Snatched Away

Part 11

Previously on Snatched Away: Kim gets tested for the 'job' and an argument erupts between her and Lindsey.

The Next Morning…

Kim awakened in her own bed for the first time in a long time. She had come home last night to be reunited with her family—Mom, Megan, and Nathan. They were extremely happy to see Kim and everyone gave her big hugs. And she got a ton of kisses from Mom. The whole time she was gone at the E.S.O.S.C., her family thought she was on a camping trip with her Bible group. They were brainwashed by Rudy that day in the park when Kim was snatched away. He had been hiding behind a nearby building with his brainwashing device in his hand. No one suspected a thing.

Mom had pancakes and bacon on the table with a pitcher of ice tea. Megan and Nathan were seated already by the time Kim wandered downstairs.

"Honey, aren't you going to have breakfast with us?"

"I would love to, but I have to get to work." Kim replied, sadly.

"Kim, can we play Monopoly tonight?" Nathan asked.

"That sounds like fun, little guy." Kim grinned. Her brother always succeeded at making Kim happy. "Are you playing with us, Meg?"

"Absolutely yes, Sis. And I'm going to dominate the game." Megan smiled.

"Then it's settled. Tonight after dinner is family game night." Mrs. Crawford announced,"Don't be late, dear. We're going to have a great time."

"I'll be here, Mom." Kim answered, joyfully.

...

Kim entered the secret, spy building right on time. Then she clocked into the main office and joined the rest of them in the next room. Rudy and Jerry were playing a car-racing video game while Jack and Lindsey were watching the surveillance cameras at the desk. She growled at the sight of Jack sitting next to that she-beast.

"Where's Milton?" Kim asked, taking a seat on the far end of the sofa.

"He had an orthodontist appointment." Jack answered her, "Come here, sweetheart." He pulled a chair up next to him at the cameras.

"Does he get the entire day off?" Kim smirked, thinking she could skip 'work' if she called in sick.

"No. Are you dumb?" Lindsey grimaced, "He's coming back afterwards."

"No. But you sure are irritating." Kim replied through gritted teeth.

"Lindsey, that was rude." Jack chastised her.

"Well, she's dumb! We can't miss an entire day's of work unless we're really sick."

"She didn't know." He said, looking away from her and focusing on the computer screen.

"Are you seriously dating her?"

"Yes." Jack replied. He leaned close to Kim and kissed her lips.

"You could do so much better." Lindsey said, batting her eyelashes.

"Um...I'm here, you know?!" Kim yelled.

"What was that? Was that the wind that I heard? It has an annoying voice." Lindsey asked.

Jack noticed Kim's face turned bright red with rage. So, he took her hand in his, and briskly walked away. He led her into the master kitchen and they sat down at the steel table. Kim was so angry that she didn't even realize what had happened until she exhaled a deep breath.

"Would you like something to eat?"

"Yes, please. I woke up late and didn't get any breakfast." Kim said.

"I'm going to have to fix that." He grinned.

"No, you don't have to do that." Kim replied, standing up.

"I want to." He said, placing his hands on her shoulders. In response, she sat back down and a smile formed across her face. He turned on the oven and unlatched a skillet from the prong above the stove.

"Oh, Chief Jack, aren't you going to ask me what I want?" Kim asked, flirtatiously.

"I already know you're going to like my world-famous, cheese omelet." He grinned, opening the refrigerator to retrieve a carton of eggs.

"What you did in there was just plain mean!" Lindsey shouted, entering the master kitchen, "How could you abandon me like that, Jack?!"

"I simply diffused a situation that you created." Jack answered, calmly as usual. Kim really liked that quality about him.

Lindsey crossed her arms over her chest and frowned. "What are you making?"

"It's a cheese omelet and it's for me." Kim sneered. Lindsey gave her the middle finger, causing Kim to jump out of her chair and punch her in the nose. She didn't know what hit her, as she fell backwards against the refrigerator. Blood trickled from her nose.

"This has to stop!" Jack yelled, throwing his spatula down on the stovetop. The girls stared at him in shock.

"...Are you alright?" Kim hesitated.

"I'm fine, but you two aren't fine. We shouldn't be fighting each other. We're a team and teams stick together." Jack explained.

"She's the one who's throwing punches!" Lindsey blamed Kim.

"That's only because you're provoking her." He said, turning off the stove and flipping the omelet onto a plate.

"Thank you." Kim smiled, taking the plate from him and sitting down at the table.

"You're welcome, sweetheart." Jack replied, planting a kiss on her cheek. He joined Kim at the table.

"Uh, buh-bye, Lindsey." Kim said, picking up her spoon. Lindsey squinted her eyes in rage, as she exited the master kitchen.

Jack placed his hand softly on top of hers, stopping her from taking a bite of omelet. The instant his skin touched her, she felt butterflies in her stomach. He smiled as he gently pried her fingers off of the spoon. "Allow me." He insisted, placing the spoon in his hand and feeding it to her.

"That is really good." She said.

...

Rudy and Jerry were still playing video games, when Jack and Kim went into the next room. But Lindsey was no where to be seen.

"How long have you been 'working' here?" Kim asked as her and Jack walked over to the surveillance cameras.

"Two years now." He replied, kissing her neck. Goosebumps rose up and down her spine from the amazing sensation she felt.

"Don't you ever get sick of it?"

"Sometimes...Why?" Jack furrowed his eye-brows.

"I hate lying to my family and I hardly ever get to spend time with them." Kim admitted, drawing circles around his biceps with her fingers, "My Mom thinks that I'm a dog groomer... And I don't see myself living this lifestyle forever basically."

"I know that it's hard. But we don't have a choice." He said, slowly kissing her cheek.

"Not fair! I want a do-over!" Rudy whined, "I only lost the race because I sneezed, Jerry!"

"Nope, I won." Jerry laughed.

"Rudy?"

"Yes, Kim?"

"How do you contact the government?"

"There the number is in the E.S.O.S.C phone book in my safe under the floor in the bathroom." Rudy said.

Jack's eyes widened. "Rudy, she wants to ask them if she can quit."

"What?! No, Kim. We must never contact them for that reason." Rudy warned her.

"I'm sure that if you just talk to them, it won't hurt anything." Kim said.

"I'm not giving you the combination to the safe." Rudy replied, "I'm sorry, but it's too risky."

"Fine, if that's what you guys think is best." She lied.

to be continued...

AN: It looks like Kim has decided to find that number... What will be the consequences of her actions?

The guys were over-reacting and everything will be fine, or the guys meant exactly what they said and she will be in danger?

And remember: this story is a tragedy, so something tragic is going to happen in chapter 12 (the last chapter) *teardrop*.

Thank you all for all the wonderful comments! Be sure to tune in for the grand finale! :D
