"What do you think they're doing up there?" Abby asked as she paced back and forth the aisle between Gibbs and his teams desks.
"Well, I don't hear yelling or shooting, so you can count fighting off the list." McGee stated with a small smile.
"That's the thing! You'd think they'd be screaming their lungs out. Vance wanting an apology or something, and Assassin wanting him to kiss his ass! It's quiet..too quiet."
"John Wayne, The Lucky Texan. A 1934 classic about a teen and blacksmith going down a dangerous path after finding a gold nugget in a horseshoe. Although many believe that line was used in the 1920s by none other than Marcel Duchamp." Tony informed with a smile, resulting his team to stare at him.
"And yet, you can't remember the last time you had a date." Ziva quipped, deflating Tony's large ego.
"He last had one five months, two weeks, six days, 20 hours, and 58 seconds ago. It was with a Asian chick who promised she was a super model, which of course, was a lie." A familiar voice stated, which sounded kind of snarky. The team turned their attention staircase/ledge that you would take to get to Vance's office. There stood Vance, who was next to Assassin.
"H-How'd you know that?"
"I know everything about you people. Secrets, addresses, family, favorite foods, favorite entertainment, your ages, etc...Is that a gray hair Tony?" Assassin questioned, in order to change the subject.
"What?!" Tony turned around in his chair, and grabbed the mirror that sat on his desk. He started to check his hair, mumbling prayers Assassin was lying.
"Relax DiNozzo. Assassin's lying." Vance informed, causing Tony to sigh in relief. "Now, back onto the situation at hand. Where would you like to be situated?" Vance asked, while gesturing to the bullpin.
"Hmm." Assassin looked over the bullpin from where he stood. So many choices. So much time. "I'll take DiNozzo's desk." Assassin informed with a smile.
"Say what?"
"Tony, I would like you do move down a few desks. The one next to McGee." Vance ordered.
"Sir, if I may, what's going on?" Tony questioned nervously.
"You're getting a new teammate." Vance said happily, while slapping his hand onto Assassin's back. "I trust you'll treat Assassin with the respect and care he deserves." He informed, before turning to walk up the stairs, and into the office. The shocked teams eyes followed Vance as he left, allowing Assassin to move next to Tony's desk without being detected. He then slammed his hand on the desk, making the others jump in their seats...except for Abby, who was standing.
"Come on buddy, I'll help you move." Assassin informed with a smile.
(With Gibbs.)
Gibbs sighed as the as the dinging was constant in the elevator. A cup of black coffee was held in his hand as he stood firmly in the metal box. He started to drink, and finished in perfect timing as the elevator doors opened. Wiping his mouth with his leave he exited, and started walking towards his desk.
The sounds of typing and small murmurs sounded off all around him. Smiling he took another sip of his coffee, and hummed as he rounded his and his teams section of the bullpin. He was strangely happy for some reason. A reason, that could be stopped by nothing. He passed Tony's and Ziva's desks, before stopping after a foot away from them. He backed up and turned to face DiNozzo's desk, only to not see Tony. But instead, it was Assassin! Who was out of his suit and playing with a rubix cube.
"Hey Gibbs." Kevin greeted, not even looking at the older man as he finished the cube. "Done. McGee, how about another?" Kevin asked as he tossed the toy to McGee.
Gibbs kept a neutral face, before walking to Tony's new desk. The wall that separated his and McGee's was taken down, and the desk was now turned to face them.
"DiNozzo, can we talk?" Gibbs didn't wait for an answer, before walking away and towards the staircase, with DiNozzo following close behind. "Where do I begin?"
"Boss, I can explain." DiNozzo stated, which received him a look saying 'well? get on with it!'. "This is all Vance's fault."
(Vance's Office.)
Vance continued filling out the report that came with Assassin's new job. But he smiled as Cynthia's voice came over the mic(?).
"Director Vance. Gibbs is here to se-." Her voice was cut off as Gibbs abruptly entered his office.
"Wow, I was expecting you here sooner." Vance stated as he checked his watch.
"Do you like putting my team in danger, Leon?"
"What are you on about Gibbs?"
"Lets see, for one we have a psychopath in the bull pen."
"Wouldn't be the first time."
"But the worst part is that you assigned him you my team!"
"So it wouldn't be as bad if he were assigned to another team."
"You know what I mean Leon. But the question to answer everything is, why is he here?"
"For being here, I have no clue. As for working here, it's quite the story." Vance stated, before sitting straight in his seat. "The president knew Assassin was at NCIS. So he called and requested to talk to him. The president thanked Assassin for helping stop the terrorist attack. Assassin wasn't pleased and requested multiple things the president couldn't deliver. So finally he asked what Assassin wanted, and he answered. The answer, being he wanted to work in the NCIS. And, in your team surprisingly."
"Now, why the hell would you want to work here? And, for my team?!"
"Maybe he wanted to get closer to Abby." Vance stated with a small, knowing smile.
"You're not helping."
"I wasn't trying."
"Leon!"
"Look Gibbs, I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do. The best advice I can give, is try to get along with Assassin. He'll be working with you and your team for awhile. Try to make it work." Vance stated, causing Gibbs to sigh. As much as he hated to admit it, Vance was right. There was nothing either of them go do. And, all the old Gunny could do, was try to get along with the killer.
"Ok, fine. I'll try to make it work."
"Fantastic. If there's a problem, come to me and I'll try to handle it." Gibbs nodded and left the office, leaving Vance alone to finish the paperwork he had started.
