Right & Wrong
Chapter 11

Sunday morning as Beck got ready to go to Dan's to start work. Too busy focusing on picking out what shirt to wear (that would appeal more to Jade) he didn't pay much attention to who was calling when his phone rang. Sighing out of frustration when he couldn't decide which shirt he set them both down on the bed before pressing 'Accept' on his phone and just as quickly putting it on speaker. Then he returned to the two shirts, the black tank top with the red plaid cardigan - would that be too hot for the middle of July? - or the grey muscle shirt - did Jade like muscle shirts? - .

"Hey, Beck." A timid, almost unrecognizable voice spoke through his phone. "It's Alyssa. Thanks for answering."

He almost hadn't recognized his ex girlfriend's voice. Usually her voice was filled with confidence not shyness and...regret? Beck didn't know Alyssa had regret. She was such a good girl and when doing something bad, it wasn't categorized as bad for her. He guessed throwing someone's daughter under the bus had an affect on the model.

"Alyssa," his voice was clipped, "why did you call?"

"You already know, Beck." That sure sounded like Alyssa. "I miss you."

"We broke up, Alyssa." He sighed.

"I know, but I made a mistake!" Alyssa cried. Beck pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance. Her cries sounded whiny and like she was his daughter's age. He wasn't even sure that he heard Avery whine like that before. "Everybody makes mistakes."

"It's not just that one mistake, Alyssa." Beck explained. "We don't know each other that well. We rushed into things. You didn't even want to meet my daughter!"

"I never said that!" She countered.

"Why didn't you come to New Jersey with me then?" He pressed. "Or at least come down for a week to visit?"

Alyssa was silent. He knew he had got her there. Beck knew that the magazine hadn't been the only reason he had broken up with Alyssa. She was selfish some of the time and he still had feelings for his ex wife. He knew how he wasn't happy with being her boyfriend and that's why he had to end it. He would be fine with being friends with her some time after he arrived back to Los Angeles. Now, both of them needed space away from each other.

"Please don't do this." Alyssa pleaded silently.

Beck felt terrible for hurting Alyssa. Though, he knew he would be hurting her more if he stayed with her. Whether she knew it or not. "Goodbye, Alyssa." Before she could say anything else to make him feel worse he hung up. He sighed, rubbing his tired face. Then he looked back to his shirts and picked up the black tank top with his plaid shirt. He had to get to work soon.

Upon arriving to work he noticed Robbie and Cat giggling by the cash register. He smirked to himself as he leant by the door listening to their conversation. It seemed familiar to when they first started dating which made Beck smile. The two always had this youth about their relationship and he was glad that as they repaired it they still had the youth to it.

"Robbie, you're so silly!" Cat grinned smacking his arm playfully. "Cows can't fly!"

"I was telling you that nursery rhyme, Cat." He smiled at her innocence. "The one we used to sing to Avery."

"Oh!" Cat brightened. "Let's sing it to her some more!"

"Cat she's thirteen now."

"So she doesn't like a good song?"

"It's the morning, too."

"We can amp it up!"

After a laugh from Robbie, Cat went to go bombard Avery by dragging him by the wrist. Beck laughed and scanned the room for Jade. She was sitting beside Tori and Andre with a cautious eye on Robbie and Cat. He walked behind her and leaned by her ear. "Boo."

She jumped, being startled before turning around and smacking his arm hard. He winced and held onto it then broke out into a grin. Jade tried not to smile as he held his hands in defense.

"Sorry for scarring you." He smirked.

"You didn't scare me," Jade persisted, "I was surprised."

Beck continued to smirk at Jade before he noticed Tori and Andre smirking at the two of them. He raised an eyebrow. Had he been a little obvious there? He chuckled slightly to ease the newfound awkwardness. To change the subject, he reached over to give Andre a pat on the back.

"So less than a month, huh?" He said, referring to Tori's large stomach.

"Yup," Andre grinned as he felt his wife's pregnant belly. "Very excited."

"I can't wait for her to get here." Tori smiled.

"Him." Andre corrected.

"It's going to be a girl, Andre."

"No, it's going to be a boy."

Beck smiled at the couple teasing each other. Soon he realized how everyone in that room was with someone. Cat and Robbie were on their way to get back together, Andre and Tori were having their first child and even Avery was going on a date on Friday. He glanced at Jade who had returned to watching Cat and Robbie try to sing more songs to Avery. He would get there with her soon enough. He was sure of it.

"Hey, Beck," Jade snapped Beck out of his trance, "can I talk to you?"

Beck had the highest of hopes as he nodded. She lead him to the back room and opened the door for him to enter. Once inside she closed the door behind her and took a deep breath.

"So I've decided what to do about my mother." She cringed when saying the word 'mother'. It's not what Beck wanted them to discuss but he knew she needed to get this off her chest. He was glad to help her with it. "I'm going to meet her."

There was a silence. Jade had leaned against the wall and crossed her arms over her chest while she starred at the ground. Beck was thinking of what he could say. It was great that she wanted to see her mom. She'd never feel closure if she didn't. Instead of saying anything he opened his arms. Jade knew that was a welcoming to hug him and she instantly went in to hug him. She wrapped her arms around his torso and laid her head on his chest. It felt just like old times. She didn't cry and neither of them talked. He knew inside that she was scared. So when she pulled away he knew better than to kiss her in the vulnerable state she was in.

"Thanks," she said finally, "I needed that."

Beck gave her a soft smile. "No problem." Beck replied.

Another silence. They stood there starring at each other when suddenly Jade decided to take her phone out of her pocket. She held the phone in between the two of them and motioned Beck to come closer. He took a step towards her. "I need to call her."

Beck nodded. She wanted him to be there when she did to calm her down. Without him he was sure that there would be screaming matches starting. She slowly dialled the number that had called her two days before. It began to ring and Beck could notice her holding her breath. He reached over and rubbed her arm gently. She took a deep breath as they heard the pick up of the phone. Beck took away his hand.

"Hello?"

Jade was silent for a moment. Then her features clenched and an angry look formed on her face. Beck got at her to look at him and gave her a soft look. She softened in the slightest bit but Beck understood why she was mad.

"Hello? Is anyone there?"

"Hey," Jade deadpanned, "it's Jade."

"Oh my, Jade!" She gushed and the both of them could imagine her hand flying to her chest dramatically. Jade rolled her eyes. "You have no idea how happy I am that you called."

"You have no idea of angry I am that you did." Beck gave Jade a warning look. She just sighed and waited for Marie to say something.

"You have a right to be angry," she told her in a soft tone, "but I need to talk to you Jade."

"I can see," she said bitterly, "that's why Beck and I are meeting with you."

There was an awkward pause. Beck gave Jade a supportive smile as if telling her that she was doing well. She gave him the smallest smile in return.

"Oh," she paused, "you two are back together?"

Jade hesitated. Beck felt a sensation in his chest. Did that mean that she felt the same way he did? God, he could read Jade so well except for how she felt about him. Then she cleared her throat as if she didn't notice herself that she had hesitated. "No, we aren't." The tone in her voice was clipped. "I'd just feel better if Beck was with me when I meet you." Score.

"You will not see my daughter though." Jade exclaimed sternly. "That is until - if - I feel comfortable enough for you to meet her."

"I completely understand, Jade." They heard Marie exhaling from the other line. "When and where can I meet you?"

"Are you in New Jersey?" Jade asked. From what Jade remembered her parents traveled a lot for their work. Clients from all over America called them for all their problems and they would leave for weeks and sometimes months. When they had kicked Jade out the two of them had found out from her former neighbour that they'd put their house up for sale and left. No one had bothered to ask where they went.

"I am," she cleared her throat, "I recently moved back."

"Yeah, I don't care." Jade rolled her eyes. "We can meet at Jetbrew."

"Of course, whatever works." Marie said in a kind tone. "When?"

"Wednesday at noon," she answered shortly, "bye Marie."

"Goodbye, Jade." Jade and Beck could hear the happiness in her voice. It was almost heartwarming for Beck. He knew how it felt to miss your child after a long time. Sure, he hadn't bailed for nearly fifteen years, but the pain he felt once leaving Avery had only got worse overtime. He wondered if she tried to ignore the feeling like he did and convince herself that she was fine and that loving her was enough. "Thanks for call-"

Jade hung up. Then she tucked the phone in her back pocket and let out a big sigh of relief. Beck brought her in for another hug and rubbed her back to comfort her. "You did the right thing, Jade."

"I hope so."

Suddenly the door banged open and the two jumped apart. Jade because she was startled and Beck because he didn't want anyone thinking he was trying to make a move and telling Jade before he did so. Their 'relationship' or whatever it was, was between the two of them. Not between any of their friends or co workers.

They looked to who opened the door and gulped. Avery stood there with a confused look on her face. She quirked her eyebrow and pursed her lips together. That made her look so much like her mother that Beck almost laughed. She walked closer to her parents and crossed her arms over her chest. She looked suspicious. Beck wondered if Avery was suspicious about them or oblivious like Jade.

"Uh, Robbie opened the doors like five minutes ago." She informed them. "It's already packed."

"Yeah, I was just getting ready to start my shift." Jade gave her a quick smile. With that she kissed the top of Avery's house and scurried out the door. Avery looked to Beck with a playful but dangerous smirk dancing across her face.

"Better get to work, Avery Beary." He smirked back as he ruffled her hair and walked past her.

As he tied the waiter's apron around his waist Martin walked up to him with a clipboard. "Hey, Beck." He greeted him, not looking up from the clipboard. "Would you hire a fourteen year old to work here?"

Beck looked confused, but let a smile lift on his face. "Avery works here every Sunday, doesn't she?"

"Right, right." Martin nodded.

"Why do you ask?"

"This girl came in for an interview, Julia." He explained. "Real great employee. Just afraid she's too young."

Beck smiled. Maybe he could work something out to have Julia work on Sundays with Avery. He knew that she was a much better friend to Avery than Casey could be to anyone ever. If he could help repair that relationship he knew Avery would thank him for it later.

"I know her," Beck explained as he gave Martin a pat on the back. "She's a really hard worker. She'd be a great addition to here."

"Thanks Beck." Martin grinned.

After conversing with Martin, Beck got to work. He kept getting frequent glances from Avery. He always played it off with a smile and a wave and she'd quickly look away. After an hour of back and forth, Andre walked up and nudged him. He handed him a Styrofoam rectangle box. "You didn't mention we have take out services now." Andre sighed.

"I didn't even know we had take out." Beck replied accepting the box from Andre.

"Guess it isn't as popular because they rather stay and watch you." Andre joked. "Can you take this to Tristan? He ordered it."

Beck narrowed his eyes. Andre pointed to Tristan who was waiting at the door before walking away. Tristan was scanning the room probably looking for Jade. The last time Beck saw her was less than two minutes ago when she went in the backroom to get the pancakes to serve the customers. Beck suspected that Tristan was trying to sneak a look at Jade. Did he not know what a break meant?

After snarling, Beck walked up to Tristan confidentially. When Tristan noticed him walking up, he scowled. Beck gave him a big, fake smile in return. He shoved the box of pancakes in Tristan's arms.

"Here to see Jade?" He smiled sarcastically.

"Yeah, you know I was." Tristan sneered. "I like seeing my girlfriend."

"Oh, that's funny because Jade told me you two were on a break."

"We are."

"Break means you take a break from seeing each other."

"Trying to move in on my girlfriend, Hollywood?"

Beck scowled at Tristan. First off, Tristan wasn't his girlfriend. They were on a break which meant that they weren't dating. They could see other people, date other people. And if the relationship worked out they would break up and it wouldn't be a break. Second of all, Beck wasn't the same guy he was at the beginning of the summer. Sometimes he didn't even want to go back to Los Angeles.

"Take your pancakes and go." He ordered.

Tristan scanned the room once more before glaring at Beck. Then with a scoff he left. Beck scowled watching Tristan get in his car and leave. Watching for a second as the car drove off, Beck got back to work.

Early in the morning the next day, Beck slept soundly in his bed. He would have stayed asleep for a couple of more hours if his phone hadn't loudly blared. He groaned, cursing at himself for not remembering to put his phone on silent. Out of curiosity he glanced at the Caller ID. His vision was blurred because of how tired he was. He rubbed his face and gained vision when he saw that who was calling him was Jade. The time on his phone read five am. It had to be extremely important for her to call so early in the morning.

"Jade?" He yawned when he answered. "What's wrong?"

"Tori." Jade gulped. "Beck, she's having her baby."

Beck's eyes widened despite the sleepiness in his eyes. The baby was due on the fifteenth of August. The baby was three weeks early. Could it at least wait until noon? Instantly he jumped out of bed and pulled sweatpants on over the boxers he had slept in. He was balancing the phone between his ear and his shoulder.

"Did she call you?" Beck asked.

"Andre did." Jade informed him. "He's panicking. He asked for you to come."

"Was I any better when you were in labour?" Beck tried to joke. He knew that he was probably better than Andre when Jade went into labour (despite the fact that he had been much younger) but he understood that he could be a big help to him.

"Just meet me at St. Josephine's Hospital." Jade said with no patience for Beck's jokes. He heard Avery's voice in the background asking her questions he couldn't make out. Without waiting for a reply Jade hung up.

When arriving to the hospital Beck noticed Jade's car in the parking lot. He parked close to her and then rushed into the hospital. Upon entering he noticed his three friends and daughter with two others sitting in uncomfortable looking chairs. Avery was laying her head on her mother's shoulder trying to go back to sleep while Jade was in a conversation with Cat. She had sat beside Robbie who Beck was surprised to be there. He didn't know that Andre and Tori had got close enough with Robbie again to invite him to see their baby. Robbie was in conversation with a familiar male who was bouncing a toddler on his lap.

After rubbing his tired eyes Beck recognized the man as Trina's wife and toddler as her son. To everyone's surprise, Trina had met someone in college while studying to be a cop like her father (again becoming a surprise to everyone else). Vincent Martingale was higher in the Law Enforcement career than Trina because of her going off work for maternity leave. Vincent snuggled a three year old, sleeping David, careful not to wake him. Beck walked up to all of them with a tired smile on his lips.

"Hey, Beck." Vincent leaned over carefully holding David to shake Beck's hand. Beck settled into the seat beside Avery. "Nice to see you."

"You, too." Beck politely smiled at Vincent. He snuggled his sleeping son closer to him. "Is she pushing yet?"

"The doctor said soon," Jade explained, "it's going to be a quick labour."

"Good for Tori." Beck glanced at Avery who was trying to sleep. He looked at Jade and mouthed for her to hand their daughter over to him. Jade nodded and gently moved her head so it was tucked by Beck's shoulder. He slung his arm over her as she grumbled because of her sleepiness. He took the opportunity to kiss the top of her head before she tiredly swatted his chest.

"So, where's Trina?" Beck asked. As selfish as Trina could be at times he doubted she would miss the birth of her first niece or nephew. He was already sure that she had claimed the god mother spot.

"She insisted on being Tori's second hand in the birthing room." Vincent chuckled softly with a playful roll of his eyes. Beck knew very well that out of all people, Vincent had probably known more of Trina's ego than the rest of them. He had sure experienced enough of it by marrying her and getting her pregnant. Though Vincent found it humorous.

Avery snuggled closer to Beck before he could faintly hear her gentle breathing. He could tell she had now fell asleep. He smiled down at her. She had took after Jade's gentle breathing when they slept. It had been that way since she was a baby. After Avery he didn't think about having more kids as often as he did before her. He was sixteen and a new parent. One was all they needed. As they grew older, it had stayed that way. Their lives got busier and things got in the way. Beck was sure that he didn't really want another baby, at least at the moment. He just wished maybe Avery could have stayed a baby forever. Like David's age maybe. He missed when she called him daddy and adored him.

He just had baby on the mind because of Tori and Andre. Beck tended to have his mind drift off to babies when in the situation.

The seven of them remained in silence for the time being. Beck scanned his eyes around the hospital waiting room. Not much to see decoration wise. There was bland white walls that were dirty because of the years that the hospital had been there. Despite Beck knowing that they most likely cleaned it every now and then there was just a constant dirt on it. Almost as if it blended in with the walls. The floors creaked when you walked on a certain spot and the chairs looked like they had been made it the nineteen twenties. The hospital was so old that Beck's grandfather had been born there. Deciding not to get himself in a foul mood because of the scenery Beck observed the people.

A couple a few seats down were silently bickering about something. Beck tried not to listen I , but being the closest to them he heard key words of their conversation. Something with texting and how they should have watched the road. Their faces were mixed with emotion like anger and sadness. Meanwhile a couple with a newborn baby walked by. They were happy and tears of joy rolled down both of the parents cheeks. Beck always thought of hospitals as bipolar. Things so happy, but so sad could happen. He remembered being in hospitals for many of happy and sad reasons. When Avery was born he went to this hospital with Jade and same thing when she had broken her wrist when she was younger.

The silence was short lived as a panicked Andre ran into the room. Everyone snapped their attention to him when hearing his nervous whimpers. Beck thought that being a thirty year old man would prepare you for a child. He remembered chatting with Andre a while back about Tori going to breathing classes and the both of them reading pregnancy books. They seemed so prepared.

"Beck! Oh thank god!" Andre cried. Many people looked at Andre with angry glares and shushed him. He ignored them though as Avery stirred in her sleep and he tried to leap Beck to his feet. "I need you!"

Beck glared at Andre for waking up Avery. She simply groaned and wiggled out of her father's grasp to go back to Jade. Once against Andre ignored the negative reactions he was receiving and dragged Beck to his feet. "Tori's a mess! And Trina is not helping!"

"Lower your voice, Andre!" Beck hissed under his breath.

"Beck Oliver my wife is in labour!"

The mention of Beck's name drew attention from nearly everyone in the waiting room. Beck looked at Andre and scowled before looking back to everyone and giving them a small wave and charming smile to please them as they pulled out their phones. He was lucky it was early and no crazed fans were around in the waiting room of the hospital. No one approached him so Beck took Andre by the forearms and shook him.

"Get your shit together!" Beck stage whispered. "She's having a baby not giving her soul to the devil!"

"She is screaming her head off and refuses to take the epidural!" Andre stage whispered back.

"You're her husband, Andre! You should know how to handle it!"

"I've seen Tori in pain before, but this sounds like she's getting murdered!"

"It feels that way," Jade chimed in with a casual shrug.

"Jade? What did you do?" Andre asked crouching down to eye level. Jade raised an eyebrow. "To calm down. Do you remember what you did? Or what Beck did?"

"I dealt with it." Jade answered simply. Andre groaned, smacking himself in the forehead with the palm of his hand. Beck smirked for him not remembering that Jade loved pain. Lucky for her (and Beck) child birth was easy for her. The pain didn't matter. He could see how Tori would be different.

Andre turned to Beck who now noticed the pain and worry in his eyes. "You are my only help to calm her down, man." Andre pleaded. "Come on. You're charismatic. Think of something that would make people relax."

Beck scratched his head and started to think. What would he say to Jade when she was freaking out? He hadn't had to much when she was in labour but in general back when they were together she did have occasional freak outs. "Uh, whisper in her ear?" Beck suggested, the statement coming out in more of a question.

"Beck, I'm trying to calm her down not turn her on."

Rolling his eyes Beck looked at Andre seriously. He hadn't been joking but Beck sighed in frustration and ran his hands through his hair. "Whisper soothing things in her ear." He continued. "Not seductive things in her ear."

Andre nodded, following along. "Like, things are going to be okay." Beck noted earning a relieved look for Andre. "Remind her this is all for your baby. She should be okay afterwards."

"And if she isn't?"

Beck shrugged with a playful smirk. "Then you'll have to tough it out."

Ignoring the joke Andre nodded his head before saying a hurried thank you to Beck. With that he ran off, probably back to the delivery room to check on Tori and hope Trina wasn't making her worse. Beck relaxed back in his seat. He looked to Jade to ask if she could shift Avery to him again but he noticed her already soundly asleep. He didn't want to disturb her sleep any more that it already had. With that he leaned his head on the wall behind him and glanced at sleeping Avery. He noticed Jade smiling softly at him. He wasn't sure why. Maybe for helping Andre or just for the simple fact that he had been starring at Avery like she probably had. Beck returned her smile.

They didn't have to wait too much longer. Forty five minutes passed and Trina came out with a grin on her face. She instantly walked over to David who had woken up just minutes before and lightly tickled his stomach before addressing the rest of them. "Come on and meet my godchild." Trina smirked at them all as if she had been bragging. That's all she said before turning on her heel and making her way back to the delivery room with David in her arms. Leave it to Trina to state something cheerily but give no further information. Vincent chuckled before following her and Cat and Robbie trailed close behind.

Beck watched Jade struggle with Avery before gently lifting her head allowing Jade to have the access to move. "Should we wake her up?" Beck asked not taking his eyes off of their sleeping daughter.

"Yeah, she really wants to see Tori's baby." Jade nodded her head as she crouched down to gently shake Avery. Beck tried to help her by gently shaking her shoulder. Avery stirred before moaning. "Avery, Aunt Tori had her baby."

Avery yawned before rubbing her tired eyes. Then a small smile stretched across her face. Beck got up from the chair and helped her get up. "Is it a girl or a boy?" She asked her father as they headed toward the delivery room that Tori was in.

"Let's find out." Beck smiled at her before kissing head. He noticed her scrunch up her nose but what filled him with joy was the smile she had on her face.

When they entered everyone was huddled around Tori and the newborn baby. Andre was still starring in wonder at his child. Beck remembered when Avery was born. He was just like Andre. He couldn't take his eyes off her. She was his and she belonged to just himself and Jade. He never knew someone could be so small. All the worries he had of being a father at such an early age melted away at the moment. All that mattered was his tiny daughter he had been looking at.

"It's a girl!" Avery cried noticing the pink blanket. She eagerly rushed up to Tori to take a better look at the baby girl better. Promptly she turned to Andre. "You owe Cat twenty dollars."

Andre heaved a sigh and stuck his hand in his pocket. Cat giggled and bounced up to Andre before holding her hand out. He fished out his wallet and pulled out a crisp twenty dollar bill before handing it to his perky friend. With the money in her hand she walked cheerily back over to stand beside Robbie.

"What's her name?" Jade asked smiling with her arms crossed over her chest trying not to look touched at the scene before her.

"Justine," Andre answered not taking his eyes off of his daughter. "Justine Christina Harris."

Each of them took turns holding the new Harris baby. She was a perfect mix of her parents. Due to the fact that Andre and Tori had dark skin tones her tone was ranged somewhere in the middle. Beck got to hold her when she was awake. Her eyes were big and round like Tori's and brown like the both of them. Justine had Andre's big lips and his nose. She had a couple of strands of hair that was the colour of Tori's identically. Another thing she shared of her mother's was her cheekbones.

Tori and Andre would be leaving the hospital with their new arrival sometime that night. An hour after being introduced to Justine they all decided it was time for them to leave. Jade caught Beck alone before he was exiting the hospital.

"Hey are you still on for Wednesday?" She asked.

Beck nodded with a small smile. "Of course."

"Great." She gave him a half smile. "My house at around eleven thirty?"

"Yeah, I'll be there." He agreed. After saying their goodbyes Jade and Avery went to their car. He watched them until Jade got in the car and closed the door. When he turned around to walk to his car he noticed Cat and Robbie. Cat leant in and kissed Robbie's cheek before skipping off back inside the hospital. Beck raised an eyebrow. All he had to do was put them in a room together and they were back together.

He walked up to Robbie who was uncontrollably grinning. Beck smirked and clapped Robbie on the shoulder. He snapped out of his trace and looked to Beck. "Oh, hey." Robbie greeted him. Beck could hear the dreamily tone hidden in his voice.

"Hey," Beck greeted back. "Where did Cat go?"

"Inside to get her purse," he answered.

"So, you two back together?"

Robbie shook his head then paused and shrugged. "Sort of." He sighed. "We're taking things slow."

Beck grinned at his friend. "I'm happy for you, man." He told him honestly. "You two are happy together. Just don't screw it up, okay?" He was joking about the last part but he could see it all in his skinny friend's face that he took it seriously. He nodded.

"Not mean to be rude, by the way," Beck continued, "but why are you here? I didn't realize how much you repaired your relationship with Andre and Tori."

Robbie scratched the back of his head and laughed nervously. Beck knitted his eyebrows together confused. "I had spent the night at Cat's..." He said sheepishly. Beck smirked. Spending the night wasn't Beck's definition of taking things slow. "When Andre called I just kind of tagged along."

Beck was about to make a smart ass comment when Cat walked out of the hospital with a bright pink purse in hand. She smiled at Robbie and then at Beck. "Ready to go!" Cat announced. Robbie nodded his head to Beck as a goodbye before leading her to the car. "Bye Beck!" She called over her shoulder.

After waving goodbye to Cat and watching the car speed off Beck went to his car to go back to his parents house. He knew that Andre and Tori would probably not to get to work that previous Sunday due to their newborn daughter so he would have to find a replacement. He had the perfect idea. Julia could do the job. She was a hard worker and wanted the money. And working with Avery could get them close again. He had to remember to call Martin.
