"Good morning to you too," The newcomer said. My brows twitched the moment I recognized that distinct voice. When I turned to my left, I gape when I saw that Takao-kun was now standing next to me.

I can feel my heart thumping with the unexpected scene.

"One order of strawberry shortcake please,"

I ended up gawking at him when I heard his order. That was the exact cake that I was about to order as well!

Talk about fate and soulmate here.

Then I froze when he looked at me, but it got me confused for a moment when he smiled and greeted me in a most leisure way — as if he knew that I'm there already.

"And good morning to you too, Sayu-chan," Takao-kun said with a usual playful smile plastered on his face. "It was a surprise to see you here early in the morning."

"That should be my line," I answered. Instantly forgetting how he knew that I was here without looking at me. "This shop is just blocks away from our home. I believe you live far away from us, if I'm not mistaken?"

Takao-kun smiled with that. I tried my best not to sigh dreamily. Seeing him smile is the best scenery that I had seen in my life. "Almost an hour-drive if I use my bike all the way here."

"Really," I answered, a little bit in awe with the fact that Takao-kun drove all the way here. "Are…are you planning to visit us — I mean nii-san early today?"

"Eheh. I'm planning for this sudden visit to be a surprise. Since you catch me, then I have to say yes," He said. "I'm hoping that Shin-chan is up and in his good mood today, else I might see myself being thrown out of the house first thing in the morning."

"I didn't see him in the dining area today, but I bet that he's awake now. Knowing my brother's daily routine," I said. I was pertaining to his beloved Oha Asa. Then I added, "By the way, why are you visiting him this morning again? Do you have morning practice now?"

I saw him hesitate for a moment. When the crew came back with the freshly made strawberry shortcake on her hands, he said, "I'm bringing Shin-chan's lucky item for today."

"For today?"

Oh. That's right. Within those two weeks, I also discovered that he, if not most of the times, was the one responsible for fetching my nii-san's lucky items. I remembered talking to him about this, asking him as to why he would go all that trouble just to find nii-san's precious items.

He only told me that enjoyed doing it.

I have no say on that matter, do I?

"Wha…what's the item this time?"

"Here you go sir," The crew interjected, offering the cake that was now inside the pastel colored box to Takao-kun. "That was only for 690 yen."

He gave the exact amount to the crew in exchange to the medium sized shortcake. Then he turned to me and grinned, lifting the box for emphasis. "This is today's lucky item for Cancers."

I can't help but arch my brows with that. "That's…nice. That's so sweet of Takao-kun,"

"You think so?" He asked. Wide grin was still plastered on his face.

I only nodded. To be honest, I find it weird to see a boy bringing a cake, of all things, to his friend with the same gender. I'm aware this is nii-san we are talking about, knowing how eccentric his attitude is, plus the fact that Takao-kun was only obliged to acquire the supposed lucky item today.

And that is, specifically, strawberry shortcake.

In normal situation, this scene looked a lot as if the 'boyfriend' was giving the 'girlfriend' a gift as he visits her home.

This is not normal, if we distinguish the real situation now.

I quickly put that thought out of my mind.

That is most…disturbing.

"How about Sayu-chan?" I looked at him when he spoke. I blinked in confusion for a moment, and then he added, "Why are you here early in the morning?"

That was when I remembered the main reason why I'm here in the first place. I almost gape at him, my cheeks felt out of the sudden. "I-I'm just canvassing,"

"Oh? For a cake?" He said as he looked at the line of colorful cakes before looking back at me.

"I'm planning to make one," I blurted out before I could stop myself.

"Sayu-chan knows how to bake then?" I can see the interest in his eyes.

I swore to the heavens, I just let out an awkward excuse of a laugh. "N-not really. I'm only practicing."

"What for?" He asked. "Ah — are you required to bake a cake in one of your subjects? Oh! I remembered something like that in my middle school. Heh. It brings back nostalgic feelings."

Since I do not intend to let him know my real reason, I only nod.

"That's great. Lots of luck to you then," He grinned. Then out of the sudden, I was almost paralyzed when he leaned near me. Whispering, he said, "Do you intend to buy something? The salesgirl has been staring at you intently ever since I came here."

I almost collapsed knowing how close his face and mine now, thoughts of as to how he knew that the crew is staring at me flew out of my head. His enchanting scent is driving me insane.

"Y-yes…N-not really, I mean—no, I have no intention of buying in the first place—oh—shit," I almost clamped my mouth with that. I saw how the eyebrows of the salesgirl twitched in what seems to be annoyance.

She must have been annoyed with me. Who wouldn't be anyway? I've been staying inside their shop for an hour, doing nothing but pacing around and staring at their cakes, then out of the sudden, I claimed that I'm just canvassing.

Being near him is making me restless. That's a fact.

"Let's just go, Takao-kun. I'll accompany you home," I said instead.

"Ohhkay then," Takao-kun answered, but I can notice that he was half-confused, and I bet half amused as well — base from the slight amused tilt of his lips.

Unsure what to do, I went to the door and pushed it with my mind flying. But then I frowned when the door didn't open even if I tried pushing it several times. I panicked with that, almost thinking that we're stuck inside the shop forever.

"Err…Sayu-chan, the sign says pull," Takao-kun said. Hearing his voice made my heart skip a bit, especially when my mind slowly digested what he just said.

Oh.

I felt like a fool when the door opened without any difficulties as I pulled it for the first time. I suppressed myself to sneer at the salesgirl when I heard her faint snicker.

Stupid door.

Stupid salesgirl.

I swore that my embarrassment went deeper when I heard Takao-kun chuckling. Before I could comment though, I froze when I felt a hand patting my head.

"Don't let that affect you, Sayu-chan. That's totally normal," He said. When I looked at him, he was smiling. Thus, the throbbing of my heart. "We all have silly moments in our lives."

I smiled with that, albeit awkwardly.

The moment we went out of the shop and walked side by side, I tried to suppress myself with the urge to squeal like a crazed fangirl.

I'm walking shoulder to shoulder with my guardian angel.

I feel as if we just went through a perfect date and he's walking me home.

I tried sneaking a glance at him, and prayed in delight when I saw that he's busy finding for something inside his bag. I observed him, noticing how perfect his face is even in side view. Quickly, I looked to my right when he was about to look up. I winced as the sudden action made my neck hurt.

I can't believe this is happening.

This is…just heaven.

"Here," I glanced at him with that, noticing his outstretched hands. My heart jumped in joy when I saw the familiar plastic bag dangling on his hands. "Kaa-san made my favorite dish this morning. I thought of you first, knowing how you like Korean and all that."

Oh. I recalled telling him in one of our text conversations that I'm fond of all Korean, though the real reason why I said that was to get on his good side. Then he told me that he was part Korean, with his mother being the half Korean of the family.

Since I don't want him to know that I already know that certain information about him, I acted as if I'm surprised.

Then he began telling me all the stuffs that he knows about Korean, even teaching me some Korean words that he knows. Mayumi-chan was the one who suggested the idea of pretending that I love Korean so much for us to get closer.

I complied despite my hesitation.

And I didn't regret doing that.

"T-Thank you," I said that in Korean as I reach out to get his gift, I felt silly saying that foreign word. "Did I get it right?"

Grinning, Takao nodded. "That's right. Heh. You're improving."

I smiled with that, clutching the bag of kimchi in my hands.

He really is a thoughtful person.

I looked at him when he groaned, then I saw him trying to push his bangs away from his eyes. When he tested if it would stay in that place, his hair went back to its original place. He tried it again, even blowing it when the action seemed helpless.

I can't help but chuckle.

"I should have brought my headband today," He said, ruffling his bangs before trying to push it away from his eyes again. When it went back to block his eyes, he sighed. "Do you have a ponytail or something? My bangs is a hopeless case."

"You're…using accessories in your hair?" I said. A little bit of amused. To be honest, I find it weird to find a guy who was okay using a girly accessories without getting conscious, and I believe Takao-kun is one of them. Still amused, I pulled a hair pony that I have in my wrist and offered it to him. "You can have this."

"Ah! That'd be of great help!" He exclaimed, reaching for that band with a wide grin then he gathered his bangs and positioned it on top of his head. "Thanks, Sayu-chan."

"Er…It's nothing,"

I only observed when he tied his bangs as if he was accustomed of doing that. Once he was finished, he even divided his hair in the middle, rolled the bottom section of his hair into the centre and pulled it securely.

Now I'm convinced that weirdness is really a contagious disease.

"This is my first time knowing a boy who uses girl clips on his hair as if it's a natural thing to do, and without getting conscious," I commented, still amused with the new traits that I discovered about Takao-kun.

In all fairness to him, his new hairstyle fits him.

"Ahaha~ Really?" Takao answered, grinning. "I guess I just got used to it."

"Used to it?"

He nodded. "My little sister is a thoughtful and generous tot. Always sharing what she has with her older brother, even giving hair accessories as a birthday present or whenever she feels like giving to me. Heh. I just can't decline her gift without hurting her feelings can I? It'd be worthless if I let those stay in my drawers forever, and it wouldn't hurt if I use it from time to time right?" He chuckled. "After all, it benefits my stubborn hair. Heh. I should use my hot pink ribbon next time and flaunt it to Shin-chan."

I almost snort with that. Imagining Takao-kun with a pink ribbon on his hair is amusing. "I need to see that."

He laughed.

"Say, Sayu-chan," He called after a while. "What's your sign again?"

"Sign?" I frowned. "You mean astrology?"

"Uh huh," He said. "Err— nevermind that. I was just wondering."

"My birthday is on September 30, so I think I'm a Libra," I said instead. "I'm not really interested with Astrology and whatnot so I'm not exactly sure. Why are you asking by the way?"

"Oh? Nothing," Takao-kun laughed. "I guess it has been a habit of mine ever since I got acquainted with Shin-chan."

"I see," I answered. "What about yours Takao-kun?"

"November 21 is my birthday, so I'm a Scorpio," He answered. "Heh. It's amazing to think that I have knowledge with these kinds of things already. I don't even know my own sign back when I haven't met your brother."

"I guess nii-san must have influenced you regarding these things."

"You bet," Laughed Takao. "I don't particularly believe in horoscopes. I pay no attention to the morning predictions back then. Now I feel restless whenever I missed watching Oha Asa, or the lucky item for Cancers. Shin-chan's quirks must have been rubbing on me without my knowledge."

Is it just me, or Takao-kun was really thinking about my nii-san almost…well, all the time?

We reached home before we know it. That was a fast walk to home, or perhaps it was the fact that Takao-kun was beside me so I haven't noticed the time.

Seems like we have the same thoughts.

"That's fast, don't you think so?" He commented, and then he looked at our gate before taking a glance at me. "I wish Shin-chan's already up and about."

"I'm positive," I answered, gesturing him to come in. When he didn't move, I tried jesting, "Don't be so modest now, Takao-kun. Think of this as your second home. It's not like this is your first time coming here."

He chuckled with that. "I'm just a little anxious. Shin-chan doesn't know that I'm visiting after all. Plus, today is Sunday so I bet both of your parents are here."

"I don't mind—I mean, we don't mind you visiting my nii-san in any day that you want," I said, tapping my head mentally with the sudden slip. "And it's not like you're new to the family. Nii-san will never do inappropriate things to you if our parents are present."

Takao-kun must have understood what I am trying to say, because he grinned and moved.

"Tadaima!" I said the moment I moved the door open. Takao-kun trailed behind me — pulling out his shoes and setting it aside on the shoe rack like what I just did.

I proceed to the dining hall first and guess what? Nii-san's frown greeted me first in the morning. He was sitting on one of our dining chairs, the television was open, and it wasn't hard to guess what he has been watching. Surprisingly, our parents were not here yet. Perhaps they were still sleeping.

"Where—"

Nii-san's words were cut, looking as if he saw a white lady from behind me. Then I remembered Takao-kun. He must have followed me.

When I turn around, I was right.

"What are you doing here?" was the first question my nii-san said to him.
