Author's Note: I've recently published a new story, called The Demon, The Hedgehog and The Alien. Starring Shadow the Hedgehog, Mephiles the Dark and Archie Comic's Eclipse the Darkling, it's a romance/adventure story when Mephiles and Eclipse team up to take down Shadow, but when the three uncover unbelivable feelings they have for eachother, their lives are changed forever and Shadow's friends must make an impossible decision. As of now, the story has one favourite and one follower, but no reviews, so if you could read it and leave a review I'd be extremely grateful! I already have more chapters and even a sequel planned!
"This sure is a posh restaurant, Knux…it must've been pricey!" commented Rouge. The two were seated at a circular table in the middle of a colossal restaurant which had a white ceiling and cream walls. Upon each table stood a vase holding artificial flowers of various sizes and colours. Surrounding them were other couples indulging into plates full of finely cooked meats and delectable-looking vegetables, all smothered in beef gravy.
"I'm not telling you how much it cost and before you ask, I'm not telling you how expensive the ring was either." Knuckles was closely reading the large menu set on the table in front of him.
Admiring the golden ring on her finger, Rouge cooed, "It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
"I knew you'd love it."
"Hey, Knux?"
"What is it?"
"When is the wedding gonna be?"
"Next Sunday."
Rouge's face fell, normally weddings were a few months after an engagement, as there was a great deal to organise. How would they be able to find the exact dress Rouge desires, the perfect venue, an enjoyable reception, eye-pleasing bridesmaids dresses, decent food, seating arrangements, the best man's speech, transport and the honeymoon in one week?
"Next Sunday?! Knux, that's not nearly enough time to sort everything out! We don't even know who's coming to the wedding yet!" cried Rouge.
Knuckles remained relaxed to Rouge's amazement, still not moving his eyes from the menu."No worries, I've already dealt with the majority of things. All you need to concentrate on is the dress, the bridesmaids and their dresses, and decide where you'd like to go for the honeymoon."
There was a long pause before Rouge finally spoke up, "You…arranged the wedding before proposing to me?"
"I did, as I knew you wouldn't say no." He slid the menu across to Rouge, who wouldn't look at it.
"What if I had refused? You would've wasted all that money, you moron!" demurred Rouge.
"Calm down, it's done. Let's not feud over such minor issues which never actually happened."
"You're so stubborn."
"Hurry and look at that menu before a waiter arrives!"
"Okay okay!"
After scanning the menu for two minutes, Rouge came to the conclusion of what she wanted. Just then, a tall male stoat with chestnut fur wearing a tuxedo appeared at the table.
"Welcome to The Indigo Sun, what may I get you two?"
"First of all, I'd like the freshly baked breads with butter and balsamic oil starter. Then, the woodland mushroom, shallot and chestnuts braised in stout encased in suet pastry served with champ potatoes and winter garden vegetables. And last but not least, the dark chocolate mousse with baileys liquid centre accompanied by hazelnut praline and vanilla chantilly cream!" said Knuckles.
"Thank you, and what about you, Miss?"
"Air dried and salted beef with grilled artichoke and asparagus starter, grilled bream with braised baby fennel and drill, and panna cotta, kirsch macerated raspberries and lavender biscuit, please."
"Your starters will be here shortly, I hope you find our food satisfactory." With those words, the stoat left.
Rouge turned to a beaming Knuckles. "Who's coming to the wedding, then?"
"Sonic, Tails, Amy, Silver, Blaze, Vector, Espio, Charmy, Tikal, Cream, Vanilla, Big and Omega."
Unsurprised to not hear Shadow's name mentioned, Rouge nodded her head in approval. "Perfect! I've already got in mind the dresses for Amy, Blaze and Tikal. I was thinking lilac with matching heels, I know Blaze will be the most thrilled about that!"
"She will be. And incase you were wondering, I've chosen Sonic to be my best man."
"I already knew. Well, you weren't gonna pick Tails!" laughed Rouge.
"Tails?! He wouldn't have anything positive to say about me, we rarely see eye to eye!" proclaimed Knuckles.
"Sonic's speech is gonna be corny, there's no denying that!" quipped Rouge.
"No, he promised me he's gonna take this seriously. But never mind that, where you thinking of spending our honeymoon?" asked Knuckles.
"Hawaii!" squeaked Rouge in no time at all. She had always dreamt of visiting Hawaii and sunbathing on its beauteous beaches.
"Hawaii it is!" speculated Knuckles.
Before he could stop Rouge, she had leaned over the table and placed her lips on his, wrapping her arms around his neck to hold him in place. He couldn't believe that in a week, she would be his wife. To have her spend the rest of his life with him was his every wish granted and he knew nothing could ever stop their wedding from taking place.
