The straight to the west was calm, unlike the turmoil that raged within him. He stepped one foot in front of the other onto the gangplank to the ship that would take him back home. Home...he thought. He had no home anymore, just memories. He was a simple page to his older brother when his entire world came crashing down. Their parents had died years before, and he couldn't actually remember them. Ygraine, his sister, died in childbirth. Afterwards Tristan had packed his little brother up, sending him off with Tristan's own wife and children to the continent.
He heard about the events that took place following his departure and it saddened him. Tristan, intent on his revenge, had challenged the king. He failed, and afterwards Uther's anger was far from sated. He sent men to track down the Du Bois family.
His blood boiled, when he thought of them. The oldest was a boy, two years younger than himself.
They were supposed to be hiding, when the king's men came, but Tristan's wife wasn't the smartest woman. She rushed back into the house to retrieve a forgotten trinket. The children followed, despite her protests.
All five of Agravaine's nieces and nephews were slaughtered, because of the king.
When word came recently, of Uther's illness, Agravaine was ready. He heard of Morgana's claim to the throne, while he didn't support her, he felt it would be the perfect opportunity to strike.
"Papa!"
Agravaine turned and smiled at the small girl. He hated leaving his family. A comely wife, though he couldn't say he loved her...she was a good woman, and the blond girl-child who reminded him of her namesake. "I'll return, Igraine. I promise!"
She waved and blew a kiss to her father. Agravaine continued to ascend the brow, and set his sights for Camelot.
