Chapter 11

Three days later

Draco sat in his office, looking over some paperwork when he heard his secretary knock on the door.

"Mr. Malfoy, Mr. Zabini is here to see you," she said.

"Please send him in, Althea. Thank you," he replied.

He smiled when he saw his friend walk through the door and sit down.

"Hello, Blaise. What's up? Please tell me you have details about the new Nimbus model," he said.

Blaise laughed and shook his head, "Not yet, my friend. I'll let you know when I do. I'm actually here to see if I can persuade you to eat lunch with me at that new Lebanese place that opened down the street. I've been dying to try it, but you know how Emma feels about Lebanese food."

Draco looked at the clock and nodded, "Sure, why not? I'm pretty hungry, anyway."

Blaise nodded and the two stood up and left the office. Draco informed Althea as to where he would be and the pair of friends left the building.

After ordering, the two spoke of their sons, Quidditch and fast brooms. It was after this that Blaise said, "So, I noticed at the party that Scorpius really seemed attached to Granger."

Draco nodded and said, "He is. He talks about her all the time. "

"Really? Does he see her a lot?" Blaise asked with a glint in his eye.

"Not really. He's only seen her 3 times," Draco replied.

"So when's the next time he's going to see her?"

Draco cleared his throat and took a sip of his water. Blaise thought this stall tactic was very interesting.

"Well?" Blaise asked when Draco did not answer after putting his water glass down.

Draco took a deep breath and decided to tell his friend the truth.

"She's going with us to the match on Friday evening," he said quickly.

"What? You are going on a date with Granger?" Blaise asked loudly.

Draco shook his head, "It's not a date, Blaise. Just two people who know each other and both care about Scorpius. That's it."

Blaise sat back in his chair and grinned widely.

"Yeah, okay, Drake. Whatever you say. Sounds like a date to me. Gonna kiss her when you drop her off at home?"

Draco rolled his eyes and said, "No, because it isn't a date."

Blaise laughed. "Mate, I saw the way you two were smiling at each other at the party. You can't tell me you don't think she's hot."

Draco took another drink from his glass and Blaise smiled knowingly.

Truth was, Draco had been thinking about Hermione's smile since the party. It was a beautiful smile, genuine and caring. Hermione's attractiveness had not escaped him, either. The pretty girl had grown to become a gorgeous woman, in his opinion.

"I knew it! You can't lie to me, Draco. You know, it's about time you started dating. Emma and I have been talking about it, and we think you should get out,"

"There has to be a conspiracy here. Why has everyone suddenly decided to tell me that they think I need to "get out"? I'm quite content with my life, if you must know,"

"Content and happy are two different things, mate. You used to be happy, and we all just want to see you be happy again,"

Draco nodded and sighed. "It's been hard to be happy without Astoria. If I didn't have Scorpius, I wouldn't be where I am now."

"I know. Look, I'm sure Daph has already told you this, but Astoria would want you to date. She wouldn't want you to be lonely all the time,"

Draco just nodded.

"Just think about it," Blaise said as the server brought the food over to them, "and let yourself have fun at the match with Granger, okay?"

"All right. I'm not kissing her, though,"

"We'll see about that," Blaise said and took a bite of his food, smiling.

"You're what?!" Harry asked Hermione.

"I'm going to the Quidditch match with Draco and Scorpius on Friday evening. It's not that big of a deal, Harry," she answered.

Harry gave an incredulous look at his wife, but she was looking at Hermione with a smile on her face.

"That's wonderful! What are you going to wear? You need to look nice, because he will, but not too nice, because you want to appear casual…hmm…let me check my closet to see if I have something suitable," Ginny said and went to her bedroom.

Harry stared after his wife and shook his head. "Has the world gone mad?" he asked.

Hermione rolled her eyes and said, "I don't see why you are upset."

"You are going on a date with Draco Malfoy,"

"It's not a date," she said quickly.

"Then what is it?" he asked.

"It's just two adults going to a sporting event with a child," she answered.

"Yeah, okay. Why are you going?" he asked.

At this, she stopped and thought. After a few moments, she shrugged.

"I'm not sure, to tell you the truth. Draco asked me, and I said 'yes',"

"So it's Draco now?" he asked.

"Oh, grow up, Harry. We're adults now," she retorted.

"I just don't get it, Hermione. One minute he's our childhood enemy, the next minute you're going to a Quidditch match with him,"

"He apologized, remember? He's not the same person he was at Hogwarts. You know that,"

"Okay, okay. I will concede that he's matured and not the git he used to be, but we don't know him that well. He could still be a massive jerk,"

"He's not, Harry. Anyway, it's not a date, so it doesn't matter,"

Harry opened his mouth to speak when his wife bounced into the room holding a blue top with yellow polka-dots and a matching blue skirt.

"This is perfect, Hermione,"

"Why blue?" Hermione asked.

Ginny rolled her eyes and said, "Puddlemere's colors are blue and yellow, silly. You will have to learn some about Quidditch if you are going to date Malfoy."

"It's not a date! We aren't dating!"

"Whatever it is, you are wearing this outfit. Need shoes?" Ginny asked.

Harry rolled his eyes and asked, "I am not going to persuade you not to go, am I?"

Hermione looked at her friend and shook her head.

"I can take care of myself, Harry. Look, I know seems weird that I'm going to the match with Draco, but I think I will have fun. More fun than hanging out with my cat on a Friday night, that's for sure,"

Harry looked at her sympathetically and reached out to grab her hand.

"If he mistreats you in any way, I'll hex him into oblivion," he said.

Hermione smiled and stood.

"Thanks for the outfit, Ginny. I'm sure it will be perfect for Friday,"

Ginny smiled and gave her a hug.

"Let me know if you want me to come over and fix your hair,"

Harry rolled his eyes and shook his head.

"Well, have fun, Hermione. Be careful," he warned.

Hermione smiled and said, "I'm always careful. You know that."

He gave her a hug and she left, carrying the clothes Ginny lent her. As she walked, she wondered again why she agreed to go with Draco and his son. She thought about her empty apartment and frowned. While being alone allowed her plenty of time to read, it was also boring, and was definitely lacking. Even though Friday night was not a date, she found herself getting a little nervous thinking about it. It had been a very long time since she had went anywhere with a guy that wasn't Harry, and she couldn't remember the last time she went anywhere with a guy that was as attractive as Draco.

Does Draco think of this as a date? she wondered, Surely not. I mean, he is bringing his son. You don't bring your child to a date, right?

She was still thinking about Friday as she later lied down in her bed, and the nervousness hadn't lessened one bit.
