muie5: Now it is time for more Marvel movies!
Miroku: I am not one for much work, but you should really do this chapter before anything.
muie5: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know Loki gets too distracting for everyone.
I do now own Yu Yu Hakusho or Inuyasha. But I do own Shine.
Chapter 11: Stage Two Set
"So this is the lard you came to see, Kurama?" Yusuke inquired, standing next to his friend so that only those in their group could hear.
"Yes," Kurama answered, also in a low tone.
"Looks human to me," Kuwabara unwittingly spoke up.
"Do not compare me to such weaklings as humans," Sesshomaru calmly stated in his steely voice as he walked up to the Spirit Detective group.
Rin followed her lord, skipping and humming.
"If humans are so weak, why do you surround yourself with so many?" Kagome spoke up, now that the group was talking loud enough to hear.
"That is none of your concern," Sesshomaru stated as he stopped by the group.
"Trying to..."
"Naraku is near by," Inuyasha broke in, cutting Miroku off mid-sentence.
Sesshomaru turned his attention to the castle, and before the others could even get to their feet he was gone. Hiei and Kurama were on his heels as the others got to their feet and followed.
Sesshomaru went straight for the weapon room in the far back of the castle, wear he caught her sent before he originally left the castle. As he made the last turn before getting to the room, Kurama grabbed Hiei's arm to stop him. The others continued on after Sesshomaru.
"He is just going to disappear with her once more. We have to cut him off while the others deal with him there," Kurama explained as he and Hiei made their way back to the front entrance.
"It appears you are taking this rather personal, Kurama," Hiei jested.
Kurama did not responded to his friend as they stopped in the back courtyard of the castle.
The others exploded through the large doors that lead into the weapon room. There I was kneeling by the far wall with Naraku to the right of me. His hand was placed on my shoulder as he loomed over my form. Sesshomaru gripped his Tokijin as a low, almost silent, rumble escape his tightly clenched mouth. Naraku lifted his head so that he was now looking straight at the large group in front of us.
"I see we have company. Let us go now," Naraku cooed in his normal taunting fashion.
"Yes, Master Naraku," I responded as I stumbled to my feet.
Sesshomaru wasted no time as he rushed Naraku, sword drawn. As his sword made contact, both Naraku and I vanished in a cloud of miasma.
Back outside Kurama and Hiei were vigilantly searched their surroundings. Suddenly, Kurama pointed up to a black/purple cloud that appeared in the sky above them. Hiei gave a nod of acknowledgement as he slowly pulled out his katana.
"Rosewhip!" Kurama called out, transforming the rose he now held in his hand.
"Sneaky fox," Naraku grumbled to himself.
Another slash came at him, but Naraku moved just in time to dodge.
"Hiei, I have a plan," Kurama assured his friend.
Hiei disappeared as his friend attacked one more time.
"Your friend abandoned you. Even he knows it is futile," Naraku snickered.
"Now!" Kurama yelled.
Hiei ran at Kurama from the outskirts of forest. Kurama intertwined his fingers out in front of him as Hiei got his foot into position. Kurama thrust his friend into the air and at Naraku.
Hiei unsheathed his katana once more as he sailed through the air at Naraku. In one swift motion, Hiei's sword went straight through Naraku's heart without a problem. As soon as it did, the clouded vanished, and I started to plummet to the earth.
Before I could regain any awareness of what was happening, I was safe in Sesshomaru's arms and on the ground. Sesshomaru was searching the sky as I opened my eyes.
" Sesshomaru? You saved me," I gasped out in all the confusion of my mind.
He placed me on my feet as everyone caught up to us.
"Are you unharmed, Shine?" Kurama inquired, his rosewhip now gone.
"Yes. At least I think so. Is he dead?" I asked in a jumble of words and thoughts.
"I doubt it. Most likely it was just demon puppet," Inuyasha informed the one who were not aware of Naraku's tricks.
"That monster. He was the one..." I was cut off my Rin dashing up to me, concern all over her face.
"Lady Shine, are you alright?"
"Yes, Rin. Let us go back to the castle," I held out my hand to her.
Rin grabbed onto my hand as if I would disappear if she did not hold on with all she had. I led her through the crowd and back towards the castle.
"If we stay here, there is more of a chance that we will find Naraku," Miroku exclaimed to his small group.
"Yeah. When he returns for the girl, we will be ready for him," Inuyasha agreed a little cold heartedly.
Sesshomaru ignored all of their chatter inorder to follow Rin and I into the castle. The spirit group was close behind him, leaving the Inuyasha behind.
The rest of the day passed with Rin, Shippo, Kirara, and I playing in the field out front. Kurama, Yusuke, Kuwabara talked as Hiei sat in silence. Every so often Hiei and Yusuke; Kuwabara and Hiei; or Yusuke and Kuwabara broke into a fight. Inuyasha sat with Kagome, Miroku, and Sango.
Sesshomaru just stood in the far corner with his eyes closed but all of his muscles tensed.
Shippo ran over to Kagome and jumped into her lap, "Kagome, I'm hungry."
"Oh. I guess breakfast was interrupted wasn't it. I'll fix something," I apologized as I headed into the castle with Rin on my tail.
-Two Hours Later-
I walked into the main entrance hall only to find Kuwabara chacing Yusuke around. Hiei was leaning up against a wall watching the two as Kurama did the same. Inuyasha was chacing Sango and Miroku around with Kagome trying to stop them. Sesshomaru was in the corner closest to the kitchen, head down and eyes closed.
I moved out of the doorway, "Food is ready. Sorry for taking so long."
Everyone but Hiei, Sesshomaru, Kurama and myself made their way into the dinning area. I left them to join the others. There was no reason to cause a fight over something that was not important.
After everyone was done and slitting back up into their groups, Sesshomaru walked up beside me as I finished up cleaning. I looked over to him with a slight smile.
"Yes, Sesshomaru?"
"I have been meaning to ask you something," Sesshomaru said in a low whisper, "You said that Naraku was the one."
"Oh, yeah...He was the one who...did something to everyone back in my time. The one who took my friends and family. I was left in order to find you somehow...To kill you somehow. But Kurama and the others ruined the plan. He did not expect anyone to show up. So now I am just a damaged piece, that is why he is trying to kill me," I explained.
Without allowing any time for Sesshomaru to respond, I was already up the first couple of stairs. Sesshomaru stood there for another second before making his way outside once again. Hiei and Kurama were on the outskirts of the forest. He made his way over to the two.
"Lord Sesshomaru," Kurama broke in, stopping his and Hiei's previous conversation, "Where is the lovely Rin?"
"I am not sure."
"She is probably around Shine. Grown quiet fond of her."
"Yes, she has," Sesshomaru agreed under his breath before turning around to leave.
Back in my room, I was sitting on my bed looking out the balcony. The sun was starting to set.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" came Rin's sweet voice from behind me.
I turned around, almost falling off the bed. There she was standing by the door.
"Rin, you almost gave me a heart attack. But I'm glad you are here."
Rin came gliding over to me with her sweet smile. She sat on the bed right next to me. I placed my arm around here and laid my head on hers.
"Lady Shine, are you staying here?"
"Yes, Rin. Of course."
Rin hugged my abdomen. I turned my head towards the door to find Sesshomaru standing there. He took a step into my room as I got to my feet. I made my way out to the balcony, leaving Sesshomaru and Rin in the room. Sesshomaru leaned down to Rin and whispered something to her. She jumped to her feet and took off out of the room.
I leaned against the rim of the balcony with my elcows on the rim and my chin resting on my hands. I was looking up at the sky, ignoring everything going on behind me. The next moment I felt a warm hand on my shoulder.
"It's shaping up to be a beautiful night, isn't it, Sesshomaru?" I aimlessly asked as I continued to watch the last bit of sunlight disappear.
"What is wrong?"
"I just miss...never mind."
"Your home? Your people?"
I looked at the hand still on my shoulder, feeling the warmth that came with it. Without that hand there I felt like I would be lost. Then I moved my gaze up to his face that showed that I had his undivided attention.
As I looked at that face that has always been there by my side through this whole adventure, tears started to swell up in my eyes. I turned my attention back to the moon, making its first appearance in the sky.
"I miss them. My old life, all of my friends, my family. It was all taken from me without warning. Without an explanation. I am a teenager. I am still a child in many aspects. That monster took everything from me. I just want it back," I disclosed all of the feeling I have bent up inside.
Sesshomaru grabbed my hand, and started to head from the balcony and out of the room.
"Where are we going?"
Sesshomaru continued to more or less drag me along without another words to me. He took me to apart of the castle I have not been in before. Up a small flight of stairs and to a door at an end of a hallway.
"Do you remember your first night here?" Sesshomaru inquired in a low almost sweet voice as he looked back at me.
"Yes. It was...I was a frightened and...happy," I answered looking towards the ground with a smile.
"Remember when I told you that your room was the second best place to look up at the sky?"
I nodded seconds before he opened the door. He pulled me through the entrance and onto the roof of the castle.
"It's so...so beautiful! You can see the stars so clearly," I gasped in awe as I took the view in.
Sesshomaru finally released my hand and made his way to the edge of the roof. I followed as soon as he sat on the edge. It did not take me long to make myself comfortable beside him. We watched the stars for a bit.
"I know that I cannot stop the hurt caused by such a loss. All I can do is help you defeat Naraku," Sesshomaru promised.
"Thank you. Truly. But do not say his name. At least not right now," I requested with a small smile as I laid my head on his shoulder without a second thought.
When he looked over I was fast asleep. He gave a smile as his expression softened to one of affection.
"She is so strong, yet very fragile. How she can still find a smile knowing she is being controlled...She is a rare one."
Sesshomaru scooped me into his arms before making his way to the roof entrance.
"Thank you. For all of this, even after I tried to kill you. You should have just let me die," I whimpered.
"Never," he growled.
I snuggled up to his chest and passed back out. Sesshomaru took me straight to my room. He gently placed me in bed and covered me up. After a second of just standing there looking down at me, he turned around and left the room.
Rin ran up to Sesshomaru right before he closed the door. She held out a fully bloomed white rose to him. He took it from her, sneaked back into my room, placed it beside my, and walked back out.
Sesshomaru made his way down the stairs to the entrance, stopping on the last step. Kurama was doing his best to stop Hiei from killing Kuwabara. Inuyasha and Kagome was yelling at each other with Sango and Miroku shaking their heads . Yusuke was holding Kuwabara back.
"All of you have no respect for ones home," Sesshomaru remarked with quiet a bit of malice.
Everyone stoped and looked to him. With that Kagome picked up the sleeping Shippo while Sango got Kirara. Everyone made their way passed Sesshomaru and up to the rooms they were assigned. Yet, as Inuyasha made his way passed his brother, Sesshomaru placed his arm out to stop him. They sharing a deep glare. Inuyasha made his way pass without a word.
"Brotherly love," Kurama remarked.
Sesshomaru gave him a glance before making his way to his own room.
