CHAPTER ELEVEN

SHADOWS LONG ROAD

Outside the boundaries of the Terminus systems. Rogue Ops Station was in orbit.

A floating large facility within the compounds of a surrounding asteroid field.

Built into a cracked surface of what remained of a broken world. Lucy looked at her cracked helmet.

Holding it in her hands. Watching through the massive space glass in front of her.

Seeing various supply shuttles, Combat Shuttles flying by.

The moment seemed right, taking the opportunity. Lucy was feeling a slight thought. Lucy stood calm.

Relaxed with her new combat sentinel suit. Hardened plating on her shoulders and joints.

Shooting him down wasn't the issue. The issue was that word he used. Making her question herself.

"Killing Garrus a victory wasn't it" asked Ocilla

Ocilla was far behind her, standing with a large case like device on his right hand. Locked with omni tech.

His stance was strange, looking forward and still having a talk with Lucy.

"He called me by a different name, a name that meant something to him" she said

She looked back to him, wondering about something that troubled her. She stared at him.

Her right eye had a few scratches and markings of scars. Ocilla looked down at the ground.

"Names are meaningful others can be labels. Maybe he was trying to trick you" said Ocilla

"No, I don't think it was that at all" she said

Feeling the shift of something that might be amiss. Ocilla turned to her without worry.

Ocilla wasn't liking this at all. As if she knew something or was trying to understand.

Lucy slowly walked to him. Approaching with ease. She handed him the helmet. Holding onto it.

"Is there anything you would want me to know? Ocilla" she said

Her back was to him. She stared towards the locked doors of various rooms.

"I hold No secrets from you Ms. Shepard" said Ocilla

Lucy walked away from him. Heading forward to the lower bay taking the stairs.

"Understood" she said

Lucy hadn't heard at all from Venom from the last couple of days.

Over the comms, loudspeakers of a voice. The A.I. kind went throwing its voice constantly around.

"Lucy. Report back to Lab Ops" continued

Lucy headed down the next couple of floors. She heard the tone of the voice. Knowing it was Ocilla.

He must have felt something was out of place or not right at all. He wanted a better examination.

Lucy went down to the third floor. The medical floor, and research departments.

She went through the halls. Moving passed other doctors including nurses. She had angry face.

A mean looking one every time. Serious and strong, Lucy didn't investigate the glasses of windows.

"Ahhh! No please no!" yelled a patient

"Hold him down Nurse" said the Doctor

The rooms were with other patients. Some were with children asleep. She had memories of the rooms.

She was born and brought into this life from birth. She was trained by Venom himself. Ocilla was there.

For her and her condition, he studied and assured her a new life.

Arriving at the Main Hall called "B17". Lucy was kind of worried for just a second. She closed her eyes.

Looking away from the door. Her right hand was tingling a little. Feeling the bits of fear growing.

Gritting her teeth, she stopped it opened her eyes again staring with determination.

Panel glowed at her hand as it touched the glowing pad. Sliding mechanical doors went opening slowly.

"Opening doors" echoed the A.I. voice

Inside the medical room. Were 3 Nurses, along with 1 Doctor. But no Ocilla.

Instead at the middle of the room. Was a medical table with various tools and equipment.

The color of the room was solid white. At the table standing in a cool stance. His back to the table.

His suit fully armored like a Geth machine. His visor glowing with one eye. His visor had vital signs.

Lucy's eyes grew wide knowing this was her commander, Venom's very own Mentor. Looking up.

"Commander MADA" said Lucy

Commander MADA wasn't pleased or impressed. He stayed silent. His arms touched the table.

"Garrus isn't dead Lucy, explain why he isn't dead" said Commander MADA

Lucy looked up to him. Standing still like a solider in the Military.

"Shot him three times in the chest sir" said Lucy

Commander MADA's attention moved away from Lucy as the staff looked at him.

He gave the order a simple nod to them. They responded back to him with yes.

Lucy didn't fight them back or anything she knew what the protocol was.

Standing still she raised her arms. Away from the staff. They removed her armor. Piece by piece.

"Something troubles you what is it" asked Commander MADA

"I only had heard of you, never seen you til today" she said

Lucy didn't say another word til he responded to her. Commander MADA didn't like it.

He wanted the question that mattered more than an explanation of where he has been.

"Never mind that, what bothers you Lucy respond that question" said Commander MADA

Staff took pieces off her and backed away. Going to their own stations in the medical hall.

One after another machine hands came down from high above her head. Lowering around her.

Mech arms one was a scanner with an orange glow of light. Another arm was an injector.

"Sir, I was sure I had killed him. Maybe Miranda was able to prevent his death" said Lucy

Keeping Lucy up to date with her medicine and medications. Another checked her vitals.

The next one checked her muscle mass and health conditions.

"What bothers me is that he didn't try to kill me, he stopped once my helmet was damaged" said Lucy

Commander MADA sighed listening to this. Yet he had seen the videos and clips from Omega's security.

He understood what she was coming from. This was something important. Along with what she knows.

"You felt anything once he stopped? Anything that I must know now before you head out again?"

Lucy stared at him with an angry face reaction.

"No sir, I will kill him next time" said Lucy

Commander MADA stood up walking towards Lucy. He took his steps forward.

"Understand Lucy…You're here to commit and assure our Existence because of him" said C. MADA

"I understand sir" she said

"Otherwise I wouldn't have wasted my time with you at all. Don't fail me again" he continued

Lucy felt it coming from him. The expectations.

-I-

Running up the large hilltop. Garrus reached the top part of the valley. Breathing heavy.

He stopped for a little. Breathing and overlooking the small settlements. All scattered.

"My, my what a view…He was right I gotta admit it" said Garrus

Punches went left and right. Garrus studied and learned new hand to hand techniques.

Moved faster as Javik watched from afar. Studying on how Garrus fought. Much like before.

Strategic and alert on his surroundings. Not like how he arrived here a broken Turian.

Sara had gained info on the situation over the next few days. As Garrus was still away.

Having the intel, she gained from Miranda, she had left the planet Kronos. Heading elsewhere.

Rogue Ops were now on her tail as much as Garrus. They had made a name for themselves.

Garrus had spent a few days more in the home of Javik. Taking his time. The opportunity.

News reports of missing Operatives within the Alliance Military. Including a Primarch from Palaven.

Knowing he had to return to the fight.

The next morning, Javik was waiting for him. Outside.

Garrus understood the situation, he had to face her now. Now things were different for him.

Knowing the little details of how he was brought here. He didn't worry too much on that at all.

Miranda must have brought him knowing Javik. Garrus had gathered his things. Walking up to Javik.

Javik was staring at the Junker of a ship that Miranda had arrived with Garrus.

"How is this flyable?" asked Javik

Garrus had placed down his bag of clothing. Medi-gel and ammo he had gathered.

Javik didn't like the sight of the ship. It somewhat made him fear it.

"Actually, his name is Gemini" said Garrus

Garrus laughed aloud. Slowly lifting the bag. Walking to Javik facing him eye to eye.

"It has a name. What does it speak to?" asked Javik

Reaching out to Javik with a hand to him. Javik with crossed arms looks down.

"What's your plan?" asked Javik

Javik walks passed Garrus, heading up the open down ramp of the Gemini.

Garrus looked at Javik following his movements.

"Wait-You're not coming with me, are you?" asked Garrus

Javik looked at the inside of the ship. Wondering about what it would be like to leave once more.

Yet he gained a feeling about it. The sensation of an adventure. Javik looked back at Garrus.

"Yes, I am" said Javik

"Oh Wow…Umm. You sure? It could be a one-way trip for me" said Garrus

Javik looked at his home. The peace it had brought him. The time it took to build.

"What's the plan Garrus, I hate to be kept in the dark" said Javik

Javik turned around walking inside and taking a seat.

Garrus didn't move for a second. He looked at the ground. Thinking if this was wrong.

"Shadow Broker first, we have an old friend waiting for us" said Garrus
