Chapter 11: Devious friend Part 1
Aria's Bedroom
Spencer and Aria were both on the bed watching Melissa get pranked in Spencer's place for at least the millionth time. It was 4 pm and neither of them had anything better to do.
"It gets me every time! Oh my god, I know I should feel bad, but it's hysterical. I don't think she'd like that as much as we do," Spencer manages to say between two laughs.
Aria was as amused by the video as her friend "Hey, you're sure she won't find the video on the internet right?"
Spencer laughed very loudly to the possibility Aria had just stated "Melissa? There's no danger, for her the internet is a huge encyclopedia. For her youtube is just a video sharing website with scientific video conferences on how to time travel and amateur videos about their cats! She'll never discover the Spoby channel."
"Ok, you make a point." Aria gets back to watching, once again, her best friend's sister get humiliated in front of the whole world. Until an idea crossed her mind "Spence', what's planned for this week's video?"
Spencer pressed pause and looked at her friend, analyzing the ideas Tobias and her had brainstormed.
"This week is Commenting on comments, yeah, we saw Grace Helbig do it and thought we'd give it a try," Spencer got out of Aria's bed and headed to the door
"Where are you going again?" Her petite brown haired friend asks, sitting up on her bed.
"Just to the bathroom, I'll be back soon, hold on for me, you can do it Aria. You will get through this, don't be sad, I'll be back when I'm done I promise." Spencer answers, taking an overly dramatic voice.
"Again? It's been at least 5 times, just for this hour. You should get yourself checked out."
"I'm fine."
Aria opened her Word software and started typing some ideas. She was really excited to participate in the video. Spencer didn't know it yet, but they were about to pull an epic prank on The Tobes.
Once her friend was back from the bathroom. Aria started exposing her ideas.
"Get your camera Spence'. This week is your revenge. You are pregnant!"
That sentence caused Spencer to choke on her own saliva, she coughed several times.
"What? I'm not preggers! And even if I was, why would it be a revenge?" She asks confused,
" Camera! Hurry!" Aria ordered and Spencer executed her request. The Youtube star, pressed start on her camera very hesitantly. She placed the recording camera in front of them, made sure it was well focused, that the lighting was alright and that the mic was on.
"Hello Spobinos. You may not recognize this setting, and this particular thing besides me" She says, pointing at Aria whose smile appeared at that very moment.
"Hey!" She shouts very confident.
"So, this is Aria, one of my bestest friends. She's amazing so please be nice. She forced me to turn the camera on, apparently she has a very good idea to share with us!"
"Way to put the pressure on me, thanks! Well. My idea was to make everything we can to make Toby believe that this hot girl right here, is pregnant! I know, kinda extreme but it's all in good fun."
"Oh, uhm, that's an idea. But it's not good enough, if the prank is just to say I'm pregnant. We need something more spectacular."
"I know, don't worry. I have everything under control. We are going to drive to the pharmacy, get a pregnancy test, print a + in blue and open the device up to then tape our fake positive sign in it."
"Yeah, but I don't know if I can do it all alone, you know. I could like, die laughing seeing his face or something,"
"No worries, I got you. I will be spending the night in your house. Take your coat, but after that I need to go. I have a date with my manly man whose name we won't say, for obvious reasons."
Aria leaned back on her bed as Spencer turned off the camera.
"Aria, I'm still not so sure about this. What if Toby knows that we're lying right away?" Spencer says, slowly grabbing her coat.
"It'll be fine, Spence'. Trust me! We're Team Sparia, remember?!" Aria says, grabbing the camera, pushing Spencer out her bedroom door and down the stairs, and handing Spencer the camera when they reach the front door.
"Hey, short stuff! What's the rush?" Spencer asks, stopping in front of the door and turning to Aria.
"Ezra has reservations at that French Vegan restaurant. I can't be late! That would be horrible!" Aria said, squeaking for emphasis.
"Why are you so pushy today, Miss Montgomery?" Spencer asked, looking Aria dead in the eyes.
"Why are you being such a persistent Land Shark?" Aria asked, not thinking of the words that were coming out of her mouth. She truly wanted Spencer to hurry out the door, so that she could drive off to Ezra's.
"What? A Land Shark?" Spencer said, bursting out into laughter. Spencer turned and started to walk out the door. "You know that's something Hanna would say, right?" Spencer asked, still laughing as she climbed into her Black Honda Civic. Spencer placed her camera and Tripod on the back seat, and proceeded to drive off, buckling her seatbelt in the process. Spencer started to pull out of the driveway, and as she did she looked up to see Aria's little middle finger sticking up in the air towards her. "Are you flipping me off?!" Spencer asked, cackling as she rolled her car windows down. Aria rolled her eyes at Spencer and walked into the house, grabbing her car keys. She grabbed her purse and walked out the front door as Spencer drove away.
"Time for a nice lunch with my fiancee…" Aria mumbled to herself, locking the door. She scurried to the car and hopped into the front seat before getting a Text from Tobias Cavanaugh.
Tinkerbell: Need to talk to you. You owe me, BIG TIME… ~BigT
Reply: Can't Talk, off to lunch with Ezra! Sorry, I'll text you as soon as I can! ~Pooks
Aria's phone chimed again.
Tinkerbell: Aria, I seriously need your help! I can't think of anyone else to ask! Please help me… Pwease? *puppy dog eyes* ~BigT
Aria rolled her eyes at Toby's persistent pleads for help.
Reply: Can't talk right now! BYE! [Oh, P.S. Virtual Puppy Dog Eyes only work for 'Spencie'] ;) ~Pooks
Aria locked her iPhone and drove off to Ezra's apartment…. The same apartment that he had lived in since 2010…
Spencer at the Local Walgreens
Spencer walked into the Walgreens, her camera rolling for needed filler footage.
"All right Spobinos! We are off to buy a Pregnancy test! Now, there's a rule of three when you buy things like these." She says, placing the pregnancy test in a green basket.
"You pick three random items, and you go up to the register so that it isn't as awkward when you purchase it!" Spencer says, laughing at herself. "Just like when you're buying a dildo" She gasps, "Not that I ever did buy one. I never did, it wasn't me, I swear! I didn't do anything!" She looks around her, to check if anyone has heard her and then hides her face behind her hair. She walks over to the candy aisle and picks up a bag of Tropical Starbursts.
"Item number one." She says, showing her camera and placing it in the Forrest Green basket. "Now, to find a sky blue sharpie…" Spencer says, walking out of the isle. As Spencer walks up to the arts and crafts isle, she sees the manager walk past her. "Shit.." she mumbles to herself, placing her camera in her basket, and covering it with the Starbursts.
"Miss Hastings! It's nice to see you!" The manager says. "How have you been?" The voice is muffled due to the starbursts bag.
"Uhh.. Hey, Mr. Kahn, I thought you were an apothecary….." Spencer says, clearing her throat, looking at her basket quickly, and then looking up at the familiar face. "I've been pretty good, how have you been?" She asks, quickly getting the sharpie and dosing it in her basket.
"Please, Spencer. Call me Eric! I graduated the same year as your sister!" He chuckles, continuing with the conversation. "No, I quit the apothecary job, I started to see rainbows everywhere, uhm" He clears his throat, did he start doing the drugs he was supposed to sell? Spencer wondered "I've been better," he says, explaining why he's depressed, even though Spencer didn't ask why, "It's been hard you know, getting a new job. Working on a new schedule.."
She cut him off in the middle of his speech. "Listen, Eric. I have to go. I have more shopping to do. It was great talking to you though. Tell your brother Toby says 'Suck it'…" Spencer says, walking towards the Electronics section.
"Oh, well… Bye, Spencer…" Eric says, sulking towards his office. "Why doesn't anyone ever want to talk to me?" He asks himself as he sits down in his seat and spins around.
"Well, That was close!" Spencer says, taking her camera out of her bag. "Item number two…" She shows the sharpie to her camera and then tosses it back into her basket. "Now, item number three…" She says, taking a cheap waterproof camera off the rack and showing it to her camera. "Toby broke my last one…" Spencer says, rolling her eyes. "That, my friends, is a story for another time!"
Spencer walks up to the register, placing all of her items on the counter, and holding the camera that she's recording with. She looks up to see that her cashier is none other than Mike Montgomery, Aria's younger brother.
"Oh, hey Mike!" Spencer says, turning the camera to face him. "Didn't think I'd ever see you working here!"
"Yeah well my dad said that if I wanted a car, I'd have to pay for it. Can you believe that Aria got the car like that, with no work at all! Life is unfair, I'm sure even if she asked for purple puppies, my dad would find a way to get them for her! Isn't having a favorite child illegal or something like that? Can I get your mom to force him to buy me that car?"
Spencer laughed and started to take her credit card out of her wallet. She knew where he came from,
"I feel you Mike"
"Yeah right; Excuse me if I doubt that"
"Uh, Hello! Can you say: Melissa?" She replies obnoxiously
"That's illegal, right?"
"Not illegal at all, but I guess you could, but you'd still have to pay for the lawyer she is. I'm pretty sure it'd cost you the double of what a car would."
Toby's house
Toby got his vlogging camera out and started to film everything he was doing.
"Ok, guys, so my friend, Aria just rang the doorbell, come with me, we'll welcome her," He opens the door and smiles, he puts the camera on Aria.
"This better be worth it, I was heading to lunch with my boyfriend!" She storms in,
"You look pissed! I just need your help for a prank"
"Yeah, I can't do that…" He cuts her off, not even listening to what she had to say.
"We are going to pretend that I'm cheating on Spencer, with you"
"Woww! I know I don't look like it, but I want to live, you know. And there's a chance of Spencer killing me, and Veronica would just help her get away with it. Leave me out of your crazy plans please. Why don't you get Emily to do it?"
"She's gay! Please, please, please!" He begs kneeled in front of her
"Seriously Toby, I can't, I have a lot to do," She heads to the door and starts opening the door.
"Alright, I thought you'd be cool with it. I guess I just have to call Hanna. I'm sure she's a better prankster than you anyway," he had to try hurting her ego. If that made her stay, then it would have been worth it.
Aria stops right there and remembers the prank she was pulling with Spencer. Pranking the both of them at the same time would be pretty epic. She stopped her motion, a sly look on her face. That was the time to have some fun with the both of them. If she listened to herself, she would rub her hands together and let out a dark laugh just like witches do. She spun on her heels, making sure her sneaky plan is well hidden. With a straight face, she turns and speaks to Toby.
"Time to cancel on my fiance" she says, dialing Ezra's phone number, she gets out of the house. She also intended to call Spencer, to keep her away, preparing for her own prank.
"Yes! I knew you were the coolest of the group!" He replies, so happy that he had to contain himself, otherwise he would have jumped all over the place.
A few minutes later, Aria joins Toby in the living room, right after making sure that Spencer was too busy to come by.
"This is going to be so much fun!" He says, like a kid on christmas day.
"Ok, so, I want the guarantee that you'll take all the punches, kicks and knives Spencer might thrown in my direction,"
"It got less fun really fast. Ok, don't worry, we'll tell her it's a joke before she even reaches the gun she keeps in her purse"
"She keeps a gun in her purse?" She screams, wide eyed.
"I'm just kiddin' " he laughs "I'm on a row today, I don't know what's happening. I just want to troll people"
"Yeah, well I just don't want you to be surprised when I use you as a human shield, that's it"
Toby laughs but Aria could see that he was a bit worried. He feared Spencer's reaction and so did she.
"Should I throw some of my clothes on the floor?" Aria says
"That would make it very realistic but, what would you be wearing then? Did you bring other clothes?" He asks
"No, I didn't know I'd pretend to be the homewrecker!"
Toby's phone receives a new message.
"It's Spencer, she wants to know if I can come for dinner"
"Tell her you have to work late" She says
"I'm a carpenter, I don't need to work at night"
"I know. And she knows it too. She'll get suspicious and come over. Tell her to not come over it'll seem even weirder" She says, she was going to have so much fun!
"She says it's very important! She has to see me!"
Aria thought about it, if they pranked Toby first he would know that she was in on it, but at the same time he'd like to get back at Spencer so he wouldn't want to tell her about the prank they planned to play on her.
"Ok, say that you'll get someone to replace you and you'll be there," she says, "Now I need to call back my boyfriend, you made me cancel for nothing" She said, getting better at lying to people's faces.
Aria called Spencer and went to help her prepare for everything. Spencer had to prepare a credible act, and Aria would be there for best friend's support.
Spencer ordered pizza, yes, if she really were pregnant, she wouldn't have the patience to cook anything.
Toby knocks at the door, she opens it with a slight smile, trying to still look preoccupied.
"Hey, what did you want talk about?" He says, going straight to the point, he kissed her forehead and looked at her face.
"Talk Spencer, you're scaring me" he says, pulling her a chair.
"I think you could actually use it more than me. Sit down, we really need to talk"
Toby sits on his chair and looks at Spencer, this was not going to be pretty!
