She squeezed her pillow tightly up against her body. It had been exactly twenty four hours. She plunged her head into the pillow and began to cry. Exactly twenty four hours since her one week relationship with the hottest guy ever had ended.
Yumi lifted her head and wiped away the wetness that had accumulated on her face. She looked out her window, cursing the sun for shining on such a dark day.
Twenty four hours, twenty four hours. She started crying again. What did she do wrong? Why did he have to end it like that? After only one week...
Figuring that only youtube and dessert could solve her problems, she made her way to the living room and turned on the family computer. While waiting for it to boot up, she went to the kitchen, but couldn't find anything with a large enough sugar content.
She sighed and returned to the computer. She signed onto her computer user and once the start screen was up, she clicked the internet browser icon. Her user account was set up so that her school account page would be linked with it, so once the internet home page had opened up, she noticed an unread email alert.
Out of habit, she decided to read it first so as not to forget about it. She clicked on the alert which revealed the unread email.
READ THIS LINK THEN COME TO ROOM 2XXX
Yumi tilted her head, unsure what to make of this strange email. Regardless, she clicked the link which directed her to a text filled page. She became even more confused when she actually began to read what the text said.
Then suddenly her eyes opened wide and her jaw dropped. She backed away from the computer in shock.
After a few moments, she composed herself and rushed towards the house entryway. As she was approaching the door, it opened. Her parents had just arrived home. But before they could utter a "Hi, Yumi," or "What are you doing?" Yumi had already bolted out of the house.
And just as Yumi began to approach the school grounds...
"Look at the cat! Isn't it adorable!" Magali pointed at the cat dancing around in the youtube video on her laptop. She turned towards Ulrich, who instead of watching, was looking at his cell phone. "Ulrich?"
"What? Hm?" He shot a glance at the video before turning his attention back to his cell. "Yeah, very cute."
Magali sighed. She racked her brain, trying to think of some other video she could show Ulrich so he would at least be somewhat interested.
Ulrich in the meantime was texting another girl named Claire. He shook his head, recalling when that crazy Aelita girl called him a misogynistic bastard. Psh, I obviously loved girls. Why else would I date so many of them, even more than one at the same time? What was so misogynistic about that?
Just as he was about to send another text, he got an email alert on his phone. He rolled his eyes. Who emails anymore? Probably a teacher trying to tell him some crap about his grades or whatever.
Nevertheless, he opened up the email. The text was very compressed on his screen, but he could still read the message:
READ THIS LINK THEN COME TO ROOM 2XXX
Ulrich smiled. Obviously a girl based on the room being on the second floor. Interesting, he thought to himself. He couldn't open up the link on his phone, so he turned towards Magali and flashed a smile.
"Hey Mags, could I use your laptop there for a second?"
Having completely given up and feeling pretty cruddy after this "date" with Ulrich, she just pushed the laptop over to him and mumbled, "sure," before crossing her arms.
"Thanks." Ulrich logged on to his school email, opened up the email, and then clicked the link. He was directed towards some weird text document.
"What the...?" Ulrich began, but didn't finish. His expression went from confused and annoyed to silent and shocked.
"Oh my god," he whispered to himself.
"What?" Magali asked, trying to sound as cross as she could, but failing. He armed were still crossed and her body was facing away from him. She didn't get a reply, only silence. Eventually, the curiosity became overwhelming.
"Ulrich, what is..." she turned around, but he was no longer sitting next to her. He was now running off towards the dorms. "Ulrich!"
Ulrich sprinted to the building and quickly ascended the stairs to the second level of dorm rooms. But just as he approached the room the message had said, he noticed someone else standing outside the door.
"Oh no," Ulrich muttered to himself.
"Ulrich!" Yumi squealed.
"What are you doing here?" he asked.
"Well," she started. "I got this weird message that was all creepy and weird, but then something crazy happened, and I came here to find out what it was all about, and...oh my gosh, did you send it to me? Is this because you want to get back together?!"
"No!" Ulrich exclaimed. Yumi's expression went from gleeful to distraught.
"I got the same message too," he explained.
"But who sent it?" Yuki asked
The door in front of the two opened, revealing Aelita.
"Hello, you two," she said. "We need to have a talk."
