Lost: ...
Elesis: ...wow. You sure left this story abandoned a really long time.
Lost: ...yup.
Elesis: And you left it with a cliffhanger. Just... damn.
Lost: ...yup.
Elesis: Are you saying anything to the others?
Lost: ...nope.
Elesis: You'll try to avoid them, won't you?
Lost: Pretty much.
Elesis: Makes sense. I'd try to kill you too if I was in this story.
Lost: I know.
Elesis: ...so when are you adding me?
Lost: I'll see how it goes. For now, let me just finish this one.
Add: How about me?
Lost: You be quiet. You'll get your turn too. Maybe.
Part 1 - Chapter 10: Evacuation
Location: Elder
Deep's POV
"That's not a goon! That's not a goon!" Davis screamed as we tried to run away from the massive monstrosity that was chasing us through the burning city. "That's definitely not a goon!"
"Geez, good observation skills, Davis..." I replied sarcastically. "Hey! Maybe you could use them to, I don't know... HELP US STOP THE FREAKING THING!"
I gave a quick glance behind us. Effectively, the huge white monster was still chasing us, roaring and baring its teeth like a hungry... well, I'm not sure what to compare it with. White, big, with red horns and purple glowing scales all over...
"Look out! It's firing it again!"
Oh yeah. And it shot lasers out of its eye... which for some reason is inside its mouth.
"Guys we can't keep running like this," Woody pointed out after the laser destroyed a few buildings in its path, right where we had been mere seconds before. "We have to stop this thing before it turns this city into a pile of rubble!"
"And how are we supposed to do that!?" To be honest, I wasn't particularly happy with the results we were having so far. I don't think anyone was, actually. "We already tried everything! It just doesn't want to stop!"
"That's why we have to think, Deep! Rushing towards it like madmen is only going to help us end up in its mouth!"
"In it's mouth..." I could tell by the tone in John's voice that he was starting to come up with an idea, which wasn't very surprising. What was surprising, is that he not only stopped running almost instantly, but he also took Henry along with him. "Got it! Henry, stay here! You guys stay hidden nearby!"
"What the- John, are you insane!?" Henry struggled in vain, trying to break free from the magician's grip while the rest of us hid behind nearby buildings. "Don't you dare feed me to that thing! I swear to God-"
"I'm not feeding you to it, you idiot!" John yelled, then pointed at the approaching creature and then mumbled something to Henry in a lower voice. "You guys get ready to move out!"
The lazy archer was clearly about to wet himself, but he let out a sigh and nodded. As the monster finally reached them and tried to attack, Henry quickly drew an arrow, set it on fire, and shot it right inside the thing's mouth... and in the middle of its eye.
"Bullseye!" As the now blinded monster roared in pain, John turned towards us with a smirk on his face. "Now's your chance! It can't see!"
"John, you clever bastard!" I shouted at the magician, at the same time that Firen winced after shouting something along the lines of "nice job, hotshot", or something like that, before retreating back to hiding for a couple more seconds to make sure he wasn't getting shot again. "Now let's get rid of this thing once and for all!"
And so we charged at it.
Dennis' POV
Upon leaving the building, the three of us started moving swiftly through the streets of Elder. Surprisingly, even with the entire city in flames, the streets were oddly silent in that area, except for loud roars echoing not to far away, but the streets were almost empty, which allowed us to navigate it easier... sort of. To be honest, Echo took care of the navigation after I got lost a couple of times. Dewon, on the other hand, kept walking behind us perfectly silent, so he wasn't being particularly helpful. In fact... he didn't look like he was doing too well.
"What was I thinking?" I could hear him complain behind me as we walked through streets and alleyways. "Coat... tight jeans... boots... might as well be wearing a straitjacket."
"Trouble with your clothes?" I looked at Dewon with a slightly concerned look. "I think you look quite badass."
"That's what the lady who sold me all this stuff said..." Dewon let out a sigh and shook his head. "But now I realize it's a stupid combination. It's hot, uncomfortable, and the pockets are so small!"
"Don't worry about all that," Maybe if I encouraged him a bit he wouldn't mind his clothes so much. "Once we're out of here, we're getting you baggier clothes."
"Down here," Echo stopped in front of a manhole cover, then looked around for a couple of seconds. "I heard there's an underground waterway that leads outside of the city, as well as to the castle."
"Cool!" I immediately removed the cover and jumped right in. I probably wouldn't have fallen on top of a puddle and slipped if I had used the ladder instead. "...I'm okay!"
"What in the world is that smell?" After carefully climbing down the stairs, Dewon clenched his own nose and looked around. "It smells like somebody died here!"
"It's a sewer," Echo noted rather bluntly, starting to walk in one direction after she descended. "Sewers usually smell bad."
"Well... at least we are safe now," I stated calmly as we started following her through the waterway. "Outskirts, here we go!"
Location: Underground Waterway Exit
Rena's POV
"Well, you should be safe now. Follow that road until you reach Bethma, then look for a woman called Stella and inform her what happened. She'll take care of the rest."
After briefly thanking the six of us, the villagers started walking towards Bethma, while we headed back to keep evacuating people. Eve had the great idea of using the underground waterway to sneak people out of the village without bumping into Julian and whatever those things he controlled were.
"Ophelia. Please make sure those people arrive safely to Bethma," Eve ordered her nasod guard, who promptly nodded and dashed outside of the waterway. "Stay here, Oberon. I will need your help with the evacuation."
"Well... I hate to say this, but... there might not be any people left." Ara looked down with a sad look on her face. "It feels like Fahrmann all over again..."
"If all of us were here, maybe we'd have been able to hold off the attack," Elsword frowned, clenching his fists. "We have fought against armies of demons before! I'm sure we could've done it!"
"Remember what John said, Elsword..." I intervened before he could get himself hyped up and tried to do something reckless. "According to him, it took a lot of people to fight that guy alone. And now he apparently has an army. We won't be able to handle this alone."
"Rena is right," Eve nodded in agreement, looking down the waterway as they walked. "Besides, at no point were we alone while fighting those demons. Local garrisons and royal forces assisted us at almost all times."
"Fine..." Elsword nodded, letting out a sigh, and looked at us. "Then let's go get the rest and let's get out of here."
Location: Wally's Castle
Dennis' POV
After climbing a ladder, we finally left the stinky sewers, and were greeted with the sight of a magnificent castle. Which was located... exactly in the middle of Elder.
"Uhm... Echo..." I looked at the young girl with a slightly confused look. "I thought you said the waterway lead out of Elder."
"One end is located outside of Elder," Echo scratched her head, looking at the tall walls that surrounded them. "The other end is here. But it might help. Wally had a bunch of ships he used to escape whenever an emergency struck. Maybe if we search inside, we might find one."
"Good... because I'm not entering that sewer again..." Dewon looked at the waterway entrance and shivered for a second before turning towards us. "I hope one of you knows how to pilot it."
Suddenly, a loud roar in the distance distracted the three of us. We headed towards the gate, and not too far, we saw a huge white monster, walking quickly and blindly crashing into buildings, chasing after a group of people... and headed right in our direction.
"If you don't mind... I feel like starting to look for that ship now..." Dewon started backing away slowly before he promptly decided that rushing back inside the castle was a far better idea than staying there. "Run! Run inside!"
Both Dewon and Echo headed inside, but I decided to wait for the group. Someone had to close the gate when they arrived. However, as they were approaching, I realized... I knew those people.
Lost: Well, that's it for this chapter. See you all in May.
Elesis: Please tell me you are kidding.
Lost: I am kidding.
Elsword: There he is!
Deep: Get him!
Lost: Oh crap... *quickly hands paper to Elesis* Please read this while I run for dear life. Thank you. *runs the hell away*
Everybody else: *chases after*
Elesis: ...okay... *clears throat* "I apologize for the massive delay between chapters. It certainly won't happen again. I hope. Feel free to leave a review. Feedback is always encouraged and it'll help me improve my writing. Thank you in advance, and see you soon. And again... sorry for that."
