Firekit sat outside the nursery. He watched as many cats went about their daily business.
He sighed, what does he know about this new life? Nothing, this cat world is foreign to him, no matter how long he stays here.
A gray pelt sat down at his side, and he turned to see graykit there. He had that same lost look in his eyes. "You look confused." he commented.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about." Firekit stammered,
"Don't you?" Graykit asked, a look of doubt on his face.
Firekit looked at his paws. "I don't know." he responded.
Graykit tipped his head. "Come on, it's okay to tell me." He meowed.
Firekit looked up to the sky. "I don't know."
Graykit looked at his paws. "I know the feeling of lost in the clan," he whispered, "I feel like this is a place that is not my home."
Firekit looked at him. "But, you were born here."
"So were you." Graykit retorted.
Firekit stepped back. "I didn't say I felt out of place!" He snarled.
"I can see it in your eyes, in your voice; you are feeling out of place." Graykit responded.
Firekit felt his fur rise. "You can't prove that." he growled, but then looked back at his paws. "Okay maybe you're right." He quickly put in.
Graykit padded to his side. "I'm here for you to talk to." He told Firekit.
Firekit looked into the yellow eyes. "I just feel like I need to be somewhere else."
Graykit nodded. "It can be confusing when you look at it like that. but don't feel like you aren't clan born, that you are not anything that doesn't belong here, that you aren't one of those stupid twolegs."
"Twolegs?"
Graykit chuckled. "Large furless creatures that walk on two paws, very tall with little arrogant kits that have no respect for cats, or at least that's how the elders put it." graykit responded.
Looking over those descriptions, he believed that they were talking about humans.
'If only you knew.'
Firekit turned his head; graykit was trying to be nice. But how could he ever understand what was going on? How can he understand him?
Graykit was done talking, and was walking away back towards his siblings. Leaving Jacob alone in the back, as Firekit walks in the opposite direction in the meanwhile.
