Third Person, before time travel where we left off

Urahara regarded the white haired man silently contemplating on what to say. Ishida Ryuuken was a stoic man, who appeared to care for nothing but the quincy.

"Kurosaki Karin shows many signs of being a potential quincy." Urahara stated.

Ryuuken looked at the ex-shinigami captain, before picking up his tea cup and drinking the contents inside. "She is now a shinigami, I refuse to teach her." He said plainly.

"Her defense against hollows, before she became a shinigami was to infuse a soccer ball with Reishi and kick it at the hollows. It was very similar to a Quincy attack, and was learned by instinct. To let such talent to waste would be shameful," Urahara said.

"I don't pan on teaching anyone, not even Uryu." The white haired man said.

"There's a war coming Ishida, one of Masaki's dear children could get hurt, they may even die, wouldn't that be a shame." Ryuuken glanced through his glasses at the serious toned man.

"That's no concern of mine, It is not in my responsibility to take care of Shiba's children," He said.

"Are you certain you can stand by those words, if the worst happens?" Urahara said.

Ryuuken sighed in defeat, "If I come with you and see her training will you be satisfied?"

"Of-course, Of-course," Urahara said cheerily.

Ryuuken Ishida's pov

I inwardly groaned, why was I even here? I didn't care about the outcome of the Kurosaki fate. I didn't. Yet here I was, in this shady man's shop which I hadn't stepped into for twenty years. Not much had changed in the shop, except I saw a few more people here, I suspect they were workers. The stupid shady man led me to a whole in the floor and jumped down. I groaned, why did I ever do to know such a crazy, shady, eccentric man. This one of the reasons I hate shinigami, most of them are drop dead crazy.

Focusing some reishi into my feet I jumped down, waiting for a few seconds until my feet hit the ground. I looked around the deserted area. It was impressive, it was enormous and I momentarily wondered how they were able to hide it.

My eyes focused in on a girl in a black shikasho, she was shunpoing around the training room. She was pretty fast, but nowhere near the level of speed of me. She stopped and looked at the black cat.

"How was that Yoruichi, do I need to channel more Reiryoku into my feet?" 'Oh no' I inwardly thought. Masaki's children were insane, they were talking to cats as if they wee people. Although thinking back upon it, Masaki was a little bit eccentric herself.

"You're not doing it at full drive," the cat scolded, "Center your Reiryoku near your toes, and prepare for the next shunpo before your feet hit the ground." My eyes widened, the cat was talking. My breath hitched a bit, before I pushed up my glasses and composed myself. The girl looked toward me.

"Oh ya," she said, "You were standing there for a long time." She said she said pretty indifferently, her face had a bored look on it. "My name is Kurosaki Karin, can I help you with something?"

She had decent Reiatsu, and she didn't seem to be rude or annoying. She also seemed to follow instructions without complaint, she would be a good pupil.

"I'm just watching," I stated, she nodded and turned towards Urahara.

"Karin-chan can you show Ishida-san your Reishi filled soccer ball?" The blonde asked.

"What are you talking about Urahara-sensei?" the girl asked.

"You know, when you encounter hollows you kick a Reishi induced soccerball."

"I do?" she asked, my eye twitched, you mean she wasn't aware she was doing it. "I guess I did, when I think back on it." She backed up and drew her leg back as if to kick an imaginary ball, reishi gathered in a ball like figure and she kicked it. My eyes widened, that was purifying power. It seems she has more potential to be a quincy than her brother. Urahara looked at me with a smug face.

I sighed and pushed up my glasses, "Fine I'll teach her," I turned to the girl who was looking at me questioningly, "but you better listen to everything I say." She looked at me with determination and nodded, for a second it looked like I was looking into Masaki's eyes when she was stubborn about something. It looks like your kids inherited your resolve, Masaki.

Karin's pov

Ishida-sensei put a cross like charm on my wrist, and I looked at him wondering what it was.

"This will help you gather Reishi to materialize a bow," he said, "Unlike a shinigami's zanpakuto, a quincies power purifies completely, and instead of using solely our Reiatsu we borrow reishi from around us." I nodded in understanding. "Now try gathering Reishi into that bracelet."

I tried to do the same thing I did with the soccer ball and surprisingly a bow materialized. "Now pull the string back," I followed my white haired teachers instructions, I released the materialized arrow. It flew in a curve coming back at us and almost hitting Ishida-sensei who jumped out of the way.

"I've never in my years seen that happen...must be because of her father," I heard him mumble as he pushed his disarray glasses. I smiled cheekily while putting my hand up to rub my head awkwardly.

"Gomen-nasai Ishida-sensei," I chuckled nervously. The white haired man looked at me annoyingly, before huffing. I knew exactly what he was thinking...this was going to be a long day.

I heard an exasperated sigh next to me as another one of my arrows swerved off course, this time it exploded mid flight. Sweat rolled down from my head, using Reishi combined with my Reiryoku was taxing, and was different from using solely Reiryoku for kido.

"We'll start again tomorrow, we'll use an actual bow so you can learn to shoot decently without killing anyone. Show me better results tomorrow." Ryuuken said, frustration and disappointment leaked into his words, with that the white haired man stood up and left, leaving me alone in the basement.

My hand clenched into fists 'Kuso...If I'm like this, I'll never be able to help my brother.' Ichi-nii had always saved me, he didn't hesitate ever, and didn't care about the consequences as long as the ones he cared about were safe. He had saved me from the hollow from that one night, charging in with nothing but a chair, and again against the enormously strong hollow from the day of the anniversary of our mothers death. Even before he got powers, he was always saving Yuzu and I from bullies, and thugs. He saved us with comfort when we were sad, always knowing when to be there, even when I refused to cry and hid my emotions. He helped us when ever we needed it, from homework, to trivial things, to taxing things. He never complained about it, and would drop everything he was doing to help. I needed to get stronger.

Calm down, and think Karin I heard my zanpakuto say. I sat on the ground, hand on my head. How come I can shoot Reishi ball, but not an arrow, would it work if I tried with my feet? Unlatching the cross bracelet from my wrist I clipped it on to my ankle. I stood up and thought about what I did to kill hollows with a soccer ball. Reishi gathered at my feet shaping into a bow. I brought my foot latching it onto the bow and drew it back, I kicked with all my might and an arrow shot out and hit the mound I was aiming at, instantly vaporizing it. My face contorted with a grin, I still wanted to learn the way Ishida-sensei wanted to teach me but if all else fails at least I got this trick up my sleeve.
