maurice the orangutan reach an arm out to me.

Maurice signed something to me. "Caesar love you." I had no idea any of the other apes in the sanctuary knew how to use sign language so I was caught off guard for a moment.

It was hard to say whether or not he meant it or was just saying it to make me feel better, but it made me cry regardless. He reached out and wiped the tear from my cheek.

"Take care. Hard times ahead."

What did he mean? What was going to happen? He backed away into his cage as Will approached.

"Home," Will signed taking my hand.

I looked back over my shoulder at Maurice and he signed one last thing that only I could see. "Be careful, Lily."

Wow this chapter was way shorter than I thought it was. I'm sorry!
