Chapter 11: Girls, Clubs, and Lights Out
"For the last fucking time, DON'T TOUCH MY KANEDA!" Garfield yelled as he punched another rotten crook.
Some boys who thought they were bad, tried to take Garfield's Kaneda motorcycle, which had a regular hood this time instead of a Wolf's head. They thought it'd be easy, but once they touched the bike, it just turned horribly for them.
Garfield saw them touch his bike, and the first thing he did was charge and pound the crap out of them. The fight, if you can even call it that, it was more one sided, had finished in like two minutes. After he finished his beat down on the petty street scum, Garfield walked towards his Kaneda and examined it. "Ah, good, they didn't mess her up." Garfield said with a glad smile.
"Boy, you really like 'her' don't you?"
Garfield turned around to see Terra in her school uniform "Oh, hey Terra. Why are you out of class?"
"That's supposed to be my line." Terra said giving Garfield an accusing stare
"What? I saw some guys try and steal my Kaneda." Garfield said like it was nothing.
"And that's why you ran out in the middle of class?" she exclaimed looking at him with an 'are you really that much of an idiot?' look
"Racking up one more detention for moi" Garfield said with a smirk
"You can just buy another one" Terra said, but was a bit surprised when Garfield stared at her with a 'No way' look
"I didn't buy her, I built her, with my bare hands. She's a part of me" Garfield then hugged his bike "She's my baby"
"Beast Boy…"
"You wanna be her mother?"
"What?!" Terra exclaimed with a huge blush
"Just kidding" Garfield said with a grin
"You can be such an idiot" Terra said "Besides, if I had a daughter, I'd name her Kaia"
"Oh, like the other name for Gaia" Garfield said
"Exactly!" Terra exclaimed with a smile. Terra then looked down to the ground, started to blush, and started twisting her foot left to right "Y-you know, you really get me" Garfield then looked at her with one of his eyebrows raised "L-listen, t-there's this club I've been wanting to go to, but I never had anyone to go with"
"What about Tiffany?" Garfield asked
"Like I'd risk taking her to a club" Terra said "A-anyway, I-I was wondering if, maybe, you know, that, possibly, you'd like to, um…. G-go w-with m-me?" she stuttered.
"You mean… a date?" Garfield asked a bit surprised
"Well, no, I mean yes, well, as friends, you know" Terra said looking at the ground with a blush. Terra then noticed that Garfield's shoes in front of her own. Terra looked up to be face to face with a smiling Garfield.
"I'd love to go" Garfield answered with a smile
"Really?! I mean, okay, that's cool" Terra said trying to act cool
"So tonight?"
"Tonight, definitely" Terra said
"Well, let's go back to class shall we" Garfield offered his arm to Terra making her smile
"Yeah, let's go" Terra wrapped her arm around Garfield's as they made their way back to school
Somewhere in India, a few days before
A young man who looked about eighteen was laying on a rock enjoying an apple. He was tall had, looked about eighteen, and he wore a bluish black cloak that was down. He had violet hair that was spiked up a in the front, his skin was pale gray, violet eyes, and a black and red diamond shaped gemstone on his forehead. He was looking at a burning city, which was caused by him. Fire sizzling and cracking, he crumbling buildings and other structures, the agonizing screams that he could hear from the dying citizens, flesh burning to crisps, the smell of rotting skin and the cry of babies who keep on whining and crying, never experiencing the wonder of growing up and feeling the love of a family. For him, it was a gorgeous sight.
"It's beautiful causing destruction all over this rock, but I really wonder what's going on with my sister, and that wretched scum who actually landed a blow on me are doing?" Blinding said eating his apple "Hmm, need some eyes in Jump City, and I know just the shadow" suddenly Blinding's gemstone glowed black and out of it came a living shadow with a long nose, shadow spikes on it's head making it look like hair, a shadowy tail instead of legs, and grinning teeth.
"Blinding, it's been a while since I've been summoned, found your sister yet?" the shadow asked
"Yes, but I haven't met her in person again yet" Blinding said "I want you to go to Jump City and check out things, oh and do me a favor, there's this boy named the Midnight Wolf, if you see him, kill him"
"Two questions, what's he look like and where or how do I find him?" the shadow asked
"He dons a hooded black cape like my own and he where's an iron wolf mask, and to find him, just follow my sister and her friends" Blinding said
"Alright then, see ya later" the shadow then flew away towards Jump City
"Now where next?" Blinding said as he looked into a brochure about India "Oo~ the Taj Mahal, looks good enough for a cambion prince like myself" Blinding said chuckling evilly
At Titans Tower, present day
Logan was in his the bathroom, in only a towel surrounding his waist, shaving some fuzz he had on his chin. Once he was done, he gel back his hair and grinned at himself in the mirror. He admired himself, his hair style, his eyes, his body which was slim, but muscular as well, and of course his face, thank goodness he lost the baby fat years ago "Oh yeah, you look ready to party." Suddenly the door to the bathroom opened and in came Starfire. The two noticed each other and screamed.
"I Am Sorry!" Starfire apologized covering her eyes
"It's okay, it was my fault for not locking the door" Garfield said nervously with a huge blush
"Well, well, well" the two turned around to see Blackfire at the door with her arms crossed "You kids sure move fast" she said making the two blush madly
"Sister This Is Not What It Looks Like!" Starfire exclaimed waving her hands in defense
"Oh come on sister, I don't blame you" Blackfire said putting her arm around her sister's shoulders "I mean look at him all muscular and handsome" she said making Garfield blush
"Well I guess I am pretty impressive" Garfield said with a proud grin flexing his muscle, but then suddenly, his towel fell off.
An awkward silence had befallen the room.
All three of them were blushing as to what had happened.
Garfield grabbed his towel and covered himself, while Starfire grabbed her sister and quickly flew out of the bathroom, closing the door on their way out "Sorry!" Garfield exclaimed inside the bathroom
"It Was My Fault!" Starfire yelled back blushing neon red. Starfire then heard her sister giggling "What is so humorous?" Starfire asked her older sibling
"Oh come on, don't act all innocent, that sight had to have turned you on." Blackfire said with a mischievous smirk
"SISTER!" Starfire exclaimed with blushing even more, if that was even possible
"You know for someone who was such a half-pint when he was young, it's unbelievable that all this time he was actually so-"
"Don't Say It!" Starfire squeaked as she covered her ears
Blackfire just kept her mischievous smirk "Big down there"
"AHHH!" Starfire screamed as she quickly flew away
"What happened?!" Robin exclaimed as he ran around the corner to meet Blackfire
"Oh nothing, my sister's just got a little excited" Blackfire said with a smirk
"Oh… okay" Robin said leaving the hall
"Man that was embarrassing" Garfield said "Well at least I'm done shaving, so all I need to do is get dressed and meet with Terra so we can go to the club". Unknown to Garfield, Blackfire heard the whole thing.
"A club, huh?" the Tamaranian said with a mischievous smirk
Later in Garfield's old room
Garfield was dressed in black jeans, a tank top, black with white shoes that looked a lot like his old ones, and a black leather jacket, and of course, he wore his junuvine necklace. "Look at you, ready to party, just like the days of old" Garfield said as he checked himself out in the mirror. Garfield then sprayed some cologne on himself and left his room.
As Garfield walked into the garage, he saw Robin and Cyborg working on the T-car
Cyborg saw his best friend and whistled "BB, looking sharp"
"You going somewhere?" Robin asked smirking
"Just heading out is all" Garfield said before getting on his Kaneda and starting the engine "Don't wait up" he said riding out of the garage
In front of Terra's house
Terra made her way downstairs, where she met Garfield who was on his Kaneda
"Should've known you'd bring that bike" Terra said
"Her name is Marie" Garfield said
"Marie?"
"Named after my mother" Garfield said
"Oh" Terra felt a bit saddened for Garfield since his mother was no longer around, but she thought it was sweet that he named his motorcycle after her. After all, it would explain why it meant so much to him.
"You look nice by the way"
Terra wore a striped black and white shirt, a black skirt, black knee high combat boots, and a black leather jacket like Garfield's. "Oh, thanks" Terra said blushing at the compliment.
"So you gonna hop on?" Garfield said with a smirk. Terra just smiled and got onto Marie "Hold tight" Garfield said starting Marie up. Terra wrapped her arms as Garfield rode off; she felt like she was in a movie, Garfield the cool guy in high school who every girl wanted, and she was regular teenage girl who had a crush on the cool guy and was so happy that she finally was spending some alone time with him. In short, this moment felt magical.
Later
"There it is" Terra said pointing at the club
Garfield stopped in front the club that was all too familiar to him 'The Jump… where it all started' flashes of when he first came here started flooding his mind. The H.I.V.E. Five, the P.M.G.,… the loss of his powers.
"Beast Boy? Are you okay?" Terra asked
"Huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine" Garfield drove to the parking lot and parked his bike and got off "Let's go" Garfield said helping Terra off his bike before he pressed a button on his engine keys
"Aren't you afraid of someone stealing it?" Terra asked
Garfield took out a ball of paper from the floor and tossed it onto the bike, where it was electrocuted and sent into the wall and turned to ash "It'll be fine, now come on" Garfield grabbed Terra's hand "It's time to let the beast out" he said making Terra giggle.
Unknown to them, high up in the sky Blackfire was looking at them with a devious smirk "Logan, Logan, Logan, you know you should invite your friends when you go out to places that you know they want to go to."
Inside The Jump
Inside The Jump, everyone was dancing and having a good time.
Terra and Garfield were dancing on the floor having fun. Terra was happy that she finally got to spend quality time with Garfield; it was so hard since they always were stuck with Tiffany, Zack and the Titans. After the song was done, Terra and Garfield sat down as a table.
"Beat already?" Garfield asked with a smirk
"And you're not?!" Terra said.
"What can I say, I'm a stamina freak" Garfield said with a toothy grin. "You look pretty dehydrated, you need a drink?"
"Yes please." Terra said.
Garfield made his way to the bar as he heard Terra yell out for some water. "A coke and some water please." Garfield asked the bartender. As he waited, he looked around the place; it was very flashy and lively, and everyone was having the time of their lives, but he still couldn't shake the thought of what happened four months ago out of his head.
"Having a fun time?" said a voice next to him.
"Oh yeah, it's great" Garfield turned to the voice to see Blackfire smirking at him "… What are you doing here?"
"What's it look like? I'm having fun" Blackfire said
"Do the others know where you are?" he got his answer when she pointed to the dance floor to see the Titans dancing, except for Raven of course. Garfield was wigging out, because he saw Starfire, and no doubt that if she sees him with Terra, it's not going to well "You Brought Them Here?!"
"Like you're the only one who deserves to have fun" Blackfire said
"Did you tell them I was here?" Garfield asked, hoping she didn't
"Now where would the fun be if I did?" Blackfire said
"Good. Please keep them away from me and Terra" Garfield said
"You mean just Starfire, right?" Blackfire said pointing to her younger sister. Garfield looked at Starfire and was put in a trance as he saw her dance. Her moves were so free and graceful; it was like staring at an angel who moved with such beauty. Garfield was put out of his trance when his drinks arrived. "Just don't tell them I'm here" Garfield said taking the drinks.
"You might want to wipe away that drool, Casanova." Blackfire said giggling as Garfield wiped away his saliva with his sleeve, before returning to Terra.
"Hey, you're back" Terra said "Were you drooling?"
"No." Garfield said giving Terra her water. Terra took a few sips from her water, and noticed that Garfield was sitting next to her "What are you doing?"
"Sitting. Why?" Garfield asked.
"Dude, just go dance"
"And leave you here? No way" Garfield said
"I'll be fine, don't worry okay" Terra said with a smile, but Garfield wasn't persuaded that easy "Or do I have to use my powers to convince you?"
"No!" Garfield exclaimed surprising Terra "I-I'll go dance, but if anything happens, call me." Garfield said making his way to the dance floor, leaving a confused Terra.
'And here I thought he wasn't afraid of threats' Terra thought as she saw him get lost in the crowd
Garfield sighed on his way to the dance floor. He wasn't afraid of that little threat Terra mad because he was afraid of her powers, no, he was just afraid that the Titans would see him and there would be conflict between him, Starfire and Terra. As he started dancing, Garfield started to think about Terra and Starfire. It's crazy. Him and Terra have history. Sur she betrayed them, but she she was driven by fear and desperation, and you know what Garfield says. Desperation is an emotion only known by fools. And as much as he didn't want to admit it, back then, Terra was a fool.
Starfire, well it was pretty obvious. She was always there for him, she made him a better person, and the chemistry they were having lately. Nice.
He didn't know what to do, both the girls told him that they loved him, and that's not an easy thing to take in for him. Sure back in the day he wanted every hottie around the world, but that's the nature of every man. Now that he's older, he's more mature now, but his head is in shambles, since he cares about both girls equally. Garfield sighed 'I shouldn't let this all go to my head, right now I should just calm down and let the music take me' Garfield thought as he danced to the music. Suddenly he felt a pair of arms wrap themselves around his neck.
"Hi stranger" said a female voice
Garfield turned his head to see who it was "Jillian?!" Garfield said the pinkette's name, who smiled at him.
"Good to see you again Gar." Jillian said with a smile.
Garfield was drooling at the sight of her. Jillian wore a sky blue dress that hugged her curvy body; it stopped a bit over her knees and was held by a single strap over her shoulder, and it shined from the special fabric it was made out of.
"See something you like?" Jillian teased with a smirk
"Uh, I…" Garfield shook his head and got out of her hold "What're you doing here?"
"I came here to have fun with my girlfriends. I didn't expect to see you here." Jillian said with a smile, happy that Garfield was here.
"Uh, yeah" Garfield scratched the back of his head
"So… you wanna dance" Jillian asked fluttering her eyes and smirking
"Sure!" Garfield exclaimed as he started dancing with Jillian. Garfield was having fun dancing with Jillian. Who would've that Garfield actually was dancing with Jillian Jackson, his first love. Even though many years have passed, this felt great. It was something he had always wanted back when he was younger. As they danced for a while, one of Jillian's friends called her name.
"Oh crap, sorry Gar, I gotta" she then hugged him and kissed him on the cheek "I'll be back~" she said seductively as she walked away.
Garfield held his cheek, obviously the one that was kissed, and he had a happy look on his face. He figured that he should go back to Terra, but then he was tackled into a bon crushing hug.
"Beast Boy!" Starfire exclaimed with joy "I Am So Happy You Are Here!"
"Starfire… hug… crushing… me…" Garfield choked out.
"Oh… apologies" Starfire apologized as she let him go "When did you get here?"
"A little while ago" Garfield lied since he's been here for hours
"Come, let us dance" Starfire said grabbing his hands
"Uh, actually Star I can't right now" Garfield said, but Starfire brought her face close to his.
"Please" Starfire said with a seductive smile and fluttering her eyes
"Okay" Garfield immediately said with a big smile on his face. Starfire dragged him to the dance floor, and as they started dancing, Garfield forgot all about Terra and Jillian.
Garfield and Starfire dance together and were having a blast. The dancing was fun, and the music was great, but that wasn't the thing that made them happy. It was the fact that they were together that made them happy. They just danced, until someone bumped into Starfire making her lose he footing, but Garfield was there to grab her. Starfire looked up into Garfield's eyes. Their gazes were locked with one another, they were stuck in a trance. The two leaned into each other, until their lips were locked together. Starfire put one of her arms around Garfield's neck and her free hand to cup Garfield's cheek, and Garfield put his arms around Starfire's waist. The two held each other lovingly, enjoying every moment. They forgot about the people, the music, everything. They only focused on each other. It was just them. And it was perfect.
Terra finally got some more energy in her and started heading for the dance floor, where she saw Garfield and Starfire locking their lips. Terra was shocked, her heart hurt, she felt betrayed, and she was angry. She then marched her way to the two with an angry look.
Jillian had two drinks in her hand as she made her way back to Garfield, but she stopped and noticed that Garfield was making out with some red head girl who she remembered as the alien heroine Starfire. She dropped the drinks she held as they fell to the ground. She was shocked. She then clenched her fists and started making her way to the two with an angry look on her face.
Garfield was in trouble.
As the two finished their passionate kiss and looked into each other's eyes with much love and passion. Garfield could stare into Starfire's eyes all day, but he couldn't because he then noticed that a very angry Jillian was heading there way.
"Uh oh" Garfield said with frightened eyes. Suddenly he felt someone tap his shoulder.
"Mind if I cut in?" Terra said with her arms crossed and a pissed off look on her face.
"Terra!" Garfield exclaimed as he released Starfire and quickly faced Terra "I can explain" Terra slapped him across the face "I probably deserved that"
"Probably?! How Could You Do This To Me?!" Terra yelled at him
"Terra, what is the matter? Why did you slap Garfield?" Starfire asked the earth manipulator.
"Why Are You Locking Lips With My Date, You Orange Skinned Wierdo?!" Terra yelled
"Terra!" Garfield yelled her name in shock of what she said
"Date?!" Starfire exclaimed as she then turned and glared at Garfield, who just sweat at the feeling of the intense glare
"I can explain" Garfield said getting a growl from the Tamaranian queen "Okay, maybe I can't"
"You seduced him, didn't you, you whore?!" Terra accused the alien heroine as she pushed Garfield to the side
"Whore?! How Dare You Call Me Such Language You… You… Varvurnelp!" Starfire yelled at the blonde
"I don't know what that means, But I Know It Wasn't Good With That Tone Of Voice And Scowl On Your Ugly Face!" Terra yelled back
Garfield backed away a bit, but then he was slapped across the face again, but this time by Jillian "Jillian, let me explain"
"Oh don't bother, I saw what happened from across the room. You Played Me You Jerk!" Jillian yelled
"I didn't I swear" Garfield said putting his hands up in defense
"I Can't Believe You! I Thought You Were Sweet And Kind! I Thought You Were Different, You Pig!" Jillian yelled poking her finger into Garfield's chest
"Who The Hell Are You?!" Terra yelled noticing the pink hair young woman
"Jillian Jackson" Jillain introduced herself glaring at the blonde
"You're That Bitch Who Broke Garfield's Heart!" Terra yelled at her
"Out Of Fear, At Least I Didn't Do It Out Of Selfishness, Terra!" Jillian yelled
"How did you even hear about that?" Garfield asked the furious pinkette
"From your friend Victor" Jillian answered glaring at Logan
"I'm going to kill Cyborg" Garfield grumbled to himself
"I Made A Mistake! I'm Trying To Fix Things! Unlike You Bitch!" Terra yelled poking Jillian in the chest
"How Dare You! I Am Trying To Fix Things! And At Least I Got A Better Chance At Being His Girlfriend Than You, You Power Hungry Slut!" Jillian yelled back poking her finger into Terra's chest
"Girls please, let us not fight" Starfire said getting between the two, trying to be the reasonable one
"Shut It Whore!" Jillian yelled at her
"Yeah, You Are Nothing, But A Troublemaking Bitch!" Terra yelled
How Dare You! I can't believe I'm actually going to say this, but… I Am Going To Slap The Bitch Out Of You Two!" Starfire yelled
"Whoa!" Garfield exclaimed as he heard Starfire yell something he never expected to hear from her, ever.
"Oh you wanna bring it, you bitchy queen" Terra said using both her hands to make the 'bring it on' sign
"Let's Go, Freak!" Jillian yelled putting her fist up, saying screw it to the code of an officer that she lived by
"Oh Jesus Christ" Garfield said as everyone noticed the argument between the three beauties and started crowding around them
"Oh Yeah!" exclaimed a random guy with a blonde mullet and cap "Three Way Cat Fight! Awesome!" Garfield then back fisted the guy in the face with an annoyed look on his face
Outside
Flying around the city was the shadow that Blinding had summoned back in India. He was lucky that it was night time, he hated the morning because of the light; he hated the light more than anything. He was looking for this Midnight Wolf guy, but he couldn't find a trace of him "Dammit. I was hoping to find this Midnight Wolf prick and see what he was made of." The shadow flew over a part of the city where he saw flashing lights "I hate lights. At least they aren't the kind that can hurt me." As he kept on flying, he suddenly stopped as he felt a familiar presence "Blinding? No… this aura feels lighter. This has to be his sister. Which means that the Wolf will be with her." The shadow grinned with it's sharp teeth "This ought to be one HELL of a night" the shadow said laughing like a mad man as he flew down towards the place with flashing lights.
Inside the Jump
The Titans stopped what they were doing and noticed the commotion that was going on down at the lower level.
"What's going on down there?" Cyborg said as he and the rest looked downstairs
"Looks like Garfield was busy with my sister, Terra and some pink haired girl" Blackfire said "Honestly, I didn't think he was that kind of guy" Blackfire said not really being honest
"That idiot" Raven said looking at the ex-changeling, failing to notice the giant shadow behind her.
Garfield was shaking his head with so much shame in himself 'And here I thought I wasn't an idiot anymore' Garfield thought, but then he noticed the ominous living shadow looming behind Raven with it's arm stretched back, ready to attack. "Oh Crap! Raven! Behind You!" Garfield yelled
Raven quickly turned around to see the living shadow ready to attack "Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" she yelled her chant shooting black magic at the creature, but it just only made him bigger. The shadow laughed like a maniac, before thrusting his shadowy claw at her, but Robin tackled her down to the ground, saving her from.
Garfield ran up a pillar and jumped over the railing and kicked the shadow, but he just went through the creature as if he just went through air that felt heavy. Garfield landed to the ground and started to dodge the claws, and then manage to move back, barely missed the sharp teeth of the creature that would've bit off his face, but he was swatted away by the shadow's tail.
The shadow then moved like a serpent and wrapped himself around Raven and raised her in the air by his tail, that was wrapped around her body like a snake. "So you're Blinding's twin sister" what the shadow said shocked everyone, but it's words shocked Raven even more.
'Blinding?! My Twin?! But That's Impossible!' Raven thought with wide eyes as the shadow's tip of it's tail pulled down Raven's hood, revealing her face.
"Oh yes, there's no doubt now. You are Blinding's twin. After all, you look like a female version of him." The shadow said. Suddenly Cyborg shot it with his sonic cannon and it actually hurt him, thet he dropped Raven from his grasp. Robin jumped in the air and caught Raven bridal style.
"You alright?" Robin asked the magic mistress as he landed. Raven blushed and nodded yes to his question.
Garfield noticed that the cannon hurt him and realized his weakness 'Light. Of Course! Shadows are a part of darkness, and darkness can't stand light.' Garfield turned to the DJ booth where the switch to turn on all the lights was. With new determination in his eyes, Garfield dashed all the way towards the DJ booth. Suddenly the shadow appeared in front of him, but he was bigger and was grinning at him with his dangerously sharp teeth.
"Going somewhere, Wolfy?" the shadow said with a scary grin
"Just going to lighten things up" Garfield said with a smirk. The shadow had giant claws coming out of it's body and darted towards him, but Garfield dashed passed them and as the shadow's head darted towards him with it's mouth open, Garfield jumped over it, and managed to not get on the menu. Garfield then made it to the DJ booth where the DJ was spinning records.
"Yo dude, nobody, but myself is allowed up here" the DJ said
"Try telling that to him" Garfield pointed towards the grinning evil shadow. The DJ screamed like a girl, before jumping off the booth. Garfield found the light switch, but the shadow clawed at it and destroyed it, before Garfield could even reach it "Dammit!" Garfield cursed. Garfield was then tripped by the shadows tail.
"I wonder what a human tastes like" the shadow said as it grinned at him with drool coming down it's mouth.
Garfield started to inch away from the creature, until he noticed a giant mechanical handheld flashlight that was in the shape of a gun (Think of the one from Dead Space 2) in the booth. Garfield quickly grabbed it and turned on the power button, and soon enough, a beam of light, as bright as the sun, hit the shadow, making it scream in agony as it quickly flew away back it a dark spot. Garfield quickly got up and stopped the record getting everyone's attention. "Everyone, we have a problem up in the club, and I'm afraid we're going to have to close down, immediately." Garfield said gripping onto the mic, making everyone whine, but then it was soon replaced with gasp of terror as the saw the giant shadow creature behind him. Garfield quickly turned around, just to get clawed in the chest, sending him down to the first floor. "EVERYONE GET OUT NOW!" Garfield yelled into the mic in his hand. Everyone just ran straight for the exit, except for the Titans, Terra and Jillian.
"GARFIELD!" Starfire, Terra and Jillian yelled the jet black haired boy's name as they ran to him. The three gather around him and were frightened when the saw his chest was bleeding. Garfield got up with the help of the girls. As they all looked up to the sound, they saw the shadow laugh maniac as spikes stab into the power system. Suddenly the lights were starting to go out.
"He's shutting off all the power" Cyborg said "If we stay here, we're sitting ducks"
"Go For The Exit!" Garfield yelled as everyone made the break for the exit. As everyone made it to the exit, they all notice that Garfield wasn't with them. They turned around to see Garfield slammed the doors. Garfield saw a pipe, grabbed it and ripped it out of the wall and put it through the handles of the door and then concentrated hard and summoned some Qi energy to his palms to give him a little strength so he could bend the bar, so no one could get in.
On the other side, Cyborg and Robin slammed their fists onto the door.
"Garfield, Open The Door, Now!" Robin ordered
"It's too late for that" Garfield said on the other side
"What Do You Think You're Doing?!" Raven yelled
"Someone has to stop him, and it's going to be me"
"Garfield, why are you doing this?" Jillian asked with tears in her eyes
"Because I swore that I would protect the people of Jump City and those that are precious to me. If I don't finish it here, then that THING will wreak havoc on all of Jump City" Garfield said "Cyborg, I need you to call Zack and tell him to contact me so he can help me find the emergency backup switch"
"The spiky hair geek with the dark rings around his eye?!" Jillian exclaimed "How's he going to help?!"
"Trust me Jill, he can do just about anything when he's got a computer in front of him. He'll look up the blueprints for this place and guide me to it" Garfield said
"BB, when you survive this, I am going to kick your butt for being so stupid" Cyborg said
"Same here" Raven agreed
"I wouldn't expect anything less" Garfield said as he smiled
"Garfield" Starfire said his name as she placed her hand on the door
"I'll be fine Starfire… I promise" Garfield said genuinely "Is Terra still there?"
"I'm still here Garfield" Terra said stepping in front of the door
"Terra… I'm sorry… tonight was just you and me, and I betrayed your trust… I understand if you hate me"
"I could never hate you Beast Boy… we've all done things we've regretted in the past"
"Garfield please, just open the damn door!" Jillian cried as she pounded her fist against the door
"I can't Jill, but I promise that when this is over, I'll take you out to dinner, just to make you happy again, okay?" Garfield said, hearing Jillian cry on the other side of the door
"I'm going to hold you to that" Jillian choked out, making Garfield smile
"You guys go, I'll see you in the morning. If I live that long." Garfield whispered that last part as he turned around to face the darkness "Lights out" he said as the last light went out.
Outside
Outside, Jillian was crying, her tears pouring down her eyes like waterfalls. She had just found Garfield and now she felt she was just going to lose him again, but this time it could forever. Starfire floated to Jillian and placed her hands on the pinkette's shoulders.
"Miss Jillian, please do not cry" Starfire pleaded
"How can I not… Garfield could die" Jillian said with sorrow in her voice as her tears continued to pour
"Shut up" Terra said getting the two girls attention "He said he'll see us again, so he will. Garfield always keeps a promise" she turned and gave them a sad smile "That's why we like him so much, right?"
Jillian still had tears in her eyes, but she then gave Terra her own sad smile and nodded in response "Right"
Cyborg took out his communicator and started to call Zach "Cyborg to Zach, do you copy? Over"
"Zach here, is this an emergency? Over" Zach picked up
"Garfield…"
"Is doing something heroic and stupid again?"
"You know him so well"
"Don't we all. I'll contact him on his tele-shades" Zach said before cutting off the transmission
"Garfield's got a pair of tele-glasses?" Robin asked Cyborg
"I got a pair too. Those things are just too cool to pass off" Cyborg said with a smirk "He also made a pair for you too, I got 'em back at the tower"
"And the reason you never gave them to me?" Robin asked narrowing his eyes
"You never asked" Cyborg said with a smirk acting all innocent, making Robin fume
Inside the Jump
Garfield had his eyes closed as he started to inhale and then exhale repeatedly trying to sense the shadow, but could not get a trace of him; at least not in one spot anyway
"What's wrong? Giving up already?" the shadow taunted, his voice echoing everywhere
'It feels like he's everywhere… this'll be more difficult than I thought' Garfield reached into his jacket pocket to take out a pair of sunglasses, before placing them over his eyes. He then pressed a button that was on the side of the shades, making them turn on "Night vision, on." His vision had become orange, instead of green, but he could see what was in front of him. Garfield started making his way to the dance floor 'If that DJ booth had this huge flashlight gun thing, then it probably has some blueprints of this place. It seems the only way to beat this shadow is turn the lights back on, and thanks to Cyborg, I know that everyplace has a back-up generator and an emergency light switch. All I got to do is find those blueprints, get to the basement, turn the lights back on, and avoid that shadow while doing so.'
Garfield suddenly heard footsteps from the left. He quickly turned on his flashlight gun and aimed it to the left, only to see a dashing shadowy figure. 'I don't think it was that shadow' Garfield thought a little worried about there being more than one creature to do deal with. And he was right. He suddenly felt heavy breathing behind him. He quickly turned and aimed his flashlight to see a frightening unexpected sight.
There in the light was a dark creature; it had the torso of a human, but two miniature arms with three digit hands were sticking out of it's stomach, it's feet also had three digits, two in the front, one it the back. It's arms were up in the air, the elbows bent so it's forearms were facing him, and at he end of the forearms were not hands, but large spikes; it had no bottom jaw, but and upper one with sharp teeth, but the scariest thing about the creature was it's white soulless glowing eyes. The creature was growling at him at him, standing him down with his soulless glowing eyes.
'Oh crap' Garfield thought as the monster gave a roared and swung it's razor sharp claw at him. Garfield ducked under it's prey mantis like claw, and then back away as it took another swing, and then dodged to the side to avoid both it's claws that went down into a diving stabbing motion. The creature then swung it's claw at Garfield and managed to cut him in the side. Garfield gritted his teeth and held his bleeding side "That was a good jacket…" the monster charged at him "You Son Of A-" Garfield yelled as he ducked under the creatures claws and punched it in the face sending it back a bit, but the creature got out of it's daze and charged at Garfield again, but the ex-shape shifter took out his combat knife and started dodging it's attacks and started slashing at it.
"Yo Garfield, are you… HOLY SHIT! Is That What I Think It Is?!" Zack yelled on the other line of the tele-glasses
"You know what this thing is?" Garfield asked his friend through his shades
"It's one of those necromorphs from Dead Space!" Zack yelled on the other line
"Oh shit. What Do I Do?!" Garfield exclaimed narrowly missing a slash that would've chopped off his head
"Just do what Isaac Clarke does" Zack said
"Which is?!"
"Cut off his limbs and decapitate him"
Garfield tightened the grip on his knife and concentrated Qi into surrounding it and then slashed at the shadowmorph's arm, cutting it off. As the arm fell to the floor, it dispersed into black smoke. The shadowmorph roared and swung it's remaining claw at Garfield who ducked under it and used his knife to slash off the creature's last arm and then swiftly cut off it's head. The shadowmorph fell down to the ground, where it turned into black smoke then completely vanished.
"That was pretty intense" Garfield breathed out
"Can I ask, What the Hell Is Going On!?"
"Long story short, an evil shadow working for Blinding came and started raising hell, so now I locked myself in hear so I can deal with him myself" Garfield answered searching around the room with his flashlight gun, keeping up his guard
"Oh, is that all, well that's understandable. Are You High?! How Do You Expect To Fight A Living Shadow?!" Zack screamed on the other line
"With light of course, but what really makes me wonder, is the fact that that shadow creature didn't die out from the light" Garfield said
"Maybe the thing was made from the same magic as Blinding's shadow demons"
"But that doesn't explain why the one that attacked me and the others couldn't stand it"
"Maybe it's because Blinding felt that that shadow would've turned on him and finished him if he was immune to it"
"Would explain it, considering it would've been unstoppable if it was" suddenly Garfield winced in pain as he grabbed his bleeding side
"Dude, What Happened?!" Zack asked worried
"That shadowmorph managed to get me on the side, but don't worry, I'm sure the DJ booth has a first-aid kit" Garfield then heard growling as he aimed his flashlight gun at the origin of the sound to find multiple shadowmorphs "Oh shit."
The shadowmorphs roared as they charged at him
Zack's place
Zack watched in horror and amazement at the sight. His best friend was going up against a group of shadow versions of necromorphs from one of his favorite videogames, and all he has is just a single combat knife. Suddenly Zack was getting a call on his computer. Zack pressed the receive button "Hello?"
"Zack, how's BB doing?" Cyborg asked worried about his best friend
"Well… he's doing fine, he might get a few cuts here and there, but… uh… he'll live… I hope"
"What's going on? Is that shadow giving him trouble?" Cyborg asked trying to keep his cool
"Uh, sort of"
"SORT OF?!" yelled Terra, Starfire and Jillian appearing behind Cyborg, leaning over the half-man, half-robot's shoulder. Their presence made Zack flinch and cover his face with his arms
"You okay?" Cyborg asked
"Uh, yeah" Zack put his arms down "I'm just no used to woman, I mean I'm not a ladies man like Gar" Zack said chuckling, but was silenced when the three girls glared at him. "A-anyway, that shadow actually made friends"
"What do you mean?" Cyborg asked
"Well… you ever heard of Dead Space?"
"That videogame franchise with the mutated space zombies?" Cyborg asked, wondering why he brought that up
"Yeah, well… I'm just going to put it bluntly. Garfield is fighting shadow versions of the necromorphs" Zack said
"WHAT?!" they all yelled
"So, uh, you might want to get inside The Jump" Zack said
"No!" Garfield said on the other line of the computer
"Garfield, Is That You?!" Jillian asked hoping it was
"Yeah it is, and don't break into The Jump" Garfield said making his way to the second floor where the DJ booth is "I decided to stay here and finish this damn thing off, because if this thing got out, he would wreak havoc in the city; and since apparently he can make these things… I don't want to think of it. So no one comes in here, got it?"
"…Yeah dude, I got it" Zack said
"So do you all promise that you won't storm this place?"
"Knowing how stubborn you are, I guess I have to" Zack said
"Zack!" Terra exclaimed the computer geek's name
"Terra, I don't like this promise either, but Garfield's right, if that shadow and it's pets get out into the city while it's still dark out, the people might never see the light of the sun ever again" Zack said. Terra looked down to the ground.
"We swore to look out for the innocent and protect them and those we care about" Garfield said "I'm sorry…" Terra started to shed tears
"Just come back alive, you idiot" Terra said
"Jillian? Star?"
Starfire was hesitant, but she knew in order to make sure that the people of Jump City would be safe, she had to agree "Alright Garfield… I trust you, so I too promise"
"Jill?" Garfield said the police cadet's name
Jillian was still not convinced. She made a mistake in the past; she ran away from the only man who truly loved her and now that she found him and earned his trust again, she didn't want to lose him. No way was she going to make a promise that would cost Garfield his life. And Garfield knew this.
"Zack, show her what I see, now" Garfield ordered. Zack nodded his head and typed in a sequence of buttons. Everyone was at the tower, Cyborg was with the girls to contact Zack on Garfield's condition, while Robin and Raven were searching through her library for anyway to seal away the living shadow. When the Titan computer connected with Garfield's tele-shades, the ex-changeling walked to the railing and looked down to see over twenty of the shadowmorphs and more just kept coming out of nowhere "You see that Jill?" Garfield said. Cyborg and the girls saw the creatures with looks of shock and a bit of fear "If those things get into the city, they would multiple and we can say goodbye to Jump City"
Jillian looked as there were now forty five of those things and they just kept coming. Jillian didn't like it, but she knew that Garfield was right "Fine… I promise I won't break in"
"Thank you. I'm going to find the emergency light switch, no more darkness, no more of these things." Garfield said "I'll see you guys in the morning. Zack, end the transmission" Zack nodded and cut the connection
Cyborg and the girls just stood there in silence, worried for their friend. Jillian just started to walk away towards the door.
"Friend Jillian, where are you going?" Starfire asked seeing the pinkette walk away
"I'm going to give my report to the police" Jillian said not turning back
"But you promised Garfield that you wouldn't"
"No I didn't. I promised him that I wouldn't break in, I never said the police wouldn't" Jillian said
"But what about the lives that will be endangered?! Remember what Logan said?!" Terra exclaimed
"Yes I do, but I also remember that those things like the darkness, so I'll inform them of their weakness to light, that way we'll attack when the sun is out" Jillian said turning to them
"And if the sun doesn't kill them?" Cyborg asked
"We'll be armed and ready, besides, you and Zack aren't the only ones who know about that game" Jillian smirked before walking out the door
"So now what?" Terra asked
"We just wait" Cyborg said
At The Jump
Garfield finally made his way to the DJ booth and searched for the first-aid kit. Once he found it, he threw away his jacket and took off his shirt, and started to tend to his wounds. As he bandaged his wounds he put his shirt back on, and then lifted his pant leg up to reveal strap holsters that he uses to hold his two katanas on his back, but since he doesn't have them, he's going to have to improvise. He wrapped it around his torso and looked around the boot. After moving a couple of stereos, he found a glass box that had an axe inside "That'll be useful" Garfield said as he grabbed a small stereo and smashed it onto the glass. Some of the shadowmorphs heard the sound, and roared searching around the place for the origin of the noise.
Garfield grabbed the axe and ducked under the table. Garfield slowed down his breathing and tried to calm down. Suddenly he heard a growl. Looking up he saw a shadowmorphs head sticking out, but it didn't notice him. Garfield held his breath as the creature looked around the booth, looking for a meal it could sink it's teeth into.
The shadowmorph was looking around the DJ booth for any signs of life. It saw broken glass in the booth so it went inside and searched around. It growled sniffing around the area, and when it wasn't looking, it's head was chopped off.
Garfield chopped of the shadowmorph's head and then swiftly cut off both of it's arms. The shadowmorph's body fell and it then evaporated into black smoke. Garfield started to calm down his breathing as he killed the creature. Garfield carefully looked out of the booth to see if any of the other shadowmorphs were around. He poked his head out to see the shadowmorphs still walking around searching for any life.
Suddenly a shadowmorphs appeared out of nowhere in front Garfield's face and roar at the young hero. Garfield clenched the handle of the axe tightly as he raised it high and brought it down on the creature's head, cutting it in half. As the creature roared from the pain, Garfield kicked it's chest, sending it falling out of the booth. The shadowmorph landed hard onto the floor, alerting the other shadowmorphs. The shadowmorphs roared as they saw there fallen comrade.
Garfield looked around and saw that some of the shadowmorphs were making their way up the stairs; no doubt trying to get to the DJ booth. Knowing he didn't have that much time, Garfield started searching for the blueprints of The Jump. The shadowmorphs roared as they were closing in on the DJ booth. Garfield was searching high and low for the blueprints. He then started hearing what sounded like something piercing metal. Garfield stood and looked over to see the shadowmorphs climbing up to the booth with their claws. Garfield started to think of what to do. He then noticed the big stereos that were being held by some cables. Garfield grabbed the axe and cut the cables that held the stereos in place. He then pushed the stereos to the edge of the booth where the shadowmorphs were climbing.
Suddenly one of the shadowmorphs got to the top and roared as it raised it's claw, but Garfield grabbed his axe again and countered the claw with a chop from his weapon and then kicked the shadowmorph in the torso, sending it falling, and taking another one with it on it's way down. Garfield then quickly pushed the stereos over the edge and sending them down onto the shadowmorphs, sending them down to the floor. The stereo's even crushed some of the shadowmorphs on the way down.
Garfield started to calm down his breathing again, but suddenly a shadowmorphs appeared behind him. Garfield quickly turned and tried dodged, but he got cut on the shoulder from the shadowmorph's claw. The shadowmorph jumped Garfield, but the ex-changling put up his axe in defense to stop the creature from successfully grabbing him. This shadowmorph had a bottom jaw and tried to bite Garfield's face off. Garfield was using all his strength to keep a hold on his axe's handle to keep the creature from eating his face off. Garfield kicked the shadowmorph away and then swiftly chopped. Garfield then started to repeatedly send the axe down on the creature's body with anger in his eyes.
"Dude, Chill!" Zack screamed as he saw his best friend butcher the shadow creature repeatedly "Garfield Stop!" Garfield sent one last chop to the deceased creature as it then evaporated into black smoke, then completely vanished. "Dude, calm yourself"
"I'm sorry Zack… I-"
"You don't have to say a thing dude, that's what these things do, they make you go mad. Just search for the blueprints so I can scan it with the tele-shades."
"I feel like a monster dude"
"We're going to get through this together, okay"
Garfield gulped and then breathed out air he didn't know he was holding "Okay…"
"Go find the blueprints dude… everything's going to be okay"
"How's It Going To Be Okay?!" Garfield yelled, making the shadowmorphs roared
"It won't be if you don't calm down, these things have twenty-twenty hearing. Just find the blueprints."
"Okay… okay…" Garfield searched around the booth and after a while of searching, he managed to find the blueprints.
"Hold them steady dude" Zack said as he started to scan the blueprints into his computer and into Garfield's tele-glasses "Alright, copied them. Now you're going to have to get down to the first level"
"Where those things are?! Are you high!?" Garfield whispered to his friend
"You're basically a ninja, dude. Distract them with noise and make your way down there." Zack said
Garfield nodded and took a step just to kick something. He looked down to see a hairspray can. Garfield looked under the DJ station to see a box of hairspray; the spray gave him an idea. He grabbed a few cans and put them through the holders of his body strap, then opened some drawers that were in the booth and found a lighter and some duct tape, making him smirk. He reached into his pocket to take out the lighter he grabbed before coming here; never know when you're going to need one. Garfield then took out one of the cans from the box, then grabbed the duct tape and taped the lighter to the spray can. He lit the lighter and then aimed the handmade item up and pressed the top of the can and sprayed, and thanks to the lighter, instead of regular spray, out came a streak of fire. Garfield smirked as he capped the lighter and placed the new weapon inside one of his holders. Garfield found some beer bottles as well and thought that they would come in handy. Garfield then put the axe in the back holster, and then took some bandages from the first-aid kit and wrapped bandages around both his hands and forearms, took out a double sided hook and clipped it around one of his pant holes and used the other half to clip on the extra untouched first-aid kit there was in the booth. Garfield was ready for action.
Garfield carefully creaked open the door to check out the other side to see a whole group of shadowmorphs trekking around the V.I.P. room. 'Not going out through there' Garfield thought as he carefully closed the door. Garfield looked at the cables that he cut and then turned to see the other cables holding the stereos and others in some boxes. He smirked at this.
Garfield tied some of the cables to a giant stereo that was being held in place by numerous other cables, and threw the tied cables over the railing and started to climb down. As he got down to the second level, he carefully sneaked around the place, keeping his night vision on.
"Man, this is pretty creepy, huh?" Zack said, startling Garfield
"Dude, you almost gave me a heart attack" Garfield said holding the left side of his chest
"Sorry. Anyway, you have to get down to the first floor and find the door to the basement, next to one of the bars." Zack told him
Garfield looked down around the first floor to see the shadowmorphs trekking around the place. Garfield saw a bar, but he actually saw three of them "Uh, Zack… there's more than one"
"There's a smoke machine near the one you're looking for. Let me help." Zack said. Garfield nodded as he looked at the three bars. First one, nothing. Second one, nada. The third, nothing either. "What the hell?!" Zack took a look at the blueprints again "Yo Gar, there's another one underneath you"
"Fantastic" Garfield then took out one of the beer bottles he had, uncapped it and then started chugging it all down.
"Is this really a time for drinking?" Zack said
"Like I'd let perfectly good booze go to waste" Garfield said as he continued to finish the drink off. He then carefully walked down the stairs gripping the bottle in his hand. When he made it to the bottom, he threw the bottle with all him might. The bottle soared through the air, before it hit a wall. Garfield ducked underneath a table as all the shadowmorphs ran to the origin of the noise. Garfield looked around the place again to see a fourth bar, and there was the door. "Bingo" Garfield said. As Garfield saw the coast was clear, he quickly and silently made his way to the bar. He made it to the door, he quickly opened the door and went inside, before silently closing it. "These things can't use doors, can they?" Garfield asked Zack.
"Well, not really" Zack said. Garfield sighed with relief. "They like to travel through vents." Garfield just groaned. "Uh oh…"
"What now?" Garfield was afraid to ask
"It would seem that the ventilation system connects to the basement" Zack said
"Just what I needed, the public station for these things" Garfield said making his way down the stairs "Anything else I should know about these things?"
"Well, if they're anything like the ones in the game, then there are different types of these things." Zack said
"Like what?"
"Babies with tentacles, ones with a whip like tail with a stinger at the tip instead of legs and hands to crawl with, giant ones that are the size of gorillas"
"Seriously?! That sounds like one intense game" Garfield said, hoping he doesn't run into a gorilla sized shadowmorph
"Oh yeah, really knows how to freak you out with all the claustrophobic areas and keeps you on your toes with all the jump scares"
Garfield finally made it to the basement door and put his hand on the handle "Any last piece of advice before I go into the 'nightmare zone'"
"Uh, yeah… the necromorphs love playing possum" Zack said
"Thanks Zack, but considering those things turn into smoke when they die, I think that advice is pretty useless"
"Oh, right… sorry" Zack apologized
Garfield carefully opened the door, and walked inside. He was in a corridor, luckily for him there was lighting, but only the red lighting. "Good, at least there's light in here" Garfield said taking off his tele-shades and put them in one of the holsters on his body strap, then started to carefully walk deeper into the corridor. As he walked deeper in, he immediately stopped when he heard a roar deeper inside the place. Garfield quickly grabbed his axe and took it out of the holster, ready for anything. Garfield started to carefully tiptoe deep into the corridor into, his heart racing.
"Ch, ch, ch, ch, ch, ch, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ch, ch, ch, ch, ch-"
"Zack" Garfield growled
"Sorry, it's habit. Whenever my heart races and my nerves tingle, I just remember the theme for Jason Voorhees" Zack said
Garfield made it to the corner of the corridor. He breathed in and out, trying to calm his nerves. He carefully used the metal of his axe and used it as a mirror to see what there was around the corner. As he looked at the reflection of the metal, he saw something quickly crawl passed the hall. "Uh… Zack"
"Yeah?"
"Did you say something about a crawling enemy earlier?"
"Uh, yeah, one with a whip-like tail with a stinger at the tip, why?"
Suddenly a shadow creature with a tail for the lower half of it's body came out of the vent on top of Garfield and brought him down to the ground with him. Garfield grabbed the shadowmorph's head, keeping it from biting his face off, but the creature's stinger tail was raised up and was sent down towards Garfield. Garfield kept moving his head away from the tail's stinger that kept repeatedly trying to stab his face. Garfield saw his axe was at the side of them, Garfield tried to reach for it, but the shadowmorph's tail stabbed him in the shoulder. Garfield gritted his teeth and groaned from the pain. Suddenly he started seeing red, and it wasn't from the lights, he gripped the shadowmorph's head, brought it away from his face and then he slammed his head onto the shadowmorph's, delivering a successful head-butt. He then quickly grabbed his hairspray lighter combo and sprayed fire in the shadowmorph's face, making it scream in agony. The shadowmorph fell off of Garfield, giving the teen the advantage of grabbing his axe. He quickly got up and raised it up high, and then slammed it down, cutting the creatures head off, and then continued to chop it into pieces, until it evaporated into black smoke. Garfield was panting as he wiped the sweat off his forehead.
"Dude, are you okay?" Zack asked
Garfield started to inhale through his nose and exhale out his mouth, trying to calm his heart rate "Y-yeah, I'm just a little cold"
"Oh shit, no" Zack said scared thinking the worst
"Not like that dude, I mean… wait a minute… Zack I think we got a problem" Garfield said
"What? what's wrong?" Zack asked worried
"Can you hack into the camera systems of this place?" Garfield asked
"Give me a sec." Zack said typing away trying to connect to the cameras in The Jump, but he couldn't "Shit… I can't… there's no power…"
"As I expected… I should've realized the entire power was off with how cold it was getting" Garfield said "Looks like I'm off to the generator first" Garfield said "Zack"
"On it" Zack started to go through the blueprints again "Okay. All you got to do is go to your right and then turn left and keep going straight until you go down to a lower level. I'll guide you when you get down there." Garfield nodded as he walked down the right corridor with axe in hand. He then walked down the corridor, and then he turned left and kept going straight. As he kept walking, he found a staircase and went down it. As he climbed down the stairs, Garfield heard roars from the creatures echoing the entire place. He didn't know where they were coming from, but he didn't care. All he wants was to finish this nightmare.
"Zack… I made it to the bottom" Garfield said making it to the bottom of the stairs, now standing on a platform railing
"Alright, keep going straight, and once you pass three pathways, turn right at the fourth and-" Zack's voice then cut off, replaced by static
"Zack?... Zack?... shit" Garfield said as he continued forward. As Garfield was walking down the route he was given, he continued to hear the static in his ears, and also roars from the shadowmorphs echoing everywhere. As Garfield made it to the fourth pathway, he was about to walk down that path when the static that was buzzing in his ears was silenced "Zack? Are you there? Where have you been man?" but all he could hear was silence "Zack?"
"… Hello, I'm going to kill you" said a little girl's voice "Hello, I'm going to kill you…. Hello, I'm going to kkkkkkkkkkiiiiiiiilllllll yyyyyyooooouuuuu" suddenly a pipe burst and steam attacked Garfield's face burning the side of his face "You better run…. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"
"HELP ME!" screamed a female's voice echoing in the halls
"RAAAARH!"
Garfield then started to run as fast as he could as the roars and screams many different voices continued
"You can't get away" the mysterious girl's voice said in his ears
"Shut Up!"
"You're just a little rabbit running away from the hunter" suddenly Garfield saw a flash of orange light and a shadowmorph's face, but he just kept running as it was an illusion "Just stay. Stay and die."
"LEAVE ME ALONE!" Garfield screamed. He suddenly tripped and fell onto the metal platform. His axe slid all the way to the edge and over the railing, but Garfield managed to grab it just in time. He tried pulling it out, but it just wouldn't budge. Suddenly he heard a roar from the path he just came from.
"They're coming for you." The girl's voice rang in his ears.
"Shut it"
"They're getting closer"
"I said shut up!"
"Step, step, step"
"I Said Shut Up!"
"Too bad your friends couldn't join you in death"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!"
"DON'T CURSE AT MEEEEEEE!" yelled a dark monstrous voice that started to screech in his ears. Garfield managed to pull the axe up and then took out the ear piece, but he still heard the screech. As the screech stopped, Garfield put the earcom back in his ear and started to move, but then suddenly a giant fist punched through the platform, making Garfield fall to the ground again. Garfield turned his body around and saw a giant pitch black fist go back down to the lower level. "What Wrong Garfield? Still Want Your Mommy?!" the monstrous voice rang in his ears. Garfield just made a break for it down the pathway. "Mommy and daddy can't save you Garfield. They aren't here anymore, remember?" Garfield just kept running.
"Mommy, mommy, where are you mommy?" said a little boys voice "Daddy, where's mommy?... Daddy?" suddenly flashes of a boat on fire came to his head. "Daddy?... where are you?" sounds of screams from a woman came to his head. "Mommy?... Daddy?... Where are you?... Did… did I do something wrong?" Garfield then started remembering the incident, the guilt and regret. "Am… am I… alone?" Garfield finally saw a door and reached for it "… I'm all alone…" Garfield quickly opened the door and slammed it shut and locked, before slamming his back onto it. Garfield slid down the door, sitting with back still on the door, and tears were pouring form his eyes.
"I'm all alone… I'm all alone…" Garfield repeated as the tears continued to pour from his eyes "... I'm all alone…I'm all alone… I'm all alone… I'm all alone…"
Suddenly Garfield started to hear a woman's voice singing.
"Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are, up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky.
When the blazing sun is gone, when the nothing shines upon, then you show your little light, twinkle, twinkle, all the night.
Then the traveler in the dark, thanks you for your little spark, he could not see which way to go, if you did not twinkle so.
When the blazing sun is gone, when the nothing shines upon, though I know not what you are, twinkle, twinkle little star."
As the song had finished, Garfield's eyes were shut as is whole world turned black.
Fire reflected onto young green eyes, as the boat the young green skinned child was on was burning. The boy looked on as a tall man with tan skin and jet black hair tried to use a fire extinguisher on the flames that surrounded the boat.
"It's no use" the man said "We're done for."
"Don't say that Mark" said a woman with shoulder length brunette hair
"Marie, you know that as much as I do that-"
"That's Enough Mark!" Marie yelled at her husband
"Mommy…" Marie looked down to her green skinned son "What's going on?"
"Nothing Garfield" she held her son close "Everything's going to be alright"
Mark watched as Marie lied to their only son, trying to calm the young changeling's nerves. Suddenly the engine exploded, which only meant one thing. "Garfield" Mark said his son's name "You have to go"
"W-what?" Garfield said in shock. Mark walked up to his son and bent down in front of him.
"Listen to me Garfield. You have to transform into a bird and fly away" Mark told his son
"But why?" Garfield asked. Mark put his hands on his only son's shoulders.
"Garfield, listen to your father" Marie told her son
"But mommy, I don't want to-"
"Don't Be Difficult Garfield!" Marie exclaimed silencing her son. "Just please…" Garfield looked up to his mother, seeing tears pouring out of her eyes "Please Garfield… just do as your father says… for mommy… please…" the last thing Garfield ever wanted was for his mother to cry, and he never wanted to see that in his entire life.
"Okay mommy… I'll listen…" Garfield said with sad eyes
"That's my good little Gar Gar" Marie said holding her son close to her in a tight embrace. Marie then decided to sing the little song she always sang to Garfield when she put him to bed.
Marie finished her song. Garfield had tears running down his face as his mother finished the song. "Garfield…" the young changeling looked up to his mother "… it's time to go"
"O-okay mommy…" Garfield said sobbing. His mother held him in a gentle, loving embrace.
"Mommy will always love you my little Gar Gar" Marie said holding her little child in her motherly hug. Garfield then felt his father put his hand on his head.
"Same goes for me sport. I will always be proud of you Garfield." Mark said with a smile. Garfield nodded as he had tears in his eyes. Marie released Garfield, meaning he had to leave now.
Garfield walked away from his parents, and took one last look of them before he transformed into a seagull and flew away.
Marie looked on as her only child started to fly away. Suddenly she heard ball room music. Marie turned around to see her husband turn on the radio and offer her his hand.
"May I have this dance?" Mark asked with a smile
"Do you even have to ask?" Marie said taking her husband's hand.
Mark put his hand arm around his wife's waist, and Marie place her hand on her husband's shoulder, and then the two started to slowly dance to the rhythm.
"Do you think he'll be alright?" Marie asked her husband still saddened to let her child go
"I'm sure of it. After all he is are son, and no matter where we are, or how far apart we are, we'll always be together in our hearts" Mark said with genuine belief in his son and the future
"Oh Mark" Marie said her husband's name with much love for him as she rest her head on his shoulder
Far away from the boat, Garfield was flying away back to shore, but he kept looking back at the boat. Then suddenly, the boat exploded. Garfield landed into the water, floating as he watched the boat his parents were on sank to the bottom of the ocean. Birds couldn't shed tears of sadness, but Garfield did. His beady black eyes shed tears of sadness as he watched the boat become consumed by the ocean. As he saw that the boat was no more and the flames had died out, he flew away back to shore, not knowing what to do or what the future entailed for the young green skinned changeling.
In an unknown dark place
Garfield was floating in a pool of darkness with no knowledge of how he had come here. 'Where am I? How did I get here? Am I dead? Is this the way to heaven? Or is it for hell? Or am I stuck in between? How did it turn out this way?' Garfield kept thinking of these questions as he floated it the sea of never ending darkness. Garfield then felt his back finally land gently on a floor, but the floor was also made of pure darkness. 'So this where I shall remain for the rest of my days… alone…' Garfield thought. He then sat up holding his knees "Alone, huh?" Garfield looked down at the dark floor "I guess that's how it was meant to be… for me…" Garfield's eyes were hollow and empty "Alone…" he buried his face in his knees "… I'm all alone…"
…
"You're not alone Garfield" a woman's gentle voice spoke "You never were, and you never will be."
Garfield lifted his face and had a tiny spark of hope in his eyes. He then felt to gentle arms wrap around his body from behind, giving him a gentle embrace.
"Like your father said, no matter where we are, or how far apart we are, we will always be together in our hearts" the woman's voice spoke.
"Mom?" Garfield wondered, and as he turned his head, he saw that his assumption were correct. His mother was by his side, holding him in an embrace that only a mother could give, with a genuine smile upon her face. Garfield then felt a hand on his head. He turned to see the other who had given him life. "Dad" Garfield said his father smiling at him with a genuinely proud smile.
"Always remember sport. People come and go, but they will never die as long as you remember them in not just your mind, but also in your heart." Mark said to his son.
"Not even the darkness itself can keep us apart." Marie said.
Garfield started to cry tears of happiness. He then grabbed both his parents and brought the two into a family hug "I love you guys."
"And we love you too, sport."
"Forever and ever, my little Gar Gar."
Garfield smiled and cried tears of joy, as all three of them were engulfed into a ray of light.
'I feel so calm… I don't feel alone… I feel so… Happy!'
At The Jump, at the bottom level
"Logan... Logan… Garfield, you have to wake up…" Garfield groaned as he started to open his eyes "Garfield, are you okay?!"
"Zack?" Garfield groaned he started to stretch and then rotated his shoulders, trying to rid himself of the stiffness "Dude, how long was I out?"
"Oh thank God. Dude, I lost the transmission, hours ago"
"Hours?" Garfield asked as he sat up and started tending to his wounds with the spare med kit he had
"It's 5:30 in the morning dude" Zack informed him
"And those things didn't find and kill me?" Garfield said in amazement, but his outer appearance looked tired and sounded it to "Must be a miracle."
"Where are you?" Zack asked
"I went down that pathway and made it to a door, and now I'm in…" Garfield looked up to a machine that looked like… "The generator room"
"Really? Put on your tele-glasses" Zack told him. Garfield did as he was told and put on his tele-shades, allowing Zack to see the machine. "You're right. It's the generator room; the things running on little reserves, which would explain the emergency red lighting."
"So what now?" Garfield asked as he stood up after bandaging himself
"Now, I need you to go to the generator, so I can guide you" Garfield nodded as he walked up to the machine. "Okay, first things first, pulled down all the levers" Garfield started to do as Zack said, until he finally flipped them all off. "Now I need you to turn off all the power." Garfield did so as he then flipped the power switch and turned off all the power, including the lights. Garfield then heard roars deep inside the basement, but he ignored them as he waited for his next orders. "Okay, I'm going to turn on your night vision, and write instruction in them so you know what to do" Zack said as he typed a sequence of buttons and turned on the night vision and then words started to appear on his lens. As Garfield started to do what the steps said, Zack was wondering what had happened while the connection was down. "So dude, what happened while the connection was cut?"
"Some scary shit." Garfield answered.
"What exactly?" Zack asked curiously
"Well, I was hearing static the whole time, until I made it to the fourth pathway. That's when the static stop, and I expected to hear your voice, but instead I heard some little girl's voice."
"Creepy… what did she say?"
"At first there was silence, but then I heard her say 'Hello, I'm going to kill you' over and over again, and then a pipe burst with steam and burnt my face a bit and then I heard her say 'You better run' and then she laughed like a maniac, and after that I heard some random woman's voice scream for help echoing in the entire place and then a loud roar from one of those things… that's when I ran. The roars were getting louder, and the screams from random people echoed around the place. The little girl's voice rang in my ears, saying I couldn't get away, I was a rabbit running from the hunter, it was no use to run, they were getting closer, and that it was too bad that my friends couldn't join me in death. I cursed at her, and then her voice was replaced with a monstrous one that yelled and screeched at me. Then a giant fist came from under the platform, and then I just book it, making my way to the end of the pathway. Then that monstrous voice came back, insulting me with wanting my mom, and that my parents aren't here anymore, then I started hearing a young boy's voice, trying to find his parents, saying he was alone… like me… I felt that the boy was me… wanting his parents back, but of course he never would get that little wish... then I made it in here, locked the door, and cried in sorrow and fear… and that's when I heard this woman singing." Garfield paused as he remembered the song.
As Garfield finished his story, taking out the little dream he had afterwards, all he heard was silence on the other end.
"Dude, I don't know what's freakier, the experience you had, or the fact that you know the entire lyrics to that song by hearing it in just one go." Zack said freaked out after hearing the whole thing.
"I didn't mesmerize the whole thing after hearing that strange creepy bitch sing. That was the same exact song my mom used to sing to me back when her and my dad were still around."
"Oh… sorry man"
"Don't worry about Zack, no matter where they are, or how far apart they are from me, they are still together with me in my heart and in their own as well." Garfield said with a smile on his face.
"That was beautiful dude" Zack said with a smile
"You know what else is beautiful?"
"What?"
"This!" Garfield then pulled the lever and the back-up power was on again.
"Beautiful!" Zack exclaimed as he hacked into the cameras and could see everything going on in The Jump "All power is back on line, except for the lights of course"
"Alright, now where do I go to find the switch to turn the lights back on?" Garfield asked
"All you got to do is go back the way you came, and head straight down the path opposite of what you took where that leaper ambushed you." Zack said
"Okay, good. What idiot chose for the back-up light switch to be on the other side of the basement from the generator?" Garfield asked.
Suddenly the alarm for the basement went off.
"What The Hell?!" Garfield yelled
"You won't get out of here alive Wolf!" the shadow from earlier exclaimed; it's voice echoed everywhere
"Oh shit." Garfield cursed
"Don't Just Stand There! Move Your Ass!" Zack yelled in his friend's ear.
Garfield quickly unlocked the door and ran out, but a shadowmorph from his left side sent a claw strike at him, but Garfield ducked just in time and used his axe to cut off the creature's arm and head, making it fall and evaporate into black smoke. Garfield then started to run back down the pathway he took, as he heard shadowmorphs roaring behind him. As Garfield made it midway, a giant hand came out of the hole from earlier, trying to grab him, but Garfield jumped over the hand and landed safely on the other side and started booking it as he heard a giant loud roar from the lower level. Garfield then turned left and kept on running straight ahead, dodging shadowmorphs that kept coming out of the vents and sharp spike claws coming from the bottom level, stabbing right through the metal platform. Garfield kept chopping left and right, cutting off shadowmorph limbs as he raced to the stairs. As he made it to the stairs, he started climbing them, but a shadowmorph cut his leg making him trip a bit. Garfield grabbed his fire spray and blew fire into the shadowmorph's face making the creature roar in agony and jump back. Garfield quickly got up and started running up the steps with a limp. As he made it to the top, he ran straight ahead, then he turned right and continued to run straight.
"When you get to the end of the corridor, take the right path and as you continue straight-" Zack's voice was interrupted by a large dark tentacle coming from the right left path reach for Garfield's leg and start to drag him away. Garfield was frightened not knowing what to do as he was drug towards the end of the hall, but his keen eye spotted a purple bloated part on the tentacle. Garfield gripped his axe and threw it at the purple point and as it hit, the tentacle was cut in half. The severed tentacle holding Garfield's leg had disappeared into black smoke. Garfield grabbed his axe and ran the other way, heading for the room where the emergency light switch was.
"This is one damn long corridor, so just keep running" Zack said.
Garfield kept running, until suddenly a giant spike of darkness appeared out of the side of the wall "What the-"
"Ignore It! Just Keep Running!" Zack exclaimed.
Garfield ducked under the spike and continued to run down the hall as spike kept appearing out of the walls, floor and ceiling. Garfield earned a few cuts here and there, but they never hit anything vital.
"I don't just want you to bleed" said the shadow's voice echoing in the hall "I Want You To Die Too!" the shadow exclaimed as it then laughed maniacally
"Dude, there's going to be another pathway on you right. Straight down there is a door that will lead you into a corridor with doors leading to different rooms; one of those doors leads to the emergency light switch." Zack said.
As Logan got deeper into the hallway, he saw the next pathway. He then took a right, and was met with a group of shadowmorphs. Garfield was so sick of these things that he subconsciously sent Qi to his hands and arms giving him more power in his swings. The shadowmorphs lost their heads and limbs from the powerful swings of the axe, and as their bodies fell to the ground, they dissolved into black smoke. Garfield ran straight down the hall and made it to the door. Garfield ran inside and slammed the door, ending up in a corridor with several doors in it, just like Zack said.
"Zack… I'm here…" Garfield said panting as he bent over, hands on his knees
"Dude, are you okay?" Zack asked with concern
"Did you really have to ask? I'm bleeding out dude…" Garfield said still panting
"Sorry. Just take the third door on your left." Zack told him.
Garfield limped down the corridor passing some doors, until he made it to the third one on the right. Garfield opened the door and went inside. As he closed the door, he looked straight ahead to see the emergency light switch, which was a lever. 'Bingo.' Garfield thought as he started to limp ahead, but suddenly a dark spike appeared in front of him. Suddenly, pure pitch black darkness started to appear on the walls, floor and ceiling of the room. The darkness started to come to one spot in front of Garfield. The giant black spot started to rise into the air and start to take a form. The darkness grew into a large being, almost as large as the room; it had a muscular human torso, four arms with spiked coming out of the forearms, a tail coming out of it's lower back, and a long head, that had four purple eyes, sharp teeth, and a long black spike coming out the back of it's head.
"I see you finally made your way to the light switch room, eh Wolfy?" the shadow laughed maniacally
"Damn, you've gotten big over the night, huh?" Garfield said not losing his composure
"Why yes I have. Thank you for noticing." The shadow said
"So honestly, who are you, where did you get the idea for the whole monster scene, and why aren't you dying from this light?" Garfield asked
"My name is Zirgrig, but you may call me Lights Out, and this little club of horrors came from this violent and horrifying game I so happened to come across and observe as I made my way to Jump City. You humans maybe idiotic, but you sure know how to make a thrilling spectacle to scare the crap out of the rest of your kind. When I am surrounded by darkness, I gain more power, such as shaping the shadows themselves into any physical form, and this red light does not harm me at all, only bright shining light can harm me."
"Such as necromorphs?"
"Creatures that once were human who had their humanity taken away, that enjoy claustrophobic environments, and bring both physical and psychological damage to their victims; how could I resist?" Lights Out said with much delight
"You're just as psychotic as Blinding; probably even more crazy than that wingnut" Garfield said
"Whatever, let's get started, shall we?" Lights Out said as he clenched his dark shadow fists
"Let's!" Garfield quickly took out his flashlight gun and shine the bright light at Light's Out, but a hole appear around his torso, saving him from the sting of the light "What the-"
"Nice try" Lights Out said as he then used one of his fists to punch Garfield into the wall. As Garfield fell to the ground, he saw one of Lights Out's giant hands try to slam him, but Garfield managed to roll away. As the hand slammed into the floor, Garfield took his axe and went for a vertical chop, attempting to cut Lights Out's hand off, but the axe just went right through it without cutting anything, it just fazed through. "Weapons aren't going to work either." Lights Out said as the spikes on his forearm extended and tried to stab Garfield, but the teen hero jumped away in time, but failed to see the other giant fist punch him and sent him in the wall next to the door. Garfield fell to the ground; he then picked himself up, hands and knees holding up from the ground
"How the hell do I beat him?" Garfield whispered to himself
"By turning on that damn switch, dude!" Zack exclaimed
"But how? He's blocking my way" Garfield said as he looked up at the giant shadow that kept chuckling with amusement
"Figure something out, you always come up with a good idea in these situations" Zack said, hoping his friend comes up with something fast.
Garfield tried thinking of a plan on how to get passed him. He then spotted his flashlight gun and came up with an idea; he didn't have to get passed him, he just had to go through him. As a giant shadow fist came down on Garfield, the young hero rolled out of the way and grabbed his flashlight gun.
"Oh come on, don't you remember what happened just as we got started?" Lights Out said
"Oh I remember alright" Garfield said as he started running towards Lights Out. The giant living shadow was about to crush the badly injured hero with his two palms, but Garfield aimed his flashlight gun at Lights Out and then shined a beam of light at the shadow, making the dark creature create a hole in it's torso, allowing Garfield to jump right through the hole. Garfield jumped right through the hole, landing on the other side and then flashed his light on Lights Out's face that turned and faced him. The shadow covered it's face in agony as it felt the rays of the light burn his face. Garfield then made a break for it, and reached the switch, but then suddenly, Garfield was pierced in the arm and torso by spikes. He turned around to see Lights Out still covering it's face with two of it's arms, with one of it's arms extended at Garfield, spikes coming out of it.
"I will not lose. I will not allow you to turn on the light." Lights Out then transformed into a giant worm-like creature with sharp teeth, and tentacle coming out of it's body. "I… Hate… THE LIGHT!" the newly transformed Lights Out yelled
"You poor thing…" Garfield grunted as he grabbed the light switch box "Please… let me be the first…" Garfield then grabbed the lever to the emergency lights "To Show You The Light!" Garfield then flipped the switch.
Lights Out yelled as bright shining light struck him. He started to shrink as his form began to deteriorate. The spikes that had stabbed Garfield pulled away from his flesh and dissolve into black smoke. Lights Out had slowly, but surely shrunk down to his original size, but he continued to shrink as he screamed in agony, until he turned into nothing, but black smoke.
Garfield smiled and chuckled a bit as he fell to the ground. He placed his back against the wall as he smiled at the sight of the light. Garfield looked up at the light bulb that was giving him bright shining light with a genuine happy smile on his face. 'The light…' Garfield thought as his eyes started to get heavy 'It's so beautiful… so incredible… thank you God, for letting me see it one more time' Garfield thanked his lord as his whole world then turned black.
7:30 am, in front of The Jump
The sun was out and shining it gorgeous rays on the day, which was the perfect time for the police to storm into The Jump.
The police of Jump City had their cars parked in front of The Jump, keeping civilians from getting near the place. The S.W.A.T. team had arrived, four trucks carrying groups of armed S.W.A.T. were parked in front of The Jump. As the teams got out of the trucks, they march all the way towards the door. As one of them informed the others that the door was not able to be opened, a group went and grabbed a ram and used it to break through the door. As the S.W.A.T. team went inside they had their guns armed and ready.
"There's nothing in here." One of the S.W.A.T. soldiers said
"True, but there was something that trashed the place." Another S.W.A.T. soldier said as he saw all the broken glasses, spilled drinks, trashed furniture; basically the whole place looks like the aftermath of a frat party, except whatever was here clawed at everything.
As the S.W.A.T. checked everywhere on the first second and third floor, some decided to check downstairs. As a group of S.W.A.T. checked down in the basement, they found some blood inside the first corridor.
"You five go left, we'll go right." Ordered a S.W.A.T. soldier as he went down the left pathway.
"Which way now?" asked a S.W.A.T. soldier seeing two paths to go to
"Down there" another S.W.A.T. soldier pointed to the right "There's a blood trail there, we might be able to find a survivor down there." All the others nodded as they made their way down the right pathway, following the blood trail. As they followed the trail of blood down the path, then turned left down another, through a door and finally in front of one of the many doors in the new corridor they were in.
"Be ready for anything." Said a S.W.A.T. soldier as they all prepared for whatever was behind the other side of the door. As one of the soldier kicked in the door, they all went in and found a badly injured young man next to an axe. "Grant, check the kick. Polanski, the axe." The S.W.A.T. soldier ordered two of his fellow teammates. The two nodded and did as they were told. "How's the kid?" the S.W.A.T. soldier asked
"He's severely injured, he's bled out a good portion of his blood, and his pulse is weak, but he'll live with the right medical attention." Grant said
"And the axe?" the S.W.A.T. soldier asked Polanski
"It's been used, and by the looks on this deep scratch here, on something not too friendly, but what's strange is that there's no blood on it, not even a tiny spec" Polanski informed the others
"Curtis, we've got to get the kid a doctor" Grant said.
Curtis nodded as he helped Grant pick up the kid. "Let's move out." Curtis ordered as they started making their way back to the upper level.
At the Hospital
Everything was dark, but was then replaced with light as he awoke from his long slumber and looked at the white ceiling that he recognized in a heartbeat 'The hospital… great…' Garfield thought with dull eyes as he sat up.
"GARFIELD!"
Suddenly the young man was tightly embraced by a young female "Terra?" Garfield saw that the girl who was hugging him was the blonde earth manipulator
"Good to have you back brother"
Garfield looked up to see Zack, Tiffany, and Jillian there "Hey guys, where are the Titans?"
"Cyborg and Robin are at The Jump searching for any sign of the shadow, while Raven and Starfire are at the tower" Zack answered his best friend
"Anyway, What The H Happened To You?!" Tiffany exclaimed, bummed out that she missed out on the whole thing
"I think it's best if you did not know Tiff" Garfield said, making the young brunette pout.
Terra moved away from Garfield, so that Jillian could be right next to him
"Hey Jill" Garfield said with a nervous smile. He then got punched in the shoulder by the pinkette "Ow!"
"That was for scaring me" Jillian scolded him. Garfield felt bad about scaring her, but then that guilt was replaced with fluster as Jillian hugged Garfield in a gentle embrace "I'm so happy that you're still alive" she said as she then pulled back and smirked at him "You still owe me that dinner after all" she said making Garfield blush and scratch the back of his head in embarrassment.
Suddenly Zack got a call on his tele-glasses that were promptly placed on his head. Zack put his tele-glasses over his eyes to see Cyborg "Hey Cyborg, what's going on?"
"Is BB with you?" Cyborg asked with some worry in his voice
"Yeah, why?" Zack asked
"I checked for any signatures or samples inside the emergency light room, and I found out that the shadow isn't here"
"Well isn't that good? Doesn't that mean he's destroyed?"
"No, if he was destroyed then I'd be able to pick up a hint of something, but nothing, which can only mean one thing"
"Uh oh…" Zack said
"Uh oh, what Zack?" Garfield asked concerned about what was wrong
"Uh, don't freak out, but there might be tiny chance that the shadow is still alive" Zack informed them
"WHAT?!" they all yelled
"He could be after Garfield" Tiffany said freaking the other girls out, but Garfield remained calm
'But if he was still alive and he would come after me, then I wouldn't be breathing right now… so I'm not his target… then…" Garfield's eyes widened in realization 'Uh oh' Garfield quickly got out of bed at went to find his clothes
"Garfield, you shouldn't be out of bed" Jillain said with worry
"Yeah, I mean that shadow might be trying to find you" Tiffany said
"It's not after me" Garfield said as he found his clothes, getting looks from the others
At Titans Tower, Raven's room
Raven was sitting on her bed, not being able to get what the shadow from yesterday told her.
'Blinding… my twin… if that's true… then how come I can't remember you?' Raven thought 'Actually, now that I think about it. There are some memories of my life that are… missing. Could those lost memories be of you?' Raven wondered. Suddenly the young goth felt a dark presence in her room. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" Raven shouted her spell, sending black magic towards the dark presence, only to hear wicked laughter. Raven stopped her spell as she knew it was doing nothing.
"Oh please don't stop on my account" a familiar voice spoke. Suddenly rising out from the shadows was the living shadow from yesterday.
"You!" Raven said with much fear and distain
"Yes, it is little old me" the shadow spoke
"What Do You Want?!" Raven exclaimed
"Oh nothing, just checking to see if you were still alive" the shadow said nonchalantly
"That's Not Funny!" Raven yelled
"I'm not joking" the shadow said "Blinding sent me here to make sure that you weren't dead"
"Then what about last night?!" Raven reminded him
"He also said that if I see the Midnight Wolf, then I got the okay to kill him. After your friend without the mask tried to save you, I put two and two together, so I stayed and caused havoc so I could get a chance to kill him." The shadow then laugh maniacally. Raven shot some of her black magic at the shadow, but he didn't flinch as it made contact, he just absorbed it like a sponge "Your power only makes me stronger Raven. It's no use to try and fight me when all your attacks benefit me more than they are supposed to benefit you." Raven was angry, but she just forgot about it and started thinking of her supposed twin brother
"Why does Blinding even care about my life; I thought he wanted me dead." Raven said with sad eyes
"Oh, but he does wish for your death, only by his hands of course" the shadow said
"Why… why does he hate me?!" Raven raised her voice not understanding why her brother loathed her
"It's because of your people Rachel" the shadow said appearing behind her, making her gasp at the fact that he knew her real name "When the time came, your people were fed up with you and your brother, so they had decided to be rid of the two of you once and for all; but your sweet mother came and convinced the Azarathians that you two should not be banished. In the end they agreed that the both of you shouldn't be sent away into the dark depths, but instead they decided that one should leave while the other stayed and live in peace. Guess who was the lucky one to be chosen from being banished." The shadow said with a toothy grin.
"No…" Raven said as her eyes widened
"Yes Rachel, you were chosen to stay, but Blinding was sent away, banished into the demon realm where they believe would be where he should die, but of course, he proved them wrong by surviving and becoming the most powerful demon that ever lived, next to your father of course. Oh, but I forgot my favorite part. In order for the Azarathians to never hear about Blinding ever again, they placed a spell on you. A spell that locks away someone's memories." Ravne's eyes widened at the news. "Your memories of Blinding are still in there. I'm actually surprised that the Azarathians would do such cruel actions, but I guess even the most predictable fool can surprise others in the long run. Poor Raven, it's pretty much your fault."
"Shut Up!" Raven yelled sending black magic to the shadow, only for it to absorb it again
"Your people, your ways, and yes, your mother, was the reason Blinding came to be." The shadow said "And even though he has become quite powerful, Blinding still wishes to exterminate your life, in hopes that the painfully memory of the past dies along with you."
"That's impossible" Raven said looking at the ground with sad eyes
"I know, but I'll never tell him. The destruction he brings gives me chills and thrills, and a big, huge toothy grin on my face." The shadow said.
"You're Just Using His Emotions For Entertainment!" Raven yelled with so much anger inside of her
"No Raven… I am assisting him in getting stronger, and getting him the help he needs. Something that your people had never done for him, and of course have never done for you as well." The shadow said "Poor Raven… still believing in a lie, and not accepting the truth… your life is pathetic."
"Shut up" Raven started to cry
"You are pathetic"
"I Said Shut Up!"
"You are worthless"
"SHUT UP!" Raven screamed as dark magic started to surround her and then explode only leaving a flash, before everything was back to normal, but she still heard the shadow's voice talking
"Even if Trigon may be gone, you are never truly free Raven; and that is all thanks to the people who swore to protect you" the shadow's voice echoed
Suddenly the door slid open and in came Robin. He saw Raven on her bed crying actual tears. Robin ran up to her with worry. "Raven, what's wrong? What happen? Are you-" before Robin could continue, Raven quickly wrapped her arms around him, hugging him. As she held him close, she cried on his shoulder, and he allowed it, letting her cry 'til her heart's content.
Later at the Tower's Main Room
"So that's all, huh?" Cyborg said
"Yep. After Logan called and said that the shadow might attack Raven, I raced back here on my motorcycle and made it to her room." Robin said
"Where she had held you and cried the tears of sadness?" Starfire asked, getting a confirming nod from Robin
"And then that's it? She told you nothing else?" Garfield asked, getting a head shake from Robin in response "Can't really blame her. That shadow really knows how to get inside your head."
"I think Raven might be a little more distant for a while after what just happened" Robin said
"Then what shall we do until then?" Starfire asked worried about her best friend
"All we can do is be there for her when she needs us Star" Cyborg said "And when she's ready to talk, we'll be listening"
Garfield grabbed his necklace and tightened his grip on it, swearing that the next time he sees Blinding or that shadow, he'll deliver a punch and/or bright light beam just for Raven.
Inside Raven's room
The young pale skinned girl laid on her bed, hugging her pillow with her sheets covering her body. She dreamt of a strange dream, or more like a… memory.
10 years ago on Azarath
Young Raven sat on the floor hugging her knees crying as people in white robes passed her by.
"There she is. Trigons daughter." Said a woman walking with a man
"Ignore her, she's just-" the man started to say, but was interrupted
"Just a What?!" exclaimed a boy with pale skin boy with violet eyes and hair that was spiked up a bit in the front, and he had a black and red diamond shaped gemstone on his forehead. The young boy wore a black hooded cloak, black long sleeved shirt, black pants and black shoes. The pale boy just glare at the man, daring him to finish that sentence.
"Let's just go" the woman said as she and the man walked away
"Yeah, that's what I thought" the boy said as he turned to the little girl sitting down "Rachel, the monks have been wondering where you were. What happened?"
"I ran away" she said
"Why?" the boy asked
"Why Not?!" Raven yelled to the boy "No matter what happens, and no matter what they say, they all still see us as monsters!"
"So?" the boy said getting Raven's attention "That's what they think, but just because that's what they see us doesn't mean that that's exactly what we are."
"What do you mean?" Raven asked
"Well people say I like to destroy everything I care about, but you and mom are still here" he said with a smile on his face "Does that sound like a monster to you?"
"No." Raven answered shaking her head
"See. I'm not a monster and neither are you." The boy said. The boy always knew what to say to make her happy.
"Angelo… I'm scared to go back." Raven said holding her knees tighter. Then she say Angelo's hand extend to her.
"Then we'll go back together. After all it is a brother's job to watch over his sister" Angelo said with a smile. Raven smiled as she took his hand and was lifted to her feet. "Let's go back together Rachel." Raven nodded in agreement as she walked away with her brother by her side all the way.
Raven's room
As Raven kept on dreaming she spoke a single name as she slept.
"Angelo."
End of Chapter 11
Boy that was long and exhausting. Anyway, I hope you like the little Dead Space crossover I did for this chapter. I figured, hey if I'm going to make a chapter of a killer shadow, why not make it scary and give some psychological terror. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it, and see you next time.
