A/N: I missed this story a ton, ENJOY!
"Breathe girl breathe, you are a princess, you can handle this feast thing." Avery said quietly to herself.
"Wow." Riley said getting up from the stump he was sitting on
"What?" Avery asked
"You look beautiful Alex." Riley said smiling, Avery instantly blushed even if he said Alex
"Thanks Specs." Avery said, "Shall we?" she asked hoping he took the lead because she had no idea where she was going.
"Right." Riley said, he led her a little ways away and into the heart of the camp, there was a long table that probably could fit up to fifty or more people, on it were so many different types of food the air around her smelt so good. She noticed that they were the last to arrive, everyone kept on talking, Riley took his seat, there were two seats left assuming her father took the head of the table she sat in the chair by Riley and smiled at everyone who greeted her. It wasn't long until her father came and when he did her breath hitched.
There he was, his brown locks, deep dimples, blue eyes. He was everything her mother and sister described.
"Hello my darling." Robin said placing a quick kiss to her forehead, Avery suddenly felt so overwhelmed tears began to flood her eyes. Robin looked at her concerned.
"Are you okay Alex?" Robin asked, Avery wiped away her tears and nodded. He kept his eyes locked with his daughter for a few seconds until the table grew quiet. He cleared his throat and stood by his chair, everyone remained seated.
"As you all know it is our annual feast and hunt time, I would like to thank the Cabot clan for gifting all this divine food for our people, I will make this short and sweet because I can see the hunger in all your eyes." Robin said, everyone chuckled. "Now the hunt and games will begin tomorrow, may the best pierce the heart of the deer and be blessed by the forest goddess with luck for the year. To you Sherwood forest." Robin said lifting his cup, everyone else did the same Avery mimicked their gesture.
"The forest." Everyone said and drank from the cup. Avery repeated and took a sip. Everyone began to feast, she started too, everything looked delicious and she enjoyed the fact that she could use her hands to eat, something her mother never let her do. She looked up to meet a boy her age staring right at her, he had eerie grey eyes and odd white hair it was pulled back into a bun. Something about him was intriguing. She looked away and stared at her plate, she looked up again to see him still staring at her he smiled flashing his pearly white teeth, she smiled back and turned to Riley.
"Who's that?" she whispered, Riley looked up at her then to the direction she motioned to, he swallowed his food.
"Alex that's Lucas." He said in matter of fact way, "Are you sure you're okay?" he asked she nodded
"His eyes are so strange." She mumbled
"What do you mean? It's black." Riley said, Avery squinted her eyes and rubbed them, nope they were still grey.
"I think your glasses are broken it totally is grey and his hair is weird, why is it white? Is it like a family trait?" Avery asked
"I think you need glasses Alex; his hair is black too." Riley said staring at her for a moment, Avery looked at him in a strange way, she went back to eating convincing herself that all this fresh air was getting to her.
"So darling, how was your time in the forest?" Robin asked pulling Avery out of her thoughts, Avery instantly turned and smiled at her father.
"It was great." She said admiring just being there talking to her dad.
"Nothing exciting happen?" Robin asked
"Uhm, no." Avery said, she paused for a moment, she wiped her mouth, "Tell me more about my mother." She said, Riley choked on his drink
"Sorry." He mumbled, Riley got up and left, Robin looked at him curious
"This came up out of the blue, why do you ask?" Robin said
"Uhm, I just wish to be somewhat closer to her." Avery said, Robin nodded he wasn't going to deny her knowledge of her mother
"Well like I said before she is absolutely breathtaking, she has very awful temper and sometimes had this little vein popping out of her forehead that's when you knew she was going to conjure up a fireball." Robin said laughing, Avery smiled knowing that's exactly what her mother was like. "She has this throaty chuckle that brings me to my knees and a wonderful scar upon her lip." Robin said, "She has the most perfect porcelain skin and her hair always smelled of apples."
"She sounds so perfect." Avery said
"She is, in every way possible, she was a wonderful mother to you." Robin said pausing he cleared his throat.
"I hope that information will suffice you Alex." Robin said with a sad smile, Avery nodded
"More than enough thank you father." She said, getting up and hugging him while he sat, he kissed her forehead and stared into her blue eyes
"Are you okay darling? You seem a bit off." Robin spoke softly
"I'm perfectly fine dad." Avery said her eyes filling with tears again, "I should probably go check on Riley." Avery said mentally cursing herself for shortening her time with her father.
"Of course, I love you darling." Robin said kissing her cheek, Avery smiled and headed the direction Riley went.
"You think she'll be okay?" Alex asked, Regina nodded
"She will be, don't worry." Regina said smiling, Alex sighed she got up and walked towards the balcony
"What's on your mind dear?" Regina asked following her daughter
"I know you said you'd help me with this dark magic but-" she paused unsure of what to say, the darkness was so easy to channel and all too tempting
"But what?" Regina asked
"What if it's too late, what if the time comes and all I have is dark magic and, and something happens to you or Avery or Dad or someone else I love. What do I do?" Alex sobbed, Regina instantly wrapped her arms around her daughter and kissed her head
"I won't let that happen my love, I won't let it consume you, you may think that I couldn't possible save you from it but love, true love or not, if I can't someone will but I will risk everything for you, you understand that Alexandra." Regina said, Alex sniffled and nodded embracing her mother
"I hope that day never comes." Avery mumbled into her mother's form
"I hope so too dear." Regina whispered
