Blood brothers
"And In 1852, they founded the New York Women's State Temperance Society after Anthony was prevented from speaking at a temperance conference because she was female. In 1863..."
Dewey felt as if he was about to faint, he had a late shift last night and worked all morning on homework for today, but he has to remember why he's doing this, for his mom. She always overworks herself, with work, bills, depth, he can't be one of those burdens, he has to earn his keep, he just needs to survive a couple more hours...
"Dewferd!"
"What?"Dewey was pulled out of his thoughts, his history teacher Mrs Rouen, was probably asking him something, god he hates school.
Ugh Boy she regrets studying history, having to practically shove this information down their throats, she took a deep breath and repeated "When did women get the right to vote?"She asked.
"Uhh you don't know?"He asked, some of the students laughed in response.
"I do, I want to make sure you know, if you did your homework yesterday you'd know so..."
"Uhh ok, congratulations on the vote by the way...I'm very supportive of woman and that, uhm it was...who was the president when this happened? Jimmie Duclair?"
"Dewferd, you're an imbecile"She said, honestly Dewey was slightly relieved how easily he got away with that...if only he cared more about this Anthony chick.
After school dewey ran to work, if he was any later he'd be late, he worked till six pm, then went back home to try to understand the homework. If only he could ask for help, his mom is still working and even if she wasn't she'd be too tired anyway, he didn't have any friends to help, webby hasn't spoken to him since...that.
And not to mention his "brothers" honestly it's best not to think about them, why should he care if those jerks were in his life? They're jerks!..they'd be really helpful right about now. Dewey looked at his phone...should he? Maybe they're calmer now? Maybe they miss him too? No! That's ridiculous, who'd miss him?
Louie started to do school online, webby still went to school but she didn't have the courage to approach Huey or dewey, she knew they were always better when they were together, why should the fact that they're actually brothers be the reason they stopped being friends? That's it! It's time to take action!
It was early in the morning, Louie was still sleeping, literally it's only five in the morning, webby tapped his shoulder "Louie, Louie wake up".
"Crawl in a hole and stay there"Louie groaned.
Webby was use to his mean comments in the morning, honestly he's just not a morning person in general and he really doesn't mean anything by it "Louie we need to talk"She said.
"Webby can't we talk later?"Louie asked.
"Nope, so are you more upset that minima is evil again or that you lost your brothers?"She asked.
Louie actually got up"I don't know...both?"
"So why did you guys separate? Also what is minimas problem? That jerk!"
"First of all you can't just add minima to any conversation just to make me pay attention"
"I just did"She smiled "Now answer!"
"It's complicated webby, we really weren't very close to begin with"Louie said.
"That's a lie"she said.
"Get lost"
"Nope, Louie you were happier when they were around"She said "Why would you guys stop being friends because your brothers"
"It wasn't my choice"
"But doing school online was"
"Look, Dewey and Huey have a lot to think about and a lot of other things to get over, I was just in the way of all that and I refuse to be in the middle of that"
"But you could help each other"Webby said.
"Life's more complicated then that"
"But Huey and Dewey aren't"Webby said.
"What do you suppose I do?"He asked.
Webby smiled "That, is entirely up to you."
Huey was getting use to the fact that...all this happened, after the fight with Dewey and Louie and not to mention the fact that Louie dropped out of school he couldn't face them again.
"HUEY!"
"god- Molly what do you want?"
"I need help with my homework"She said.
"You know when I was your age, I was all by myself and I had to look things up in this thing called a book and find out the answers myself"He said.
"Mom helped you"She said.
"Yeah but moms crazy"He said.
"Huey you're supposed to be watching me while dads at work and moms at the store"
"Yeah..and that's what I'm doing but you forget I have homework too"He said.
"I don't care, after school mom said I can watch tv"She said.
"That's nice"
"Your job is to help me!"She yelled.
"Fine, what do you need help with?"
She grabbed her books and placed them on the table. Then they heard a knock on the door.
"COME INNN!"Molly yelled.
"Molly shh!"Huey said opening the door slowly. It was... "Louie?"
"Your my brothers loser brother aren't you?"She asked.
"And your my brothers loser sister aren't you?"Louie asked.
"I don't like you"She said.
"I'm heartbroken"Louie said sarcastically.
"What do you want Louie?"Huey asked.
"Look, just because we're brothers doesn't mean we're not friends right?"Louie asked.
"Oh so now we're brothers? Sorry Louie but last time I checked, when we took the stupid oath, you didn't even take it seriously"He said.
"Yes I did..."Louie said.
"No, no, you didn't"Huey said "good day"Huey closed the door, Louie opened it, "wait huey!"
He stopped and looked at him.
"The reason I didn't take it seriously was because I didn't want you to know my real name"He said. "But since we're brothers it probably didn't even matter"
"Why would I care about your name?"Huey asked "My name is literally huebert, what could be worse then that?"
"Llewelyn"Louie just ripped off the bandaid.
Molly laughed "you have a girl name?"She asked.
"Molly, how about you go upstairs in your room and I'll play a game with you after he leaves"Huey said.
"Any game I want?"She asked.
"Sure"Huey answered, Molly ran upstairs.
"Sorry about that"Huey said.
"It's fine, I have a sister too remember?"He asked.
"Look lou, you should know that I wouldn't laugh at you for something like that, or even care and as for everything else..I'm really sorry"
"Me too, this is for you"Louie gave him an envelope.
"What's this?"
"It's an invitation to the mcduck winter ball, it's for family, Scrooge considers it the one time of year he has to put up with his family, which includes you, it probably won't be very fun, our cousin Duggan will be there and all the uncles, and aunts and it will probably suck but...you can bring your parents and your sister if you want I just would really like it if you could come...maybe"
"Did your uncle make you invite me?"
"Are you kidding? He doesn't even know I'm here."
Huey takes the invitation "I'll think about it"He said.
"Great...so are we friends again?"
"Sure"
One good thing came from Dewey's job, he got the weekends off, he tried to get his homework done and maybe even fix his past work but he ended up just falling asleep. Maybe his mom should have kept huey, he's a hard worker and handed stress better. He was a disappointment, but it's too late to turn back, he needs to try harder.
There was a knock at the door, Dewey looked at the time, it was noon, when did he fall asleep? And who the heck is at the door? And why isn't he answering it? He rolled over, got up and answered the door. It was Louie...of course it was Louie who else would it be "What do you want?"
"Wow...uh hi"
"Look Louie I don't have time to amuse you, I have a very important day today"Dewey said.
"Can you just listen for a second?"Louie asked.
"Ugh fine, make it quick"
Louie looked at Dewey, he looked exhausted, bags under his eyes, he looked thinner too "Hey are you ok?"
"Yes, bye!"Dewey turned around.
"Wait!"Louie opened the screen door and walked in.
"You know trespassing is against the law, or do rich people even care?"
"What? Dewey this is so unlike you, what's going on?"
"Look Louie, I'm fine, please, go, away, I have work tomorrow"He said.
"Work?"
"Yeah, its this thing poor people do so they can have money"
"No, I mean...what? Dewey why are you so upset?"
"You know why"He said.
"Well ok yeah we all said some pretty awful stuff to each other but that doesn't sound like the reason your upset I just-"
"Louie please stop! I know huey decided he didn't want to be your friend anymore so you're settling with me well guess what I don't want to be a part of it!"
"What? No! In fact Huey wants to be friends again..I just came to apologize and give you this"He handed him the invitation.
"I really missed you Dewey, family is important, I'm sorry I didn't take the blood brothers thing seriously either, I just didn't want you to make fun of my name, Dewey you're a lot more tolerable then Huey, even if it doesn't seem like it, you hold us together, I hope you and Della can come, webby would like that too.. I want you to know that even if you don't want to be friends or even if you don't want to come to the party...I understand and you can come to me for anything.
"Louie?"Dewey asked.
"Yeah?"
Dewey ran to him and hugged him "thanks, I missed you too."
