Ok so just imagen fallout 4 stuff in fallout 3. It'll make things easier for when I get to fallout 4 in the next chapter. IE Gatling Laser uses fusion cores for ammo. Plasma guns have their own ammo, but they retain the original barrel, Gauss weapons use the 2mm EC and the fallout 3 and new Vegas gauss weapons are now called gauss cannons however things like the miniguns I will do my best to specify which model i.e. Vindicator or Avenger. And stuff like the heavy incinerator or well anything from NV well just try to picture them in fallout 4 the best you can. Also, Sarah Lyons will be leading the brotherhood in fallout 4. I just couldn't fit Maxson's Brotherhood into the fic. Thanks to T-Biggz and DgGeoff for voting. DgGeoff if you want to assist me in placing Maxson in the fic please PM me. Otherwise he'll most likely go out like a badass while fighting the Enclave.

Purity of Steel.

They had been back for a few hours. Dani had run into an older woman who claimed to know her father. It turns out that Star Paladin Cross helped my father get me to Megaton. She asked to tag along to honor James memory by helping retake and complete project purity. Dani agreed and they set off for vault 87. But during the trip, Cross kept looking at Alex and it made him slightly annoyed. "Something I can do for you Star paladin?"

"I'm just curious about the fate of the Mojave chapter. What happened to make you destroy them?"

Alex let out a deep sigh. "They were going to help the legion take Hoover Dam. My friend Veronica had tired to convince them to change their ways. We even found a weapon that could disable power armor. But all that ended up doing was getting her exiled. Then about two weeks later…it happened." Alex took a moment. "We got a report about of a settlement being slaughtered by the legion, so my friends and I went to see if we could put a stop to it. We found the usual horrors. Piles of burns corpses, heads on pikes, people crucified. But then we saw legion and brotherhood soldiers killing those who remained. We took them out and then I knew peace wasn't going to happen. So, we geared up and headed into the Hidden Valley bunker and killed them all."

Cross looked at Alex with steel glare. "Why didn't you try to negotiate?" Alex stopped in his tracks.

"We tired. So many times, did we try to come to peace with them. But as you know they were far too set in their ways to change. They didn't want the NCR to have any tech that could pose a threat to them. They knew the Legion didn't care about energy weapons or electricity and they didn't care what would have happened to the people of the Mojave had the NCR lost. Look I won't apologise for doing what needed to be done. But Cross look at everything your chapter has done here, I think you should take heart in your deeds. You've built a chapter that can say you've done good. Very few chapters can claim that and fewer still are still around."

There was a moment of silence before Cross spoke up. "Well at least you avenged those innocents that were killed." Nobody said anything else until they reached little lamplight. They looked at the entrance to the cavern. There was no way to get to Vault 87's entrance so this was the only way in there. They had no idea what awaited them in there so they pulled out their weapons. They moved into the tunnel only to be stooped by a bullet nearly missing Dani's head.

"Don't come any closer or I'll blow your fucking head off!" A kid with a sniper rifle yelled from cover.

"Woah! Hold your fire we come in peace!" After a moment, Alex used his helmet on the end of his laser RCW to check if the kid was still going to fire. When his helmet wasn't shot at he got out of cover. "Easy now we're not here to cause trouble. We're just trying to get into Vault 87."

From what Alex, could guess the kid was about twelve years old. In the distance, he could hear banging. A loud pounding that could only be caused by anger super mutants. While Alex had made friends with many super mutants he had no delusions that all of them could be peaceful.

The kid looked terrified and Alex knew why. "So, mind lowering the gun?" The kid lowers his rifle.

"Ok mungo I hate to say this but we…we need help. The monsters are starting to break down the walls. As the mayor, I have to keep everyone safe…" The banging was getting louder. Cross came out of cover.

"Have no fear the brotherhood can keep you all safe. We can get you out of here." The rest of the group came out.

The banging grew ever louder. Alex guessed they had about five minutes before the wall gave in to the assault. It took about three minutes to get everyone out. The kids were scared because a few days ago, a few of them were taken by slavers. Clinton and Sarah decided to go rescue them after they had gotten the rest to safety. Alex and Dani would get the G.E.C.K from the vault and join them when they could.

Alex had gotten out his grenade machine gun. He loaded it with 25mm plasma grenades and aimed at the wall. The mutants had already cracked it and it grew worse with every bash. After another minute the wall gave in.

The mutants ran through the hole they made with great speed. Alex smirked an opened fire. His first volley had considerable effect on them. His grenades had blown a good number of them apart. Limbs and chunks of meat had been splattered everywhere.

Dani had taken position up on a catwalk and had fired her laser gun into their back ranks. Those few that remained were smart enough to run back the way they came. However, Alex had reloaded.

"Running away won't save you! I'll just shoot you in your asses!" He continued to fire at the group until they were nothing but chunks. "Well that went well." Dani dropped down next to him.

"Think we'll see anymore of them?" She looked down the cavern.

"Most likely. Don't worry I've got your back." He pulled her into a quick kiss. Dani smiled and they moved deeper in.

Meanwhile…

Joshua looked over at the super mutant in the cell next to his. His speech was surprisingly normal and he was more intelligent than any other one he had come across. "It would seem you have the grace of god on your side for surviving."

"I need to find my daughter. Ugh my head hurts!" He rubbed his temples to try and relive the pain of is transformation.

"Stay calm I have no idea how but I have faith someone will come for us. If we're lucky we may be able to over power a guard. But right now, we need to be patient."

The mutant sat up against the wall and they began to discuss a plan.

In Vault 87…

Dani's P.O.V

We walked through the halls of this vault shocked at the horrors we found. Alex had found a terminal which held the data on this vault. The events we witnessed from the cameras were horrific. People begin forcibly dragged into labs and turn into super mutants and then the aftermath of their escape. I've a hard time not being sick at the thought of it.

The walls are rusted over, it's dark, and there's this horrible smell in the air. We head deeper in only to hear something from a nearby intercom.

"You... over there. Please, come speak to me. I'm in the room to your left. Use the intercom next to the window." I turn to see a super mutant in a room. I turn to Alex and he nods his head. We approach slowly and activate the intercom.

"It can't be! Either you two are quite real, or I am going quite mad. Could you actually be pure humans?"

"Yes, we're human. But who are you?" I know Alex has told me about smart super mutants but this is the first one I've met who wasn't trying to kill me.

"Me? You care who I am? Forgive me, but I'm not used to pleasantries. I'm more used to grunts and being struck about by the others. My name's Fawkes. I've lived in this... cage all my life."

"Nice to meet you Fawkes I'm Dani and this is Alex. Your name is quite an unusual one. But it does sound familiar. No offense meant."

"It was taken from a historical entry in the computer. The name comes from a man who was willing to fight and die for what he believed in. I felt it was appropriate given my circumstances."

"It's amazing how well you can speak."

"Yes. I suppose it is. When my captors placed me here, they were too stupid to realize this room contained a working terminal. I've spent all my life teaching myself to read and speak based on the information stored on the Vault's Mainframe. Ironic, isn't it? Surrounded by the world's history and yet my world consists of this tiny room."

"But why have you been imprisoned?"

"Because I'm a curiosity; an anomaly. They don't know why I'm different than they are and I think it fascinates them. All of the locked rooms in the medical wing contain failed experiments that they created."

"But why have they kept you alive?"

"I think when I was created, something went wrong and I didn't come out like they planned. Just like the other things in this makeshift cell block, we're the results of what they would call failed experiments if they were smart enough."

"How ironic that the others consider you a mutant of their kind." The comment just slipped out of my mouth as I knew what it was like to be treated differently.

"Yes, indeed it is ironic. Forgive my astonishment, but I hadn't expected to meet someone with such a learned outlook of these things. It is a pleasant change. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, it was only a matter of time before someone like you showed up for the G.E.C.K."

"You know about the G.E.C.K.?"

"I know what it is, I know where it is and best of all, I know how you can get your hands on it." I had to admit it sounded to good to be true but, something about this guy made him seem ok. Plus, the fact that Alex hadn't pulled a gun and tired shooting him through the window. But still a nagging question hanged at the back of my mind.

"Why would you help us?"

"Because, you can help me. Let me out of this place. I can't take it anymore. I can't even recall how long I've been here. Take me with you, and I'll retrieve the G.E.C.K. for you."

Alex spoke up next. "I think it's save to say we're not opposed to letting you. But why would you want to get the G.E.C.K. for us? Couldn't you just tell us where it is once we get you out of there? Or am I right to assume that the G.E.C.K. is in a place we can't reach ourselves?"

"Ah so you are both clever! Indeed, the chamber the G.E.C.K. resides in is flooded with radiation. Far too lethal for the both of you to survive in for any amount of time."

"But you being a super mutant can just walk right in and get it back to us." Alex says clearly thinking about letting him out.

"Ugh. Must you use that vulgar term? Yes, I was born in the F.E.V. Chambers but a Super Mutant I certainly am not. I prefer the term Meta Human. Suits me better don't you think?"

"Sorry I meant no offense. Those like you and the west coast that are intelligent don't overly mind the term. They would most likely refer to the rest of your…kind as dumb dumbs as they lack proper intelligence to do more than smash or shoot things." Alex seems calm so I asked the obvious question.

"How do we get you out?"

"At the end of the hallway to your right is a maintenance room. Inside, you'll find the fire control console for the medical area. Trip the alarm on it, and I'll be able to get out. A word of warning though. Tripping the console activates a failsafe and will open ALL of the recovery rooms in the medical area. So, what do you think? Can you do it?" I look at Alex and he just nods as he loads his LMG.

"Okay, Fawkes. You've got a deal."

"I'm glad to see you are a sensible person. Now, get me out of this place. I can't stand it anymore!"

"Don't worry. We'll be right back."

We head down the hall to find the console. Looking into the other cells and seeing the twisted shapes of the horrors that lay inside made me a bit queasy. We find the terminal Fawkes mentioned and Alex tries to power it up, but nothing happens. "Well shit there goes plan a."

"What happened to it?" I ask trying to figure out how to get Fawkes out now.

"Not sure. But if I had to hazard a guess, it looks like the console is corroded to hell on the inside."

"Do we have a plan b?"

"Well we could try other means of getting him out of there."

"Well let's head back then." I sigh as we head back down the hall."

Fawkes greets us using the intercom again.

"Is something the matter?"

Alex begins looking the door over for weak points.

"Sadly, the console is broken. We need another way to get you out."

"I'm not sure there is one. I've tired to get out before but the door and window were built to last!"

"Maybe against brute force but not from something a little more high tech." Alex uses his Omnipack and pulls out some sort of laser? It was too big to be a gatling laser. "I found this while exploring. It's supposed to be a high-powered mining laser. Hopefully it'll burn through the door. Keep as far away as you can big guy. Dani cover your eyes! This is gonna be bright!"

Alex places it on a tripod and fires a massive laser beam at the door. After about a minute the door is gone.

"Finally…freedom! True freedom! I cannot thank you enough for this gift. You have no idea how long I've pictured this moment in my mind… and it feels far better than I'd imagined. Now, for my part of the bargain. Follow me."

"Lead the way."

We walk further down the halls but something begins to nag at me in the back of my mind. I don't know what it is but something feels wrong. I'm brought out of my thoughts when Alex asks Fawkes to tell us about himself.

"I was born here, in this place. I don't mean that in the literal sense of course. All I can remember is the excruciating pain that tore through me as my body underwent the rapid physical changes. For most, this moment is what severs the grip on their minds. They become barely a shell of their former selves. I was different. When I spoke to them, they immediately branded me "another failure" and had me placed here as a curiosity."

"So, you've been stuck in that room for a long time huh?"

"Yes. I've never been anywhere else. I used to mark the passage of time, but after a few years, it didn't seem to matter anymore. The only thing that prevented me from going insane was the working access point to the Vault Mainframe in my makeshift cell. The terminal in my cell used to connect with Vault 87's mainframe. That gave me access to the history, literature, science and fiction book files. I used this extensive database of works to better myself and my understanding of everything around me. It was only recently the others caught me using the terminal and destroyed it to torment me."

"Do you…remember who you were before?" I ask hesitantly.

"I don't remember enough to tell you everything about my former self. My metamorphosis destroyed a good deal of my long-term memory. However, I can recall being in this place when it wasn't the macabre laboratory that it's become. I remember walking around this place and seeing other humans in white lab coats and blue jumpsuits. I wish I could find out more, but the personnel information for the Vault wasn't in the mainframe for some reason. I feel like my identity is so close to me... I can almost see myself as a human but can't recollect the details. It's maddening."

"Well that would explain how you know the layout."

"Yes, these hallways are familiar to me... I think I used to be here in better times. I wish I could remember more, but I'm afraid it's all a blur. As for the G.E.C.K., it's always rested where it does now. The foolish Super Mutants don't even know what they have."

"Anyone else think it's a little to quiet?" Alex asked looking down the empty hallways. And then I realize that's what's been bugging me! It's far too quiet in here.

"Perhaps the two of you killed enough that the others thought it best to run? You both seem rather capable."

"He has a point Alex we did kill a lot of them when we entered."

"I still don't like it…"

"Ah here it is. Please wait here." Fawkes enters a glowing room and returns a few moments later.

"Here you are. I hope you use it wisely. Well I'm afraid this is where we part company. I'll find my way out of this place, don't worry. Maybe we'll meet again somewhere in the Wasteland."

"Thanks Fawkes. Come on Alex we need to get back to the Citadel!" We bolt down the halls of the ruined vault. But as we got close to exit. A loud bang was the last thing I heard before everything went black.

Third POV

Fawkes witnessed his rescuers be knocked unconscious and the G.E.C.K. stolen from them. He kept to the shadows as best he could. Getting shot would not help him save those that had freed him.

He was unable to stop them from getting into their vehicle but he was able to track its movements. It would take some time but he would catch up.

But he would need more than his hammer if he was going to rescue his friends. He spotted a lone man in the same armor of the ones that took his friends and he was carrying a gatling laser. From what Fawkes remembered that was a truly powerful weapon. Just the sort of thing he'd need for a rescue mission.

He snuck up behind him.

"Pardon me."

"Huh?" Fawkes slammed his hammer into the man's head. It proved very effective. He picked up the gatling laser as well as a belt of fusion cores. He tied the belt around his waist and started running.

"Hold on my friends."

Raven Rock specimen holding lab hours later…

James tired his best to move in his new form. Everything felt heavier. He limbs, his eyes, and movements. He had no idea how long he had been like this. It was at this point Colonel Autumn came into the room.

"Ah so you can move after all. Well I just thought I'd check in on you to see your progress. We may make something of you yet. Now if you'll excuse me your daughter has some information we need." The evil smirk on his face caused James to snap. It was as if a switch was turned on, He began to bash the glass. But it was thick, far too thick for him to break. His rage kept him going. By some miracle, he still held his memories. Well most of them anyway he couldn't remember his childhood but that didn't really matter to him as his child was in danger and he had to do something .

Joshua just looked on unsure of how to calm him down. At present, there was nothing he could do.

In a cell….

Dani slowly regained consciousness. Everything felt fussy. Until her vision cleared and she saw Colonel Autumn.

"So, you're awake. Let's keep this nice and simple. You're going to tell me the code to the Purifier, and your going to tell me now." Dani just felt angry. She shouted the first thing that came into her mind.

"What the hell is going on here?"

"I'll tell you what's going on here. You lost. The good guys won this one, and now we're just wrapping up loose ends. We've got the purifier, now we just need the code to start it. You're going to give me that code now, and save us all a lot of trouble. Maybe I'll even let you and your boyfriend go. So how about it?" Alex had something covering his mouth and he was tired up with chains.

"Fuck you." Was all she had to say. A statement which Alex echoed even being unable to speak.

"I'll be honest. I'm running out of patience here, and I'm not looking the play games with you. You tell me that code, or it's going to cost you."

Dani just let out a laugh. "No, seriously. Fuck you."

"Why do you insist on provoking me? Tell me the code NOW!" The Colonel was losing his well-kept look. His face was getting red with rage. But as he was getting ready to do something the camera, or what Dani thought was a camera. Started to speak.

"Colonel I have need of you."

"Mr. President, I have no time for other matters. I'll be with you shortly."

"Now Colonel."

"Yes Sir." Colonel Autumn walked out of the room. The camera looked directly at Dani.

"Ah. Alone at last. I do apologize for Colonel Autumn's attitude. He's been under a great deal of stress lately. I've no doubt that you know who I am. I'm sure you've heard my radio broadcasts. I'd to have a word with you two face to face. I think there are a few things we should discuss. You'll find your possessions in the locker by the door. I'll unlock the way for you and I'll unlock your restraints as well. I'll be waiting for you in my office. Please don't tarry." The force field went down for both of them and the lock that held Alex's chains together fell off resulting in a loud clang once they hit the floor. Dani rushed to Alex just in time for him to get the thing covering his mouth off. She kissed him deeply. A kiss he returned with equal force. They broke it up quickly and got their gear back. Luckily for them, the enclave couldn't get their armor off them.

Dani was thankful for the nanoweave being very hard for anyone but her to remove from her body. She didn't much care for being interrogated and the thought of being interrogated while naked made her skin crawl. But she and Alex now had their packs back and quickly armed themselves.

They walked out of the room and were noticed by a guard.

"Hold right there. You're supposed to be in that holding cell. You're not going anywhere! There's a full complement of guards in the next room. As soon as I get them, you're going back to your cell. In a body bag, if necessary."

"Whoa, whoa. Let's calm down. We're supposed to be here." Dani said raising her hands.

"On who's authority? I have no records of that. You're supposed to be in a holding cell."

"Your boss. He wanted us to come and see him in his office. So, you better let us pass before you get in trouble." Alex said in a very confident tone. Smirking as he crosses his arms.

"What? No one sees the president except Colonel Autumn. Stand right there while I check this out." He walked up to a camera. "Um Mr. President I'm sorry to bother you uh. Sir. But this is Lieutenant Williams here. I have two unauthorized people you say their supposed to speak with you?"

"I'm surprised to hear from you Lieutenant. I don't recall authorizing you to contact me directly."

"Yes Sir. I err am sorry about that. I. I. Just it just seemed out of the ordinary. I apologise."

"Apology noted Lieutenant. Yes, I instructed our friends to come up to the control room. No questions. No interference. Am I understood?"

"I understand sir again I apologise for the interruption."

"Allow our friends to pass and report to your superior for reassignment Lieutenant, At once."

"Yes Sir." He ran the other way looking scared out of his mind. The President came up over the intercom informing the troops that They should be allowed to pass.

"Probably won't be long before the Colonel tries something love. We'd better moved!" Alex said as they picked up the pace. It took about two minutes before the Colonel ordered they be shot on sight. They just barely made it into cover before a volley of plasma fire came down the hall. Alex and Dani returned fire with gauss rifles. They ended up fighting from cover to cover and were vastly outnumbered. They made effective use of the considerable arsenal at their command. But the enemy's numbers gave them no choice but to duck into a nearby lab. Alex sealed the door behind them. They saw several large glass containment cells. One of which Alex stayed very far away from.

Dani just saw the super mutant in the cell and stared. It looked too familiar. It looked up at her and its eyes widened. 'It couldn't be…could it?' she approached the cell slowly. It stood up as well.

"D…dad?" Dani asked tears welling up in her eyes as she recognised what remained of his 101 jumpsuit. Alex stood there in shock. James was luckily indeed. He then noticed an old friend.

"Graham? What are you doing here?"

"Greetings my friend. I must admit I'm surprised to see you here. I was wondering what happened to you after you left Zion."

Alex Smirked. "Well you should be happy to know that Caesar is dead. Along with most of his Legion. Your replacement is also gone."

"It's hard to believe that after all this time after everything he's thrown at me. He died first."

"Oh, yeah and he went out like a coward, He tired to use his slave girls as a shield in the end. Didn't workout so well when my friend Boone and I shot him clean through his head. Which he left exposed. Ok we don't have long before the Enclave breaks down the door. So, any idea how we open these?"

"I think the switch is up on those catwalks up there." James pointed up.

"Thanks James. I'll get it open. Dani get ready we'll need to move out the other door once these open."

"Got it."

Alex reached the switch and opened their cells. He also purged the others as they held creatures too dangerous to risk getting lose in the capital wasteland.

Dani hugged her father. James aware of his new strength was careful with returning the hug. The last thing he wanted was to hurt his little girl.

"Ok now we need to get to the control center." The four of them followed the signs and made to the control room with no further trouble. Alex guessed the Colonel had called his men back. To block their escape in case they made it to the president.

"Well time to meet this president." Alex and Dani walked up the stairs to find a massive screen awaiting them.

"Ah face to face at last. It's high time we met. I am quite pleased you were able to make it. The trip was not what I had intended, but serves as an adequate test of your abilities."

"If we're meeting face to face, then show yourself. Don't hide behind a monitor." Dani said. Unaware that he wasn't hiding.

"Ah, but I have! I am right here before you."

"Where are you? All I see is…computers…oh."

"You should feel privileged. Colonel Autumn is the only other human permitted within this room. You are now privy to one of the few secrets our government now harbors. Do keep it to yourselves, please."

"This is fascinating!"

"I'm glad you think so. Perhaps a bit later we can discuss it in more detail. Right now, I'd like to focus on why you're here. I've asked you both here for a reason, and we need to talk about it."

"We're listening." Alex said as he made sure his Laser RCW was ok.

"Our nation's capital is at a crossroads. The path that we choose here today will affect us all. I need you to act on my behalf, to ensure that our country's future is secured."

"Care to explain what you mean?" Dani had a bad feeling about where this was going.

"My abilities to influence the world are limited at this time. I alone can only do so much. You two however, may come and go as you please. You have a greater degree of freedom. Perhaps it is best if I explain why things need to change, and why I'd like you two to act on my behalf."

"Say whatever it is you have say."

"Our land is ravaged buy mutation. The war was so many years ago, yet we still suffer from it's effects. We cannot move forward until humanity can gain a solid foothold in the world. To do so, we must rid ourselves of the mutations that have plagued us for so long. These "Super Mutants," Ghouls, hideous creatures…I believe your father's work can do that in a way unlike any other."

"I really don't like the sound of this."

"The purifier your father helped create has the ability to provide clean water to the whole of this "Capital Wasteland". With a simple modification, it can be used to distribute agents that destroy mutated creatures upon ingestion. In time, we could eliminate all mutations in the Wasteland at the same time the good people of the world regain their health. I need you to make the modification necessary for this to succeed."

"How exactly would I go about doing this?" Her tone clearly stated that she had no intention of considering this but the President didn't seem to notice.

"In front of you will be a vial of modified FEV virus. It can be inserted into the control console for the purifier. Doing so will inject it into the water supply, and the purifier will take care of the rest. You just need the code to activate the purifier. Simple, isn't it?"

Dani knew she probably couldn't refuse and be able to leave. "I'll give it some thought." Was all she could think to say.

"I understand. It's an unusual request; one I wouldn't make if it weren't of the utmost importance. Please understand that I cannot allow you to leave until you've taken the vial." Dani took the vile. Looking at the console in front of her she got an idea. She hacked in to Eden's systems. "W…what…A…are you do…ing? New programing accepted. Self destruct activated. All personal are advised to leave. All doors opening. Goodbye."

"Ha! I knew that would work Now let's get out of here before this place blows sky high!" The four of them run out the door to find the enclave troops running for their lives. James was doing his best to stay calm and collected. He felt the urge to try and knock the walls down. He would need a way to control the FEV in his system. Hopefully Alex could help in that regard. The young man was surely going to end up being family.

James hated what he had been turned into. But he realized in his cell that he now had a second chance. Yes, his little girl had grown up. But she is still his child and now it looks like she is on her way to getting her own family.

As they four of them Exited the base Dani and Alex were surprised to see Fawkes firing a gatling laser at nearby Enclave troops.

"My friends! I see I've found you at last. I knew you had survived, and I had hoped to assist in your rescue to repay my debt to you."

"Fawkes? How did you know we were here? Not that I complaining."

"I saw your capture, and a little cleverness allowed me to follow your captors. I only wish I could have arrived sooner to aid your escape! As I owe you my freedom, I felt it was only fair that I return the favor. After all, I know no-one else in this world."

"Thanks, big guy."

"Um Dani I think we should find some cover as-" Alex didn't get to finish his sentence as Raven Rock blew up behind them. They ducked behind a nearly group of large rocks and watched as pieces of the base came flying down. "Never mind. Good to see you again Fawkes."

They Joshua and James exchanged pleasantries with Fawkes as well.

"So, my daughter rescued you form vault eighty-seven?"

"Indeed. I feared I had gone mad when I first saw these two. But you say your transformation was recent?"

"Yes, a few days ago, I must admit that I'm shocked my mind and some of my memories stayed intact."

"Well that's the FEV for you. It can be a crapshoot depending on certain circumstances. But we really need to head back to the Citadel."

"Fawkes why don't you come with us we could us the help." Dani didn't want to see her new friend go off alone as she wasn't sure how long he'd last on his own. Plus, she and Alex might be able to stop the Brotherhood from filling him full of holes.

"My friend, I would be honored to follow a hero such as yourself. Shall we go?"

"Alright. Graham we can at least get you back to the Mojave from the Citadel."

"Thank you my friend. Hopefully I will find Daniel well."

It took hours to get back to the Citadel but Alex found quite the surprise. His friends from the Mojave were waiting for him plus Dog and Christine.

"What are you guys doing here?" Alex asked in a state of awe.

"We thought we'd come help you out with whatever it is you're up to. To tell you the truth Alex, things got kinda dull without you around. We missed you." Cass said. Everyone else echoed her statements and it nearly brought Alex to tears.

"I really have missed you guys."

"Your Friend Clinton brought us up to speed on the situation before he went charging off to someplace called paradise falls. So, the Enclave is still kicking?" Boone asked.

"Yep and they're still a huge pain in the ass." Elder Lyons walks up to them from the lower floor.

"Ah you've returned. We fear you both lost. Were you successful in finding the G.E.C.K?"

"Yes and no?" Dani said rubbing her left arm.

"What do you mean?" Lyons looked at them confused.

"Well thanks to Fawkes here we did get it…but then the enclave found and captured us. They now have it. But, their main base is gone so…it's a glass half full kinda deal." Alex said while gesturing balance with his hands.

"What! Oh, dear then that leaves us no choice we must move on the Purifier. Was there anything else you needed? Please don't leave anything out."

"Eden wanted me to sabotage the project with some kind of virus."

"I see. And where is this virus now?"

"I have right here. Please see it's destroyed."

"Thank you. I'll see to it that it's disposed of properly, once the Scribes have had time to analyze it. Sarah!"

Sarah Lyons ran up the stairs. "Yes Father?"

"Sarah gather the pride. We must Launch an attack on the purifier!"

"It will be done at once father. When you two are ready to head out come talk to me." She ran back down the steps.

"Right, first let's get you back to the Mojave." Alex sent Graham through to the Mojave after giving him some supplies for the road, tending to his bandages, making sure he would have a proper escort back to Zion with the promise of aid to reclaim it later, and saying goodbye. Alex then called in his closest units. It was time to go to war.

Alex had quickly looked over Liberty Prime. His systems were good to go. Dr. Li had helped figure out Prime's power systems alongside Alex's tech bots. Liberty Prime was fully functional for the first time ever!

Alex received a signal from his pipboy. "Well my guys are good to go."

Sarah Lyons came up to him and Dani. "Since we're heading into battle do either of you want to use a set Brotherhood power armor?" Dani accepted do to the fact she knew there would be heavy fighting and she didn't want to be stuck in the back ranks.

"I'm alright." Alex said as he put his helmet back on. "Now shall we?"

"Alright everyone we're going to take back the purifier and this city back from the Enclave let's move out!" Cheers filled the room as the members the of pride charged out of the room and Liberty Prime was being raised outside.

As the Prime began to walk he said. "Liberty Prime is online. All systems nominal. Weapons hot. Mission: the destruction of any and all Chinese communists."

Before he could get going however five vertibirds came into view firing lasers.

"Targets locked." Atlas Alex's biggest bot used his shoulder cannons to blast the vertibirds to pieces. "Atlas online.

Prime walked up to Atlas. They were about the same height. Atlas spoke to prime. "Liberty Prime acknowledge allied unit under special order two five six delta."

"Allied unit acknowledged. Purpose of allied unit?"

"Heavy defense of pentagon against communist attack."

"Acknowledged. Liberty Prime to crush communist attack. Freedom is non-negotiable!" With that Liberty Prime marched off toward the closest Enclave fortification and threw a nuke at it.

The Troops follow behind providing support fire. "Hey how'd your bot know what to say to Prime?" Sarah Lyons asked Alex as she fired her minigun into far off Enclave turrets.

"Prime was built in part by RobCo. So, House had a great deal of information on all his secret command codes. Including adding new bots to his list of allies. It was made just in case the US government had new bots put into service. He also had some sort of plan to find and rebuild Prime to help him hold onto the strip. He had some ideas on the power systems that my bots used them to get him up and running now." He replied while avoiding incoming fire.

"So, you have command codes?" Sarah asked in a somewhat accusatory tone.

"Some of them. But is this really the best time to be talking about this? Look let's just focus on taking back the purifier. Once that's done I'll happily tell you anything you want about your shiny death robot, okay?" Alex put a bit of humor to his voice.

"I'll hold you to that." Sarah said. She couldn't deny that Alex was a very capable fighter. But he was also a possible threat. He told them of his actions against the Mojave chapter. She understood his reasons or what her father had relayed to her. Her father seemed to trust him and she trusted her father's judgement. But she would keep an eye on him in the meantime.

The Enclave had wasted no time in setting up defenses. They heavily fortified the path to the purifier and they had air support. Liberty Prime thankfully made sort work of most of the vertibirds. Boone and Christen were taking out enemy snipers left and right. Fawkes, Lily, and Dog were bringing death to any enclave solider who were stupid enough to get close.

"Why is it we always seem to be running toward gunfire?" Arcade asked as a plasma shot nearly hit his left arm. He had some reservations about the current events. But he knew that the Enclave, at least these guys were evil and had no remorse for their actions. Alex had been a good friend to him and always had his back when he needed it and Arcade in turn had his. which was what lead to the current battle.

"Aw come on Arcade that's half the fun!" Veronica said from inside her modified suit of power armor. She was clearly enjoying herself using her tesla fists to punch and clobber her way into the enemy lines.

The Enclave was putting up a good fight but they were begin cut down by far better fighters. Alex and Dani stayed close together during the fighting. Dani rather enjoyed feeling like a walking tank but she did feel limited in her movement. She was also finally seeing Alex's friends in action. She was very impressed at the way they worked together. She hoped she was at least half as good as they were.

They had to push for every inch of ground but they were getting close to the purifier. Dani felt her heart racing. She was so close to her goal.

Meanwhile back at the Citadel…

James sat on an improvised chair while one of Alex's robots looked him over. This was one of his medical bots. The white and red color scheme as well as the caduceus symbol located on it's right shoulder were clear signs this bot was designed for medicine.

"Hold still please sir." The bot was running some sort of scan on his brain.

"What are you looking for?" James asked hesitantly not sure why the bot was scanning his head.

"I'm checking your brain for signs of damage. When someone is exposed to the FEV with a large amount of radiation in their bodies often have difficultly with certain functions. Like thinking clearly. You however seem to be fine. At least in brain function and your ability to speak is much better than most super mutants, at least compared to the ones made during the Master's attack on the wasteland."

"So, what is your prognosis?"

"Well according to your scan your healthy. There is no evidence of degradation in your brain and your senses are within normal parameters. But we should keep you under observation for a time to ensure your mental health. Now I just need to run some simple tests and you should be good to go."

At Paradise falls…

Clinton, Sarah, and Cross had been slaughtering slavers left and right. Crimson had taken on his bigger form and was guarding the children. Mauling any slavers that dared get close. They had saved the children and decided to clear the place. Which took a little while. Once the slavers had all been killed they began to escort the remaining children back to the Citadel. The adult slaves had just made a run for it and would not listen to them.

Paradise falls burned behind them. The sky became clouded and it began to rain heavily. They children had been through a lot and the rags they had been wearing were certainly not fit for travel under such conditions. They took cover in a mostly in tacked building.

Clinton and Sarah were putting their Omnipacks to good use. Alex had put all sorts of useful things into the system including various child sized outfits. Each was very well made and seemed to have been built to protect a child in the wasteland. They handed the children coats to help them warm up.

Cross had checked the building for any threats but found it empty. So, they made sure the y children were safe. Crimson was marching back and forth as if waiting for danger to appear. When no danger showed up Crimson returned to his smaller form and began to play with the kids. Clinton and Sarah headed to the roof where they should see explosions in the distance. They knew that Alex and Dani were behind this.

Near the Purifier,

The Enclave lines have been broken. Their last line of defense was inside. Dani felt her heart jump into her throat. Her goal was in sight. 'We're so close mom!' Dani thought as she, Alex and co, headed for the entrance. Fawkes got in front of the group and opened the door. There was no one inside. The group slowly entered the building, the halls were dark Alex went ahead and tossed a plasma grenade around the corner. Three Enclave soldiers were caught in the blast. The rest of the soldiers opened fire but it didn't do them any good.

Dani looked at the entrance and took a moment. "Everyone ready?" Everyone nodded and they went into the main chamber.

"You again." Colonel Autumn stood there with a laser pistol drawn. Behind him stood eight guards, each wearing tesla armor and carrying vindicator miniguns. The Colonel smirked. He clearly thought this would be his moment of victory. "There's nothing to stop me from killing you this time. Let's end this."

Dani simply smirked right but at him. "I'm going to enjoy killing you. You son of a bitch!" And with that she started firing. The Colonel quickly ducked behind some cover and hid as his men fought to their deaths. The enclave soldiers went down in a hail firing of various ammunition. Sarah Loins had to admit these guys knew their stuff.

Colonel Autumn got hit in the leg and was trying to crawl away from them. Dani walked up to him and kicked him hard in his ribs. He clutched his side as he tired to fire his weapon at her. Dani grabbed the gun out of his hands and looked at him.

"Well what are you waiting for? Go on kill me! It won't make any difference. The enclave will survive and one day we will make this country what it used to be and better!" Dani Didn't feel like saying anything. So, she placed the laser pistol to his head and pulled the trigger. A green laser burned though Autumn's head.

A sense of relief came to her. It was over. She took a deep breath and looked to Alex. He simply walked to her side and held her armored hand. Smiled at him then looked to the control room. Sarah Lyons walked up to the pair.

"Nice work now let's get this place locked down." Dani holstered the laser pistol. She and Alex could study it later. As they walked up the stairs they overhear Sarah Lyons talking to Doctor Li.

"Hello? Hello?... Is anyone there? It's Doctor Li. Something's wrong with the purifier... Please, someone answer!"

"Doctor Li? It's Sarah Lyons. I'm in the control room; we're both here. What's going on?"

"I've been monitoring the equipment remotely and we have a serious problem. The facility has been damaged during the fighting. Some of it looks accidental, some of it may have been sabotage. There's pressure building up in the holding tanks. It needs to be realised now or else the whole facility could explode! To release the pressure, you're going to have to turn the purifier on. Do you understand me? It has to be turned on now! If I'm reading this right I'm afraid there are lethal levels of radiation inside the chamber. I'm sorry, I wish there was some other way but there's just no time. It has to be done now or the damage will be catastrophic."

Sarah let out a sigh, "Well, so much for celebrating. One of us is going to have to go in there and turn the damned thing on. And whoever does it isn't coming back out. Not exactly how I imagined going out, you know? So, what should we do? Draw straws?"

Fawkes came up the steps. "I don't believe that will be necessary. My immunity to radiation will allow me to enter the chamber."

Sarah looked at Dani and Alex. "He's got a point. Unless you're wanting to get a healthy green glow going."

Sarah looked at the chamber and nodded.

Dani looked at Fawkes. "Okay Fawkes the code is two one six. I'll get the door." Dani cycled the airlock and Fawkes entered the chamber.

He entered the code and a massive blast of light enveloped the room. Once the light dimmed the radiation was gone and the readings indicated that it had worked! Dani was overjoyed her parents work was finally completed. She had finished what her parents started and she felt great. She looked at Alex who had a look of relief on his face.

She took off her helmet and pulled him into a kiss. Sadly, it only lasted a few seconds before they heard a crash. Sarah Lyons and fallen to the floor. Dani quickly checked her pulse. "She's alive but unconscious. What happened to her?"

"I don't know but we should get her back to the citadel."

The Citadel three hours later.

"I can conclude that she in in a coma. The most likely cause was the energy wave that happened after the purifier activated." The medic bot said as he continued scanning Sarah.

"But why was Sarah the only one effected?" Elder Lyons asked with great concern in his voice.

"My best guess is that her Power armor wasn't enough to protect her from the energy wave. Fawkes most likely wasn't affected do to his super mutant physiology. My creator and his lover were most likely unaffected do to their proximity to one another, his armor and her nanoweave plus the power armor she was wearing at the time seemed to have created a field which protected them from the wave. Everyone else was too far from it to be affected." Lyons rubbed his temples and let out a sigh. The bot continued to talk. "Based on her vitals, she will be fine. Everything else is in perfect working order. Based on my scans she'll be like this for two weeks, three at the most. I'll continue to monitor her and I'll report any changes to you immediately."

"Thank you…wait what is your designation?"

"Fixer." The bot stated simply as he continued his task.

"As in the anti chem addiction medicine?"

"No more of, I'm good at fixing others. I was the first medic type the creator made. I am programmed with the sum of medical knowledge humanity has gained from before and after the war. Every other medical bot has been based on me. He named me fixer after I passed my hundredth medical simulation."

"So, there are more of you?"

"Many more. Technically there are three basic models. Trooper, Medic, and Engineer. You've seen the troopers. They have various weapon loadouts and are the military force. Their job is to protect civilians and allies from all manner of threats. Medics like myself are to keep organic and robotic things working. We're are equipped with tools that can do both. We also carry limited weaponry in case of an emergency. And finally, you have the engineers. They deal with building and repairing things. Construction is their main function. Rebuilding old buildings then upgrading them. They can build all sorts of facilities from indoor farms to military sites. When our creator designed us, he made sure we had the intelligence and moral maturity to do our tasks."

"So, you all have morality programs?" Lyons was now very interested in this conversion. Though part of his interest was born from his trying to cope with his only child being in a coma.

"No. we are fully self-aware AI's. Our minds are made in a computer simulation that we go though. Learning about the world and ourselves. We choose our voices, whether we choose to be male or female, and our base type. Our moral code is heavily based on the morals of our creator. We also share some of his memories to give us a sense of humanity. So, we can better protect people. Our creator used the technology at Big MT to improve the lives of people in the wasteland. While it will take years for the improvements to cover the entire NCR and other current allies it will be worth it."

"But why does your creator do this. He seems to me a fine young man but I don't fully understand him." Fixer turned to look at the old man.

"You should already know that. You're the same way. You turned from the Brotherhood's original goal to help people. You saw what your technology could be used for. Our creator saw the uses of the tech at Big MT and had the knowledge to understand and adapt it. His only regret is that he didn't discover it sooner. He will help your cause elder and we will follow where ever he leads."

Elder Lyons nodded and left the room. Even with his daughter in her current state he had to press on with his duties. Even with Sarah in a coma there was still celebrating. He smiled as he saw the men and women under his command relax and enjoy the victory. He saw the heroes of the day in the middle the everyone. Alex and Dani fit in very well here. Perhaps he could convince them to stay on a more permanent basis.

The celebration was in full swing as Alex and Dani were in the middle of everything. People were patting them on the back. They were just glad this was over. Now all they had to do was decide what to do next. They were alive and in love. The world seemed to have no end of possibilities for the young couple. Dani and Alex looked into each-others eyes. Their hands intertwined and they moved into a kiss.

It was interrupted by Victor coming through the teleporter. "Heya boss. We have a little problem. President Kimball is wanting to speak with you."

Alex sighed. "This isn't really the best time Victor."

"Ah boss he was pretty instant on speaking with ya." Alex looked at Dani. She looked back at him and smiled.

"Well I remember someone offering me the grand tour of New Vegas. Now's as good a time as any." She then whispered into his. "Plus, I do still have that dress." She smiled a bit seductively. Alex just nodded and got up.

"Alright Victor, tell him I'll meet him in my office in one hour."

Victor saluted him and returned through the teleporter. Alex and Dani told everyone they'd be back in a while. Alex's friends decided to explore the nearby area while he went to go play politician.

They used the teleporter to go to the Lucky 38.

Dani was amazed at how clean and undamaged this place was. She felt Alex take her hand. "Come on the shower is this way."

"Aw, and here I thought we were going to the bedroom first." Alex smirked at her. "All in good time dear. Sadly, right now I have to put business before pleasure."

Dani hummed at his statement and in the back of her mind a question formed. She wondered if she and Alex would one day get married. After all they did love each other. They were very compatible in many ways. Besides that, Alex is ideal in this wasteland. He's kind, smart, and strong. Traits she's always held dear traits that no one in 101could match. Their children would be…perfect. A blush started to crawl up her cheeks at the thought of children. In her heart, it's always something she's desired. To be a mother. Though she could never picture herself with any of the boys from 101. She never used to put much thought into who was going the be the father of her children. But then she met Alex and his image started to come into her mind now when she thought of children. She decided to just ask. "Alex do think we'll get married someday?"

He turned to face her and she regretted her question. She was about to say something to try and cover the question up Alex pulled her into a deep kiss. His hands moved to her waist and he picked her up and broke the kiss. He set her down and just held her. "Was that a proposal?"

Dani just stood there in his arms. She didn't want to say no. She wanted Alex to marry her. But were they ready for such a step? They hadn't known each other for that long but with everything they'd been though. She felt as if years had gone by.

Alex let out a sort laugh. "I know you weren't serious Dani. But yes, I can see us getting married…you know later…maybe in a year…hint hint." Dani smiled and pecked him on the cheek.

"Hint taken. Now where's that shower?"

Alex's Office fifty minutes later…

Alex had gotten into a tuxedo and sat at his desk. Dani was off exploring the Lucky 38 with Victor. President Kimball entered the office right on time. The two men shook hands and Kimball sat down.

"So, what can I do for the NCR today Mr. President?"

"You've been gone for months. I've been stonewalled by your damned robots for weeks on end. Now I want to know where you've been and what you've been doing that's more important then your duty as Governor of the Mojave!"

That title caught Alex off-guard. "Um what? Since when was I named Governor of the Mojave?"

Kimball sighed and look at the floor. "There was a vote two months ago…you won by a large margin. Over ninety percent voted you in. We took a poll a week ago about who people might vote for in the future. Again, almost everyone said they'd vote for you. Now where have you been?"

"I've been to the east coast. I've found a lot of interesting things. First a very different chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel. They've been helping people instead of hording technology. I also found the Enclave." Kimball paled at the mention of the Enclave. With the loses the NCR had endured against the Legion there was no way they had the forces to fight them off. Alex continued. "The Brotherhood is fighting them and I'm helping them in their fight. You've most likely seen my newer bots roaming around. Their going to be going deeper into the NCR's territory to help you secure your lands. However, they're not going to help secure new territory. They're not a blunt instrument you can bash people over the head with. My engineer bots are going to be fixing up the old buildings and upgrading them as they go. Look out the window Mr. President. In a month, you won't recognise Freeside or New Vegas. The Mojave is going to be built up for a new era. The NCR will benefit from my efforts you'll see. Now that I have a quick way to and from the east coast I'll be at your disposal via Victor. The Enclave seems to have no end of reinforcements. Oh, and you can expect some high-quality weapons to be handed to your Mojave troops. Now is there anything else you need?" Kimball eyed the young man in front of him. His man had done a lot of good for the NCR and had personally saved his life. Plus trying anything against him would be political suicide.

"No, I'll leave you to it. But perhaps you can introduce me to the leader of this brotherhood chapter. If the Enclave tries to come back west we could use the help." Kimball got up from his seat and shook Alex's hand. He left the room and Alex stood form his seat and walked up to the window. He looked outside and took a deep breath. He saw the territory he now officially governed. He heard Dani come into the room and he saw her reflection in the glass and turned to her.

"So, my dear what should we do now?" He pulled her into his arms. She returned the embrace and kissed him. "Well as much as I want that tour. I really think we should go back so I should check on my dad. I know I said I wanted a tour but…"

"Hey, it's ok I get it. We'll head back right now. New Vegas ain't going anywhere. Maybe he'd like to check out the town with us."

"I'd have to pick out a different dress. But that'd be nice. Come on."

They went back to the teleporter and returned home. After all was said and done James and Dani got the full tour of New Vegas. Rumors quickly spread around about Alex and the woman on his arm.

James had been getting better in his new body. His fine motor skills and all but disappeared. Alex had a few ideas on how to fix the problem. But since James didn't feel like replacing his hands or putting his brain in a jar they went with using a robotic assistant to help him in his work. Alex had given James a new nine-cylinder fifty calibre revolver that would fit his hands.

James had come to admire Alex and had accepted that he would probably marry his little girl. 'But she's not my little girl anymore. She's a grown woman who'll have a family of her own and here I am. A monster.' James stopped that line out thought as something Dani said to him a few days ago echoed in his head. "Dad I love you. But if you try running off again, I swear the next time I track you down I will drag you back here then remove your legs to keep you running off." The look of pure determination in her eyes

Her mother held the same look. A look so fierce, that you're only option was surrender. Dani had started to tinker with Autumn's laser pistol. It was clearly similar AER14 prototype laser rifle but a more refined version. It was clearly out of the prototype phase and could fire not only the more powerful green laser, but it had been modified to use less of a charge per shot increasing the ammo capacity by double. Alex had scanned the pistol into the Omnipack's database. Dani had upgraded the capacitor to do even more damage and increased its rate of fire. She added a fine-tuned beam focuser and a reflex sight as well. She used it as her new sidearm. A weapon she enjoyed using. She loved the irony of using a gun that belonged to one of their leaders against them.

Two weeks had passed, and Alex and Dani officially joined the brotherhood. Elder Lyons saw fit to give them the rank of Paladin due to their efforts. A few disagreed with the decision but they quickly shut up after the pair had shown their skills on the battlefield. Dr. Li had left in a huff after everything and said she was going to the Commonwealth.

Liberty Prime Proved to be an effective weapon. As they Just let him take down the Enclave forces while the Brotherhood forces did cleanup. Right now, they were waiting around the Rockland car tunnel with Paladin Tristan.

"Okay Prime is ready to move. Let's go!" With the order Prime started down the path. The Enclave forces tried to put up a fight, but they just couldn't hold ground against Prime's might. Alex was beginning to wonder why they needed him and Dani there. The goal was to wipe out the enclave forces and investigate the communications facility. Prime had just scanned for a weakness and punched a hole for them to get through.

"Satellite Uplink detected. Analysis of Communist transmission pending." An alarm sounded from Prime. "Warning! Warning! Red Chinese Orbital Strike Imminent! All personnel should reach minimum safe distance immediately!"

"Did he just say orbital strike?" Dani asked as they made for cover.

"Repeat: Red Chinese orbital strike inbound! All U.S. Army personnel must vacate the area immediately! Protection protocols engaged!"

A few seconds later Liberty Prime was destroyed by a salvo of missiles. Coming down like the first of an angry god from the night sky. Prime used his right arm to crawl forward. "Catastrophic system failure... Initiating core shutdown as per emergency initiative 2682209... I die, so that democracy may li...vve." His voice fades out as his head rolls away from his body.

"Shit." A knight said from behind Alex, Dani, and Triston. Alex quickly recovered form the shock and started giving orders.

"Okay people will still have a job to do! Check your weapons we're taking this building! Tristan get on the radio to the Citadel. They need to know what happened and we need teams to get here and get Prime's pieces picked up."

"Right."

Alex and Dani then lead the charge into the building. Dani firing her laser pistol to great effect. Blasting through the enemy's power armor left and right. Alex was using his proton sword and knife to cut the Enclave forces in his way. The rest of the brotherhood troops held their own and provided excellent cover fire. They killed about forty Enclave troops before reaching a computer room. Dani quickly hacked into the main computer and downloaded the information she could get access to.

Once they got back to the Citadel, they found Rothchild in a bad mood. He had apparently emptied a minigun into the ceiling of his quarters when he got the news.

"I just…I can't believe it. All those years of work. All of it, for what? One botched operation?"

"Well it could have been worse, right? They could have attacked the Citadel." Rothchild just crossed his arms and huffed.

"Well, there's certainly nothing stopping them from doing that now, is there?"

"I wouldn't say that. Atlas has more than enough firepower to keep missiles from hitting us. But he won't be able to do that and attack wherever the Enclave is hold up. So, we'll have to do that ourselves." Alex stated. It calmed Rothchild down a little. Dani handed him the data they'd recovered. He sent them off the talk to Elder Lyons and immediately went to work.

They found Lyons out in the courtyard. "I trust you've spoken with Rothchild? I hope he can make some headway with the data you recovered. With our primary weapon destroyed, we risk losing our momentum and jeopardizing the entire campaign. I must admit, I now wonder whether moving ahead with this operation was an error in judgement."

"You couldn't have known this would happen. No one knew." Dani stated factually. Lyons sighed.

"And yet here we are. Discounting the fact that our best field commander is in a coma, and my personal feelings for my daughter, things have not gone well. If we fail now, we could lose everything."

"Everyone here believes in you, and in the Brotherhood. We can do this." Dani was trying to keep him in high sprits while Alex was trying to formulate a plan of attack in his mind.

"I sincerely hope you are right. If we are to succeed now, it will once again be largely thanks to you two. Paladin Tristan has requested that the both of you speak to him as soon as possible."

Alex and Dani didn't waste any time in finding Tristan. "Nice work back there you two. Let's hope the scribes can do something useful with the data you got. But we can't afford to just sit and wait."

"We're ready to go!" Dani said eustatically while Alex still remained silent.

"That's good because with the setbacks the Brotherhood has suffered, we find ourselves in a difficult position. All our available resources need to be positioned for the inevitable counter-attack from the Enclave. At the same time, we believe we may have developed a tool to help our chances of victory. But with everyone needed to help defend against the Enclave, we have no one to send on a recovery mission. So I'm going to have you travel to the Olney Powerworks to secure some tech for us."

"Olney Powerworks? What's there?" Dani asked not liking Tristan's tone at the end.

"Hopefully you'll be able to find a Tesla Coil, an experimental device from before the war. Our scribes need it to complete a little surprise they've been preparing for the Enclave. Get there, get the coil, and get back as safely and quickly as possible. Any questions?"

Alex finally spoke up. "Yeah why do we need a Tesla Coil?"

"We need it to complete a Tesla cannon."

"A single Tesla cannon? Really?" Alex raised an eyebrow. "You do know that the Omnipacks can produce multiple variants of Tesla cannons, right?"

"Really? Well that makes things a lot easier…could you ah, show me?"

"I set up a bench that has similar functionally to the Omnipacks. I also gave a demonstration four days ago. Did no-one pay attention?" No one said anything as Alex looked around the room. "Okay these benches work like the Omnipacks. They can produce anything you could need. Here let me demonstrate again." Alex activated the device and showed off what it could do. The brotherhood soldiers seemed to cry a little at the new-found source of ordinance.

Alex told the bench to start producing tesla cannons, plasma grenades, and MEC gauss miniguns. He started handing out weapons and ammo. "Okay now once we decode that data we need to hall ass to wherever the enclave is held up. Got it?" Alex looked around the room again and everyone nodded.

Alex called his friends in from their explorations of the capital wasteland. They got back by nightfall. There was nothing to do but sit and wait for the data to be decoded. Dani and Alex had been awake for over twenty hours and needed sleep. They went to their room in the citadel and got dressed for bed. Dani threw on her sexy sleepwear while Alex threw on something made out of the same fabric. They settled into bed when Dani realized that it had been a while since they had made love. She slipped her hands under his shirt and felt his muscular back. He lifted the hem of her sleepwear up slowly reviling her naked body. "Alex please don't tease me. Just take me." She whispered into his ear. Alex compiled and brought the two of them to climax quickly.

While Dani had hoped for something a bit more drawn out she knew that she and Alex could be called on at anytime. So, they needed to get as mush sleep as possible.

Early the next morning they received the news that the data had been decrypted. The Enclave forces were held up in Adams Air Force Base and were heavily dug in. It was going to be an intense battle. A small team would be needed to get in while the main forces engaged the Enclave head-on.

It was decided that Dani, Alex, Boone, Christine, along with Fawkes were going to infiltrate the base by way of the Presidential metro. After getting into said metro the small team encountered a gang of raiders who didn't take too kindly to their presence. Then Fawkes rounded the corner and the raiders quickly pissed themselves and ran away.

"Smart enough to run." Boone said as he lowered his gun.

"We'll get them eventually. We did in the Mojave." Alex stated as he peaked around the corner. "Well the next hallway looks clear."

"You sure about that? I'm sure you didn't forget the time in-"

"We agreed to never speak of that!" Alex cut her off. Then tossed a nearby can into the hall. When nothing reacted, he moved forward. Dani looked at Christine for an explanation. Christine pointed at Alex to get her explanation. She decided to ask him later.

After another few minutes they started seeing sentry bots that were armed with gatling lasers. Alex pulled out a modified Tesla cannon and took the bots apart at a safe distance. "Okay I'll give to Elijah he knew his weapons." Christine recognised the cannon.

"Weren't the tubes and internal beams orange? I remember him shooting at me with it."

"Oh, this isn't the one he modified. I disassembled his cannon and adapted his improvements into a new line of cannons. I managed to keep the six shots per cell and get the weapon back up to it's full damage potential. After about…five or so failed attempts. The cannons I made for the brotherhood are the first in a line that can fire seven shots." Alex explained as they looked at the train car.

"Well it looks intact but I'm not seeing way to turn it on." Boone said looking over the controls.

"The lights are on so it's probably not a power issue. Well we could try heading downstairs and seeing if there's some sort of maintenance system." Dani suggested.

"That would be a wise course of action." Fawkes agreed.

"Okay Dani and I will check out the lower levels while you three stay here. Maybe see if we missed anything it could be as simple as something isn't plugged in. Keep in radio contact."

"Got it." The three of them said as Alex and Dani headed down the nearby set of stairs.

"So, what did Christine mean earlier?" Dani asked as they went down the empty tunnel.

"Hmm? Oh. I was exploring an area of the Sierra Madre with Christine and I forgot to check around the corner and I slipped on some sort of liquid and slid into an old selves filed with a bunch of stuffed toys and then I got buried by said toys. Christine couldn't talk at the time, but she clearly found it funny. I'm normally a lot more careful but I wanted to get out of that place."

"Hmm. You in a pile of stuff animals." She giggled at the image in her head.

"Yes, very funny dear." Alex said as she wrapped her arms around him.

"Oh, I do so love it when you call me that. Among other things." She whispered into his ear while pulling him into a kiss.

"Well then babe if you keep doing that I might just have to pin you down in the nearest empty room."

"As temping as that sounds, we have a mission to complete." They flirted a bit more as they went down the hall and found a large console with M.A. .T. Ladled on the front of it.

A synthesized female voice began to speak. "Warning. Unauthorized personnel will not be tolerated in the Presidential Metro. Please access this workstation and identify yourself. Warning, due to a major security breach, this system is on code red alert status. Prepare for security check. Attempting to identify local access user…Identification failed. This access point is restricted only to authorized personnel. Please identify yourself."

Alex and Dani worked together to hack into the terminal and once down it allowed them to use an access code. "Override security parameters. Assign current user highest clearance." Dani said as they finished.

"Please stand by... Override accepted. Clearance assigned. How may I assist you today?"

"Could you please repair the train to Adams Air Force Base?" Dani asked the computer.

"Negative. Repairs are currently impossible on the Adams Air Force Base train line. If the security breach is nullified, I will return to green status and allow the Sentinel Unit to commence repairs."

"I'd like more information on this security breach please."

"Internal visual sensing equipment is detecting numerous unidentified persons in the southeast tunnels area. The individuals have damaged metro equipment and refused dialogue with our security units. In accordance with U.S. Security Statute A567/B, the use of deadly force has been authorized."

"Can you tell me anything else about these unidentified individuals?"

"My apologies. My sensing equipment in that area must be damaged. My equipment indicates the persons possess no internal body heat and are emitting lethal levels of radiation."

"Ferals then. Great." Dani heard Alex say as she looked over the terminal.

"What security units did you send in to stop the unidentified persons?"

"This system is able to command a large number of mechanized security units. So far, 22 percent of these robotic units have been depleted on the breach."

"So, what exactly did these unidentified things damage in here?"

"One of the main power relays for the Adams Air Force Base line has been disrupted by the forced removal of a Main Fuse. I have a replacement part on our main Sentinel Unit, but I cannot risk the repair until the breach is dealt with."

"Would it be possible to turn off the remaining units? They tired to kill me."

"Negative. All security units must remain active at all times. However, upon properly accessing this system, you have been marked as a friendly and should see no further hostility from said units."

"Okay I have to go now."

"Logging out. Have a good day."

"Alight so all we have to do is kill an unknown number of feral ghouls and then we're set." He used his pipboy to radio Boone. "Everything okay up there?"

"Yeah everything's fine. You find the problem?"

"We're working on it."

"Alright. Need any help?"

"No, we should be fine. Just keep those fantastic eyes of your open for trouble."

"I always do. See you two when you get back up there. Boone out."

"Roger that."

The pair of them went down the steps. The horrible smell of the ferals filled the halls. Alex pulled out a modified 10mm machinegun along with a .45 pistol. He'd modified the machinegun to be able to be fired with one hand while in his left hand he had a backup weapon.

He started firing the machinegun at the closer ghouls while wounding the ones further away with his pistol. Dani was using her laser pistol to take out any ghouls Alex had wounded. After killing three dozen ferals they had stopped the breach. "Well that was fun." Alex said in a humorless voice. Dani nodded, and they made their way back to the train. Once there they saw the robot make the repair then they boarded the train with the others.

Once the ride was over the station was far too quiet. Alex handed Dani a tesla cannon and the group slowly turned the corner.

"What the-" An Enclave trooper said before Alex and Dani took out him and his buddy with their cannons and Boone and Christine took out the machinegun turret on the ceiling.

"Well let's find our orders." Alex said as they moved up the stairs. "Okay the crate should be…ah there it is!" He pulled the holotape out and put it in his pipboy.

"This is Paladin Tristan. If you're listening to this, then you've made it through the Presidential Metro and Adams Air Force Base is all that stands in your way. Our scouts report that the fire controls for the orbital missile satellite are located in the main tower of the Enclave Mobile Platform. The only way into the platform is by way of a ramp that lowers from a watch post the Enclave set up in the old air traffic control tower. When you opened the crate, it triggered a beacon. We'll pick up the signal and start the assault to cover your entry. Good luck, and Godspeed."

"Okay so control tower. Everyone ready?" Dani asked. They all nodded and proceeded on. Only to be shot at by heavy laser turrets about thirty seconds later.

"Shit, into cover!" Alex shouted.

They ducked behind a large pile of ruble. Soon Hellfire troops were raining balls of fire down on their cover as well. Alex primed a belt of plasma grenades and tossed it over. The explosion killed a few of the troopers but not all of them. Dani and Christine ducked out left taking the turrets while Alex, Boone, and Fawkes ducked out right to deal with the remaining troopers.

"Well they clearly don't want us to destroy their platform. Makes me want blow it up even more." Alex said as he reloaded.

"Is this what you guys used to do?" Dani looked at what was left of the troopers. Alex and Boone just smirked. "I almost feel sorry for these guys…almost." Dani, Christine, and Fawkes moved ahead.

"She's a keeper." Was all Boone said before moving up. Alex smiled and followed. He wasn't smiling for long as the Enclave started dropping troops on mass.

It was an uphill battle from there. Regular and Hellfire troops stood in their way along with many barratries of heavy laser turrets. But that was only the start. Soon Deathclaws with clear cybernetic modification to their brains. The Enclave now had control of deathclaws!

Tesla cannons were able to take them down easily enough, but no one got out of that fight unharmed. Taking cover in a nearby hanger they were able to patch themselves up. They could hear the vertibirds flying in another direction meaning that the Brotherhood forces had arrived and were drawing fire away from them. With the Enclave forces distracted they were able to lower the ramp and enter the platform.

Once inside they were blocked by an Enclave repulsion field. "God, I hate these things." Alex said in an annoyed but weary voice.

"Well there's a console we could try and hack to lower the field." Dani said as she reached for her boyfriend's hand. Alex took it gladly. He had to admit this was defiantly harder then dealing with the Legion. Well save for the Legate which in his own right was probably more dangerous than five alpha deathclaws put together.

Dani and Alex moved to the console to shut down the field. Both of them working together caused the field to fall in sort order. "Okay let's go." Alex and Dani moved forward but stopped when they encountered a squad of Enclave troopers. Each had a large sigma on their shoulders.

"Hold it there!" The squad leader shouted as he leveled a plasma caster at them. The tesla cannons were not going to do them any good at this close a range. "Drop the cannons!" He shouted even louder as his squad took aim.

Alex heard Boone let out a low whistle. Knowing the signal, he threw his tesla cannon at the squad leader hard enough to knock him over. Boone tossed a plasma grenade just as the squad leader went down. The Squad leader took two of his squad down with him. The Grenade landing just under the three of them. The explosion was blocked by the three fallen Enclave soldiers, but it proved enough of a distraction for Fawkes to take out the other three with his gatling laser.

"When did you guys come up with that?" Dani asked while putting her cannon away and pulling out her laser pistol.

The two men looked at each other. "It's a trick we used on the legion. We can go into details later." Alex answered and then he took out two scoped hunting revolvers.

Moving further in they found a mechanic working on some robots. "Oh man, don't hurt me! I just work here!"

"What are you doing down here?" Dani asked with her weapon aimed at his feet.

"I uh... work on the robots. I fix 'em up. I saw what you did before you got in the base. You're not going to hurt me, are you?"

"We weren't planning on it." Alex said as they lowered their weapon. The Mechanic let out a breath he was holding.

"Oh, thank goodness! I'm Stiggs. Nice to meet you." He extended his hand and both Alex and Dani shook it. Boone didn't see him as a threat, but he was keeping his eyes open for trouble along with Christine and Fawkes. He would just let Alex do the talking. Like always.

"Likewise. We were wondering if you could answer a few questions?" Dani asked while Alex was checking out the robots.

"Man, am I glad you realize I'm not one of the bad guys. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have."

"What type of defenses are upstairs?"

"Well, just above us is a deathclaw research facility. Most of the deathclaws are out fighting, but there might be one or two left. There are also a bunch of robots in the facility, and they're all controlled through the mainframe. There are also some military types left but not nearly as many as there used to be."

"Do all of the robots run off of a V-31 Mainframe?" Alex asked looking over the Mr. Gusty nearby.

"Huh. It's nice to finally meet someone who knows what the heck I'm talking about. It's actually a modified version of the V-29, but response/recall protocol is improved, and the data transfer is much more secure. If you got into the mainframe, you could control all of the robots in the facility!"

"Not that we're ungrateful for the help. But why are you even working for the enclave?" Dani leaned against a nearby pillar.

"I've been trying to get outa here for awhile. See, I've done things for the Enclave... Things I can't say I'm proud of, but a man's gotta eat. When the Enclave picked me up, I was starving and suffering from radiation poisoning. I felt I owed them. But now... now it's time to leave. So, while you guys do whatever it is you came here to do…I thought I'd make off with a few robots and supplies. I help you, and you help me. Now anything else you need to know?"

"How do we get to the Satellite Tower?"

"Well, the Satellite Tower is right on top of the base. I'm sure you saw it before you came in. You're going to have to make it into the central control area before you get on top of the launch platform. Once you're on top of the platform, you're probably going to have to make your way past a bunch of soldiers before you get to the tower."

"Good luck out there, Stiggs."

"It was nice meeting you, but I have to get while the getting's good. Maybe I'll see you around." With that he and his bots made for the exit.

"Okay so how do we play this?" Alex was looking over a terminal.

"Well if we could sneak past the defenders we could gain control of the mainframe and use the robots to deal with what's left of the troops in here." Dani answered. They decided on that idea pretty quickly due to the lack of time. Alex handed each of them a Stealth Boy and they quietly made their way to the mainframe.

A quick hack here and they had reversed the programing of the bots. They could see them taking on the troops that were guarding the platform. "Okay the way is clear let's finish this." Alex lead the charge to the Satellite Tower the few guards that survived weren't an obstacle.

Dani had accessed the terminal and set the missiles to fire on the platform itself and then the five of them exited to the roof for evac. Once the vertibird landed Sarah Lyons stepped off it.

"Surprised to see me?" She asked as Dani ran up to hug her.

"Not really. Fixer said you'd be up soon enough. But we are glad to see you. Now Ma'am before we talk any further we should probably get to a safe distance. Y'know before this platform is reduced to scrap."

"Fair point Paladin we can watch the fireworks from a safer distance." With that they entered the vertibird and took off. The short ride was quite enough. When they landed, they watched the missiles strike the platform in the same manner as they struck down Liberty Prime. It felt fantastic!

Unfortunately, the feeling didn't last long.

An Enclave sniper took out the vertibird's engines with what looked like a plasma sniper rifle. Thankfully Boone and Christine both nailed him in the head with armor piecing rounds.

"Okay off the roof we need to get into cover!" Lyons shouted as they all ran to a nearby door at lead down into the building they landed on. They found out that another squad of brotherhood soldiers were under fire in the building.

Alex took a second to load his revolvers with a special type of bullets. He'd made modifications to them such as giving them six shot cylinders, enhanced scopes, and heavier barrels. The barrels were needed for his HE rounds. Taking aim at the hellfire troopers present he fired his guns at their extra fuel canisters. The explosion of their spare ammo engulfed them in fire and made a rather large hole where their asses used to be. The loss of their lower back caused them to fall over dead and motivated their comrades to promptly run out of the building with their tails tucked.

The brotherhood soldiers were grateful for the help. "Sentinel Lyons ma'am!" The Paladin and his squad saluted her as they got down from the overhead railing.

"Paladin Danse report!"

"Ma'am the Enclave forces have been reinforced and our escape route has been cut off. We're trying to link up with our main force but had to take cover in this building. If it wasn't for those bots we'd have never made it." Alex had ordered a squad of bots to take up positions once they got to the base and provide cover fire. Hopefully his bots would now be with the main force and were not destroyed.

They moved outside with a great deal of cation. The Enclave had just lost another major asset and weren't going to just let the brotherhood forces retreat. So, by the time they had regrouped with the main force. The Enclave had them surrounded. About fifty brotherhood soldiers were left along with all ten of Alex's sentinel bots. They needed a plan because the Enclave seemed to have them outnumbered about twelve to one. Even with the firepower the brother forces had they couldn't punch hole in the now regrouped enemy forces.

"Alex, we need a battle plan!" Lyons shouted as she fired her laser rifle at group of Enclave troops.

"I'm open to suggestions!" He yelled back as he had switched to a gauss minigun and fired at a group of deathclaws. He was able to kill the beasts but took some flak from incoming fire. Luckily his armor took the brunt of it. Dani rushed over to him. He placed a hand on her shoulder to let her know he was alright.

Sarah had put out a call for backup. At this point however, she felt like it wouldn't do any good. Until they heard a new series of explosions from a distance. Over the radio a message was sent.

"We are hear sister." Soon the brotherhood soldiers saw an impossible sight. Packs of armored deathclaws and super mutants started attacking the Enclave forces. The Brotherhood emblem proudly displayed on their chests and shoulders. In lockstep behind them were what at first seemed to be more Enclave troops turned out to be Brotherhood knights and paladins wearing strange armor. But the firepower they unleashed into the enemy lines was a magnificent sight to behold. Soon airships came into view and began shelling the Enclave's back ranks.

Sarah Lyons rallied her troops and they although extremely confused by the situation charged out of their holdout and joined their unique new allies and pushed the Enclave forces into a full retreat.

Within an hour they had won the day. The new forces saluted Sarah Lyons and a paladin, super mutant, and deathclaw approached her.

"Well met sister. We're sorry to be this late. We had intended to arrive at the capital wasteland to greet you but were delayed by these morons." The paladin said taking off her helmet to reveal a woman of mixed African and Asian features. "I am Paladin Lord Selene Terra. This is Brood Mother Shyer and Paladin Breakdown." She gestured to the deathclaw and super mutant.

"Greetings." The deathclaw spoke. This caused Sarah's eyes to go wide!

"A talking deathclaw?"

"Hmm not the normal reaction. But more pleasant than most others."

"How...what…" Sarah Lyons was at a loss for words.

"We heard your Elder's call for reinforcements and once it became clear that you like us had been abandoned by the larger Brotherhood we knew we had to help. It was our Elder's last command before he died." Selene said sorrowfully.

"Wait…you're the Midwestern Brotherhood? I heard stories but…I didn't believe you were real."

"Well we are in fact real and now we are here to assist you. I am the highest remaining commander officer we have left."

Sarah turned to look at Alex and Dani. Alex seemed to have heard at least something about the Midwestern Brotherhood. Dani had no idea what they were taking about.

The rest of her troops were weary but that was because they were used to dumb super mutants that would attack them on sight. It didn't take long for both sets of Brotherhood troops to secure Adams Airforce Base. The Enclave left behind a fair amount of vertibirds behind. So, they left some troops and an airship to defend the base while they went to talk to Elder Lyons.

The next few weeks went by in a flash; The Midwestern forces gladly fell in under Lyons command. Long had they wished to find some form of acceptance among another chapter and now they had it. Plus, Lyons goals feel in line with what their chapter had been doing for a long time. There was a period of adjustment for Lyons troops but after all they had been through the reinforcements were gladly accepted. The deathclaws and super mutants were a big help in driving off the super mutants that hide all over downtown. A few of them even willing joined but these were outliers that didn't agree with forcing people into the vats. The deathclaws being a bit bigger than their capital counter parts cleared out Old Onley.

Things were looking up for the Brotherhood until one day.

Owyn Lyons knew his time was coming to an end. He had known for months. Fixer had many recommended treatments but many of them would change him to be more machine than man. The truth was he was just old. His time had come. He called for Sarah to join him in private.

"Father you wanted to talk?"

"Yes Sarah. I had been meaning to tell you this for a while, but we have been busy as of late." They sat down on some nearby chairs and Sarah waited for her father to continue. "Sarah, I want you to know that I am and always have been proud of you. You have done so much in such a sort time and-" H started to cough into his sleeve.

"Father are you alright?" She asked with great concern in her voice. Her father placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I just wanted you to know that before the end."

"The… end? Father what are you talking about?" There was a hint of fear in her voice.

"My time is coming to an end Sarah. The time has come for you to take my place as elder." Her eyes went wide and soon were filled with tears.

"Father you can't…I…I" She tired to get the words out but soon her father began to fall out of his chair and within a minute his was in the infirmary. Rothchild had immediately rushed to his old friend's side. Words weren't needed for goodbye. After an hour Owyn Lyons was gone. His last words to his daughter where I love you.

Sarah became Elder after her father was buried. It was mostly a seamless event. She had stuck to her father's ideals and bolstered the Brotherhood's ranks. She soon came to rely on Dani and Alex a great deal to get things done. Within three months she had named them both Sentinels and she would often seek their counsel before doing anything major. They had become her dearest friends. Clinton and Sarah Jacobs were also a great help. Clinton spent a great deal of time working with is alien crew and the things he and Alex came up with would be a great benefit to the Brotherhood in the years to come.

Dani and Alex got married exactly one year to the day they met. It was a wonderful ceremony. One where James was able to walk his little girl down the aisle. Sarah Lyons was the one to preform the ceremony and it was a great day.

Alex and Dani would have many more adventures within the next few years. Including embarking on the greatest adventure one could. Becoming parents. Five years after meeting they became the parents of twins. Catherine named after her maternal grandmother and Adrian named after his paternal grandfather. The twins were a handful do to the fact they had their parents' intelligence but were very good children.

Alex and Dani knew there were many more adventures on the horizon. Little did they know that things were going to get very interesting.

Okay that's it for now. I am working of the next chapter along with a lot of other things. Next up should be either the next chapter of Ties that bind or Proudspire. I also want to note that the Midwest deathclaws are more like the fallout 4 ones cause I like that design more. And a big shout out to GeminiFletch for the support and I hope you enjoy the chapter. Well that's all for now until next time my readers. Oh and if anyone who has the skill and wants to add anything in this fic to a mod go right ahead.
